BREAKING: Newcastle United becomes world’s richest club

Newcastle United has instantly become the richest club in football as Saudi Arabian-backed takeover has been completed, according to TheNewsGuru.

The Premier League has approved the takeover after receiving “legally binding assurances” that the Saudi state would not control the club.

Instead the Public Investment Fund (PIF), which will provide 80% of funds for the £300m deal, is seen as separate to the state.

The sale went through after the deal passed the Premier League owners’ and directors’ test.

A Premier League statement said: “The Premier League, Newcastle United Football Club and St James Holdings Limited have today settled the dispute over the takeover of the club by the consortium of PIF, PCP Capital Partners and RB Sports & Media.

“The legal disputes concerned which entities would own and/or have the ability to control the club following the takeover. All parties have agreed the settlement is necessary to end the long uncertainty for fans over the club’s ownership.

“The Premier League has now received legally binding assurances that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will not control Newcastle United Football Club.

“All parties are pleased to have concluded this process which gives certainty and clarity to Newcastle United Football Club and their fans.”

TNG reports that, Newcastle will have the wealthiest owners in world football by some distance after their £300million takeover.

Providing the deal is structured similarly to the original offer, Yasir Al-Rumayyan – a close associate of Saudi royalty Mohammed bin Salman – will become new chairman, with his powerful friend also backing the Magpies’ takeover.

Following the deal’s completion, the Saudi consortium are expected to own 80 per cent of the club – with Amanda Staveley and the Reuben brothers evenly splitting the remaining 20 per cent.

Egypt, Saudi Arabia call for Gaza cease-fire after Israeli airstrike destroys AP, Al-Jazeera offices

The foreign ministers of Egypt and Saudi Arabia yesterday demanded immediate ceasefire in the fighting between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip.

The state-run Saudi Press Agency said Saudi Foreign Minister, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, had spoken to Egyptian Foreign Minister, Sameh Shoukry, and both agreed that an immediate cease-fire was needed.

Egypt has been trying to negotiate an end to the fighting.

The Saudi statement also said the two diplomats called on “the international community to confront the aggressive Israeli practices against the brotherly Palestinian people.”

President Joe Biden and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu have also spoken about the situation in Gaza.

According to a statement from Netanyahu’s office, the Israeli leader updated Biden on the developments and actions that Israel has taken and intends to take.

It said Netanyahu also thanked Biden for the “unreserved support of the United States for our right to defend ourselves.”

  • Saudi Arabia will host 2021 Hajj – NAHCON

Saudi Arabia will host 2021 Hajj – NAHCON

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has announced that the 2021 Hajj exercise would hold, National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has confirmed.

Head of NAHCON’s Public Affairs unit, Fatima Usara disclosed this in a statement on Monday.

Saudi Arabia, however, did not stipulate if it would accommodate pilgrims from other countries.

Usara said the message was conveyed through the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s ministry of Hajj and Umrah.

The commission also assured intending pilgrims from Nigeria that they would have slots if the country decides to allow pilgrims from other countries.

“As we await further communication on specific measures and organisational plans for the 2021 Hajj, NAHCON urges Nigerian intending pilgrims to continue exercising patience while remaining prayerful for positive outcome.

“If there are indeed plans for international pilgrims to participate, NAHCON is optimistic that Nigerian Hajj hopefuls will have slots even if with conditions.

“This is because thus far, Nigerians have been part of those admitted for Umrah and Nigeria has not been among countries barred from traveling to Saudi Arabia.

“Hence, NAHCON leadership reassures the general public, particularly registered intending pilgrims, that in its tradition, the Commission will adhere strictly to those measures and guidelines that will be stipulated by the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah.

“NAHCON is therefore charging other Hajj stakeholders and hopefuls to be ready to comply in order to ease the process for the country and host country such that will pave way for a successful Hajj operation despite time constraints,” the statement reads.

A viral video of some Nigerians stranded in Saudi Arabia for more than seven months on Friday surfaced on social media.

“We are here more than three months, six months, seven months ago, without any action, no better information on transport to Nigeria,” the male narrator in the video said.
