    Brother of former-Super Eagles midfielder Ogenyi Onazi involved in motor accident

    The brother of Super Eagles midfielder, Ogenyi Onazi, Oche Onazi have been involved in a ghastly accident.

    The ex-Lazio star disclosed that Ann died in a car accident on June 18 while she was travelling with her husband Oche Onazi.

    Oche, Onazi’s elder brother, according to his Instagram bio, is a principal planning and research officer at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Abuja.

    Sharing the video of the wreck, his brother at the hospital and some persons in handcuffs, via his verified Instagram on Friday, Onazi said a truck driver rammed into over 10 vehicles, leading to the death of several persons including his sister-in-law.

    The 31-year-old called on the authorities to pay attention to driving license.

    Onazi wrote: “This is a message to the federal government of Nigeria.. and the federal @frscnigeria.

    “On Tuesday 18th, at about 4pm my elder brother @onazithmps was driving with his wife to visit someone.

    “On the traffic then came this truck loaded with fertilizer without control to crash more than 10 cars killed my brothers wife instantly. My brother managed to survival with several dislocated joint arranged for surgery, with other people dead.”

    Former Super Eagles captain and Chelsea Football club defensive Midfielder, John Obi Mikel has announced his retirement from professional football after 20 years of meritorious service.

    Obi hung his boot at the prime age of 35 with lots of trophies in his cabinet.

    Some of the trophies Obi won include the AFCON for Nigeria, third place medals, Champions and Europa league trophies among many other laurels in his footballing career.

    The former Nigeria skipper announced  his retirement on Tuesday on his social media account with an emotional note to his fans.

    “There is a saying that “all good things must come to an end”, and for my professional football career, that day is today.

    “I look back at the past 20 years of my career, and I must say that I am very satisfied with all that I was able to achieve and, more importantly, the human it has helped shape.

    “All of this would not have been possible without the unwavering support of my family, managers, clubs, coaches, teammates and most importantly, my ever-loyal fans.

    “You supported me through my highs and lows, even on days that I did not live up to your expectations. I say a big thank you.

    “I will also like to encourage everyone who I may have inspired one way or the other in the course of my career to never give up on their dreams, for every time you think about quitting, remind yourself why you started.

    “This is not goodbye, it’s the start of another journey, another chapter of my life. I look forward to what the future holds, and I hope you will walk with me. Thank you”, he wrote.

    Mikel started his career with a local club, Plateau United, before joining a Norwegian club, Lyn Oslo, at the age of 17 in 2004.

    He made a controversial transfer to English club Chelsea after Manchester United claimed they had already signed him.

    Super Eagles winger  Chidera Ejuke has stated reasons he left CSKA Moscow to join Hertha Berlin in the German Bundesliga.

    Ejuke joined Hertha Berlin on loan from CSKA and he could be retained should he impress at the German club side,

    On Wednesday, Hertha posted an announcement on its website regarding the acquisition of Ejuke.

    The Nigerian claimed that he joined the team to increase their chances of winning championships.

    “I’m looking forward to playing for Hertha, to the Bundesliga, and this special challenge. I want to do my bit in helping the club achieve its goals,” said the 24-year-old after joining the ‘Old Lady’ from Moscow.

    “Chidera has proven himself in several European leagues already and brings good skills alongside speed and versatility. We’re sure that he’ll improve our game with his abilities,” Fredi Bobic said on the attacker’s arrival, who feels best on the left wing.

    Since the summer of 2020, Nigerian international Ejuke has been playing football in Russia. In 65 competitive appearances, he has scored 10 goals and assisted on eight others.

    The attacker has so far earned eight caps for the Super Eagles after his performances earned him a nomination for the senior Nigerian national team in October 2020.

    The right-footed attacker had 29 games with 16 goal involvements for SC Heerenveen in the Eredivisie before his time in Russia.

    Before that, between 2017 and 2019, Ejuke played for Vlerenga Football in Norway, where he made 69 appearances while tallying 15 goals and 6 assists.

    The attacker transitioned to playing professional football in his native Nigeria, where he first played for Supreme Court FC before moving on to Gombe United.

    Chidera Ejuke is a Nigerian professional footballer who plays as a left winger for Bundesliga club Hertha BSC on loan from Russian Premier League club CSKA Moscow and the Nigeria national team.

    Super Eagles and Everton midfielder, Alex Iwobi, is still in joyous mood after his club Everton defeated Chelsea 1-0 in their quest to escape relegation in the English Premier League on Sunday afternoon.

    Richarlison capitalized on a defensive mix-up from the hosts to net the winner in the second half.

    Evertoon bagged the maximum points in the encounter to continue pushing up their quest to stay afloat in the EPL.

    Iwobi played the entire 90 minutes at Stamford Bridge and put in a typically industrious performance.

    After the match, he tweeted: “The Blue Flame is Still Burning!”

    Iwobi has scored two goals and provided one assist in 23 Premier League games this season.

    Everton are currently 18th in the Premier League with 32 points from 33 games.
