SOWORE: Crisis rocks AAC as party expels presidential candidate

The presidential candidate of African Action Congress, AAC, Omoyele Sowore, has been expelled by the party for allegedly hoodwinking the public and collecting money from unsuspecting victims.

This was made known in a statement signed by the National Chairman of the party, Dr. Leonard Nzenwa, and made available to journalists in Abuja.

Leonard further stated that since June 02, 2022, the ‘expelled’ Omoyele Sowere, allegedly commenced working with some forces within and outside the party with the aim to disarray the party, stating that, “it wouldn’t see the light of the day even as the party remains civil, responsible and law-abiding.”

Our next push is to ensure that his name is delisted as our great party’s National Chairman

According to him, “Many mistook this elevated approach of ours as being weak and wondered why we did not adopt the crude and thuggish mannerism of the perpetual lawbreaker and out-of-favour character that cyberstalk everybody in the country for cheap popularity and monetary gains.

“Fact is, his expulsion from the party with his ills is for this same reason and will do the party no good to embrace such despicable behaviour from an individual that nobody would want to relate with.

“In our resolve, therefore, to remain civil and law-abiding in the face of the onslaught from enemies of our great party, we set out first during this period to establish the genuineness of the court judgment which he claimed gave him victory which was a big lie.

“The second thing we did was to counter him and his troop legitimately in court which is still ongoing, and they are literally scampering for safety now!

“Following from above we now directed effort at ensuring that his name was removed as our great party’s presidential candidate, this we also achieved.

“Our next push is to ensure that his name is delisted as our great party’s National Chairman and transmit all our candidates that emerged from our nationwide primaries. We are not relenting on this end.

“All Leaders and State Chairmen are therefore directed to be on high alert as they can be called upon at any time. Finally, we wish to thank all party faithful(s) for their prayers and support”, Leonard added.

Peter Obi not new to the rotten system, he didn’t build any schools – Sowore

The presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, has hit out at his Labour Party counterpart, Peter Obi for being corrupt and part of the rotten system.

Sowore stated this while speaking on Channels Television’s ‘Politics Today’, Friday night.

He said, “Peter Obi is part of the old system that I’ve always fought against. I understand where he is coming from.

“This is 1999 repeating itself – Nigerians want change, some young people are genuinely interested in change to a different direction, and then they are presented with somebody who worked for the establishment; somebody who has been in the Peoples Democratic Party, the All Progressives Grand Alliance, came back to the PDP, and now in the Labour Party. We can be emotional about it but that’s the truth.

“He’s not new to the rotten system. Somebody who was Anambra’s governor for eight years. He didn’t build any schools, he didn’t build any industry, he didn’t build a power station. He’s not my kind of progressive.”

They beat us, deleted recording of Nnamdi Kanu’s trial, Sowore narrates experience after regaining freedom

Popular rights activist, Omoyele Sowore and others arrested during a protest at the Federal High Court, Abuja have been released.

The activists had staged a protest in solidarity with leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Nnamdi Kanu, who is undergoing trial.

A few hours after their arrest, the ‘Buhari-Must-Go’ activist announced he had been released alongside others.

He said: “They have just released us. They dragged, harassed and beat us.

“They took us to the Federal Secretariat Police Station. I told them that they have no right to arrest me.

“I have a right to observe the trial of Nnamdi Kanu. They took our cards and deleted all recordings.”

Reacting, the Coalition of Civil Society condemned the arrest of Sowore and other supporters of the detained IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu.

He said: “We condemn this attack as part of the continuous descent of the country into a brutish state of military repression.

“It is completely unacceptable and we enjoin all Nigerians interested in preserving this country’s hard-earned democracy to condemn this attack on the press, on activists and lawyers today at the Federal High Court in Abuja.

“Today’s protest, as a legitimate action, has been heavily repressed by policemen and the DSS that pick protesters into a fleet of waiting “police vans”.

“This is another example, in a hundred, of the contempt the regime of Major General Buhari (Rtd.) has for the Constitution or the Rule of Law.

“We demand a public apology from the Nigeria police and DSS for this ridiculous and unprofessional action taken against Omoyele Sowore, other journalists and IPOB activists and we ask that proper disciplinary measures be taken on those security officers involved.

“It’s important for you to note that demonstrations and protests are a global phenomenon and are a part of the development of any society.”

The police had arrested him for suspecting he and his supporters were around the court environment to disturb public peace.

After his release, Sowore was seen around the court premises with other youths.
