UFC legend Khabib reveals why Ronaldo left Juventus

Cristiano Ronaldo quit Juventus for Manchester United last week because he was “bored with Italian football”.

That’s according to good friend and UFC fighter Khabib Nurmagomedov.

Nurmagomedov is in regular touch with Ronaldo and insists he was aware of his plans to leave for United a month before the move was confirmed.

Nurmagomedov has since expanded on the messaging with Ronaldo, revealing to Sport24: “I don’t want to reveal any personal messages… Ronaldo told me that he was bored in Italy and wanted to return to England.

“I’m not a fan of Italian football, in the Premier League any team can put on a show.”

Ronaldo will finish EPL top goalscorer this season – Robbie Keane

Robbie Keane has dismissed talk of Manchester United signing Cristiano Ronaldo being past his best.

Ronaldo departed Old Trafford for Real Madrid in 2009 at 24 years of age and went on to win several World Player of the Year awards amongst Champions League and Spanish title wins.

Asked about claims he was past his best, Keane said: “His mentality is completely different and the reason why he’s still playing at 36 years of age, the reason why he’s in that unbelievable shape.

“Unfortunately he scored two goals in the last few minutes against Ireland, which was gutting for me, but that just goes to show how good he is and how important he is to Portugal and obviously now to Man Utd.

“I’ve got no doubt he could finish top goalscorer in the Premier League.”

Ronaldo on No7 shirt: A huge thank you to Cavani

Cristiano Ronaldo has thanked Edinson Cavani for giving up his Manchester United No7 shirt.

The Premier League has granted United special dispensation, allowing the new recruit to claim the No7 shirt, with Cavani switching to the No21 shirt following the deadline day exit of Daniel James to Leeds.

Now that United have officially confirmed that Ronaldo will wear the No7 shirt this season, the former Real Madrid man has thanked Cavani for his willingness to give him his preferred shirt number.

“I wasn’t sure if it would be possible to have the number seven shirt again,” Ronaldo said. “So I would like to say a huge thank you to Edi (Cavani) for this incredible gesture.”

What Ronaldo told me before Man Utd move – UFC legend Khabib

UFC legend Khabib Nurmagomedov says that Cristiano Ronaldo knew he was going to Manchester United one month ago.

The Red Devils completed the signing of Ronaldo from Juventus in the final days of the transfer window.

News of his return to Old Trafford was not made public until late last week, while reports in England and Italy suggested he may even go to Manchester City or Paris-Saint Germain.

Khabib said to RT about the Ronaldo to United transfer: “A month ago, he told me he was moving to United.

“I expected this deal to take place. I think that United is more suitable for him than Juventus. For me, the transition was not a surprise.”

Khabib added: “We talk many times – almost every day – but when we met we had a conversation about where we got our motivation from.

“He told me that he wants his son to be his successor. When Cristiano was a kid, he could only dream of having a simple pair of boots.

“But now his son has everything. He fears that his son will not feel the same hunger, the same will.

“People are guided by that will; feel the desire to achieve things. When you have everything, it’s hard to find the right motivation.

“When he told me that, I’m not going to say I was surprised, but I enjoyed listening to him. I realised he is a person not content with one, two or three titles.”

EPL: Man Utd reveal Ronaldo jersey number

Cristiano Ronaldo will wear the number seven shirt for Manchester United, the club has confirmed.

The 36-year-old takes the number, which he wore in his first stint at Old Trafford, from Uruguay striker Edinson Cavani – who moves to number 21.

Ronaldo will begin training with the Reds when he has completed five days isolation.

On Thursday, he was released early from international duty by Portugal because of suspension.

“I wasn’t sure if it would be possible to have the number seven shirt again, so I would like to say a huge thank you to Edi [Cavani] for this incredible gesture,” Ronaldo said.

“The Portuguese superstar famously wore the legendary shirt number during his first spell at United and we can now confirm that Ronaldo will have it on his back once again,” United said on their website.

Ronaldo completed a shock move back to Old Trafford on transfer deadline day and is in line to make his second debut for the Red Devils against Newcastle in the Premier League on Saturday, 11 September.

Ronaldo became the all-time leading men’s international goalscorer with two goals against the Republic of Ireland on Tuesday, but was booked by the referee for removing his shirt.

