Antonio Rudiger wants parity with his Chelsea teammates, reports have claimed.

The German defender has rejected Chelsea’s latest contract offer, with his current deal set to expire in 2022.

The Blues put forward a deal worth £140,000-a-week, according to The Telegraph, which is a £40,000 increase on his current salary.

But Rudiger wants at least double that amount and knows he could get it by signing elsewhere as a free agent.

The 28-year-old is also aware that a number of his Chelsea teammates are already earning over £200,000-a-week, including Romelu Lukaku, N’Golo Kante and Timo Werner.

PSG, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid have all been linked with Rudiger.

Antonio Rudiger is demanding Chelsea double his current deal for him to stay.

That’s according to BILD football chief Christian Falk.

Rudiger is now inside the final 12 months of his current contract, with talks over a new agreement running for several months.

Currently on €5.5m-a-year, Rudiger wants Chelsea to double that to stay, reports Falk.

Among clubs keeping watch on developments are PSG and Real Madrid.

Real Madrid are the latest team to show an interest in Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger.

The German is in the last year of his contract, as his current deal expires in the summer of 2022.

Real have now joined Bayern Munich in the race to sign Rudiger in the summer, according to reports in Spain.

Considering his contract situation, the centre-back can even speak to teams about a pre-contract in January.

Chelsea are still hopeful about tying him down to a new contract, but his wage demands are thought to be an issue.

Rudiger is a key member of Thomas Tuchel’s five-man defence at present.

  • Tuchel turned Rudiger into EPL’s best defender – Ferdinand

Tuchel turned Rudiger into EPL’s best defender – Ferdinand

Rio Ferdinand believes Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has turned Antonio Rudiger into the Premier League’s best defender.

Rudiger was on the outer at Stamford Bridge under Frank Lampard, who was replaced by Thomas Tuchel in February.

The German has since become one of Tuchel’s most important players, and Ferdinand puts him up there with Manchester City star Ruben Dias.

“Frank’s respectful and I think he’s honest enough to know and would say Tuchel has done an amazing job,” Ferdinand told FIVE.

“But at the same time I’m sure Frank’s sitting there thinking, ‘well I didn’t see these certain players performing like this when I was there’.

“But then it’s about Frank looking at himself, looking at his tenure there, did he approach things the right way. I’m sure he’s doing all this, he’s looking at, ‘Could I have handled this situation better, could I have handled that player better?

“That’s what Frank will be going through and he’ll be looking to make sure he rights the wrongs from his time at Chelsea.

“But you can’t do anything but respect and pay homage to what Tuchel has done.

“Look at Rudiger, he’s arguably since Tuchel has been there [at Chelsea], been the best defender in the Premier League. Him or [Ruben] Dias in that time. He’s been unbelievable, he’s like an animal.”

Euro 2020: Pogba defends Rudiger over biting allegation

Manchester United star Paul Pogba has claimed Antonio Rudiger “nibbled” him during France’s win against Germany but does not want the defender to be banned over the incident.

The two players battled it out as France defeated Germany 1-0 in their opening group game of Euro 2020.

An own goal from Mats Hummels settled the game.

During the clash, video footage showed an incident where Rudiger appeared to try and bite Pogba in the back during a physical altercation.

“With Tony, we are friends,” said Pogba post-game.

“This was nothing big. I think you saw the TV pictures, this is all over, this belongs to the past, I’m not crying for yellow or red cards for such actions.

“He nibbled, I think, a little bit on me, but we’ve known each other for a long time.

“He hasn’t received any card, I think it’s better like this. I don’t want him to be suspended because of such a situation. At the end of the match we hugged each other and that’s it.”

Euro 2020: France stronger than Germany only on paper – Rudiger

Antonio Rudiger says France are stronger than Germany only on paper ahead of their Group F Euro 2020 opening tie on Tuesday.

Les Blues are among the favourites for this year’s European Championship.

The reigning FIFA World Cup champions have added Karim Benzema to an already star-studded attack, which includes Kylian Mbappe and Antoine Griezmann.

Many are tipping Didier Deschamps men to win the competition with their bolstered forward line.

