Again, court denies Diddy bail over sex trafficking, racketeering charges

A US judge on Wednesday denied bail for rapper  Sean Diddy Combs as he faces charges of sex trafficking and racketeering.

TheNewsGuru.com(TNG) understands that the federal sex trafficking trial of Diddy is scheduled to start on May 5.

The embattled rapper was arrested on September 16 over sex trafficking and racketeering charges.

According to magistrate judge Robyn Tarnofsky, the entertainer will be jailed while awaiting trial.

Tarnofsky’s order followed after the Bad Boy Records founder pleaded not guilty to the 14-page federal indictment against him.

Diddy was also accused of sexually abusing 120 more people, including a 9-year-old boy.

Prosecutors opposed his latest request to be granted bail, alleging that while in custody, he had contacted witnesses and used unauthorized communication platforms, raising concerns about potential witness tampering.

“For the following reasons, Combs’s motion is DENIED — no condition or combination of conditions will reasonably assure the safety of the community,” federal judge Arun Subramanian said in an order.

Subramanian also denied Combs’s application to be released from detention to prepare his defence.

“Combs has not carried his burden of demonstrating that release from detention is necessary for trial-preparation purposes,” the judge wrote.

Wednesday’s ruling follows a court appearance by Combs at the end of last week.

Outside the Manhattan courthouse, bystanders shouted at Combs’s mother Janice Combs, “Your son is a predator.” Other family members were seen outside the hearing.

Combs’s lawyers argued that a defendant in another prominent federal sex trafficking case, former Abercrombie CEO Mike Jeffries, received bail, which should apply to their client.

Prosecutors wrote to the court, “The nature and circumstances of the offenses are substantially different.

“There are no allegations that Jeffries committed non-trafficking-related violent acts or that he used firearms during the charged period. The indictment against Combs alleges both.

“With respect to the charged offenses, Jeffries does not include a racketeering offense. By contrast, Combs is charged with leading a racketeering enterprise.”

US rapper, Diddy arrested in New York following a grand jury indictment

American rapper and business mogul, Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs has been arrested in Manhattan, New York.

Diddy was arrested at the Park Hyatt hotel on West 57th Street on Monday night by federal agents following a grand jury indictment.

According to the person familiar with the situation, Diddy had been living at the hotel for several weeks.

U.S. Attorney Damian Williams confirmed in a statement that federal agents arrested Combs based on a sealed indictment filed by the Southern District of New York.

“We expect to move to unseal the indictment in the morning and will have more to say at that time,” Williams said.

Marc Agnifilo, his lawyer, criticized the US Attorney’s Office for pursuing what he considers an unjust prosecution.

The lawyer noted that the singer had voluntarily traveled to New York anticipating the charges.

“We are disappointed with the decision to pursue what we believe is an unjust prosecution of Combs by the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

“Sean Combs is a music icon, a loving family man, self-made entrepreneur and proven philanthropist who has spent the last 30 years building an empire and working to uplift the Black community.

“He is an imperfect person, but he is not a criminal. To his credit Mr. Combs has been cooperative with this investigation and he voluntarily relocated to New York a week ago in anticipation of these charges.

“These are the acts of an innocent man and he looks forward to clearing his name in court,” he said.

Diddy is currently facing multiple sexual assault charges.

The rapper first made headlines in November 2023, when Cassie accused him of rape, abuse, and human trafficking during their 10-year relationship. The lawsuit was, however, settled out of court one day after it was filed.

Shortly after his case with Cassie, Diddy was accused of sexual assault in a lawsuit filed in the Manhattan supreme court. A woman named Joi Dickerson-Neal accused Diddy of drugging and raping her when she was a college student at Syracuse University in 1991.

A third woman, on the same day, accused the rapper of sexual assault. The lady alleged that Diddy and singer-songwriter Aaron Hall took turns raping her and a friend in New York City more than 30 years ago.

In December, Diddy was accused of sexual assault by a fourth victim. A woman accused Diddy, Harve Pierre, the former Bad Boy Entertainment president, and a third individual of sex trafficking and gang rape when she was 17.

On February 26, Rodney “Lil Rod” Jones, a former producer and videographer for Diddy, filed a lawsuit alleging that the rapper sexually harassed and drugged him.

In May, another former model identified as Crystal McKinney filed a lawsuit over allegations that the embattled rapper drugged and sexually assaulted her in 2003.
