    Davido speaks on the credibility of just concluded general elections in Nigeria

    Nigerian singer, David Adeleke, popularly  known as Davido has said that the 2023 general elections in the country were not credible.

    Davido made his position known while granting interview on Beat 99.9FM, Lagos.

    Davido, who went on a 6-month social media break following the death of his son, Ifeanyi, said he would have been very vocal about the elections if he was online.

    According to him, the election was marred with low turn out of voters, saying that the safety of voters really matters.

    “But, I mean, I was happy about it [the outcome of election]. That’s just being honest.”

    “It’s what it is! But I personally don’t feel like that was really a credible election. You know what I’m saying? I feel like the most important thing is the safety of life of everybody. But in all, that wasn’t it. So, I don’t think I will be able to hide that. I can’t hide that,” the singer added.

    Reactions trail Tems’ outfit to the Oscars Awards

    Reactions have continued to trail the appearance of Grammy Award winning Nigerian singer, Temilade Openiyi, aka Tems to the recently held Oscara Awards in America.

    Tems, has come under attack over her outfit at the Oscars which appeared to be blocking award attendees sitting right behind her.

    The Nigerian artiste, who got nominated for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever track, “Lift Me Up” wore a puffy white gown that wrapped around the back of her head.

    Her elaborate outfit blocked the view of some attendees who sat at her back at Sunday night’s Academy Awards.

    Social media users have criticised her for being insensitive to others while others rose to her defense for being classy and gorgeous.

    Chrisland Schools: Father of student who died during inter-house sports seeks justice

    The father of a 12-year-old Chrisland International School student, Opebi branch,Michael Adeniran,  has taken to social media to seek for justice over the death of his daughter at the school’s inter-house sports activities.

    Adeniran noted that  his daughter died on Thursday at the Agege Stadium, where the school used for its sporting activities.

    He said that  the child had no health condition or sickness as at when the school bus picked her up for the event

    Adeniran, who also said that there was no explanation given to himself and his wife from the school, added that his wife was present at the stadium, but the school did not call her attention to the incident immediately.

    He has subsequently called on the Lagos State Government and the police to look into the matter and get justice for his slain child.

    Adeniran wrote, “To the biggest shock of my life by 1 pm in the afternoon, I got a call from my wife that she was informed that our daughter slumped at the inter-house sport and she was rushed to the clinic.

    “My wife was at the venue even before the event started. She was never informed or called until they have conveyed our child out of the venue before they informed her. On arrival of my wife at the health center where they took my daughter. my daughter was lying dead with her lips black and her tongue black.

    “My wife called me urgently, I left my office to the place and found my 12year old daughter lying dead on the ground. I asked questions about what happened to my daughter and the school authority could not get me any information as to what happened to my child in their care.

    “I gave Chrisland school a healthy vibrant young girl what Chrisland returned to me is a dead child. My entire family is in deep sorrow but the school Authority claimed they know nothing about my daughter’s death and all they know is that my daughter slumped and died.”

    Adeniran further said the school had no ambulance or paramedics at the event, except for a nurse he described as a “quack,” who he said later confessed that the child died at the stadium

    He added that, “My question is what happened to my daughter at Agege stadium? As a father, I demand answers from Chrisland International High School. I am in deep pain and sorrow right now. If you are a father you will understand my pain. My daughter is highly loved by us. We cherished her existence and we can never allow an institution to gloss over the death of our daughter.

    “Since we started asking this question. The school has been asking us to back down from the autopsy and I know they know their way into the system. I am calling on the pathology department of @lasuth to please be honest with their result. Lagos State government, Nigerian Government, please intervene.”

    Many social media users have also taken to the comment section to join Mr Adediran to seek justice on the death of the child asking the police to intervene.

    However, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, is yet to comment on the matter.

    Chelsea’s new signing Mykhaylo Mudryk has ‘liked’ a social media post criticising teammate Marc Cucurella after their draw at West Ham.

    Both Blues stars were in action as their side drew 1-1 at West Ham.

    The result made it just two wins from Chelsea’s last 13 games, piling further pressure onto the West Londoners.

    Mudryk, an £88million January signing from Shakhtar Donetsk, underwhelmed again – and appeared to show his frustration at Cucurella.

    During the match he made a dart in behind, only for the left-back to instead opt to pass inside to Enzo Fernandez.

    The Ukrainian appeared furious at the time.

    And his Instagram account later “liked” a post making reference to Cucurella’s passing.

    The meme showed the 24-year-old ignoring Mudryk in favour of all of his other Chelsea team-mates.

    Mudryk’s account later unliked the post.

    Entrepreneur arrested for selling new Naira notes via social media

    The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) says it has arrested a “serial entrepreneur” for allegedly offering the redesigned Naira notes for sale via social media.

    Spokesperson for the commission, Mrs Azuka Ogugua disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday and stated that the female serial entrepreneur, who operates with the Twitter handle @SimisolaGold, was arrested as a result of intelligence received by ICPC’s operatives.

