EPL: Three Man Utd players intimidated by Ronaldo

Former Aston Villa striker, Gabriel Agbonlahor has claimed three Manchester United players are intimidated by Cristiano Ronaldo.

Agbonlahor also hit out at Ronaldo for ‘sulking’ during their disappointing 1-1 draw with Newcastle United on Monday.

Second-half substitute Edinson Cavani ensured United got a point at St James’ Park, cancelling out Allan Saint-Maximin’s superb opener.

Agbonlahor has now criticized Ronaldo’s performance and says interim boss Ralf Rangnick would drop the 36-year-old “if he had anything about him”.

According to him, Ronaldo is affecting the “harmony” in the dressing room and intimidating Marcus Rashford, Mason Greenwood and Jadon Sancho.

Agbonlahor told Football Insider: “The harmony is not right in that changing room.

“They can’t express themselves, it’s like they think, “I have to pass to Ronaldo, I have to create a chance for Ronaldo”.

“Before Ronaldo came, Greenwood was taking players on and shots on and he’s not doing that anymore and getting dragged at half-time.

“If I was Rashford, Greenwood or Sancho I’d be saying to myself, “Oh, why did we have to bring him here?”

“‘Rashford, Greenwood and Sancho can play as a front three rotating positions and running in behind. If the manager had anything about him, he’d drop Ronaldo for the next game.”

Manchester United striker Cristiano Ronaldo would welcome Diego Simeone to Old Trafford next season.

It’s emerged Atletico Madrid coach Simeone is being discussed inside the United board room as a long-term successor for sacked manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. For now, Ralf Rangnick is in charge on a caretaker basis, though will be replaced in June.

Okdiario says Simeone is a favourite of many on the United board – and has also received the backing of Ronaldo.

The Portugal captain has long admired Simeone and has made it clear to directors that he’d be happy to play for the Argentine should he be appointed.

Cassano reveals Ronaldo direct message over criticism

Former Italy striker Antonio Cassano has revealed Manchester United ace Cristiano Ronaldo has contacted him in the past about his criticism.

Cassano says former Juventus ace Ronaldo is too thin skinned.

He told Bobo TV: “Ronaldo wrote me messages, Cristiano Ronaldo, telling me that I had to have respect for him, for what he had won, for the goals he had scored.

“I am not afraid of the truth, I face the whole world, from the Pope to the last of this Earth. I called Buffon and he confirmed that he gave my number to the press officer who he turned it over to Ronaldo to tell me that he scored 750 goals and I only 150.

“I say: dear Cristiano Ronaldo, you have everything, you live calm and relaxed. Take example from Messi, he doesn’t give a damn about everything and everyone. Send the message to me, this is the truth. And Gigi Buffon, he knows it well. And Gigi laughed, even Chiellini knew. He made me angry. But how are you doing? What are your problems?”

Ronaldo and Rangnick must find compromise – Henry

Arsenal great Thierry Henry says Manchester United striker Cristiano Ronaldo and new manager Ralf Rangnick will need to thrash out their differences.

Ronaldo struck twice in victory over Arsenal last night.

Henry reckons they’ll both need to meet each other in the middle somehow and put the club’s best interests first.

He said: “We shouldn’t talk about the man, what he can achieve, what he can do, or what he did achieve and what he can still do.

“Now, it’s going to have to be a discussion between Rangnick and him because we all know that’s part of the game he lacks the most and that is part of the game Rangnick likes the most – pressing and counter-pressing.

“So, they need to have a discussion on who is going to give up a little bit on what they usually like to do and ego’s going to have to be put on the side at one point for the good of this club. It shouldn’t be a Ronaldo thing or a Rangnick thing, they need to find a way to pull this club forward.”

Allegri snubs Ronaldo, supports Messi in Ballon d’Or verdict

Juventus manager, Max Allegri, has said Paris Saint-Germain superstar, Lionel Messi, is the best player in the world.

Messi picked up his seventh Ballon d’Or prize on Monday.

Cristiano Ronaldo was absent at the event and accused the organizers of lying. The Manchester United forward finished in sixth place in the final rankings, behind Robert Lewandowski, Jorginho, Karim Benzema and N’Golo Kante.

His former boss Allegri has now rubbed salt in Ronaldo’s wounds by insisting that Messi was a deserving victor in the awards ceremony.

Ronaldo and Allegri worked together at Juve in the 2018/2019 campaign, where they won the Serie A title.

Now the Italian coach has snubbed his former star forward when asked to discuss who was a deserving Ballon d’Or winner this year.

Allegri told a press conference: “They picked Messi and we can say that technically he is the best player in the world.

“But I don’t know what they base their judgement on.”

Thiago Silva responds to Scholes criticism over Ronaldo

Chelsea’s Thiago Silva has hit back at Manchester United legend, Paul Scholes for saying that Cristiano Ronaldo would have got the better of him(Silva) had the Portuguese started their Premier League tie on Sunday.

Michael Carrick, the caretaker boss of Manchester United had surprisingly kept Ronaldo on bench during their 1-1 draw against Chelsea.

And Scholes, while running a commentary on Sky Sports, criticised Carrick’s decision to start Ronaldo on the bench and felt that the former Real Madrid star would have thrived against Thiago Silva.

The former England international also claimed that Manchester United have ‘more talent’ than Chelsea.

But Thiago Silva has hit back at Scholes’ claims on Instagram.

In his response to a Chelsea fan’s account that generalised Scholes’ view of Ronaldo and Thiago Silva, the Brazilian defender wrote: ‘It is always easy, especially for those who have stopped playing!’

‘I don’t even know who I feel more sorry for’ – Kalinichenko speaks on how Rangnick, Ronaldo can’t work

Former Spartak Moscow midfielder Maxim Kalinichenko is baffled by how Ralf Rangnick will manage Manchester United.

Lokomotiv Moscow technical director Rangnick is set to be named United manager to the end of the season.

But Kalinichenko can’t see how the German and Cristiano Ronaldo can work together: “I don’t even know who I feel more sorry for, Rangnik, who will try to build his favourite pressure, or Cristiano, who is simply an outsider in this very component.

“How will the coach get out of the situation in which he, like the main star, simply does not fit the tactics. And not only does not fit, but absolutely flies out of it. By all parameters and pressure metrics, Cristiano is one of the worst in the league.

“It’s very interesting how Rangnick will get out of this stalemate. Putting Ronaldo in the lineup, the whole system and all the work in the cycle will collapse. Do not deliver, you get an angry star and a mess in the locker room. Well, there is another, fantastic scenario in which Cristiano will begin to do everything that the German says. Then I will definitely say that Ronaldo is cooler than (Lionel) Messi.”

Rangnick reportedly influenced Carrick to bench Ronaldo

Former Manchester United captain, Gary Neville, has suggested that incoming interim manager, Ralf Rangnick, was responsible for Michael Carrick’s decision to drop Cristiano Ronaldo against Chelsea on Sunday.

Carrick took the bold decision to drop the 36-year-old, but claimed it was merely a move to “freshen up the team”.

However, Neville feels it is a sign of things to come when Rangnick takes over at Old Trafford.

“I’ve a feeling the the incoming manager has picked that team as it’s a huge departure from midweek and what they’ve been doing.”
