Ojukwu’s son tackles his stepmother, Bianca over comment on Biafra, Obiano

The son of late Ikemba Nnewi, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, Emeka Jr and the father’s widow, Bianca are in war of words over Governor Willie Obiano.

Ojukwu’s wife, Bianca, had claimed in one of the interviews she granted one of the National Dailes claimed that the late Ojukwu’ told her a lot of things concerning Biafra and Nigeria war

Bianca said that it was not proper for APGA to name Obiano as Ojukwu’s successor, claiming that the Governor did not know the philosophy of the party despite being the governor.

However, in a statement Thursday in Awka, Chukwuemeka Jr, claimed that his father did not tell anybody anything, adding that Bianca should stop ridiculing the name of the Igbo Icon

Ojukwu’s son who signed the statement as APGA governorship aspirant, said respect should be accorded to Obiano as the governor of the state.

According to him, “I find it exigent from the perspective of an insider, to present the truth so as to preserve and protect the ideals that my late father and mentor held sacred, the good name of H.E. Governor Obiano and the reputation of the Party my father bequeathed to us.

“Given his standing by birth, heritage, disposition and calling, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu never shied away from fully expressing his feelings, observations and apprehensions.

“Having trained first as a historian at Oxford University, I find it difficult to accept that he would resort to oral history with all the known attendant pitfalls.

“As a matter of fact, he documented his views concerning Biafra and Nigeria in books and live interviews for ease of reference. Any attempt therefore, to recast or present his views regarding Biafra or Nigeria without proper references should be considered dead on arrival.

“Claims therefore of what the legend told or did not tell the claimant about Biafra/Nigeria, should be regarded as the views of the said claimant, in pursuit of what, I don’t know.

“I do not need to be tutored in the proclivities, idiosyncrasies and mannerisms of my late father. As such, I therefore, make bold to state without fear of contradiction that the Dikedioranma Ndigbo I know, never equivocated.

“If he had something worthwhile to say on a subject, he would have stated it on record and not passed it through any intermediary.

“Having worked for many years closely with Governor Obiano, I can, with the same level of confidence, state unequivocally, that he did not and would not make the disparaging and false statements towards my late father, attributed to him in that article.

“Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu out of altruism and with respect to the love he had for Ndigbo, donated pro bono his identity and image to the All Progressives Grand Alliance for perpetual appropriation and usage.

“His image remains till date, the oxygen that powers the ideals of APGA. It is therefore preposterous for somebody out there to insinuate that the APGA National Leader and Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano would contemplate and entertain discussion on disconnecting the Party from its lifeline with the claimant of all people. Where? How? When?.

“What I see playing out is frustration occasioned by the reckless, unrestrained, disrespectful expectations of persons who take delight to pontificate on matters about which they know next to nothing.

It is most uncharitable to opine that His Excellency Governor Willie Obiano is the leader of a party whose and I quote: “founding principles, ideology and history he knows next to nothing about,” he said.

`My son was killed in my presence’, woman tells investigative panel

The National Human Rights Commission panel investigating allegations of human rights violations against the disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) heard on Tuesday in Abuja how policemen in Rivers killed a young man in the presence of his mother.

Petitioner Mrs Victoria Agori made the allegation while testifying before the panel on a case she filed asking for the prosecution of the police officers that killed her son, Daniel Agori and the release of his body for burial.

“Justine Adaka gave the order to kill my son and my son was killed right in my presence.

“Daniel Agori did not make any statement before they killed him like a chicken.

“These policemen are bad people. They called me mother of a kidnapper and cultist but my son was neither a kidnapper nor a cultist.

“He was a footballer and hairstylist. He was to travel to Spain.”

When asked by James Idachaba, the respondent’s counsel, if the panel was the only place she had taken her case to, Agori said no, pointing out however, that the Federation of International Women Lawyers and some human rights activists had been helpful.

She told the panel that she had been threatened repeatedly by unknown telephone numbers and that it was due to such threats that she had to leave Port Harcourt.

Agori said that the police had been telling her for over a year that they were investigating the matter but that there had been no outcome on the investigation.

Earlier, Counsel to Agori, Mr Abiodun Olutekunbi, told the panel that the petitioner and her two sons, late Daniel and David and one Silver Ogbonna, Daniel’s fiancé were bundled to the Unit Command at Aluu in Ikwerre, Rivers on May 10, 2019.

He alleged that on arrival at the station, after a brief chat between SP. Justine Adaka and DSP. Yusuf Bello, in the presence of the petitioner the policemen ordered that the Daniel should be killed immediately.

The counsel disclosed that the deceased was detached from a joint handcuff and blindfolded with a shirt and shot to death at point-blank range.

Olutekunbi also alleged that Daniel’s mum was bleeding from her private part because the nozzle of a gun was used by the policemen to assault her.

Asked what he wanted the panel to do for his clients, the lawyer said: “We want the panel to order the prosecution of SP. Justine Adaka, DSP. Yusuf Bello and Musa before a court of competent jurisdiction.

“We also seek the order of the panel for the immediate release of the corpse of Daniel Agori for proper burial.

“We further pray for the order of the panel for compensation of one billion naira.”

He also prayed for an order of the panel to subpoen the public relations officer of the Inspector-General of Police Monitoring Unit in Rivers.

The panel Chairman, Justice Suleiman Galadama, adjourned the matter until Jan. 26 next year for continuation of hearing.

Buba Mohammed a.k.a Mallam, a neighbour to one Aliyu Suleiman, resident of More in Yulde Pate, Yola South Local Government Area of Adamawa State confessed to have connived with a syndicate of kidnappers from Taraba and Adamawa to kidnap Aishatu and her 8 months child.

Buba made the confession to newsmen in Yola while he was being paraded by Adamawa Commissioner of Police, CP Olubenga Adeyanju at the command headquarters.

According to him, a herdsman named Wakili approached him to have a deal of kidnapping his neighbour’s wife saying that his brother who is a top government official in the state will cough out millions of naira as ransom.

While giving details of how he connived with the group of unknown four people, he said he was the one organising and telling them the situation of things during negotiations.

He said the kidnappers on coming to the residence of his neighbour, Aliyu ran away and advised them to kidnap the wife and her eight months son telling them that they will get enough money from the pending deal.

Mohammed while responding to our correspondent, he revealed that he was the one monitoring the happenings around and calling them on phone with the appropriate situation reports.

He confessed to newsmen that the family of Aliyu has been good to him but the devil deceived him to perpetrate the act.

“Honestly, I don’t know them and I don’t know where they have taken them to. All they say was that they will give me money and it was sixty thousand naira of the one million, ten thousand naira they collected as ransom.

“I’m pleading for Mercy, it’s the work of the devil, I don’t really know what has come over me,” he confessed.

Narrating his ordeals, Aliyu said it’s really bad to see Buba aka Mallam who is perceived as a good neighbour do such thing to his family.

He said “the ugly experience of the fateful day of 11th July 2020 can’t be erased in his mind, the kidnappers actually stormed my house to search for me.

Suleiman said what baffled him the most is during the ongoing negotiations to secure his wife and son, the kidnappers tell them exactly what they have agreed to do as a family even before they reached out to them.

“From today, I now understand doing good to people is a serious crime,” he added.

CP Olubenga told journalists that it took them months to arrest them as they don’t stay in one place and the arms dealer who is providing them with arms and ammunition is being trailed.
