Chelsea axe 9 stars from club’s website [See list]

Chelsea’s transfer overhaul continues to make headlines as Raheem Sterling is one of nine players missing from the club’s official first-team squad page.

Sterling, 30, is one player, alongside Ben Chilwell, Axel Disasi, Renato Veiga, Alfie Gilchrist, Carney Chukwuemeka, Lesley Ugochukwu, Armando Broja and David Datro Fofana, who failed to make the cut.

Chelsea are hoping to ship all of these players, with Broja and Ugochukwu set to join Premier League new boys Burnley.

Napoli, Fulham and Bayer Leverkusen have all been linked with a move for Sterling, although no official bid has been made.

Enzo Maresca’s side play pre-season friendly matches against Leverkusen and AC Milan at home before starting their 2025-26 season with a visit from Crystal Palace on August 17th.

Sterling emerges as shock target for EPL rivals

Chelsea winger Raheem Sterling is reportedly a shock target for West London rivals Fulham as he looks set to leave Stamford Bridge this summer.

The 30-year-old has been told he has no future within Enzo Maresca’s squad having spent last season on loan at Arsenal.

Sterling struggled to establish himself in North London, scoring just one goal and providing five assists in his 28 games across all competitions.

According to the Telegraph, Fulham could be set to offer him a lifeline and an opportunity to revive his career after disappointing spells in London so far.

Marco Silva is understood to be pushing the club to bolster their attacking line-up and a player with Sterling’s experience would certainly be a major coup.

He may not have been at his best over the past few seasons but the winger has won four Premier Leagues, among other trophies, throughout his stellar career.

Raheem Sterling netted his first Arsenal goal and Jack Porter became the club’s youngest-ever starter in a 5-1 demolition of Bolton in the League Cup on Wednesday, while Liverpool reached the last 16 with a 5-1 win against troubled West Ham.

Sterling marked his maiden Arsenal start following his transfer deadline day move from Chelsea with a second-half strike in the third-round tie at the Emirates Stadium.

The 29-year-old will hope his goal marks the start of a career revival after a disappointing two-year spell at Chelsea.

Gunners boss Mikel Arteta had made seven changes from Sunday’s stormy 2-2 draw at Premier League champions Manchester City, including giving goalkeeper Porter his record-breaking debut in place of the injured David Raya.

Aged 16 years and 72 days old, Porter was the youngest player ever to start for Arsenal, surpassing the previous record holder Cesc Fabregas, who was 16 years and 177 days when he played against Rotherham in 2003.

Porter was Arsenal’s second youngest ever player overall after Ethan Nwaneri, who was 15 years and 181 days, when he made his debut in 2022.

Declan Rice put Arsenal ahead in north London after 16 minutes with a clinical finish from the edge of the area for his first goal this season.

Fittingly on Porter’s record-setting day, it was Nwaneri who doubled Arsenal’s lead in the 37th minute with his first goal for the club.

EPL: Happy to have Sterling at Arsenal – Havertz

Arsenal star Kai Havertz is convinced of big things from Raheem Sterling at the North London club.

The Chelsea loanee moved to the Gunners on transfer deadline day over a fortnight ago.

Havertz played with Sterling at Chelsea before his departure for the Gunners and he told Stadium Astro: “It’s incredible.

“I had the joy to play with him   at Chelsea. He’s an incredible player. If you see his stats in the Premier League, it’s outstanding.

“You see how much quality he brings to the team and I think we are all very happy to have him.”

Raheem Sterling makes Chelsea transfer decision

Veteran English winger Raheem Sterling has accepted his fate at club level.

The flier now wants to leave Chelsea in a permanent transfer after the club told him he is no longer in their plans.

Sterling, Ben Chilwell, and other first teamers have been frozen out by boss Enzo Maresca.

Per The Mirror, Sterling has accepted the situation and will look to find a club between now and the end of the month.

“I spoke with Raheem before the City game, I said he will struggle to get minutes with us,” coach Enzo Maresca told reporters on Wednesday.

“I don’t think this is brutal, just honest. If (Sterling) wants a chat again I’ll tell him what I already told him.

“I am not saying Raheem is not a good player but I prefer different kinds of wingers. It’s simple.”

REVEALED: Chelsea owner, Boehly confronts Raheem Sterling

Chelsea owner Todd Boehly is said to have confronted a senior player in the dressing room.

The American, whose spell in charge of the club has coincided with a sharp decline in their league position, is under heavy criticism from the fans.

Boehly has overseen a spending spree of more than $1 billion, which has not yielded any results.

Per The Telegraph, Boehly reportedly singled out winger Raheem Sterling after a 2-1 loss at home to Brighton last April.

The American reminded Sterling that he is a world-class player, mentioning his Premier League wins.