    Mrs Ogugua said the suspect allegedly seized the opportunity of the scarcity of the new naira notes to openly market the new notes.

    “It is believed she is in collusion with key elements in the financial services sector diverting the newly released notes away from banking halls and payment channels into a “ black market, ” she said.

    Ogugua added that the woman, a social media “serial entrepreneur” deals in skincare, sales of fuel, facilitation of foreign travels through visa acquisitions, and other businesses.

    According to her, the suspect is currently in ICPC detention and is helping the anti graft agency with its findings on the criminal trading of the naira and the attendant scarcity and negative economic outcomes being caused by the action.

    She further explained that the arrest was in furtherance of the collaboration between CBN, ICPC and EFCC in implementing the new cashless policy and Naira redesign.

    The launch of the Big Brother Titans, a joint South African and Nigerian edition of the Big Brother franchise on Jan.15 kicked off the trends of the week with fans rooting for their favourite among the 24 housemates.

    The reality TV show however generated arguments amongst audience who were divided on why the show should be suspended or postponed because of the forthcoming general elections.

    Arome Victor, on Twitter said, “This programme  should have waited till after the elections…that is when it will be sweeter … a recap of the previous big brother is what would have been better till after the elections.”

    Another twitter user, @Emeka Innomaths wrote, “If the house mates are not allowed to go home and cast their votes  on 25th Feb 2023, I will personally sue Big Brother. Youths are the determinant of this election, please uncage them from big brother for now.”

    On Monday, the 8th All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) which took place in Dakar, Senegal, began to trend as Nigerian artistes grabbed majority of the awards.

    The 15,000-capacity Dakar Arena saw Nigerian artistes like David Adeleke (Davido), Ayodeji Balogun (Wizkid), Damini Ogulu (Burna Boy) and Adekunle Gold making Nigeria proud with multiple awards.

    On Tuesday, Nigerian actor, Kunle Remi, broke the trends table when he revealed how a Nigerian entertainer tried to lure him into homosexuality during his early days as an actor.

    He revealed this in an interview he granted Honest Bunch, an online TV show, anchored by on-air-personality and comedian, Nedu.

    “They would pull up location in sophisticated vehicles and you would begin to question yourself if this person got higher than I got. They would say they sell hairs and engage in brand influencing job, which we hardly see.

    “This lifestyle sends the wrong signal to young girls who are coming into the industry because they already had the mindset that you made your money from acting, whereas you have other things you do which they may never see or hear about,” Remi said.

    Popular Nigerian music producer and record label executive, Don Jazzy,  also reacted to the revelation, saying, “Now wey you don blow boss. You for tell us the person o so that we can make sure he doesn’t molest innocent young upcoming people like that o.”

    On-Air-Personality, Nedu, also joined in shattering the table when he also revealed in a podcast how he walked in on two popular female celebrities sleeping with someone he knows in an Abuja hotel.

    Nedu,however,  made mention of no one in particular but social media platforms went agog after some users started pointing fingers at some politicians and popular skit makers.

    “Yes, I said it. I have walked in on two of your favorite influencers/celebrities in Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja. They saw me and they expect me to respect them and I respect them enough not to mention their names,” he said.

    On Wednesday,  Nigerian artiste, Ayodeji Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, revealed that he would be going on a tour with David Adeleke (Davido), another popular Nigerian artiste.

    Fans of the duo however read different meanings to this as some said that the former needed the latter to trend and that was the reason for the proposed tour.

    Daniel Regha, a social media influencer said, “Wizkid going on tour with Davido makes absolutely no sense; He’s been snubb!ng Davido for years & doesn’t address Wizkid FC when they troll.

    “All of a sudden he plans a joint tour now that his starpower is dropp!ng? Why not with Burna? Davido shouldn’t accept this. No offense.”

    Comedian and social media critic, Mr Jollof, also knocked Wizkid for the tour, adding that he was trying to capitalise on Davido’s popularity.

    He later apologised saying that his outburst was borne from a place of deep love for the artiste and that he did not  mean it the way people had reacted.

    On Thursday, the sports scene dominated the trends with Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi following the Riyadh XI Vs PSG Match in Saudi Arabia.

    Ronaldo and Messi both scored in the match which ended 5-4 in favour of PSG at the King Fahd International Stadium.

    Fans of both footballers had trooped to social media to heap praises on their favourites who they described as “GOAT” (Greatest Of All Time).

    On Friday, Shanty Town, a Nigerian movie on NETFLIX, started generating conversations as viewers heaped praises  on the actors and producer for what they described as a job well done.

    Actors like Chidi Mokeme was praised for a well interpreted role, Mercy Eke for her debut like no other and Nse Ikpe-Etim for her dynamic character.

    Other actors like Ali Nuhu, Richard Mofe-Damijo, Shola Sobowale, Shaffy Bello, Ini Edo and Peter Okoye were also commended as Nancy Isime’s nude scenes generated several reactions.

    The actress later cleared the air posting on her Instagram page that her stunt double was the owner of the body.

