Nigerians don’t appreciate me enough – Burna Boy

Grammy award-winning Nigerian artiste, Damini Ogulu, popularly known as  Burna Boy, has explained that Nigerians are not appreciative of him enough despite making the country proud on the local and international stage.

According to him, Nigerians prefer to spread rumours about him rather than appreciate him for the good things he is doing musically for the country.

Burna Boy said some persons speculated that his mother was one of the dancers of the late Afrobeat pioneer, Fela Kuti, and that impotency might be the reason he doesn’t have a baby mama like most of his colleagues.

The ‘It’s plenty’ crooner, whose maternal grandfather, Benson Idonije, was Fela Kuti’s first manager, also lashed out at Nigerians for speculating that the June 8, 2022, incident where his police escorts allegedly shot at one Ms. Steph Briella, her partner, and her best friend at Club Cubana, Victoria Island, Lagos, was because he wanted to snatch her from her partner.

The self-styled “African Giant” said this on “Thanks”, a J.Cole feature from his seventh studio album, “I Told Them,” which was released on Thursday night.

He sings: “Is this the m*ing thanks I get for making my people proud, every chance I get?

“It’s okay, I get. This Naija no love.

“They say my mama dance for Fela.

“They say I no get baby mama.

“They say I shoot person for Cubana because I want collect person woman…
Is this the m***ing thanks I get? For making my people proud, every chance I get.”

Divorce rumours: I feel terrible, frustrated -Foluke Daramola Salako

Actress and philanthropist, Foluke Daramola- Salako, has reacted to viral online reports claiming their marriage has hit the rocks.

The role interpreter said she feels terrible, adding that the only thing society wants to read about is celebrity scandals.

Speaking in a chat with Punch, Salako said:”I feel so terrible and frustrated when in a society, the only thing we ever want to read about and celebrate is scandal and marriage break-up. I don’t know why some people are just devilish and may be depressed to the extent they feel that there’s a need for them to just sit somewhere and write rubbish at the detriment of someone who has been building her name for a long time. They want to dent my image without thinking of the repercussion of their actions. I think that we’re in a very terrible society where we only celebrate negativity and scandals. I don’t know why some disgruntled elements will just feel a need to want to continue to rubbish and drag my marriage in the mud. It is so preposterous and annoying”.

Speaking further, she added that it is a price to pay for being a celebrity.

“Unfortunately, it is a price to pay for being a celebrity in this part of the world. I grew up understanding the culture and sanctity of marriage. I grew up understanding the reason why one has to be responsible to be in a man’s house. I understand that’s the culture in Nigeria. But in recent times, I found out that there are disgruntled elements who are hell-bent on spoiling a good name for whatever reason
