    Ruth Kadiri reacts as YouTube names her among top Nigerian female creators

    Ruth Kadiri, a Nollywood actress and filmmaker, has been recognized by YouTube as one of the four female creators shaping the platform into a hub for cultural storytelling and global connection.

    The Nigerian filmmaker who’s often referred to as the queen of YouTube in the Nigerian film industry was honoured alongside food entrepreneur Ify Mogekwu, popularly known as Ify’s Kitchen; skit maker and actress Oluwabukunmi Adeaga-Ilori, aka Kiekie and show host Eniola Olanrewaju, better known as Korty.

    Reacting to the honour in an Instagram post, Ruth expressed gratitude to God for the gift and grace. She wrote: “The other day, YouTube celebrated its 20th anniversary and I had the surreal honor of being recognized as one of four female creators who are redefining the boundaries of creativity, and shaping YouTube into a beacon for cultural storytelling and global connection.

    “To be named one of the top female YouTubers in Nigeria is something I never imagined when I first started sharing my passion for movie making with the world. What began as a simple desire to tell stories has grown into something far beyond my expectations.

    “I’m deeply grateful to God for the grace, the gift, and the growth. Thank you to @youtube for this incredible recognition, and thank you my amazing community for walking this journey with me. I love you all.”

    Ruth Kadiri slams producers who mount pressure on actors

    Nollywood actress cum film maker, Ruth Kadiri has urged her colleagues in the movie industry not to succumb to the pressure from producers.

    The mother of two via her Instagram page on Tuesday noted that any producer who requires one million  from entertainers in the movie industry in one day has failed. Kadiri noted how a good production requires more than one’s face.

    The prominent film maker avowed that one million views isn’t a standard of success or failure. She admonished her colleagues not to allow the ignorance of producers to rub off their joy.

    Throwing shades, she added that the producers who don’t invest in anyone are the ones with the most nonsense to say about others.

    She wrote: “Dear Nollywood actors!!! Take the pressure off your shoulder!!

    Any producer who requires one million views from you in one day has failed! A good production requires more than your face!

    One million views is not a standard of success or failure. So much y’all don’t know about YouTube. Don’t let their ignorance rob you of your joy!

    The ones who never invest in anyone are the ones with the most NONSENSE to say about others!”.

    Nigerian Actress and producer Ruth Kadiri has revealed why she doesn’t depend on people in the industry.

    According to her, she stands out because of her creative spirit which is why she doesn’t feel disturbed if people in the industry don’t assist her.

    The director made this statement in a post on her verified Instagram profile.

    “The way my brain functions!!!! I ask myself what would become of my BRAND if I had no promotional help from someone!!! Truthfully I don’t bank on anyone so when you choose not to offer help I’m really not bothered.

    “I’ll change the pattern in Nigerian cinema, I promise you all! You’ll watch my movie not because someone begged you to watch it! But because you Trust ME! I’m here to build a brand of longevity that definitely doesn’t require constant begging!

    “I Ruth Kadiri isn’t in a hurry don’t worry about that! Building a solid structure is all I’m about! So when you see that opening credit that has my eye on it! You know your money/data is never gonna be wasted.”

    Popular Nollywood actress, Ruth Kadiri has raised alarm over the unavailability of vaccines for babies in hospitals as she implores the government to look into the issue.

    Ruth Kadiri took to her Instagram page to reveal that her daughter had gone more than a year without receiving vaccination since hospitals are still experiencing a scarcity of necessary vaccinations.

    Kadiri urged the federal government to act quickly to resolve this urgent vaccination issue and guarantee that all infants receive the required shots.

    She wrote: “My nurse just informed me there are no vacancies for babies at the hospital! Mothers are you facing the same vaccination issues?

    “Federal Government, please look into this. My daughter needs her immunisation. Over one year and counting. Help our babies o!”

    Nollywood actress and producer, Ruth Kadiri has issued a stern warning to her colleagues to desist from using her artiste in their movies.

    The filmmaker, renowned for her exquisite production and distribution of movies on YouTube, via her Instagram story, stated that they should either grow their channel organically or groom their own artists.

    She said:

    “IF YOU KNOW YOU’RE ONE OF THOSE BUYING VIEWS ON YOUTUBE! STOP CALLING MY ARTIST!!

    Nollywood Actress Ruth Kadiri has said she does not post material things on social media pages.

    She disclosed this after dismissing a viral picture of a new house circulate shared on Facebook claiming to be hers.

    The mother of two stressed that the mansion in the viral picture was from a movie location and doesn’t belong to her.

