    Serie A: AC Milan manager, Paulo Fonseca hails Chukwueze over preseason heroics

    AC Milan manager, Paulo Fonseca has praised Super Eagles winger, Samuel Chukwueze for his heroics during the club’s pre season games.

    Fonseca noted that the Nigerian winger is getting better with more games.

    Recall that the Nigeria international struggled to make a positive impact at the San Siro last season following his arrival from Spanish club, Villarreal.

    Chukwueze has, however, impressed in Milan’s first two pre-season games against Manchester City and Real Madrid.

    The winger bagged two assists against Manchester City.

    The 25-year-old scored his side’s winning goal in the 1-0 victory over Real Madrid on Thursday morning.
    “Chukwuze is more confident. Last season he didn’t play much,” Fonseca was quoted by Goal.

    “When a new coach arrives it’s always like this, the players want to show off. I’m happy for Chukwueze, he’s doing very well.”

    Super Eagles winger Samuel Chukwueze has said the team has put together a winning strategy for the final of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

    TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports the Super Eagles of Nigeria will square up against Ivory Coast in the final match of the 2023 AFCON in Abidjan on Sunday.

    Chukwueze disclosed that himself and his colleagues were training hard to ensure they implemented the winning strategy on the field of play against The Elephants.

    “Actually, we have already decided to do so many things. As a team, we have all spoken about it, including the captain, the coach, and of course, the players. What remains now is for us to start training towards it,” he said.

    Chukwueze made the disclosure while speaking with newsmen after the team’s training session in Abidjan on Thursday, stressing that the team had put the semi-final victory against South Africa behind them and are now focused on the final.

    Recall Nigeria booked a berth to the AFCON final after a dramatic penalty shootout win against the Bafana Bafana of South Africa. The Super Eagles prevailed 4-2 on penalties following a captivating 1-1 draw at the end of 120 minutes.

    Hosts Cote d’Ivoire, on their part, booked a ticket to the AFCON final after beating DR Congo 1-0, thanks to Sebastien Haller’s goal.

    “We are no more in a celebration mood at the moment. We are trying to recover from the semi-final game against South Africa and focus on the final game against the host country.

    “It’s not going to be easy, and no one has told us it is going to be easy. But I believe in this team, and we have been fighting right from the start of this tournament. It is time to bring the trophy back home,” Chukwueze said.

    TNG reports all 25 players participated at the Super Eagles’ recovery training at Ecole de Police D’ Abidjan on Thursday.

    The players took part in the session which was mostly jogging and light workouts.

    The Stade Olympique Alassane-Ouattara d’Ebimpé in Abidjan will host the final of the 2023 AFCON on Sunday from 8.00 p.m.

    Nigeria winger, Samuel Chukwueze, is full of confidence that today’s semi-final clash with the Bafana Bafana of South Africa will end in  Super Eagles favour.

    Chukwueze added that the Super Eagles will get the job done without allowing it get into penalty shoot-out.

    Chukwueze said this while also dismissing the notion that South Africa goalkeeper Ronwen Williams is a penalty-saving specialist.

    Ronwen became the first goalkeeper in AFCON history to save 4 spot-kicks in South Africa’s penalty shoot-out win over Cape Verde and has kept 4 clean sheets so far, the joint-most at the tournament but Chukwueze believes Nigeria will triumph in normal time.

    “Penalty is a game of luck, anybody can miss. It is the one he [Williams] saw that he saved,” Chukwueze told Hot Sport’s Toyin Ibitoye.

    “I’m not saying he is not a good goalkeeper, he is actually a good goalkeeper, but the most important thing is for us to win in 90 minutes or 120 minutes. We will win without going into penalties.

    “It is not about being scared, it is about being on a safer side at the moment. We have been watching their clips, they are good on their own, but we will try our best and win.”

    AFCON 2023: Super Eagles Abu Dhabi camp bubbles as Nwabili, Chukwueze arrive

    The Super Eagles camp in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirate is bubbling with life with the arrival of South Africa based goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabili and AC Milan’s Samuel Chukwueze.

    A total of 19 players are in the Super Eagles camp as at today, Wednesday.

    The 19 players already in camp are Ahmed Musa,
    Kenneth ⁠Omeruo, Moses Simon, Olorunleke ⁠Ojo, Alex Iwobi, Semi Ajayi, Ola Aina, Calvin Bassey, Ademola Lookman and Joe ⁠Aribo.

    Samuel Chukwueze, Stanley Nwabili.

    The Super Eagles will travel to Cote D’Ivoire on the 10th of January.

    They will play their first game of the tournament against Equatorial Guinea on the 14th of January at the at the Ebimpe Olympic Stadium before facing hosts Ivory Coast January 18 while their last group game will be against Guinea Bissau January 22.

    Former Italy and AC Milan defender, Paulo Maldini has attacked the club for signing Super Eagles’ winger Samuel Chukwueze in the summer.

    Recall that Chukwueze, 24, joined the Rosoneri from LaLiga club, Villarreal for €30 million in July.

    The winger was in good form for Villarreal in the 2022/23 season, scoring 13 goals and providing 11 assists.

