My eldest daughter happiest with new Liverpool contract – Salah

Liverpool ace Mohamed Salah admits he wants to be help bring through the club’s young players after signing a new deal today.

It was announced this morning that Salah has put pen to paper on a new contract to 2027.

And after this morning’s news, Salah told liverpoolfc.com: “It’s fantastic to be here for another two years. I’m really happy to have signed a new contract.

“We have a great team, as it has been in the past years. I chose to stay because I believe we can win more trophies and continue to enjoy my football.

“Liverpool means so much to me. I spent the best years of my career here. I have already spent eight seasons with this shirt, and I hope it will become ten. I enjoy life, football and everything that is related to this club. My family feels at home.

“Magi and the children were thrilled with the news. In particular, Makka, our eldest daughter, was the happiest: she has friends here, school, everything. The atmosphere at home was really positive after the signing.”

Salah admits he has his eyes on breaking more goalscoring records as Reds player.

He continued: “It’s great, but I’m more proud of the trophies I’ve won with the team. Goals count, of course, but what people really remember are the collective victories. Four goals to get into the top four all-time Premier League goalscorers? That would be nice. It’s not bad for a winger.

“But again, scoring is only important if the team is involved and fighting for big goals. Just individual awards, without trophies, are not enough.”

The Egypt international says he’s ready for a new role within the team, as an example for the younger players at Liverpool.

Salah also said: “I like to be a point of reference for the younger ones. I arrived here at 24, I have grown as a person and as a footballer. When young people approach me and ask questions, I am pleased. Sometimes I observe them and see myself again. I understand the pressure, but as you grow you learn to manage it.

“I don’t wake up every day thinking I am an example, but I always try to be professional, on and off the pitch. I arrive early, I train seriously. The younger guys are intelligent, they notice things and often imitate me: it works.”

On winning a second Premier League title with Liverpool, Salah says he’s ready.

He added: “I want it so much. I’ve said it since the start of the season: winning the Premier League is my goal. The fans deserve it. Last time we couldn’t celebrate as we wanted. This time we want to do it at Anfield, in the streets, together with them.”

Just in: Saudi Arabia confirms real date for sallah celebrations

Saudi Arabia has confirmed that Eid-el-Fitr will take place on Sunday.

This follows the sighting of the crescent moon marking the beginning of the Islamic month of Shawwal.

The announcement was made on Saturday through an official platform widely followed by Muslims worldwide.

Eid-el-Fitr, which signals the conclusion of Ramadan, the holy month of fasting, is a time for prayers, feasting, and giving to those in need.

It is observed by millions of Muslims around the globe.

While Saudi Arabia has set Sunday as the day for the festival, Muslims in Nigeria are traditionally expected to await the announcement from the Sultan of Sokoto, His Majesty Sultan Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, who is responsible for confirming the official end of Ramadan in the country.

Eid-el-Fitr is known for bringing families and communities together in celebration, as worshippers visit mosques, share meals, and extend kindness to the less fortunate during this joyful occasion.

EPL: Liverpool restore seven-point lead in Wolves win

Mohamed Salah continued his hot scoring streak as a nervy Liverpool dispatched Wolves 2-1 to move seven points clear at the top of the Premier League.

The Egypt forward converted from the penalty spot to make it five goals in four league games with boss Arne Slot watching on from the bench.

Reds boss Slot was given a red card in the aftermath of Liverpool’s Merseyside derby draw with Everton but the Dutchman has until Wednesday to respond to a Football Association charge.

Putting Everton’s 98th-minute mid-week equaliser behind them, the Reds started well at Anfield and opened the scoring after 15 minutes thanks to the determination of Luis Diaz.

The Colombia forward ended a run of 10 games without a goal as he bundled the ball over the line after Salah’s pass was deflected in the box by Wolves defender Toti Gomes.

Twenty two minutes later, referee Simon Hooper pointed to the spot as Diaz was felled in the box by Wolves keeper Jose Sa and Salah slotted down the middle for his 23rd league goal of the campaign.

The game looked set to be a routine Liverpool win at the break but Wolves striker Matheus Cunha made it anything but as he beautifully curled home his 12th league goal of the season in the 67th minute – meaning Slot’s side are without a home clean sheet since 1 December.

On the hour mark, Liverpool were initially awarded another spot-kick after Emmanuel Agbadou was adjudged to have fouled Diogo Jota, but the decision was overturned after a video assistant referee review showed there was no contact on the Portugal forward.

Vitor Pereira’s side missed huge chances in the second half with debutant Marshall Munetsi drawing an excellent one-on-one save out of Alisson before Joao Gomes worked space brilliantly but fired his attempt over the top.

There was a nervousness around Anfield as Wolves pushed for an equaliser late on but Liverpool held on to reinstate their seven-point lead at the summit.

There are fresh doubts over the 31-year-old’s future at Anfield after a touchline row with manager Jurgen Klopp during the 2-2 draw away to West Ham on Saturday.

“Salah is the most selfish player I have ever witnessed. Even prior to that game, whenever Klopp takes him off, he is never happy about it.’

“That is what you want from your players; if you take them off on two goals, they should want to stay on to score a third. When Sadio Mane was there, they’d fall out all the time,” Souness said.

“They’ve been a massive help to each other in all that’s been achieved at the club!”

Per The Sun, Klopp was urging Salah to shake his hand before going onto the field.

A source told the outlet: “This has happened occasionally with Jurgen and other players.

“He is very big on interaction with his subs before they go on and felt it didn’t happen at first with Mo.

I understand Salah being upset with Klopp – Shearer

Former England captain Alan Shearer has sided with Mohamed Salah in his bust-up with Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp.

Dropped to the bench for Saturday’s 2-2 draw at West Ham, Salah exchanged angry words with Klopp as he was substituted on late in the game.

Shearer later said: “We don’t know what Klopp has said to him there. He’s said something that’s riled him.

“He’s obviously got the right hump with being left out and probably rightly so, even though hasn’t hit the heights that Mo Salah has done over the years. He’s been an unbelievable player.

“He ignores Jurgen, he gives the Liverpool fans a little round of applause and goes straight down the tunnel.

“But we’re guessing as to what Jurgen said to him. I understand that if Mo has the right hump because the amount of times he’s been Liverpool’s superstar and their saviour.

“He’s got 17 goals in 25 league starts. Anyone else you’d look at that and think ‘unbelievable’. It’s a shame it’s going to end like that because of what Klopp’s done and what Salah’s done.”
