Jaiye Kuti reacts to rumoured affair with Pasuma

Veteran actress, Jaiye Kuti has opened up on her rumoured affair with Fuji artiste, Pasuma. The role interpreter said she was shocked when she heard the viral rumour that she was married to popular fuji artiste, Wasiu Alabi, aka Pasuma.

Kuti made this known as a guest at Inspire Nigeria Summit, a virtual summit held to motivate young Nigerians.

On how she reacts to rumours being spread about her, the actress said, “There was a time I shot a movie with Pasuma. We had a wedding (in the movie) and the pictures were out there. The next thing I saw in the press was that ‘Jaiye Kuti marries Pasuma’. People did not even go to the body of the story to read what was actually there. They just saw the headline and concluded that I had really married Pasuma. When one wants to be great in life, people would say bad things about one. People could say things that could kill one instantly. The beauty of it is that one has one’s legs and one can keep going.

“People that are spreading rumours about one won’t grow. I have heard shocking stories about me. Some people said I gave birth to Mayowa and Temitope Kuti and their father was Pasuma. I don’t have the time to start explaining to everybody that we were only making a movie. I don’t explain things to people. When they greet me, they tell me to extend greetings to Pasuma, and I tell them that I will. When last did I see Pasuma? He was paid to work and he left. Rumours are part of what we live on. It is part of what makes us what we are. One has to be strong to take it. It is like an arrow shot at one. One should not let it kill one; rather, one has to keep going.”

  • Sheriff´s planned return to APC a “rumour” – Chairman

The Chairman All Progressives Congress (APC) in Borno State, Ali Dolori, has described alleged defection of former factional chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Ali Modu Sheriff to the APC as a rumour.

He said this in a statement on Thursday in Abuja, while reacting to the development.

I want to assure you that the news remains a rumour, because somebody is only trying to fly a kite that is capable of causing dangerous confusion during the state congress.

We are aware of the well-articulated plan and we are ready to defend any attempt toward destroying our party at the ward level and in any state not just Borno.

We shall conduct our congresses peacefully without any rancour and I assure you that nobody can create any faction for our party in Borno during the congress expected to hold in less than two weeks,” he said.

He noted that article 9.1 of the party´s 2014 amended Constitution was specific that application “for membership shall be made to and cleared by the party´s ward executives in the Local Government Area where the person was born, resides, works or originates’’.

The section the chairman further said “online registration shall also be acceptable provided that it was cleared by the party´s National Working Committee.

Where an application is refused, the applicant may as of right appeal to the Local Government Area Executive Committee of the party or to the National Secretary or National Chairman in case of online registration.

I, therefore, don’t see any how the party´s national chairman can receive any person into the party when the constitution is clear about the process in that regard,” he said.

Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State has denied rumours making the rounds in the social media that he has dumped the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA for a yet to be named political party, describing it as falsehood.

The release which was signed by Prince Oliver Okpala, the governor’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Strategic Communications said there was no truth in the rumour, ascribing it to the opposition, who he said were eager to distract the governor from the good work he is doing in the state.

Okpala said, “I hereby state for proper public enlightenment and information that Governor Willie Obiano remains a strong card carrying member of APGA and also still remains the chairman of the Party’s Board of Trustees and Leader of the Party .”

He continued that the governor has never contemplated dumping APGA for any other party, and still stands on his unshakable desire and commitment of seeking re-election as Governor under the platform of his party, APGA.

He said, “This present rumour circulating is no doubt the hand work of the opposition who have no genuine political programme or economic agenda for Ndi Anambra State. This rumour is sailing only in the figment of the imagination of the opposition.
