‘Wahala’ loading as group kicks against Obasa’s move to impose son as LG chairman

A group within the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Lagos State has warned that there would be crisis in the party if the reinstated Speaker of the House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, imposed his son, AbdulGaniyu Obasa, as the next chairman of Agege Local Government.

The pressure group, known as Concerned Citizens of Agege, in an open letter, stated that the people of Agege and Orile Agege could no longer keep quiet and watch as Obasa was bent on imposing his son on the party in the forthcoming local government election.

The group noted that while the son had the right to run for office, he should not be imposed on the people of Agege by Obasa.

‘There should be free and fair primaries where the people of Agege will pick who should be their candidate’

The group stated that they could not serve Obasa for over a decade and at the same time serve his son, whom many described as ‘a political lightweight’ on the people of Agege Local Government.

The good people of Agege and Orile Agege are no longer silent. We have endured decades of underperformance, political manipulation and failed promises from the father. Since his arrival in office, not a single meaningful empowerment programme has been delivered to the people.

“Year after year, he collects constituency allowances meant for the development and uplift of our communities, yet we see no trace of impact, no real empowerment, and no benefit to the people who trusted him with their votes.

“We say NO to father and son. Public office is not a family heritage. Agege is not an empire to be inherited. The people deserve capable, proven personalities, not political heirs who has never been involved in grassroots politics, never attended ward or LG meetings, and whose name is completely unknown to the political base.

To make matters worse, the father is also trying to impose another candidate in Orile Agege. Again, we say NO. The people of Orile Agege are not blind. We see through the games and reject this recycled leadership.

“This is not democracy. This is a hijack of power. It is an insult to loyal party members and a betrayal of trust. This desperate political imposition is dead on arrival. Agege and Orile Agege deserve better, leaders who are qualified, present, and committed to true service. The era of being fooled is over. Let the voice of the people be louder than money, louder than manipulation, and louder than fear.”

Court sentences killers of Ogun couple, son, to death by hanging

An Abeokuta High Court sitting in Kobape, on Monday, sentenced three men for killing Kehinde Fatinoye, his wife, Bukola, and son, Oreoluwa, on Jan 1, 2023.

The three convicts are Lekan Adekanbi, Ahmed Odetola and Waheed Adeniyi.

They were arraigned alongside six others: Temitope Fadairo and Adenike Adekanbi, wife and mother respectively of the first defendant, Adekanbi.

Others are Anuoluwapo Owolaja, Azeez Usman, Abass Odetola and Lukmon Adewusi.

They were arraigned on a 24-count charge.

The charges bordered on conspiracy to commit armed robbery, armed robbery, conspiracy to murder, murder, arson, escape from lawful custody, perverting the course of justice and receiving stolen property among others.

They, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against them.

The trial judge, Justice Basirat Adebowale, said the three convicts were majorly involved and were guilty of nine charges.

She held that the prosecution had proven its case beyond reasonable doubt that Adekanbi, Odetola and Adeniyi were guilty of the charges.

Adebowale said the offences contravened Sections 21(b),16(1)(b) of the Prohibition of forcible occupation of landed properties, armed robbery, kidnapping, cultism and other anti-violence and other related offences, Law of Ogun 2016.

In addition, she held that the offences contravened Sections 324, 316, 324 and 443 of the Criminal Code Laws of Ogun 2006.

Adebowale, thereafter, convicted the trio to death by hanging.

“You, Adekanbi, Odetola and Adeniyi, for killing father, mother and son; you don’t deserve mercy,” she said.

The judge also convicted Fadairo, the wife of Adekanbi, to two years imprisonment for perverting the course of justice by hiding her husband.

Meanwhile, Adekanbi’s mother, Adenike, was also sentenced to one year imprisonment for making false statements to police officers.

Usman, a welder, was sentenced to 14 years imprisonment for receiving stolen property; two years as an accessory of the fact of armed robbery and seven years for compounding felonies.

The jail terms are to run concurrently with hard labour.

While Owolaja was sentenced to two years imprisonment as an accessory after the fact of murder, Odetola and Adewusi were discharged of the offences preferred against them.

Earlier, the prosecution counsel, Mrs Adefisoye Temilola, had told the court that the trio committed the offences on Jan 1, 2023 at Karounwi Street, Ibara Housing Estate in Abeokuta.

Temilola said Adekanbi, who was the driver to the couple, conspired with Odetola and Adeniyi to rob and murder the couple.

She said the three convicts, while armed with a gun, hammer and cutlass, robbed Fatinoye of the sum of N1.102 million and one Hyundai vehicle, valued at N12 million.

She also said they robbed the wife, Bukola, of her phones, valued at N1 million.

According to the prosecutor, Adekanbi used a sledgehammer to hit Bukola on the head and slashed her neck.

