    Buhari arrives Madinah for lesser pilgrimage, official visit

    President Muhammadu Buhari has arrived in Madinah, Saudi Arabia to commence an eight-day official visit to the Middle East country.

    Presidential aircraft conveying the Nigerian leader and some of his aides departed the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja at 9:10 a.m, on Monday, landed at Prince Mohammed Bin Abdullaziz International Airport Madinah at about 17:00 p.m. local time.

    While in Madinah, the president would be observing the five daily prayers as well as Taraweeh prayer at the Masjid Nabawi before departing for Makkah via Jeddah, late on Wednesday, for the lesser pilgrimage.

    Malam Garba Shehu, the President’s spokesman had on Monday via a statement revealed that this year’s official visit from April 11 to 19 would be Buhari’s last trip to the Kingdom as President.

    The president last performed the Umrah in 2021.

    President Muhammadu Buhari will travel to Saudi Arabia on official visit from April 11 to 19, the Presidency said on Monday.

    It will be Buhari’s last trip to the Kingdom as President, a statement issued in Abuja by Malam Garba Shehu, the President’s spokesman said.

    He said during the visit, the Nigerian leader would perform Umrah, the Lesser Pilgrimage.

    Shehu said the president would be accompanied by his aides.

    The president last performed the Umrah in 2021.

    The wife of popular Nigerian businessman, Alhaji Aminu Dantata, Hajiya Rabi Aminu Dantata, has reportedly died.

    Mama Rabi (as she is fondly called), died on Saturday at a hospital in Jiddah, Saudi Arabia.

    Mama Rabi was said to have battled a protracted illness.

    The sad news of Mama Rabi’s departure from mother earth was confirmed by one of her grandchildren, Sanusi Dantata.

    “Please pray for our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, Haj. Rabi, wife of Alh. Aminu Dantata, who died on Saturday after a protracted illness!

    “May Allah forgive her, accept her good deeds, and grant her the highest rank in Paradise, Ameen!

    “Innalillahi Wa Inna Ilaihirrajiuun,” Dantata’s grandchild wrote on Twitter.

    Mama Rabi is the biological mother of one of the popular children of Alhaji Aminu Dantata, Tajudeen Dantata.

    She was the second wife of the foremost elder statesman. She died in her late 70s and left behind her husband and six children, among whom are; Tajjuddeen Dantata, Batulu Dantata, Hafsa Dantata, Jamila Dantata and Aliya Dantata. And many more grandchildren.

    Roma boss Jose Mourinho has reportedly been offered a massive deal to coach Saudi Arabia.

    The Portuguese coach is enjoying his stint with the Italian capital club.

    Mourinho won the UEFA Europa Conference League with Roma last season.

    According to Il Corriere dello Sport, Mourinho has been promised up to £100 million if he decides to take on the international job of coaching the Saudi national side.

    Mourinho, who has never worked as an international manager, has not commented on the matter.

    The source adds that Mourinho has also been looked at by Al-Nassr, the Saudi club side where Cristiano Ronaldo plays.

    Al-Hilal football club of Saudi Arabia have wooed Argentine superstar, Lionel Messi, with a mouthwatering deal of  €400 million a year.

    Football transfer analyst Fabrizo Romano broke the deal on Tuesday night.

    He said that  the salary on the table for Messi is worth more than $438 million per annum.

    However, Messi is believed to be keen on continuing his career in Europe, with Barcelona waiting on Financial Fair Play to make their move.

    Romano tweeted: “Understand Al Hilal sent an official bid to Leo Messi: salary worth more than €400m/year.

    “Leo’s absolute priority: continue in Europe. Barcelona, waiting on FFP to send bid and open talks.

    “PSG bid, not accepted at this stage as Messi wanted sporting guarantees.”

    Messi is yet to renew his contract at PSG an inaction indicating he could leave as a free agent at the end of the season.

    If Messi eventually accepts the offer from Al Hilal, he will be teeming up with Nigerian forward Odion Ighalo and renewing his rivalry with Cristiano Ronaldo who already has 10 league goals for Al Nassr.

    Ramon Diaz tutored Al Hilal  are hoping  to become the first Asian side to win the competition.

    Al Hilal may be the most decorated club in Asia , but they will be up against the grandest institution on planet football, Real Madrid.

    Ighalo has played a key role in his side’s march to the final even though he is yet to open his goal account in the competition.

    The Nigerian, alongside Gustavo Cuellar, Andre Carillon, Luciano Vietto and Michael are the men the Blues Waves will look upon to help them complete another mission impossible after the shocking 3-2 win against Brazilian club Flamengo in the semi-final.

    Real Madrid, who swept aside Egypt’s Al Ahly 4-1 in the semis, will strive to make it 10 consecutive victories in the competition.

    Manager, Carlo Ancelotti will welcome back talismanic forward, Karim Benzema to the side with most of the usual casts available.