Ronaldo scored two late headers to take his tally to 111 for Portugal, surpassing the record previously held by Ali Daei, who scored 109 goals for Iran between 1993 and 2006.

Ronaldo Breaks All-Time International Scoring Record With 110th Portugal Goal

Cristiano Ronaldo broke the all-time international goalscoring record with his 110th Portugal goal and then scored an injury-time winner to salvage his country a dramatic 2-1 World Cup qualifying victory over the Republic of Ireland in Faro on Wednesday.

The 36-year-old Ronaldo, whose return to Manchester United from Juventus was confirmed on Tuesday, had missed a penalty in the 15th minute before John Egan gave Ireland a half-time lead.

But Ronaldo equalised in the 89th minute with a header, before outjumping the Irish defence again in the sixth minute of added time.

He passes Ali Daei, who scored 109 international goals, after equalling the Iranian great’s record tally during Euro 2020.

Portugal sit top of Group A with 10 points from four matches, although Serbia are only three points behind with a game in hand.

The group winners qualify automatically for the finals in Qatar, with the runners-up heading into the play-offs.

Ireland are still only above bottom team Azerbaijan after three defeats, including a humiliating 1-0 home loss to Luxembourg in March.

Luxembourg claimed a second win in World Cup qualifying for the first time in their history in the day’s other match, beating the Azeris 2-1.

Ronaldo was gifted the perfect opportunity to take the record on his own early on after Jeff Hendrick was adjudged to have tripped Bruno Fernandes.

The referee was asked by VAR to have a second look on the pitchside monitor, but he stuck with his original decision after a lengthy delay.

  • Ronaldo tops English football deals on deadline day

Ronaldo tops English football deals on deadline day

Cristiano Ronaldo’s Manchester United return was the stand-out highlight on deadline day on Tuesday as the English transfer window closed.

His move from Juventus was teed-up on Friday.

Juventus had said then that Manchester United had agreed to pay 17.7 million dollars for their former forward, with the deal potentially rising by a further 9.4 million dollars.

The Red Devils said later the Portugal forward had signed a two-year contract with the option for a third.

His arrival meant Wales winger Daniel James headed from Manchester United to Leeds United —- two and a half years after a move from Swansea broke down.

Leeds United said he had signed a five-year contract.

Juventus have moved quickly to replace Ronaldo, bringing Everton’s Moise Kean back to the club on a two-year loan.

Juventus said the loan would be turned into a permanent deal subject to certain conditions being met over the course of the next two years.

The Toffees replaced Kean by bringing Salomon Rondon back to the Premier League from Chinese club Dalian Professional on a free transfer.

The striker has signed a two-year contract with the option for a third season and the move sees him reunited with manager Rafael Benitez, who he worked under at Newcastle United.

Tottenham completed the signing of right-back Emerson Royal from FC Barcelona on a five-year deal and announced they have terminated the contract of defender Serge Aurier by mutual consent.

Across north London, Arsenal announced they have signed defender Takehiro Tomiyasu on a long-term deal from Bologna.

The Gunners have also sent Hector Bellerin and Reiss Nelson out on season-long loans to Real Betis and Feyenoord respectively.

West Ham have strengthened their squad ahead of a busy season which will take in Europa League action, with the signing of Croatia forward Nikola Vlasic.

The 23-year-old —- known to Premier League fans for a short stint at Everton —- has 26 caps and six goals for his country.

He joins from CSKA Moscow, having been named Russian Premier League player of the year in 2020.

Across London, Crystal Palace completed the signing of forward Odsonne Edouard from Celtic.

Newcastle United meanwhile brought in Mexican striker Santiago Munoz.

The U.S-born 19-year-old has joined the Magpies from Santos Laguna on an initial 18-month loan deal with an option to make the move permanent.

But it is a story which bears an uncanny resemblance to the plot of the film “Goal!”.

Brighton have signed Getafe left-back Marc Cucurella.

The 23-year-old has become Brighton’s third window signing, following Enock Mwepu and Kjell Scherpen through the doors at the Amex Stadium.

Burnley announced the signing of Wales full-back Connor Roberts from Swansea, the 25-year-old joining on a four-year deal for an undisclosed fee.

Leicester City midfielder Dennis Praet will meanwhile spend the rest of the season on loan at Serie A side Torino.

The English FA Cup winners took Ademola Lookman on loan from RB Leipzig.
