    How Lagos bank cashier saved a 64-year-old customer from N600,000 fraud- SP Hundeyin

    The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, has revealed how a bank cashier saved a 64-year-old customer from withdrawing N600,000 which she intended to hand over to fraudsters over fear of death.

    Narrating the incident, SP Hundeyin said, “Yesterday at about 1550hrs, a bank cashier noticed that a 64-year-old customer was fidgety, receiving repeated calls and was in a hurry to withdraw N600,000. The cashier asked what the problem was and the woman said she would die if she talked.

    “Police officers from Ogudu Division were quickly contacted. Of the three fraudsters waiting outside, Uche Awaize ‘m’ aged 45 and Osadebe Aigbe ‘m’ aged 35 were arrested. The third suspect bolted.

    “Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects had first collected N90,000 from the woman. Effort is on to arrest the other gang member.

    “PS: Let’s leave their faces open this time so that previous victims can identify & testify against them, and maybe recover their money”

    One Egboka Victory explained that his elder sister believed the same when she encountered the same scam in 2017.

    “She had returned home in the night after giving them over 200k she picked from mom’s home safe, and right there in our living room still saying, “if I talk, I will die,” he said.

    According to one Whitneywhite, “That’s how I was scammed last month too with a sum of 49k, it was phone hypnotism and I paid into access bank of Tunde alabi too…it was supposed to be 49k and 50k but was called before I made the second transaction,I think it was a planned work…this is terrifyingly real.”

    A Nurse, simply identified as methyldopa, applauded the efforts of the police.

    In her words: “You have done well ✌?good job your swift response is applauded, but please don’t blur or cover anybody’s pics henceforth this is the first time you are showing the faces of suspects and names, endeavor to show faces of people from other tribe cos we need a safe and peaceful lagos.”

    Sharing her encounter, Felicity Borle said, “Similar thing happened to me few years back. To the extent I even travelled To Abia state where I haven’t been before to withdraw the last 120 k for dem?‍♀️?‍♀️ . Total money they took from me was 635k . That was the worst experience ever.”

    Lagosian allegedly sets wife ablaze to death, flees

    A man, identified simply as Akpos, has allegedly set his wife, Risikat, ablaze at their residence on Ayide Osolo Street, Divine Estate, in the Ijanikin area of Lagos State.

    TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) gathered that the suspect has been on the run after the incident. Akpos and Risikat were at their residence when an argument ensued between them.

    The argument reportedly degenerated and Akpos, out of annoyance, reached for petrol, poured it on his wife and set her ablaze.

    After perpetrating the crime, Akpos was said to have abandoned the corpse and fled the premises.

    Some good Samaritans reportedly rushed the victim to a nearby hospital for treatment, as the matter was reported at the Ijanikin Police Station for investigation.

    The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, said Risikat sustained severe burns, adding that she died while receiving treatment in the hospital.

    He said: “A case was reported at the Ijanikin Police Station that a woman, Risikat, 48, allegedly had an altercation with her husband and in the process, he poured petrol on his wife and set her ablaze.

    “It resulted in serious bodily burns and she was immediately rushed to a hospital for treatment but she died. Efforts are on to arrest the fleeing husband.”

    In another development, a 25-year-old man has been arrested by the police in Bauchi State for allegedly killing a five-year-old child.

    The suspect, Anas Auwal, reportedly lured the minor with sweets and took him to his room.

    He later contacted the boy’s father and demanded N5m ransom, which the latter could not raise.

    The state Police Public Relations Officer, Ahmed Wakil, a Superintendent of Police, in a statement on Thursday, said the suspect hacked the boy to death after he realized that he recognized him.

    He said the Commissioner of Police in the state, Umar Sanda, had directed that the suspect be charged.

    The statement said, “The command has arrested Anas Auwal, 25, from Tsangaya village via Ningi Local Government Area of Bauchi State for kidnapping and gruesome murder of a five-year-old boy, Abba Yahuza, of the same address.

    “Preliminary investigation revealed that on October 11, 2022, around 2 pm, the suspect lured the victim into his room with sweets. He later called the victim’s father on phone and threatened him to bring the sum of N5m as ransom but the father told him that he could not raise the demanded amount.

    “The suspect later came to realize that the victim knew him and that his identity would be revealed if he released him.

    “Consequently, the suspect decided to hack the victim to death in his room and waited until night time, bundled him in a sack and buried the body in a shallow grave.

    “The suspect has confessed to the crime as the Commissioner of Police, Umar Mamman Sanda, directed that the suspect be charged.

    “In the same vein, the CP advised parents and guardians to be vigilant and security conscious about the whereabouts of their children.”

    Police arrest highway robber on Otedola bridge in Lagos

    A highway robber has been apprehended by operatives of the Nigerian Police on Wednesday in Lagos.

    This piece of information was made known by the  Public Relations Officer of the Lagos State Police Command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin via his Twitter page on Wednesday.

    According to him, the robber was arrested at Otedola bridge in the early hours of Wednesday.

    The Lagos police spokesperson on his Twitter page added that the thief was arrested and dangerous items were recovered from him, including a locally fabricated toy guy.

    SP Hundeyin added that the robber is being interrogated at the moment.

    His tweet reads, “Officers of the Alausa Police Division at 2am today arrested a traffic robber who had in his possession a locally fabricated toy gun and other dangerous items, on Otedola bridge, shortly after robbing a motorist of his valuables.

    “Investigation is ongoing.”

    In the picture of the thief posted by Hundeyin, hand gloves, screwdrivers and a lighter could be seen as the suspect knelt down in the Lagos police custody.
