  • We’ve paid match bonuses, allowances to Super Falcons – NFF President

We’ve paid match bonuses, allowances to Super Falcons – NFF President

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has said that as at Friday last week, the match bonuses and allowances for the Super Falcons have been settled.

The NFF President, Ibrahim Gusau disclosed this on Thursday in Abuja, when he appeared before the House Adhoc committee investigating the dispute between the Super Falcons and NFF.

Chairman of the Adhoc Committee, Blessing Onu, queried the unpaid allowances for the Super Falcons in 2019 FIFA women’s world cup.

Gusau explained that no funding was released for participation but that in the 2023 FiFA women’s world cup hosted by Australia and New Zealand $960,000 was given to all 32 countries that qualified.

According to him, this preparation money provided by FIFA is to be used by this countries to prepare the teams for the world cup.

“We can’t use this money to pay outstanding allowances for 2019 FIFA women’s world cup”, he said.

Rep. Onu had earlier questioned how the NFF was able to fund the Super Falcons in the 2019 FIFA women’s world cup hosted by France.

Hon. Onu who was not satisfied with the NFF response, further ruled that the document of how the Super Falcons were funded in the 2019 FIFA women’s world cup, the breakdown of match bonuses payments and its slips for 23 players and the coaching crew be provided by NFF before 30th August, 2023.

Going by the ad-hoc Committee’s findings on how the NFF is being funded, the NFF President revealed that they usually get funded by CAF and FIFA.

Speaking further, the NFF noted that no payment is being gotten from the federal government for its staff and officials rather the federation gets its operational cost from FIFA.

“The Confederation of African Football (CAF) provides $250,000 per annum as subvention fund”, said the NFF President.

  • NFF President summoned again over allowance owed Super Falcons

NFF President summoned again over allowance owed Super Falcons

The ad hoc committee investigating the face-off between Super Falcons and Officials of the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) has once again summoned Ibrahim Gusau, the president of the federation.

Rep. Blessing Onu, the Chairman of the ad hoc committee investigating the face off, reinvited Gusau after he failed to appear on Tuesday.

Re-inviting the NFF president, Onu said the sitting of the committee was not to witch hunt anyone but to discharge its functions in line with the mandate of the House.

Onuh who issued the notice, frowned at the NFF President’s deliberate refusal to honour the invitation of the Ad hoc committee.

According to her, the NFF president was supposed to appear before the ad hoc committee in Aug. 17 , the reasons the NFF president gave were not as important as the work of this ad hoc committee.

“Nigerians are interested, Nigerians are watching. The girls did extremely well and they made Nigerians proud, so we shouldn’t take this investigative hearing likely.

“We gave an opportunity for the president of NFF to appear before this Ad hoc committee, I will say invariably he is the one summoning us.

“He came up with an excuse that it is not as important as what we have. The allowances and the dues that were supposed to be paid to the female footballers, the Super Falcons and he turned it down,

“What is more important is for him to attend the FIFA Women Convention or to appear before this committee.

” And even at that he has the effrontery to send his SA that he won’t be able to make it, it simply means he is taking us for granted, he is taking us for a ride and we will not tolerate it we will not,” she said

Speaking earlier, the NFF Secretary General, Dr Mohammed Sanusi said the NFF President could not attend the investigative hearing because of his ill-health.

The ad hoc committee however walked out the Secretary-General and his team who came to represent the NFF president.

Meanwhile, some concerned members of the committee who did not want their name mentioned at the sideline of the investigative hearing, accused Adams of frustrating the exercise.

They alleged that the NFF President was asked not to appear before the committee.

Super Falcons midfielder, Ngozi Okobi knocks journalists, says she hates Nigeria media

Ngozi Okobi has knocked Nigerian journalist over a recent publication by a Lagos-Based online platform where she bared her mind on being replaced in the World Cup list by Toni Payne.

Okobi had granted an interview with the online platform where she spoke about missing the World Cup, her replacement with Toni Payne  and what she would have done if she was listed.

According to her, the Nigerian team was lacking that creative spark in the midfield and she would have provided that if she were selected for the tournament.

“I’m not saying that they miss me. I missed myself, I would use that word instead. I missed myself in such games because that’s the kind of games I play and play very well.

“Why did I say so? I’m not trying to brag here. I’m not trying to call myself one of the best, but I feel like Super Falcons still need a player like me in their team.

“We still haven’t gotten a creative player. I might not be the strongest player on earth to be in that team, but I have talent that I don’t think anyone could replace right now. So, they lack that.”

However, the Midfield maestro reacted via  her facebook page, where she made some clarifications.

She wrote ”Why do you all journalist like making things escalate like this. Is it not enough from all this okobi said about Tony Payne.

”You all know it wasn’t what I meant, probably a wrong choice of word saying ‘SHE IS NOT THERE YET’ while you know very well I praised her effort by even writing her to commend her.
Yet you all keeping making it one big story.
”Are you all not tired of all this?
You keep writing and writing, this is almost leading me to depression seeing the kind of comment from Nigerians.
”Pulse Sports Nigeria After how many days you still went ahead to make it fresh again, you’re wicked for real.
See A lot have happened to me during this World Cup, can you all journalist let me breath?
”Or do you want to start posting RIP from the damage you all have cost”
    God….. I hate Nigeria media

“The dedication and resilience you displayed on the field has earned Mr President and other Nigerians immense respect and admiration.

“This could only have been accomplished through good team spirit, handwork and discipline.

“Although the final result did not go our way, victory is not solely determined by the result on the field, however, the unbreakable spirit and unity that you demonstrated are true markers of success.

“The entire world noticed the unwavering strength and zeal that defines Nigeria through the posterity you displayed on the soccer field.

“I celebrate all of you for displaying high level of true sportsmanship on the pitch.

He promised that all the entitlements of the team and their officials shall be paid accordingly.

“I want to express our gratitude to you for being part of the send off organised for the team before their departure to Australia, it really serves as a morale booster to the team.

“By reason of their round of 16 at the FIFA World Cup, the players will earn a sum of 60,000 dollars each, the NFF really wanted the team to go further in order for the players to earn more money which they truly deserve.
