    How my passion for music led to conflicts with my Dad- Spyro

    Nigerian singer, popularly known as Spyro, has revealed that despite his musical ambition, his father didn’t support the career.

    Speaking on a recent episode of the Tea with Tay podcast, he said that he took up menial jobs like selling recharge cards to foot his bills and also buy studio time to record songs.

    “Being a pastor, my dad never wanted me to do music. I was a fine artist before. I could draw so well, but for one reason or the other, he stopped me from doing that. Then I started music. He also wanted to stop me from doing that then I got rebellious.

    “I have always had a flair for music right from primary school. I was in the church choir. And I was really good. All the choir master’s back then always commended my talent. I was also playing the drum set back then. But my dad never wanted me to do music. It was war. But I knew it was what God has called me to do.

    “After my secondary education, I started recording songs at the studio. I was selling recharge cards back then because I had to make ends meet even though I had parents who were feeding me. But I had to hustle to pay for my lifestyle and book studio time.”

    Following the controversy surrounding his performance at the Harvesters International Gospel Center’s Christmas carol service in Lagos State, Nigerian singer Oludipe David, fondly called Spyro, has defended his performance.

    The singer faced criticisms for performing his hit song “Only Fine Girl” during a drama presentation at the church’s event.

    In response to the backlash, Spyro took to his X account to clarify the situation, stating that despite being a celebrity, he has the right to serve God.

    “Because I am a celebrity, doesn’t make me human?? I can serve God like the rest of you naw. I’ve been a member of Harvesters for well over 7 years, and I serve in two departments.”

    The ‘Who is your guy’ crooner explained that the video circulating on social media captured a segment of a drama presentation he participated in at the church’s annual carol service called Fantasia.

    “The clip making rounds on social media is off a drama I took part of at our annual carol service called Fantasia.”

    Nigerian singer  Oludipe Oluwasanmi David, fondly called spyro has disclosed several beliefs that influence his personal life despite his notoriety.

    The singer stated that one lifestyle he maintains is that he does not smoke, drink, or carry ladies about like a casanova.

    He revealed this in a recent interview with media executive   Chude Jideonwo in which he declared that he has no other negative habits.

    Spyro said: “Even till date, I do not smoke, I don’t drink, and I don’t carry women and all that or any other sort of bad habits.”

    The interviewer asked if he “carries woman,” since he said he does not womanised referring to the male gender.
