    Burna Boy erroneously credited for my own records – Seun Kuti

    Popular Nigerian  Afrobeat musician, Seun Kuti, has posited that Burna Boy is erroneously being credited for records set by him and others in the Nigerian music industry.

    Kuti noted that Burna Boy was widely reported as the first artiste to play in Coachella in 2020 despite his (Kuti’s) performance at the festival in 2012.

    Continuing, he also mentioned that before Burna Boy earned his first Grammy nomination for Best World Music Album with African Giant, his elder brother, Femi Kuti had received multiple nominations in the category.

    Kuti who spoke  in a recent interview with The Public Republic, Kuti lamented that his album ‘Black Times’ was nominated for Best World Music Album years ago but no African award organiser considered it for a nomination.

    According to the controversial singer,  despite earning another Grammy nomination for his contributions to Janelle Monae’s ‘Age of Pleasure,’ which was nominated in the Album of the Year category at the 2024 Grammys, the media didn’t mention him among the Nigerian artists nominated for the 66th Grammys.

    “My brother [Femi Kuti] has been nominated at the Grammys multiple times. They’ve nominated me, I was also nominated in the last edition. It was only my name that they [Nigerian media] didn’t mention among the Nigerian artists who were nominated for the 66th Grammys. That’s what they do every time as if I’m from Togo.

    “That’s how they said Burna boy was the first Nigerian artiste to play in Coachella in 2020 where me I’ve played in 2012 as if I’m from Togo,” he lamented.

    Nigerian singer, Seun Kuti has disclosed the details of his marriage.

    During the recent episode of the Bahd and Boujee podcast with Moet Abebe and TolaniBaj, the Afrobeat musician revealed that he has always been a polyamorous person, and that he doesn’t believe in monogamy.

    On the nature of his currently monogamous relationship with his wife, Yetunde Kuti, Seun Kuti said that although his marriage is monogamous, he still explores other ‘options’ outside his marital home.

    He stated that his wife is unable to fulfill his needs, nor connect with him on a political level.

    Seun Kuti added that he has explored threesomes with his wife, which is quitelunexpected, because it’s not something that people talk about in public.

    Afrobeat star, Seun Kuti, has revealed why every man should abolish monogamy.

    According to him polygamy should be embraced and men ought to be allowed to have multiple women.

    Seun Kuti stated this during the recent episode of the ‘Bahd & Boujee’ podcast, asserting that having multiple women signify power and affluence.

    He said:

    “Monogamy doesn’t work. As a powerful man, you must have the support of numerous powerful goddesses. You know, women that are in your life because the ancestors want to put them there. You share with them.”

    Controversial Afrobeat musician, Seun Kuti has noted that women are more unfaithful in relationships and marriages than men.

    According to him, the notion that men cheat more than women was a propaganda.

    The maverick singer spoke on the ‘Bahd & Boujee’ Podcast co-hosted by reality star Tolanibaj and actress Moet Abebe.

    “The society made it seem like it’s only men that cheat. Women cheat more than men,” he said.

    The hosts: “We don’t agree!”

    Kuti, “Okay, this propaganda out there… The truth is that women cheat more than men. Even in the bible, Joseph’s master’s wife tried to cheat on her husband with him and because he refused, she framed him for rape.

    “Which man did they write in the bible that he cheated on his wife?

    “We [men and women] are all equally bad. Let’s just accept that. And men that are out there thinking that you are the only unfaithful one in your marriage or relationship, you are living in a fantasy.

    “If she is not stepping out of the house, you’re sure she is in that compound 24 hours, start looking at everybody in the compound.”

    One of the sons of  late Afrobeat maestro, Seun Kuti has revealed that his father Fela Anikulapo Kuti, had over 100 concubines.

    Seun said that Apart from the 27 wives Fela had, the Afrobeat creator also had over 100 concubines who were living in his house.

    He made this known on the latest episode of the ‘Bahd & Boujee’ Podcast co-hosted by reality star Tolanibaj and actress Moet Abebe.

    “People only know of Fela’s 27 wives, they don’t know of his over 100 girlfriends that lived with us in the house,” he remarked.

    Recall that Seun Kuti recently revealed that his late father, Fela, married 27 women on the same day in a bid to preserve their honour and dignity as the media was already tagging his female dancers and band members living with him as “prostitutes”.

