    Auchi Poly ND 1 student commits suicide

    A 23-year-old student of Auchi Polytechnic has committed suicide.

    According to reports, the National Diploma (ND) 1 student of Public Administration was found dangling from the ceiling of his room on Friday night.

    He was said to have left a terse suicide note behind.

    According to a source who pleaded anonymity, he instructed that his mobile phone be given to one Sandra whom he begged for forgiveness in the suicide note.

    The source said that the Sandra was his girlfriend and that they were course mates.

    “Solomon was in class on Friday and left for home after class. We only came home later in the evening to find him dangling from the ceiling of his room.

    “He was a very quiet boy who took his academics very serious. He doesn’t go out and never showed any sign of depression whatsoever,’’ the source said.

    The polytechnic spokesman, Mr Mustapha Oshiobugie, who confirmed the incident, said he was yet to be briefed on the details.

    In a bid to avoid prosecution by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), a top Nigerian government official has allegedly committed suicide in Abuja, the federal capital territory (FCT).

    Mr Christopher Orji, an assistant director of the National Biotechnology Development Agency (NABDA) was said to have committed suicide at his residence.

    TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports that about 4 p.m. on August 30, Orji’s lifeless body was discovered dangling from a ceiling fan at his home in Federal Housing Authority Estate, Lugbe, Abuja.

    Police homicide detectives were still investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of the 59-year-old, according to sources within NABDA.

    According to reports, he was summoned to the EFCC office in Abuja on the day he was discovered dead.

    However, one of the agency’s employees, who asked to remain anonymous, claimed Orji could not have killed himself because no suicide note was found at his home.

    Nkiru Amakeze, NABDA’s Acting Head of Communications and Protocol, declined to comment when contacted.

    “So, what exactly do you want me to say now? Please understand that I am unable to comment on the matter,” Amakaeze simply stated to our reporter.

    Orji was the coordinator of the NABDA’s Bioresource Centre in Langtang, Plateau State, until his death.

    The Police Command in Jigawa said that a house wife, Maimuna Wadaji, has been hospitalised after attempting to commit suicide in Dutse Local Government Area of the state.

    The command’s Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Lawan Shiisu, confirmed this in Dutse.

    He explained that the victim allegedly committed the offence after she became aware of her husband’s plan to remarry his ex-wife.

    The PPRO added that the police, upon receipt of the information, moved to the scene and rushed the victim to Federal University Teaching Hospital, Dutse, for medical attention.

    “On Friday, at about 10:00hrs, information was received by the police that one Maimuna Wadaji of Rungumau village, Dutse LGA, attempted suicide, where she bathed with petrol and put fire on herself.

    “And later shouted and called for help where she was rushed to FUD Teaching Hospital Dutse for treatment,” the police spokesman said.

    According to him, the victim will be charged to court as soon as she is discharged from the hospital.

    Porn star Dahlia Sky commits suicide after battling terminal breast cancer, depression

    Popular US porn star, Dahlia Sky who had been living in her car, allegedly died after she shot herself in the head, Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office said.

    Dahlia, 31, was found dead in the vehicle on June 30.

    Sky, who would have celebrated her 32nd birthday next month, had been diagnosed with breast cancer and was suffering from depression at the time of her death, the Sun reported.

    Sky’s body was found in the vehicle in the San Fernando Valley’s Devonshire area, Los Angeles Police Department detective Dave Peteque told AVN.

    Police are awaiting autopsy results from the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner, the coroner added.

    TheNewsGuru recalls that Sky began adult entertainment work in 2010 under the name Bailey Blue. She changed it in 2014 following a cease-and-desist from a clothing company of the same name, according to AVN — and proceeded to accrue more than 600 credits, as well as various industry awards.

    She was open about her battle with stage 4 metastatic breast cancer and depression on social media.

    A soldier attached to 243 Recce Battalion Ibereko, Badagry, LCP Mahmud Sulaiman, turned the gun on himself after he shot dead a customs officer at Seme border on Wednesday.
    According to reports, the incident occurred when the team leader was trying to retrieve the gun from Sulaiman following his strange behavior.
    “In the process of retrieving the cocked weapon from him, which he resisted, he accidentally fired a shot and the stray bullet hit one Inspector of Custom, C.N Walter.
    “The customs officer, who was attached to Seme Border Area Command, was rushed to Badagry General Hospital for treatment.
    “But unfortunately, the customs officer died at about 6:40 a.m. on Thursday in the hospital.
    “Subsequently, Sulaiman also shot himself and died on the spot,” the source said.
    The incident occurred at about 7:45 p.m. on Wednesday at Oloko checkpoint, Gbaji on Badagry-Seme expressway.
    It was learnt that Sulaiman, who was recently redeployed to the Ibereko Battalion from the Theater of Operation in the North-East, had been behaving abnormally since assumption of duty in Badagry.
    “He always cock his AK 47 rifle fully loaded with ammunition, an action that made his Team Leader to report the matter to the Commanding Officer of 243 Recce Battalion, Col. Nicholas Rume, where he was serving.
    “The commanding officer immediately ordered for the retrieval of the weapon from him,” he said.
    Contacted, the Customs Public Relations Officer in Seme border, Mr Abdulahi Hussiain, confirmed the incident, saying that the situation is under control.
    “It is true, it was an accident but the situation is under control now.
    “It is unfortunate the soldier committed suicide,” he said.