    Unlike some of her colleagues in the movie industry who flaunt their new acquisitions, like cars or houses, on social media, Ruth takes an exception to that.

    The screen goddess has learnt to keep her life private.

    She wrote: “This is a fake Facebook page. I do not own that house. It’s a film location. I do not post material things on social media. Pls report that page My Facebook page is verified”.

    TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports that Kadiri is also a screenwriter and film producer. She was born on 24 March 1988 as the first child of two children.

    She studied Mass Communication at the University of Lagos and Business Administration at Yaba College of Technology. The actress kept her love life private until December 2017, when she announced that she was engaged on social media.

    On August 26, 2019, Kadiri gave birth to her first child. On July 20, 2022, she gave birth to her second child.

    Kadiri ventured into Nollywood in the movie Boys Cot[9] and since then has over fifty movies to her credit. As a screenwriter, Ruth Kadiri has written and co-written several movies including Matters Arising, Heart of a Fighter, Ladies Men, Sincerity, First Class and Over the Edge.

    Kadiri also produced films such as Matters Arising, Over the Edge, Somebody Lied and Memory Lane, which deals with the issue of lies and deceit.

    Nollywood actress and politician, Funke Akindele, has expressed gratitude to her colleague, Ruth Kadiri, for showing her support.

    Since unveiling her political project, Funke has received less support from her colleagues since her emergence as the deputy governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State.

    While some of her colleagues camp with the Labour Party and the incumbent governor of Lagos who is running for a second term, Ruth has shown her support for Funke.

    The mother of two had endorsed Funke for Deputy Governor of Lagos under the PDP Umbrella.

    The actress took to her Instagram page to state reasons for supporting the actress-turned-politician.

    She qualified Funke as being hardworking, tough, emotional and so on

    Funke starred in the sitcom I Need to Know from 1998 to 2002, and in 2009, she won the Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role. She rose to fame for her role in the movie titled Jenifa which earned her the nickname Jenifa.

    The Omo Ghetto trilogy contributed to her fame. Funke Akindele played the lead role in the show Jenifa’s Diary, for which she was named the Best Actress in a Comedy at the 2016 Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards.

    Again, at the 2020 and 2022 AMVCA, she took home the same award, making it her third win for the Best Actress in a Comedy category.

    Funke is the most nominated actress at the AMVCA and currently owns seven AMVCA which makes her the actress with most win at the AMVCA.

    She is the second director to gross over a billion at the box office with movies like Your ExcellencyOmo Ghetto: The Saga and most recent Battle on Buka Street.

    In 2022, she was nominated by the People’s Democratic Party gubernatorial candidate, Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran, as the running mate for the 2023 Lagos state governorship election.

    A number of Nigerian celebrities have voiced their displeasure over the directive to release Nollywood actor, Olarenwaju James, aka Baba Ijesha, who allegedly molested a 14-year-old girl under the care of popular comedienne, Princess.

    The Lagos State Police Command had ordered that the suspect be released because there is no defilement case against him, and the court cannot sit due to the ongoing strike by members of the Judicial Staff Union of Nigeria.

    In her reaction, Iyabo Ojo said:” They said he just touched her inappropriately so touching a minor inappropriately is not sexual assault, I weep for this country”.

    Another actress and filmmaker, Ruth Kadiri in her reaction said children have no rights in Nigeria.

    “In Nigeria, children have no rights, there are no laws guiding them. This is no place to raise your kids. Even the people in power, some of them are pedophiles . Keep your young ones safe. Be guarded”.

    Outspoken media personality, Shade Ladipo has slammed Ruth Kadiri over calling out the organizers of a recent award ceremony for snubbing her contributions to Nollywood.

    Ladipo made this known via her Instagram Stories on Thursday, April 15, 2020.

    “For the actress (atink it was Ruth Kadiri because there are so many ‘actresses’ now) who didn’t get recognised this year. Remember that last year there was no platform to even be recognised so instead of being bitter, be better now there is a platform and maybe next year will be your year or maybe not,” she wrote.

    “Let’s give Mo Abudu her flowers while she is alive abeg. Every platform this woman has, she uses to celebrate women constantly. Celebrate with others and maybe they will celebrate with you.”

     

    TheNewsGuru recalls that Kadiri called out the organizers of Eko Star Film & TV awards for not recognising her at the just concluded award ceremony honouring women in Nollywood.

    The award ceremony held on Monday, April 12 and honoured female filmmakers and actresses. Some of the awardees include Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, Funke Akindele, Emem Isong Emodi, Omoni Oboli, Toyin Abraham, Sola Sobowale and others.