The prosecuting counsel further explained that after the robbery, Adeniyi slaughtered Fatinoye with a knife to the neck.

According to her, the house was later set ablaze and the couple’s only son, Oreoluwa, was thrown into Ogun River with hands and legs tied, which led to his death.

Tottenham Hotspur captain Son Heung-min scored in each half to earn his side a 3-2 victory at Hoffenheim in the Europa League on Thursday.

The win strengthened Tottenham’s chances of finishing in the top eight of the league, as they sit fourth with 14 points ahead of the final round of matches.

Hoffenheim gradually worked their way back into the match, with Andrej Kramaric going close when his header struck the top of the crossbar.

The German side were awarded a penalty just after the hour mark when Spurs keeper Brandon Austin received a yellow card for colliding with a Hoffenheim player. The referee checked VAR, however, and rescinded both the card and the penalty.

The hosts’ efforts paid off in the 68th minute when Anton Stach connected with a cross from a counter-attack and slid the ball home.

Son restored Spurs’ two-goal lead with a low shot from an acute angle in the 77th minute before Hoffenheim’s David Mokwa headed in a cross from Andrej Kramaric four minutes from time to give his side hope.

  • Money ritual gone awry as woman finds maggots in her urine after s$x with son

Money ritual gone awry as woman finds maggots in her urine after s$x with son

A woman, seeking refuge with a pastor, has shared an account of her family’s ordeal stemming from her son’s quest for financial freedom through alleged money rituals.

Aunty Grace, the mother, revealed that her 19-year-old son, who had dropped out of school after junior high, fell in with the wrong crowd and was introduced to an alleged money ritual.

She explained that this ritual has brought severe consequences to their family.

She consequently sought help from Pastor Prince Elisha Osei Kofi during his confession session in a video shared on YouTube.

According to Aunty Grace, her son left home with friends and returned days later with newfound wealth.

“I have a 19-year-old child, and he has a lot of friends, so they have been going out often, and sometimes he doesn’t return for a week or two,” she said.

According to her, her son began to support the family financially, renovating their house and providing food after he returned from his regular trip. However, this sudden change came at a high cost.

She narrated that she noticed a deep sore on her son’s thigh, infested with maggots and despite her inquiries, he refused to explain the cause.

One day, he left and returned two months later with a car. I asked him where he got the car from, and he told me not to be afraid. Then he started buying things for the house, like rice and other provisions.

He left again and returned three months later, wanting to renovate the house, which he did.

“I noticed he started wearing long dresses with a strong smell coming from him. I noticed a strong smell as I got closer to him. Later, I discovered he had a large, deep sore on his thigh with maggots and other insects coming out of it.

“I asked him how it happened, but he couldn’t explain. He had become aggressive sleeping with girls indiscriminately,” she asserted.

She further revealed that eventually, one of his friends disclosed that the sore would only heal if Aunty Grace had sexual relations with her son, as part of the sacrificial demands tied to their source of wealth.

“So, I called his friend, and he told me that I shouldn’t inform anybody about where they went but my son wouldn’t get better unless I slept with him to heal him.

“One day, my son came to me and said he wanted to sleep with me. I had no option but to allow it. After having multiple rounds with him, I realized that the sores were healing, and later, he became completely healed.

She now suffers from a strong stench and passes maggots in her urine, a condition she believes is linked to the ritual.

“So, I slept with him several times and after he was completely healed, I started struggling to urinate.

” When I urinate, I get a foul smell and maggots in my urine. I don’t even know where my son is now.

“When I urinate, I see the maggots that were in his thigh sore in my urine and I am struggling to survive,” she said.

  • I really thought Son would score against City – Arteta

I really thought Son would score against City – Arteta

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta admits he really thought Tottenham captain Heung-min Son would score against Manchester City.

Son was denied by City goalkeeper Stefan Ortega with a one-on-one chance, before the visitors won 2-0 in midweek.

Arteta said: “My kids running around the table and going like this [head in hands]. You can imagine. That is magic as well, to have the opportunity to be living it, next to your family and next to your colleagues. Being part of that.”

He added: “If I had to pick a player in the Premier League for that moment, it probably would be him. Michael Jordan explained it many times, how many times he had the winning shot. It was always him. Sometimes yes, sometimes he did not manage to do it. This is the beauty of sport, as well. What can you do?

“The hope was there and it didn’t happen. Now we have to do our job which is going to be tough because Everton are in a good moment. It’s one of the biggest weeks for sure for many of us. Certainly now is the most important moment. Can’t wait for Sunday to be in front of us. Very optimistic for the possible outcome.

“So we have to prove again that we can be better than the opponent and win the game. We have to wish for the best and wish for West Ham to have a really good day and help us to fulfil our dream.”
