I always look up to Sadio Mane – Lookman

Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman has revealed the player he looks up to in style of play.

The Spuer Eagles star said that his game style has been patterned after Senegalese forward, Sadio Mane.

Lookman played for Charlton Athletic, Everton, RB Leipzig, Fulham and Leicester City before moving to Serie A side Atalanta.

He joined Atalanta for a fee in the region of nine million euros paid to Leipzig at the start of the 2022-2023 season.

He has scored 24 goals and made 12 assists from 65 all-competition appearances.

“The guy who I always looked at the most would have to be Sadio Mane,” Lookman told The Athletic.

“Looking at his threat in the box, his threat in those little tight spaces, his movement — I have watched a lot of his game in particular.

“I watch my clips back, and it’s nice to be able to see your performance from a different perspective.

“It gives you more belief in knowing that you’re getting better and developing in certain areas.”

Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp expresses shock as Mane pitches tent with Al Nassr

Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp has expressed shock over Sadio Mane’s transfer to Saudi Pro League side, Al Nassr FC.

Klopp is surprise at Mane’s decision to join  Al Nassr after just a year at German side, Bayern Munich.

Mane left Anfield last summer after seven years to sign for the Bundesliga giants.

Bayern paid around £34million for the Senegal winger, who had just won two trophies for the Reds, finishing runners-up in the Premier League and finalists in the Champions League.

However, Mane’s single season turned into a nightmare as Bayern switched managers, and he had a public bust-up with team-mate Leroy Sane.

Mane has now put pen-to-paper on a £650,000-a-week deal with Al Nassr.

“I don’t know what went wrong [at Bayern].

“When he left us, he left us on a high in really good shape, a world class player.

“New environment, new expectations maybe. I didn’t speak to Sadio about it,” Klopp said.

Saudi Pro League: Sadio Mane joins Cristiano Ronaldo at Al-Nassr

Senegal forward, Sadio Mane has left Bayern Munich to join Cristiano Ronaldo at Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr.

The winger scored 12 goals in 38 games for the German champions in an injury-hit season for his new club.

Reports suggest Bayern have recouped the majority of the £35m they paid Liverpool for the forward a year ago.

Bayern CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen said the former Southampton player had not had an “easy year” since moving from Anfield.

“He was not able to contribute to as much as we all and he himself had hoped,” said Dreesen.

“That’s why we decided together he would start a new chapter in his career and make a fresh start at another club.”

Earlier on Tuesday Bayern manager Thomas Tuchel said he and Mane agreed “it was the best solution to untie the knot”.

“We had a long, big hug and we both agreed we don’t like what’s happening now, but we think it’s for the best in this situation,” said the Bayern coach.

“Sometimes things don’t work out as everybody wants. I have always had a very good relationship with him and this will stay.

“I can totally understand he feels hurt and I also wouldn’t feel happy if things like this happened.

“Obviously it’s something that we didn’t bring into the full potential, which is my responsibility, but in this particular situation it was the best solution to untie the knot.”

Bayern Munich is keen to offload Mane this summer following a miserable debut season and a troubled campaign, where he has only scored 12 goals.

The Senegalese international only joined Bayern Munich last summer in a £27.4 million deal from Liverpool.

The 31-year-old had been viewed as a marquee summer signing by the Bundesliga champions, having starred in the Premier League for Liverpool.
In due course other EPL sides will be joining in the race to sign the forward.

Chelsea ready as Bayern Munich set Mane price

Bayern Munich are considering letting Sadio Mane leave the club when the season concludes.

The Senegal winger has not enjoyed the spell at Bayern that he was hoping to experience when he signed last summer from Liverpool.

Mane has looked a shadow of his former self, with the 31-year-old failing to live up to his hype as the replacement for Robert Lewandowski.

After signing in a £35 million deal, Mane has not scored enough goals and has issues with his teammates.

Per Bild, a big enough offer would convince Bayern to part with Mane and rebuild their front line.

The source adds that Chelsea may be looking to bring him back to England.

  • Why Mane punched Sane – Arsene Wenger

Why Mane punched Sane – Arsene Wenger

Former Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger has revealed why Senegal and Bayern forward, Mane punched teammate Sane after last week’s first leg tie with Manchester City.

According to Wenger,  a breakdown in “communication” and “trust” led to Sadio Mane punching Leroy Sane in a dressing room bust-up.

Mane hit his team-mate in the face after Bayern Munich’s 3-0 defeat to City in the Champions League quarter-final first leg at the Etihad last week.

The Senegal forward was then dropped for their 1-1 draw with Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga and fined more than £250,000.

“You have to create trust and communication inside the dressing room.

“Most of the time when you have this problem with two players, you take them into the office and you explain to them that ‘we cannot be successful if the players inside the team do not cooperate well together’,” Wenger said on beINSPORT.

    Bayern Munich suspend Sadio Mane

Bayern Munich have suspended Senegal international Sadio Mane for their Bundesliga game against Hoffenheim, the club said on Thursday

“Sadio Mane will not be included in the Bayern Munich squad for this Saturday’s home match against Hoffenheim.

“This is due to his misconduct after Bayern Munich’s 2022/2023 UEFA Champions League match at Manchester City on Tuesday,” the club said in a statement.

German media reports had it that Mane hit team-mate Leroy Sane in the face and both players had to be separated by other team-mates.

This had happened after the 0-3 loss to Manchester City in the first leg of their quarter-finals tie.

The reports added that the two already had a dispute on the pitch late in Tuesday’s game over a pass movement between them which went wrong.

Bayern Munich did not confirm the altercation between the players.

The club added that Mane would be given a fine, but did not disclose the sum.

It was also not clear whether he would be suspended for other upcoming matches.

Mane, however, joined the team’s training session in the morning.

Earlier, a report had given an indication of what happened at a Wednesday evening meeting between the club’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Oliver Kahn and board member for sport Hasan Salihamidzic.

According to the report, it was decided that the club would not prematurely end Mane’s contract, which runs until 2025.

Sane was a starter in the first leg quarter-final game while Mane came on as a substitute in the 69th minute.

Bayern Munich face a big challenge in the return leg next week if they want to advance.

The Senegal international joined Bayern Munich from Liverpool in July 2022, as the club hoped he could replace Robert Lewandowski, who moved to FC Barcelona last summer.

Mane, however, has not been able so far to fulfill the role of top goal scorer.

Since a long-term injury which ruled him out of the FIFA World Cup in Qatar in December, he has been struggling to find his best form.

Mane ignores Salah, names Origi best finisher at Liverpool

Former Liverpool forward, Sadio Mane, has revealed the best finisher he has ever played with, snubbing Egyptian Mo Salah.

Recall that Mane moved from the English side Liverpool last season to Bayern Munich in the German Bundesliga.

The Senegalese international formed part of a lethal forward line that also included Salah and Roberto Firmino as the three players fired Liverpool to Premier League, UEFA Champions League, FA Cup and Carabao Cup glory during that period.

Salah, in particular, has grabbed a host of headlines after scoring 174 goals for the Reds and not many would have argued if the Egyptian international was the man picked by his former partner Mane.

However, after being asked by 1teamsports on TikTok to name his best finisher, Mane took a while to come up with an answer that surprised everyone.

The 30-year-old named ‘Divock Origi,’ a striker who also left Liverpool before this season started after eight years there.