    A cadet of the Nigerian Correctional Service in Kaduna State, Mansur Suleiman has committed suicide.

    The incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday.

    The deceased was among the cadets that are attending the 28th assistant superintendent correctional basic course at the Nigerian Correctional Service staff college in Kaduna State.

    According to a statement by the commandant of the college, Peter Pevigo, the late cadet Mansur Suleiman committed suicide in the college hostel when his roommates had gone out for early morning prayers on Wednesday morning.

    The commandant who expressed shock over the incident also directed that a thorough investigation into the circumstances leading to the death of the cadet be carried out immediately

    Abia University student arrested for faking own kidnap

    A 200 level Political Science student of Abia State University (ABSU), George Nnamdi, who faked his kidnap, has been arrested.

    Nnamdi reportedly staged his kidnap after a female student who was recently abducted regained freedom.

    Speaking to newsmen after his arrest, the suspect said he sent a text message to his friend that he had been kidnapped by six men wielding AK-47 rifles.

    He noted that he had no criminal intention in engaging in such act and appealed for forgiveness for the pains caused the University as a result of such act.

    The friend of the suspect, a 300 level mass communication student, Faith Godson, said after she received the text message from Nnamdi, she alerted the University security team, which swung into action and arrested him at his hideout outside the University campus.

    Reacting to the incident, the chief security officer ABSU, Retired Navy Commander, ThankGod Evulobi, said they received a distress call that a student had been kidnapped, only to discover that Nnamdi faked his kidnap.

    He said appropriate action will be taken against the supposed victim in line with the rules and regulations guiding University.

    As at the time of filing this report, the suspect was still in the custody of ABSU security while the verdict of the university senate is being awaited.

    JUST IN: 200 Level student of Ondo University commits suicide

    The Adekunle Ajasin University community in Akungba Akoko, Ondo state was thrown into mourning on Thursday after a 200 level of the institution, Feranmi Fasunle Omowunmi reportedly committed suicide.

    Omowunmi, with the matriculation number 180503006 who was of the Political Science Department in the university reportedly drank sniper on Wednesday.

    As at the time this report was filed the exact reasons for her action remained unknown

    It was learnt that she took the deadly substance in her room in the Akungba community.

    According to reports, she was immediately rushed to the institution’s health centre by her friends and was later taken to another Specialist Hospital in lkare. Thereafter, she was referred to the Federal Medical Center FMC in Owo on Wednesday where she eventually gave up the ghost on Thursday.

    Speaking to newsmen on the incident, the Head, Information, Protocol and Public Relations, Victor Akinpelumi said ” l can confirm that the incident is true but the reason why she took that decision is still sketchy as none of her close friends and colleagues could state the reason for why she decided to die in such way.

    ‘Buhari failed three times’, OAU reacts as student commits suicide

    The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Mr. Abiodun Olarewaju, has said that the suicide committed recently by a student of the university was not as a result of academic failure.

    Olarewaju, who stated this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), on Wednesday, in Ile-Ife, added that failure in life go beyond academic performance.

    Emmanuel Adedeji, a 200-level student of Management and Accounting of the University, committed suicide recently.

    Olanrewaju asserted that people failed in different human endeavours, noting that whenever such happened, taking one’s life should not be the next thing.

    “So, whether you are wealthy, in middle or lower class of the society, individuals have different challenges in life,” he said.

    The university image maker admonished people to take things easy, saying that excellence in academic performance does not mean that one would make it in life.

    “And failure academically doesn’t mean that things would not go well with such a person in the future.

    “Dropping out of school doesn’t mean total failure in one’s life time. Dangote is not a professor, but the richest man in Africa.

    “To the Glory of God, President Muhammadu Buhari failed three times, to clinch the job. But when he contested the fourth time, he won; now running his second term.

    “President Joe Biden of USA had so many matrimonial calamities; lost a son, a wife, but today he is the President of USA,” the PRO explained.

    Olarewaju advised all and sundry not to write themselves off and contemplate suicide.

    A 200-level student of the Management and Accounting department of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) Ile-Ife, Osun State Emmanuel Adedeji has committed suicide.

    According to reports, Adedeji took Sniper in the school premises and died a few minutes later.

    A student of the institution confirmed the development. He said Adedeji’s corpse was discovered behind the Mechanical department popularly known as Spider building.

    OAU Public Relation Officer Abiodun Olarewaju confirmed the development.

    He said: “We appeal to parent and guidance to please let their children know that failure or depression occasioned by whatever suicide should not be an option.

    “We want to sympathise with the parent and friends of the deceased. The boy was at his formative age. We heard that the boy left a suicide note. It pains us that the boy is dead. The reason for is action is not yet known.”
