    Nigerian rapper, Skales loses mum

Nigerian rapper, Raoul John Njeng-Njeng, aka Skales, has announced the death of his mother on Tuesday, October 25.

The rapper broke the news on his social media page, Instagram.

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports that the rapper, however, did not give details about the cause of her death or the actual day she passed away.

In 2000, he started writing rap songs in Kaduna, Nigeria. Between 2007 and 2008, he traveled to Jos to work with Jesse Jagz and Jeremiah Gyang. In 2008, he entered the Zain Tru Search competition and won the competition’s North Central region. His debut single “Must Shine” received numerous spin on the Rhythm FM stations in Lagos, Jos and Abuja.

The rapper later relocated to Lagos and signed a record deal with Empire Mates Entertainment (E.M.E) in 2009.

Skales has collaborated with numerous artists, including Akon, eLDee, Tekno, Harmonize, Jeremiah Gyang, Banky W. and Knighthouse. His well-known songs include “Shake Body”, “Mukulu”, “Keresimesi”, “Komole”, “My Baby”, “Take Care of Me” and “Denge Pose”.

After leaving E.M.E in May 2014, he set up the independent OHK Music record label. His debut studio album Man of the Year was released in 2015.

Skales signed a record deal with E.M.E after meeting Banky W. in 2009. He released the singles “Mukulu” and “Keresimesi” simultaneously. Both songs were produced by Sarz and released under the outfit. The music video for the latter track was directed by Clarence Peters and uploaded to YouTube on 28 November 2011.

Skales was one of the main acts on E.M.E’s debut compilation album, Empire Mates State of Mind (2012). He collaborated with Banky W., Wizkid, Shaydee, Niyola and DJ Xclusive on five of the album’s seven singles.

He also toured with some of the aforementioned acts on the EME US Tour, which kicked off on 4 July and ended on 2 September 2012. In February 2014, Skales left E.M.E following the expiration of his four-year recording contract. E.M.E executives believed they were not getting remunerated for investing in him and refused to renew his contract.

In May 2014, Skales established his own record label, OHK music. The label is home to producer Drey Beatz and has affiliations with other music personnel within Nigeria.

On 6th May 2014, Skales released the Jay Pizzle-produced track “Shake Body” as the lead single from his debut studio album Man of the Year. The accompanying music video for the song was uploaded to YouTube on 22 July 2014.

Skales promoted the song by announcing the Shake Body video competition. It was reported that Skales signed a record deal with Timaya’s Dem Mama Records following his departure from E.M.E. In February 2014, Skales debunked the reports and said he did not sign with Dem Mama Records.

  • Skales, Mc Galaxy at war

    Skales, Mc Galaxy at war

Many were stunned when Nigerian singer, Skales called out Mc Galaxy, threatening to beat him up. Skales noted that Mc Galaxy is stupid.

Taking to his Insta story on Instagram, the ‘Shake body’ crooner said: “One day, I go beat that stupid smelling Mc Galaxy… F*ck boy”

Although Skales did not disclose what transpired between him and the ‘Sekem’ singer it is quite obvious the duo are not in good terms.

Reacting to Skales statement, Mc Galaxy alleged that Skales sleeps with women for money, adding that he is ready to match him in a fight.

“Broke boys wey dey collect money from women can make noise sha lol, Adiok anofiii… Let me know when you are ready for the fight idiot lol… beggar lol”

TheNewsGuru recalls that Toyin Abraham severely criticized MC Galaxy back in 2019 for allegedly requesting young women to go nude in exchange for N50,000.

The actress, in a statement posted on her Instagram page, described the singer’s action as “despicable, debasing, and bad in every way”.

She wrote, “Dear MC Galaxy, what you did asking girls to go naked for 50k is despicable, debasing, and bad in every way. You have just further strengthened the belief that the easiest way women can get things is to sell their bodies.

“I sincerely can’t fathom what you need or gain from this despicable act when you could have checked in on pornographic sites on the Internet. I am not trying to be a moral judge. I am the least qualified to judge a fellow human, but just the way you used your influence and platform for this woman-debasing act, I am also using mine to stand against an act that ridicules women and further proves that some men are scum.

“See what people like Linda Ikeji, Kemi Adetiba, Chimamanda Adichie, even your friend, Laura Ikeji and other women are doing with their platforms. They lift other women by living, giving and not asking for nudes.

“You can as well follow the examples of young men like Davido, Tunde Ednut, Wizkid and Banky W. My message to those girls that went naked on your page is this: please let’s do better, let’s stop making men like Mr. Galaxy think everything about women is money.

“Don’t sell yourself short because of 50k. It is the least sum of money that you will make in your lifetime. We are women, we are powerful and we are not cheap.”