    Real Madrid holds the record for most victories, winning the competition four times since its inception. Teams from Spain have won the tournament the most times, with seven wins produced from that nation.

    The current champions are Chelsea, who won their first title following a 2–1 win after extra time against Palmeiras in the 2021 final, held at the Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

    Exhibition Match: Ronaldo, Messi to face each other in Saudi Arabia today

    The rivalry between football greatest, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi will unfold today in an exhibition match that will hold in Riyadh Saudi Arabia.

    The match will be Portugal’s forward first match in the colours of new club Al Nassr FC of Saudi Arabia.

    The last time both players faced each other was when they featured for La Liga club sides Real Madrid and Barcelona FC.

    Meanwhile, Ronaldo has been handed Al Nassr’s captain armband in his first game for the club side.

    After a glittering career in Europe that Ronaldo  win four Champions League titles with Real Madrid and two Scudettos at Juventus, Ronaldo signed for Al Nassr, describing it as the “right moment” to share his experience in Asia.

    The Saudi club is the latest stop in Ronaldo’s career that began in 2002 at Sporting CP before the forward spent two spells at Manchester United, the last of which ended on a bitter note as he exited following his acrimonious split with the club.

    Ronaldo and Messi, who have dominated football’s debate about the greatest of all time (GOAT) for the best part of 10 years, will face off on the pitch on Thursday for the first time since December 2020 when Juventus beat Barcelona 3-0.

    Ronaldo will lead Riyadh ST XI, a team made up of players from Al Hilal and Al Nassr, against Messi’s Paris St Germain in the exhibition contest where nothing is at stake, but fans are still excited by the prospect of watching the two stars clash.

    The highly anticipated showdown, which will take place at the King Fahd Stadium in Riyadh, reportedly had more than two million online ticket requests.

    The bidding for a VIP “Beyond Imagination” ticket to the match has already topped 10 million riyals ($2.66 million) in an auction that is set to end later on Tuesday.

    Christiana Ronaldo is set to lead the Saudi All-Star XI team against PSG in a friendly match

    The match which is scheduled to take place on Thursday, January 19, will be the first game for Christiana Ronaldo following his signing-in to Al-Nassr last month in a deal that will see him earn £ 175m a year.

    Ronaldo who is days a way from making his debut in Saudi Arabia, was presented with the captain’s armband.

    His first match will see him go up against long-term rival Lionel Messi, with PSG currently on a tour of the Middle East.

    The match could also be the final time that the pair, who have won the Ballon d’Or 12 times between them, face each other on the pitch.

    Ronaldo and Messi shared a great rivalry during their time in Spain together, playing in numerous El Clasicos for Real Madrid and Barcelona respectively. Ronaldo left Spain to join Juventus in 2018, and he has not come up against Messi since December 2020 when the Italian giants travelled to the Nou Camp.

    C. Ronaldo’s Saudi Arabian club, Al-Nassr assistant coach, Stephane Jobard, has opened up on the attitude of the five-time Balon d’Or winner in training.

    Recall that Ronaldo fell out with the management and coaches of Manchester United after which his contract was terminated.

    Shortly after the World Cup, he signed a two-and-a-half-year contract with Al-Nassr worth a reported €200 million yearly.

    His arrival at Al-Nassr has brought the world’s focus to the Saudi Arabian league.

    “In training, Cristiano Ronaldo made a mistake, and I told him that it was only necessary to touch the ball,” Jobard was quoted by Sportskeeda as saying.

    “He pointed with his thumb up and said: ‘Well, coach..’ and I felt that this humble man wanted to perform on the field.”

    Jobard continued, “In training, I passed a ball to the legend Cristiano Ronaldo, and he scored it, then I came to him and thanked him for scoring, and I can tell my children about this.”

    Ronaldo, 37, is yet to make his debut for his new club Al-Nassr.

    The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is perfecting plans to bend its marriage law for Al Nassr’s new signing Cristiano Ronaldo so as to allow him live with his long term girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez in the country.

    Spanish news outlet Sport made this known via its medium on Friday

    The Saudi Arabia law prohibit unmarried couples to live together or co-habitate in the country but the law is about to be twisted for Ronaldo.

    Sport added that Ronaldo and Rodriguez will be living together in Saudi Arabia and are most likely not going to be punished for breaking the law.

    Recall Ronaldo and Rodriguez have been living togetehr for many years and they have children between them.

    Ronaldo recently signed for Al-Nassr after his contract with Manchester United was terminated in November.
    The Portugal captain signed a contract with the Saudi Arabian outfit that would see him remain at the club until 2025.

    The 37-year-old was officially unveiled as an Al-Nassr player this week.

    The Portugues is now the highest paid footballer in the world as his annual gross income amount to 214 Million dollars yearly.

    Upon joining the club, Ronaldo promised to help not only develop the sport in Al-Nassr but Saudi Arabia as a nation.
