    Sensational singer, Deborah Oluwaseyi Joshua a.k.a Seyi Shay shocked many of her fans when she revealed on her Instagram stories that she has adopted children she caters for. While many were questioning her decision, she gave reason behind her action.

    Seyi was born and raised in Tottenham, London, England, to Nigerian parents. Her mother was from Northern Nigeria and her father is a native of Ife. She has two elder brothers and an older sister. She and her siblings were raised by their single mother. Shay grew up in a religious setting and felt like a single child during her adolescence. She started visiting Nigeria when she was two years old, and eventually attended the Command High School in Maryland, Lagos.[10] She went back to London to complete her undergraduate studies. Her interest in music was influenced by members of her household.

    The songstress has clinched MAMA Awards “Female Artiste of the Year” back to back in 2015 and 2016. She also got a MOBO Awards nomination, BET Awards nomination and several others. Yemi owned 2016 no doubt.

     

    2.Seyi Shay

     

    Seyi’s voice has the capacity to calm your frayed nerves. She has definitely broken away from her early days of Irawo offering her fans hit songs like Right now,Hair Brush and lot’s more.

    Just before the release of her Seyi or Shay album, she got a record deal from Island records. In an industry where maintaining revelance is an herculean task, the Murda sensation is riding on her sonorous pitch, sexy appeal and work ethic.Seyi headlined some of the major shows of 2016.

    1. Tiwa Savage

    Many thought Tiwa’s messy marriage scandal was going to hamper her music career, but it further strengthen her resolve to succeed.

    This year, she released songs like If I start to talk, Standing ovation and graced some of the biggest music stages in the world.

    Tiwa also inked a management deal with Roc Nation. Against all odds, she keeps her eyes focused on her goals. Many won’t forget how she stole the show at the recent Sunny on Sunday concert held in honour of King Sunny Ade.

     

    4.Simi

    Simi further showed us the stuff she is made of in 2016.Jamb Question, Soldier, her collaboration with Falz quickly launched her into the A-list realm of leading Nigerian songstress.

    The X3m singer’s name will undoubtedly be written in gold when it comes to her 2016 giant strides. Simi also got her first major continental feature in Coke Studio. We cannot talk about Simi without making reference to the chemistry she shares with Falz. This year, the duo released an EP titled Chemistry.

     

    1. Niniola

    From Shaba to J’ete , Niniola has mastered her afrocentric style which her fans gladly relish .

    Her recent performance at the Sunny on Sunday concert will remain indelible in the minds of those who attended the event. Nini who has done collaborations with Seyi Shay and EDM continues to soar making people ask where she has been all this while. At this year’s AFRIMA awards, she won the award for West African Collaboration (mbilo mbilo remix)

    She has also been nominated for the Headies Next rated category

    6 .Aramide

    Aramide pours her heart into her music. She sings like a suitor ready to win the heart of his bride. So at the just concluded AFRIMA Awards, Aramide further won my heart when she clinched the award for Best Female Artiste, West Africa. A lot of people are of the opinion that she doesn’t deserve it because she isn’t exactly a mainstream artiste like the Tiwa Savage’s or Yemi Alade’s.

    Her Funmi Lowo song is also one of the biggest songs of 2016. At AFRIMA 2016, she won the award for the Best Female Artiste West Africa .All hail queen Aramide
