    Atiku condemns sex-for-grades culture in Nigerian universities

    Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has called for the end of sexual harassment of students across Nigeria’s tertiary institutions and the African continent at large.

    In a series of tweets reacting to the viral video of Boniface Igbeneghu, a lecturer from the Department of European Languages, University of Lagos (UNILAG), Atiku condemned the sexual harassment, and at the same time, called for systemic strategies to put a deterrence to such behaviour.

    The former Vice President’s tweets read; “I have just read the story on #SexForGrades across public tertiary institutions in many West African countries.

    “This is unacceptable and requires systemic strategies to put a deterrence to such behaviour.

    “As a society, we cannot allow a trend that is psychologically abusive to young women to thrive.

    “In fact, that’s a direct opposite of what a sound educational system represents.”

    As published earlier, Igbenegbu, a former sub-dean of UNILAG’s Faculty of Art and Head Pastor of Foursquare Gospel Church, was caught on tape making sexual advances to a teenage girl who posed as an admission seeker.

    Outspoken actress and singer, Dayo Amusa has urged ladies not to use sex as a way to test their commitment to a guy in a relationship.

    In a lengthy message posted on Instagram on Thursday, the 36-year-old said that young women should not mistake gifts and money from men as acts of love as they could be means of getting sex from them.

    “Sex is not an act of commitment. Men still leave the women they sleep with on bed and start thinking of the next woman to sleep with. The satisfaction that comes from sex dies in minutes. It is in the nature of lions to go miles to hunt. The same with men,” she said.

    “A man who can afford the expenses of flying from the UK to Nigeria for sex would do it as if he would never turn to another woman for sex.

    “Students are now living together like husbands and wives, and our society calls it love. What kind of people do these students become when they leave school?

    “Today, a 16-year-old girl is already into sex. She wants to wear everything on trend. She is already a prostitute in the sense that any man that comes her way for relationship must show some signs of money and she would respond to him.

    “The funny thing is this, almost all those girls that have become sex symbols end up in a deep mess. How many of them today is changing the world they are into???”

    In a chat with PUNCH, the actress condemned young ladies who date several men in their quest to be with a perfect man.

    “Also, I do not think that having numerous boyfriends gives you the privilege of having a perfect guy as it could even cause confusion at some point,” she said.

    Housewife drags husband to court for starving her of sex

    A housewife, Talatu, on Monday, dragged her husband Nasiru Sulaiman, before a Sharia Court ll, sitting in Magajin Gari, Kaduna State, seeking legal divorce saying she has been sexually starved for five years.

    Talatu, 35, who resides in Makera, Kaduna, told the court that Sulaiman denied her sex for five years.

    “We have six children but he has refused to enrol them in school. I enroled them but he pulled them out, saying that I want to change their belief from his school of thoughts.

    “For nine months now they have not been to schoo.

    “The house we live in is dilapidated. It is infested by rats, He gives me only N300 to feed his seven children.

    “Sometimes I go out to do menial jobs to assist the family but he accuses me prostitution. I can’t continue living with him. I want a divorce,” she said.

    The defendant, Sulaiman, denied the allegations made his wife.

    ”When I left my wife was pregnant. When I came back, she told me that he had an abortion because she does not want to bear any child,” he said.

    Sulaiman admitted that he gives his wife N300 daily because he has all the foodstuffs in the house.

    The Judge, Murtala Nasir, ordered both parties to settle their problems amicable.

    Nasir adjourned the case until Sept. 23 for report on settlement or continuation of hearing.

    In a post on her Facebook page, Walter has now clarified rumours making the rounds about her. According to her, she has never been raped in her entire life and people need to stop spreading false news.
    Some individuals, have been alleging that Walter was raped by Fatoyinbo back in 2009. Clearing the air on the misconception, she wrote,
