    Tragedy strikes as Seyi Vibez fans die in highway racing crash after Lagos concert

    Nigerian singer Seyi Vibez is currently in mourning following the death of his fans, who tragically lost their lives while returning from his concert held on Saturday night at Lagos Island.

    TheNewsGuru.com(TNG) reports that the singer took the center stage on August 23rd, 2025, at the iconic Tafawa Balewa Square at the city of Lagos.

    According to an eyewitness, @alli_ya7 who posted the video of the incident on X formerly Twitter, the victims were said to have been involved in a fatal accident on Third Maryland bridge while engaged in a car race.

    While advising the public against reckless driving, she revealed that the victims tried to overtake other cars.

    She wrote: “They left the show and started racing on the express, trying to overtake other cars. Why race on the highway? May their souls rest in peace. SPEED KILLS.”

    The fatal incident, which involved more than four vehicles, sparked outrage and grief online.

    Renowned Nigerian musician, Balogun Afolabi Oluwaloseyi, better known as Seyi Vibez has separated and unfollowed his record label, Dapper Music.

    TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) understands that the singer left the record label shortly after he was called out on social media by Nigerians in Toronto, Canada for cancelling a show abruptly, despite an agreement of a scheduled performance.

    A quick check on Seyi Vibez’s social media page showed that the 24-year-old singer updated his bio with “Independent artist” and deleted all posts.

    This change marks the beginning of his journey as an independent musician.

    Recently, Seyi Vibez released the official video for his song ‘Lagos.’ The piece speaks about a story of love, betrayal and survival.

    Seyi Vibez goes down memory lane, recounts difficult beginnings

    Popular Nigerian singer, Balogun Afolabi, popularly known as Seyi Vibez, goes down memory lane, recalling his humble beginnings.

    It would be recalled that Seyi Vibez gained popularity following his breakthrough single ‘Chance (Na Ham)’ in 2022.

    The 23-year-old won the Best Street-Hop Artiste with the song at the 16th Headies Awards in 2023.

    According to the singer, things were difficult in the ghetto.

    He said, “I left home when I was 15. Things were difficult in the ghetto, so I had to make way for myself. Even my own family freed me. They said, ‘Go, don’t die here. It’s better you go away and hustle for yourself’.”

    Nigerian music Star, Seyi Vibez has recounted how he was scammed while trying to join Wizkid’s record label, Starboy Entertainment, in the early days of his career.

    During a recent interview with Wazobia FM, the ‘Instagram’ crooner recalled searching on Google for ways to join Starboy Entertainment and got a phone number on the website, who ended up duping him.

    Seyi Vibez revealed that he called the number and was told to pay N10,000 for a registration form, which he did, only for him to get blocked after paying.

    He said:

    “I remember when I was 13 years old, I wanted to sign to Starboy, I went to Google and typed, ‘How to register to Starboy record label.’ I saw one number and I called the number, the guy who picked it up said I should pay for form N10,000.”

    “That was how I sold my phone and paid the guy N10,000 but after the payment he blocked me. He told me that he was Wizkid’s recruitment officer. I said I would come for the screening; I would perform and Wizkid would judge my performance. So, I fell for it.”

    He advised upcoming artists to desist from signing up for any record label on social media as it a means to an end.

    Seyi Vibez while featuring in the latest episode of The Reprezent Podcast, revealed that Burna Boy always urged him not to complain and keep moving forward regardless of whatever situation he finds himself in.

    “The advice that Burna Boy gave me that always stayed with me is don’t complain, just believe, show no sign of weakness, and keep moving.

    Nigerian singer, Seyi Balogun, popularly known as Seyi Vibez, has explained why many perceive him as older than his actual age.

    Seyi vibez in a chat with Nandi Madida on Apple Music‘s Africa Now Radio, said he is he is 23.

    He affirmed that the doubt arose from the mature content of his performances, which might seem inappropriate for someone of his age.

    He said, “I don’t think I am young. Everyone thinks I’m older than my age; nobody thinks I am actually 23. I just have to keep pushing, because it seems I am doing what I am not supposed to do at my age. I will keep working, so my inspiration never dies.”

    Seyi Vibez further said that, besides God, his late mother remained his primary source of inspiration. Although she has passed away, he emphasized that she will forever live on in his heart.

    He shared that he is consistently in the studio, actively crafting new songs, with several more ready for release.

    “I just keep recording. It is not because I want to record, it is because I don’t like talking to people too much. From when I was young, I did not like talking to people too much.

    Whatever is on my mind that is getting me sad or happy, I put it in my music. I record always, because that is the only way I can communicate with people. I have a lot more songs than the ones I have released,” he added.

    Portable surpassed the likes of Blaq Bones, Odumodublvk, and Seyi Vibez among others to win the award.

    A renowned charts recorder, ChartsAfrica, announced this on Monday in a post on its official X.

    A Muslim community, identified as @nigerianmuslim on Instagram, has condemned the usage of Quranic verse in a music video by a fast-rising Nigerian singer and songwriter, Balogun Afolabi Oluwaloseyi, aka Seyi Vibez.

    In their words: “We condemn the use of the Quran in a music video!”

    Seyi Vibez suffered a severe backlash from the Muslim community after he opened his music video with a Quranic verse.

    The singer unveiled a snippet of his new music video a couple of days ago. This came after Asake dropped his 2023 debut single, Yoga.

    The Muslim community, on Instagram, made a repost of Seyi Vibez’s video. In their caption, it was indicated that they would not tolerate the use of the Quran in a music video.

    This development has set tongues wagging on all socials.

    TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports that Seyi Vibez began his music career in the Ikorodu area of Lagos State, where he also spent his formative years.

    The Ketu Nigerian Afro-pop musician attended As-Sodiq Primary School. His enrollment at Agric Ikorodu’s Skylights Secondary School came later. He was a sociology student at Lagos State University.

    Seyi Vibez started to recognize his musical abilities when he was in high school. For his classmates at school or his family at home, he would perform cover versions of songs by some of his favorite artists.

    By doing this, he was able to recognize his singing talent and decided to pursue it professionally.

    The fast-rising singer started writing songs and releasing them even though he was not yet signed to a record label.

    He is currently one of the performers dominating the music scene with his constant stream of hit recordings.

    His mostly Afro-pop musical style draws greatly on historical figures like Fela Kuti for influence.

    Seyi Vibez performs his songs in Yoruba and occasionally in English in order to reach a larger audience unrestricted by linguistic boundaries.

    He has gained popularity in countries that do not speak Yoruba. Before Seyi’s debut in 2021 with the popular song “God Sent,” he released a few songs while not receiving any recognition for them.

    The song is off his debut album, NSNV (No Seyi, No Vibes). The song’s popularity assisted Seyi in expanding his fan base and solidifying his position in the business.
