    Villarreal winger Samuel Chukwueze says he isn’t scared of Arsenal ahead of tonight’s Europa League semi-final first leg.

    The Nigerian admits he dreams of Euro glory.

    LaLiga ambassador Chukwueze, speaking at an event for LiveScore, said: “When the time comes, it will be up to the coach and the tactics he chooses – all I need to do is just enter the field using the skills I have practiced and give everything I have.

    “We are going to play our football as normal. We are not scared or anything, we are just going to play our football as a team.

    “I’d like you to tell me that I am going to win the Europa League, just tell me that! I want to win the Europa League, thanks!”

    Samuel Chukwueze breaks Villarreal appearance record

    Super Eagles forward Samuel Chukwueze has become Villarreal’s youngest-ever footballer to feature in 100 games.

    Chukwueze reached this hallowed rank having starred in the Yellow Submarine’s 4-1 defeat of Zamora in Tuesday’s Copa del Rey encounter.

    At 21 years, seven months and 11 days, he eclipsed the record set by Argentina international and AC Milan centre back Mateo Musacchio who reached the centenary mark aged 21 years, 11 months and 20 days.

    “A record-making centenarian. Samuel Chukwueze has reached 100 games with Villarreal’s first team after starting the Copa del Rey game against Zamora CF,” wrote the LaLiga side in a statement.

    “The Nigerian forward has reached the 100-game mark (79 in LaLiga, 13 in the Europa League and eight in the Copa del Rey), aged just 21 years, seven months and 11 days, becoming the youngest player to reach this mark in official games for the Villarreal CF first team.”

  • Transfer: Lampard set to sign Samuel Chukwueze

    Villarreal winger, Samuel Chukwueze, is being linked with a move to Chelsea in the January transfer window.

    The UK Telegraph reports that Frank Lampard has a transfer budget of £150million to spend in the winter market and is eyeing offensive players.

    Chukwueze is believed to be on the list of wingers being targeted by Lampard.

    Others are Borrussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho, Crystal Palace’s Wilfried Zaha and Bayer Leverkusen’s Leon Bailey.

    Chukwueze, who has a release clause of €63million, was close to moving to the Premier League in 2017 to play for Arsenal before he joined Villarreal.

    He has scored 11 career goals in 54 appearances for Villarreal’s first team and has provided five assists.

    Real Madrid are weighing up a deal for Villarreal’s Super Eagles attacker, Samuel Chukwueze, according to Spanish outlet, Don Balon.

    Don Balon’s Alberto Rambla said Zinedine Zidane’s side, want to add the Nigerian to their rank.

    Real Madrid supremo, Florentino Pérez is keeping tabs on Chukwueze ahead of a potential bid.

    Los Blancos still want to bolster their attack.

    The Nigerian international is rated in the region of €30 million but the Yellow Submarine inserted a release clause of 63 million euros into his latest contract.

    The Super Eagles star is also on the radar of Premier League and Bundesliga clubs.

    He has scored 11 times for Villarreal, and produced 5 assists in 52 matches.

  • Chuckwueze speaks ahead of Nigeria, Brazil friendly match

    Super Eagles winger Samuel Chukwueze has predicted that the upcoming friendly game between the Super Eagles and the Selecao of Brazil will be a very close contest.

    Nigeria and Brazil will be meeting for the first since 2003 in Abuja and this time it will be in far Asian Country of Singapore.

    The game is scheduled for October 13th , three days after the five time world Champions clash with Nigeria’s neighbour Senegal.

    Chuckwueze who will be part of the Nigerian squad for game, Sai the Africans will approach the game with all seriousness, due to rivalry between both countries.

    “That’s a big game (between Nigeria and Brazil) to look forward to in Singapore and I think it’s going to be a tough match,”

    “I don’t know how it’s going to be but I’m confident we are going to make our country proud because everybody is going to look up to this game,”

    The Villarreal youngster added that the unity and empathy within the three time African Champions squad will help the team in the tough contest.

    “It’s going to be a tough game but everybody would see what we are made of when we play against Brazil. I believe this set of Super Eagles is very good; it’s not just that we are good but we are committed.

    “We have the fighting spirit to do everything possible to remain one of the best teams in the world and I think we are going to do well against Brazil,”

  • Okocha was my hero – Samuel Chukwueze

    Villarreal winger Samuel Chukwueze has revealed his admiration for former Nigeria international Jay-Jay Okocha.

    The highly-rated youngster has continued to turn heads in La Liga since breaking into the first team of the Yellow Submarine last season.

    Chukwueze scored eight goals in as many appearances last term amid other dazzling displays to help Villarreal finish 14th.

    The forward also shone at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, helping the Super Eagles finish third in the biennial tournament.

    The young winger, who is known for his dribbling skills, has disclosed his respect for his football idol.

    “My big hero was Jay-Jay Okocha. I loved watching him, and whenever he played for Nigeria I would be so desperate to see him win. If they lost, I wouldn’t eat. I couldn’t take it,” Chukwueze told Goal.

    “In my home town we would have a local centre and I would try to go there to watch Nigeria games. We didn’t have a TV, but there was one there. I would peep through the window to see Okocha and the rest.”

    Villarreal have endured a slow start to the season, given they are winless in their opening three league games.

    The winger, who opened his 2019-20 goal account in their 4-4 draw with Granada, has revealed his desire to always be on the winning side.

    “I’m not a good loser. When I was younger and my team lost, I would cry. I’ve stopped that now, but I still hate to lose. Even on the PlayStation if I lose, I will throw the controller. Winning is everything to me,” he added.

    Chukwueze is part of the 25-man squad invited for the Super Eagles’ friendly game against Ukraine on September 10.

    Thereafter, he will hope to help Villarreal clinch their first win of the season when they slug it out with Leganes on September 14.

  • Chukwueze named in UEFA 50 players to watch

    UEFA has named Super Eagles winger, Samuel Chukwueze, among the top 50 young players to keep an eye on in the 2019/2020 season.
    As was the case before the start of the 2018/2019 campaign, only one Nigerian youngster has been picked.
    Explaining why Chukwueze is being tipped for success in the upcoming season, UEFA wrote on their official website: “Precocious winger with UEFA Europa League experience; the Nigeria Football Federation’s young player of the year for 2017/18.”
    The list contains some eye-catching names such as Rhian Brewster (Liverpool), Alphonso Davies (Bayern Munich), Carel Eiting (Ajax), Gedson Fernandes (Benfica), Sean Longstaff (Newcastle) and William Saliba (Arsenal).
    Chukwueze was one of the key players that helped Villarreal avoid relegation last term, netting five goals in 26 appearances in La Liga.
    He was also part of the Nigeria squad that won bronze at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations and opened his senior account in a 2-1 win vs South Africa.