However, he added that Sterling was not performing up to standard and that he must improve.

Sterling not in England squad is strange – Defoe

Former Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe says Chelsea attacker Raheem Sterling should be in the England squad.

Sterling has been outstanding for Chelsea this season, but ignored by England coach Gareth Southgate.

Defoe said on Channel 4: “Even in previous squads him not being involved (is strange).

“He has been one of England’s better players over last few years. On current form not only does he get in the squad, but he starts a game like this. He deserves to be in this squad.”

Fellow pundit Joleon Lescott also said: “He’s arguably as in form as anyone else.

“It will be a reason that Sterling won’t understand. When you’re not selected you tend to not understand.

“(But) Southgate knows if he calls upon Sterling in a major tournament then he will step up.”

EPL: Chelsea thrash Burnley in comeback win

Raheem Sterling inspired Chelsea to an impressive 4-1 comeback win as Burnley slumped to their fifth successive Premier League home defeat of the campaign.

Eighteen-year-old French forward Wilson Odobert marked his first Premier League start by drilling low and hard past Robert Sanchez to send home fans into raptures at Turf Moor.

Chelsea were disjointed for spells but were back on level terms before half-time thanks to an unfortunate own goal.

A cross by Sterling, back in the starting XI after a virus, struck the knee of Belgium defender Ameen Al-Dakhil and looped over James Trafford into the net.

Chelsea then scored three times in a strong second-half showing to take the points.

Sterling, who has not featured for England since the World Cup, won a penalty after being fouled by Brazilian defender Vitinho, which allowed Cole Palmer to score his first goal for the Blues since moving from Manchester City.

The four-time Premier League winner with Manchester City then scored his side’s third with an arrowed finish after Conor Gallagher had spotted his run.

Play restarted after Sterling’s goal before referee Stuart Attwell stopped the game as a check by the video assistant referee (VAR) for a potential offside was continuing.

However, the goal was eventually allowed to stand.

Substitute Nicolas Jackson sealed the points with a spin and finish, with Sterling once again involved in the move.

Having won at Fulham on Monday, it is the first time Chelsea have secured back-to-back away wins in the Premier League since October 2022.

  • I will help Sterling end hometown boos – Pochettino

I will help Sterling end hometown boos – Pochettino

Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino insists he can get Raheem Sterling back to his best.

Sterling has been barracked by his own Chelsea fans this season.

But Pochettino said: “Maybe Sunday can change these boos to claps.

“Chelsea always have massive expectations. When you arrive at Chelsea as a player or coaching staff, what do people expect?

“To win and win trophies and to perform and to score.

“Now we have a squad that is young and some players who are a big investment for the club.

“It’s not fair to assess, OK, one game, two games, three games they’re not performing and we paid money and they need to perform like this.

“Always I use the same example. Real Madrid paid a huge fee, I don’t know what, for one player.

“The name was Zinedine Zidane, an amazing player. After six months you can ask the fans of Bernabeu, Real Madrid and people there — ‘What have we bought?’

“And he started to perform after seven, eight months. Zidane was 26, 27 and when you bring a player of 18, 19, 20, 21, be careful, they’re not machines.”

Pochettino admits his young team needs an experienced Sterling back to his best.

He said: “We’re happy because he is a player with experience that can help the young guys to evolve. If we can help the player to improve and be better and score goals and make assists, it’s much, much better for him and for the team.

“I am so happy about his performances and about the way he behaved the last two weeks. He worked really, really hard.

“Now I want to enjoy him. But we were suffering in previous seasons! You can feel that he’s fit, ready to compete, to get to his level and improving. And the last two weeks were important for him also moving forwards.”

  • EPL: Pochettino highlights Sterling leadership after win

EPL: Pochettino highlights Sterling leadership after win

Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino was keen to highlight Raheem Sterling’s leadership qualities after victory over Luton.

Sterling struck in the 3-0 on Friday.

“His commitment in the way he wants to contribute with the team, with his work ethic and quality, he deserves the full credit for his performance,” said Pochettino. “We are very pleased and happy.

“He has the quality and he can provide the team goals and assists. And when we don’t have the ball, he works really hard to recover the ball as soon as possible. I’m so pleased for him.

“He told me last season was a difficult season for him, but I am very pleased when the player is happy. And when an offensive player can score or assist, for us it’s the best feeling.

“In our first conversation with all the players and our first conversation with Raheem, I love to ask the position that they love to play, to find out how they see themselves. It’s like putting the player in front of the mirror.

“It’s not in the end the position that is most important, it’s the combination and the way that the team is going to link in between them. It’s to find the best position in the dynamic of the game we are playing in an offensive situation, to find the best platform and position and link, so the player can provide their best quality.

“That is why the process is really important and time to work, because to create all these links in the way that we want to play and get to know each other, we need time.”