Their group at Euro 2020, though, includes the Germans and Portugal, who won the 2016 competition, beating France in the final, while Hungary make up the numbers.
But Rudiger isn’t paying attention to the hype.

“France look stronger on paper, but that’s just on paper,” Rudiger told a press conference.

“They can be favourites for all I care, they obviously have great forwards. We need to dig deep and show what we’re made of. We’re ready.”

Rudiger, and teammates Timo Werner and Kai Havertz, had a tremendous end to the season with glory in Portugal with Chelsea but he’s insisted all players are going to be import for Joachim Low’s side.

He added: “Whether you’re from Bayern or Chelsea doesn’t matter, every player is important.

“Obviously we had a good end to the season, which can help us here.”

Champions League winner prepared to leave London club

Champions League winner Toni Rudiger is prepared to leave Chelsea this summer.

Rudiger joined the London club from Roma in 2017 and quickly turned into one of the team’s key figures in defence but his current contract runs out on June 2022.

The Athletic reports the centre-back is in no rush to discuss his future at Stamford Bridge because he wishes to focus on Euro 2020 where he represents Germany.

But the 28-year-old also understands that whatever contract he signs next will probably be his career’s last big one.

Therefore, the Germany international wants a four-year deal that would make him one of Chelsea’s top 10 earners.

Rudiger is currently outside the top 10 even though he has played a major role in the Blues’ recent success.

Rudiger texts De Bruyne after Champions League clash, apologizes

Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger has revealed he has contacted Kevin De Bruyne to apologise for their collision in the Champions League final on Saturday.

Manchester City star De Bruyne had to be withdrawn from the clash – which his side lost 1-0 – after he was bodychecked by Rudiger.

De Bruyne later revealed he had suffered a fractured nose and eye socket.

And Rudiger says it was never his intention to hurt the Belgium midfielder.

The German posted on Twitter: “I’m really sorry for DeBruyneKev’s injury.

“Of course this was not intentional from me – I’ve already been in touch with Kevin personally and I really wish him a speedy recovery and hope we can see him back on the pitch very soon again.”

  • Why I considered leaving Chelsea last summer – Rudiger

Why I considered leaving Chelsea last summer – Rudiger

Chelsea defender Toni Rudiger admits he seriously considered leaving last summer.

Rudiger found himself out of favour under former boss Frank Lampard and Tottenham and Paris Saint Germain were keen to sign him before his revival under Thomas Tuchel.

Rudiger told the Mirror: “When you look back to the summer, there were points I wanted to leave.

“Because if you think about my age, what’s coming up this summer, the Euros and everything, I didn’t see myself in the squad for one month so my first thought was to leave.

“It was kind of close, there were serious talks but it didn’t happen.

“Then I stayed, I had a chat with Frank and then I was back in the squad. I got some game time and then towards the end of Lampard’s reign, I started to play a bit more.

“Then I said to myself: ‘OK, let’s see what happens.’ Then my mindset was to work my way back, the change came and things went well and my relationship with Thomas Tuchel is normal and there’s a respect there which is how it should be.

“At the end of the day, the coach has his vision of football and how he wants us to perform and he backs it 1,000 per cent. You can see it on the sidelines. It’s like a tunnel vision, he has things in his mind and he wants us to perform like that.”

Rudiger makes contract talks decision at Chelsea

Chelsea defender Toni Rudiger has made a decision about new contract talks.

The Daily Star says Rudiger is set to end the uncertainty over his Chelsea future by signing a new deal with the club.

Rudiger, who is about to enter the final year of his current contract, almost quit last summer after being sidelined.

But the Germany defender has since become a key man under Thomas Tuchel and sources close to the player have now signalled he wants to stay.

Rudiger wants to wait until the end of the season to hold talks, but both sides expect them to be formality.

Frozen out under Frank Lampard, the 28-year-old underlined how important he is to Tuchel in Tuesday night’s win over Leicester.

Rudiger scored the opener in a 2-1 win and his role in sticking up for team-mate Mason Mount during a mass confrontation did not go unnoticed either.