    While some fans believed and cautioned her for revealing the secret, some were adamant, saying that the body was hers and no amount of statement would change that fact as she was just doing her job and should own it.

    On Saturday, the much anticipated Premier League Football Match between league leaders, Arsenal and Manchester United, who is fourth on the table had dominated the social media trends.

    League leader Arsenal are hitting the pitch for a payback on Jan. 22 at the Emirates Stadium in the critical English Premier League match as their first leg against United was the only loss recorded so far.

    Arsenal have howerver recorded 10 victories and two draws in their 12 league games since the United game. Arsenal is presenty with an eight-point lead atop the table after beating Tottenham 2-0 last Sunday.

    The man showcased the fish and urged netizens to help him identify its name and worth so he does not make a mistake.

    According to the man, he does not want to eat something which he fears may be of great financial value to him if sold.

    The man, via his TikTok handle, shared a video of the fish still alive, as he asked viewers to come to his aid.

    He recalled the story of a man in Ughelli who caught a fish that would have changed his life, but he ate it.

    TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) recalls that a white man identified as FLbassmaster had earlier Caught $10,000 worth goldfish and kept it.

    Recall that sometime in May 2022, three lucky Nigerian men caught a big sailfish in a Lagos sea worth over N500k.

    A marine engineer identified as Pakama and two of his colleagues took to Twitter to show off the big sailfish they caught on the sea in the Lagos anchorage area.

    Pakama shared photos of himself and colleagues posing with their big catch and captioned it, “We don catch Pepper soup fish.”

    32-year-old Pakama said the catch was made on Tuesday, May 25.

    The elated engineer said his two colleagues had set the fish trap playfully on Monday evening and never expected to record such a big catch.

    “A hook was set with a smaller fish as bait the previous evening by 2 of my colleagues and honestly it was done playfully without expecting such huge catch.”

    Pakama said while doing his normal rounds that fateful morning, he noticed the struggling fish and notified his colleagues.

    He said: “However this morning (Tuesday) while taking my normal rounds at the aft of the vessel before going down to the engine room I noticed the struggling fish and called the attention of my colleagues who assisted in getting the fish onboard.

    “It was a joyful moment not because we knew the market value of the fish but natural joy for just making a big catch.”

    I never wanted my private life to be public – Fancy Acholonu

    Fancy Acholonu, ex-fiancee to actor, Alex Ekubo, has revealed that she never wanted her private life to be public. She made this known while reacting to comments by her followers on her new year post on social media.

    Acholonu in her reactions hinted that she was “manipulated” into issuing a public apology to Alex Ekubo, months after she called off their engagement.

    Recall that she had in her apology post shared on Thursday, December 29, 2022, said she was sorry for hurting her ex-fiance, Alex Ekubo and his family. The actor also took to the comment section to appreciate her for the public apology.

    In her new year message, she wrote; “Happy New Year everyone 2023 will be my year of strength, being fearless, speaking up for myself & FINALLY no longer under anyone’s control. I’m free, the chain is broken. May God bless us all”.

    In an exchange that ensued with her followers shortly after posting her news year message, Acholonu revealed that she never wanted her private life in public space. She added that she was manipulated into issuing the apology and she fell for it.

    The model who also said her eyes are now open, further disclosed that people are “attacking’ her without knowing why she called off their engagement.

    Covenant University reacts to Rape, sexual harassment allegations

    The Covenant University has cleared the air on the rape saga and sexual harassment rocking the institution, adding that the allegations that female students of the school are being sexually harassed and raped by workers of the intuition are untrue.

    Recall that some reports in some traditions and online media claimed that people accuse some workers of the institution for  sexually harassing and raping female undergraduates.

    A post from a concerned person concerning the rape matter on social media reads @_Otitoo, called for urgent intervention to prevent a situation that would lead to the death of a student.

    The post read, “CU girls are being raped and nothing is being done about it. Do something now. We don’t want to see your candles after we lose another girl.”

    The screenshot of another message that was also shared on Twitter alleged that workers of the school were raping students who broke rules of the institution, adding that a student who got pregnant for a worker got expelled.

    The message read, “The staff in Covenant University are raping the students. They’ll set stupid rules and if the students should break them, they’ll sleep with them in exchange for their studentship.

    “A girl is in a coma now. She did an abortion for the head of the students’ disciplinary council. He got her pregnant and still expelled her.

    “So many students there are being abused. It’s a Christian University for crying out loud. Covenant University has hidden so many deaths. They’ve expelled so many students for trying to speak up for their rights.”

    However, the Media officer of Covenant University who simply gave her name as Chichi  noted that the social media posts about rape and harassments at the institution is false and the handiwork of mischievous persons.

    Reacting on the matter she said “It’s not true. It is a very false tweet or whatever it was. The person behind it must be mischievous.”

    She further explained that no female student has come out to complain about any form of harrassment  or rape as painted by some persons on social media.

    Covenant University is a private Christian university in Ota, Ogun State, Nigeria. It is affiliated with Living Faith Church Worldwide and is a member of the Association of Commonwealth Universities, Association of African Universities, and National Universities Commission.