    It would be recalled that the late Fela got married to 27 women in one day back in 1978 in what was seen as a very daring move.

    Naira Abuse: I always stop people from spraying me notes – Seun Kuti

    Seun Kuti son of  late Afro Beat musician, Fela Anikulapo Kuti, has claimed to be the only musician in Nigeria who despise and stops people from spraying him notes when performing.

    He also claimed that a lot of artistes, especially fuji musicians praise people in melodies during their performances just so that they can be sprayed.

    Kuti’s claims are coming following the crackdown of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC’s crackdown on Naira abusers especially celebrities.

    Seun who spoke via a video message on his instagram account despise the act.

    Speaking in a video message shared via his Instagram account, he said: “I don’t even like to be sprayed. I’m the only artist that stops people from spraying me. Even my dad, the legendary Fela didn’t prevent people from spraying him but he demanded the denominations he wanted to be sprayed.

    “Nobody wey Sunny Ade never sing for so he can be sprayed. Everybody name. KWAM 1 … eh eh. It is the politicians that made spraying a standard behaviour.”

    Nigerian singer, Seun Kuti has sent a message of caution to friends of his colleague, Shallipopi, advising them to shield their girlfriends from him.

    In a video making rounds on social media, Seun Kuti asserted that Shallipopi is the most dangerous rapper in Nigeria.

    Reciting a line of the singer’s famous hit song, “Cast”, Seun claimed that, although he hadn’t been a fan of Shallipopi before the song, he had grown to adore him right away due of his wicked nature.

    He advised Shallipopi’s friends to make sure to take their girlfriends far away from him because of the statement he made in the song.

    Popular Nigerian singer, Seun Kuti spills on the high rate of ‘Gabrielism’ that goes on in the Nigerian entertainment industry amidst the detention of Verydarkman, following his online clash with Bobrisky.

    Verydarkman has been in detention since 22nd when he was arrested by the police and is still yet to be granted bail.

    Popular Nigerian singer, Habeeb Okikiola, fondly called Portable, has criticized his counterpart in the music industry, Seun Kuti, over a recent comment on infidelity.

    Seun, in a recent interview on the TVC programme ‘Your View’ alongside his wife, Yetunde, said that love isn’t ownership and infidelity

    Yetunde said she would not leave her marriage if the singer cheats on her.

    She said, “There is nothing my husband is going to do that would make me leave him. Even if he cheats on me, I won’t leave him. I am not going to leave my husband because he cheated on me. Nah, that can’t happen.”

    The singer inferred: “We don’t believe in cheating. What is cheating? Love is not ownership.”

    One of the hosts asked Seun Kuti, if he would leave his wife if she cheats on him to which he replied, “No. What has that got to do with anything?”

    Reacting to the story via an Instagram blog, Portable said he would not tolerate any of his wives cheating on him because he does not want to die young.

    He wrote, “If any of my wife cheat and I know oti loo because I don’t want to die young if your wife dey cheat and you no fit talk that’s means you’re not responsible man sha no forget say them fit you your woman get you down.”

    Yetunde Kuti, the wife of Seun Kuti has opened up about the initial obstacles she faced when considering marriage to the Kuti family.

    Speaking on Your View on TVC, Yetunde shared the concerns and misunderstandings her family harboured.

    She revealed her family’s apprehensions about her union with Seun Kuti and how they cautioned her against it.

    The dancer disclosed that her family held preconceived notions about her husband based on the polygamous history of Seun’s father, Fela Kuti.

    According to her, her relatives warned her about potentially becoming one of many

    Despite the warnings, Yetunde emphasised that she chose to challenge societal stereotypes and misconceptions surrounding marriage.

    She said: I have always had the idea of not wanting to be married, and my family was expecting me not to get married, especially to Seun. I grew up with people whose marriages were not stable and looked at it from their perspective, and I realized that everybody has their own reasons their marriages didn’t work, and people can’t just continue like that.”

    “There’s a sacrifice that one has to make, but some people don’t want to make the sacrifice. My family said my life would end if I married Seun Kuti and that I would just be one of his 35 wives. They said his father married many wives and that he would marry more than him.”