    Meanwhile few months at the San Siro, Chukwueze has, however, struggled to replicate the form with AC Milan, managing just one goal in 12 outings across all competitions.

    Maldini, who also once worked as AC Milan technical director, insisted that the player has failed to justify his massive transfer fee.

    “There was no need to sign Loftus-Cheek, Pulisic, and Chukwueze,” Maldini said in an interview with Italian news outlet La Republica.

    “You cannot compare the previous four transfer windows to the last one. Milan had different quality options, unlike this summer.”

    Chukwueze is expected to be in action when AC Milan take on Frosinone on Saturday (today).

    Samuel Chukwueze has arrived at La Madonnina clinic to undergo his medicals ahead of his move to AC Milan.

    Chukwueze, according to Football Italia, arrived at the clinic on Wednesday night.

    The 24-year-old will sign a five-year contract after completing his medicals.

    Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano in the early hours of Tuesday disclosed this while providing an update on Chukwueze’s imminent move from La Liga to Serie A.

    “AC Milan will complete Samuel Chukwueze’s deal today, it has been done since Monday for €20m fee plus €8m add-ons to Villarreal,” Romano tweeted.

    “Chukwueze will land in Milano around 1pm today. Italian centre-back Matteo Gabbia will join Villarreal on loan from AC Milan in a separate deal.”

    Villarreal and Milan reached agreement on €28million transfer fee for Chukwueze last week and both clubs exchanged documents to finalise the deal on Monday night.

    AC Milan will pay €28m including add-ons for the player.

    Chukwueze will become Milan’s seventh signing of the summer transfer window, following Marco Sportiello, Luka Romero, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Tijjani Reijnders, Christian Pulisic and Noah Okafor.

    Chukwueze had the best season of his career so far in the yellow and yellow jersey of Villarreal last season, when he scored 13 goals and bagged 11 assists.

    The Nigerian international was promoted to the Yellow Submarine’s senior team in 2018 and has gone on to make 207 appearances in all competitons with 37 goals to his name.

    He spent four years at Villarreal.

    Super Eagles and Villareal winger,  Samuel Chukwueze has been ranked 6th best dribbler in Europe’s major leagues, TheNewsGuru.com can exclusively report.

    The winger has joined Vinicius Jr (Real Madrid) and Lionel Messi (PSG) in top 10 best dribblers in the world.

    The Nigerian earned the rating, recording 86 take-ons during the recently concluded 2022/23 season with Villarreal in the Spanish LaLiga according to statistics from Squawka,

    Chukwueze, who was named the best African Player in LaLiga, scored 13 goals and added 11 assists in 50 games for Villarreal across all competitions last season.

    Real Madrid’s Vinicius Jr secured the top spot on the list, having completed an outstanding 112 take-on throughout the campaign. Lionel Messi followed closely in second place with 102 successful take-ons, while Jeremy Doku from Rennes claimed the third position with 96 take-ons completed.

    Ghana midfielder Mohammed Kudus showcased his exceptional dribbling skills to secure the fourth spot among Europe’s elite dribblers. Lee Kang-In, Samuel Chukwueze, and Jude Bellingham took the fifth, sixth, and seventh positions, respectively, solidifying their reputation as formidable dribblers.

    Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong who has Ghanaian roots secured the eighth spot, with Nico Williams from Athletic Bilbao and Ludovic Blas completing the top 10.

    However, there are reports that Chukwueze could be joining Italian giant, AC Milan ahead of next season campaign.

    Super Eagles and Villarreal winger, Samuel Chukwueze has emerged best African player in the season 2022/23.

    Chukwueze has been magnificent and displayed a lot of heroics all through the season for the Yellow submarines.

    The Nigeria international ended the season with 13 goals and 11 assists across all competitions.

    It was the 24-year-old’s most productive season since his arrival at the Estadio de la Ceramica.

    The impressive form has seen Chukwueze linked with a number of clubs in Europe including Real Madrid, Aston Villa and Newcastle United.

    The pacy winger arrived in Villarreal in 2019. The player initially played for the second team before he was promoted to the senior side.

    According to Calcio Style, Milan have other options for the right-wing position but view the Nigerian as a more realistic target.

    The player, who celebrated his 24th birthday on Monday, is valued at €20m and has one year remaining on his contract.

    Villarreal will be looking to sell Chukwueze this summer instead of losing him for free next year.

    He has notched six goals and five assists in 34 league outings for the Yellow Submarine this season.

    Samuel Chukwueze’s second goal against Real Madrid has been nominated for the La Liga goal of the week award.

    Chikwueze’s goal was nominated and announcement made on LaLiga’s Twitter handle on Wednesday.

    The left winger’s goal has been nominated alongside Sevilla left-back Marcos Acuna, Fran Garcia of Rayo Vallecano and Ez Abde of Osasuna.

    His second goal against Madrid was a long-range stunner that beat many defenders including Thibaut Courtois in goal.

    The Super Eagles forward scored two goals against Madrid in the shock win for Villarreal.

    He has now scored six goals in the Spanish men’s topflight league and has taken his tally in all competitions to 13 this season.

    The winner of the Goal of the Week award will be decided by football fans through casting of votes.
