Sylvester Oromoni: Lagos police warn against any further protests

The Police in Lagos State have warned the general public against engaging in any further protests after the autopsy report on the cause of Sylvester Oromoni’s death has been released.

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports Oromoni was a student of Dowen College, Lekki, Lagos, who died after he was allegedly bullied by his fellow students in school.

However, autopsy reports on the deceased recently released and interpreted, absolved Dowen College, staff and students of complicity in the death of the budding young boy.

Since the death of Oromoni, several groups, including an Ijaw group have staged protests at the school gate of Dowen College, with the father of Oromoni saying his child will not be buried until he gets justice.

While speaking with journalists, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu stated that he would not tolerate protests over the outcome of investigations on the death of Oromoni.

Odumosu urged members of the public that are not satisfied with the outcome to seek redress in court.

“Much as we commiserate with the bereaved family on the death of their lovely and promising child, it is advised that the protesters and other individuals or groups who are still aggrieved should go to the law court to seek redress instead of taking the law into their own hands.

“We only investigated criminal aspect, doctors investigated the medical aspect, the Ministry of Education now investigated that other administrative aspect of the school, that was why the school was shut down and still being shut down,” Odumosu said.

The Ijaw Youth Council had on Thursday insisted on getting justice for Oromoni while staging a protest in front of the school, insisting that Dowen College cannot resume when justice was yet to be served on the matter.

The late student is from the Ijaw-speaking part of Delta State.

Oromoni: Until I get justice, I won’t bury my son, even if it takes 30 yrs – Sylverster’s dad vows

Sylvester Oromoni, the father of the late 12-year-old student of Dowen College, Lekki, Lagos, Sylvester Oromoni Jnr, has vowed that even it takes 30years he won’t bury his son.

The agonised dad kicked against the report of the autopsy carried out at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja, alleging that there was foul play.

Sylvester’s death went viral following a social media post by his cousin, Perry Oromoni, who alleged that some senior pupils of the school beat him up in his hostel because he refused to join a cult.

The school denied the claim, stating that the boy complained of leg pains following an injury he sustained while playing football.

The state government ordered the indefinite closure of the school pending the outcome of an investigation into the matter.

But in a new twist, the police exonerated all those involved claiming that the lad died due to natural causes.

Five students and five employees of the school were arrested by the police but legal advice by the Directorate of Public Prosecutions, Adetutu Oshinusi, cleared the suspects.

The autopsy carried out by a consultant pathologist at the Central Hospital Warri, Clement Vhriterhire, revealed that Sylvester died of “acute lung injury due to chemical intoxication in a background of blunt force trauma.”

But the interim and final autopsy report by LASUTH attributed the cause of death to “Septicaemia, lobar pneumonia with acute pyelonephritis and pyomyositis of the right ankle.”

However, the outgoing Commissioner of Police in the state, Hakeem Odumosu, on Friday said the toxicology report of the first autopsy carried out in Warri was released on December 30, 2021, signed by Vhriterhire, attributing cause of death to “acute bacteria pneumonia due to severe sepsis.”

Sylvester Snr and a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Femi Falana, had kicked against the DPP’s advice with the latter describing the report as “escapist and hasty.”

Falana had said, “The report has not laid to rest the allegations surrounding the gruesome murder of Sylvester Oromoni.

“The report is escapist and hasty as the authorities are aware of the fact that the Chief Coroner of Lagos State has ordered that an inquest be conducted into the circumstances surrounding the unnatural death of Sylvester Oromoni. The inquest, which commenced before the coroner on December 16, 2021, has been adjourned till January 15, 2022 for further hearing.”

Speaking to our correspondent on Friday the father said the case had yet to have a closure, insisting that his son would not be buried until “justice is served” even if it took as long as 30 years.

He said, “The family does not have power. We only rely on God. If they insist that the school will reopen, there is no problem. If God keeps me for 20 or 30 years, I will follow up this case. Government will come, the government will go. I am not bothered. The soul of that boy is crying round. God is alive; He cannot be bribed.

“My son will never be buried. If it takes me 30 years to get justice, he would remain there (in the mortuary). He is my son; I won’t bury him. Nigerians should look beyond what they are saying.”

Asked if he had any doubt over the autopsy released by the state government, he retorted “Do they have any autopsy report? They don’t have any. The doctor that did the autopsy in Delta State was recommended by the Area Commander. He is not the family doctor. We don’t know him. Our lawyer applied to the Area Command to get a copy of the autopsy.”

But Odumosu, during a press briefing held at the police headquarters in Ikeja on Friday and tagged ‘Sylvester Oromoni Jnr: Update on Investigation,’ dismissed any foul play.

He said eight persons–five pupils and three house masters – were arrested following a petition to the police on the matter, adding that on December 9, 2021, he interviewed the late pupil’s family, the school management, and witnesses at the command’s headquarters.

He said, “During the open interview, it was unanimously agreed that another autopsy should be carried out where pathologists from all parties would be present. Investigation was extended to Delta State and Abuja. I will like to state here that investigation revealed that the same case was reported at the Area Command Warri, Delta State, on December 1, 2021.

“It has also been established that a post mortem examination was initially carried out on December 2, 2021 by a Consultant Pathologist, Dr. Clement Vhriterhire of the Central Hospital, Warri, Delta State. The result of the first autopsy dated December 10, 2021 attributed the cause of death to ‘acute lung injury due to chemical intoxication in a background of blunt force trauma.’

“However, toxicology screening was recommended and also carried out. While waiting for the result of the toxicology, another autopsy was ordered by the Coroner Magistrate in Lagos because of the status of jurisdiction. The corpse was, therefore, moved with armed police escorts from Delta State to Lagos State by TOS Funeral and the autopsy conducted at the expense of the Lagos State Government. The second autopsy was carried out at the Lagos state University Teaching Hospital on December 14, 2021 in the presence of representatives of all the parties involved in the case.”

The CP said the second autopsy was carried out by the Consultant Pathologist and Chief Examiner, Department of Pathology and Forensic Sciences, LASUTH, Dr. S.S Soyemi, witnessed by representatives of all the parties, including Vhriterhire, as well as police officers, among other principal officials.

Odumosu said the final results of the post mortem and toxicology examination conducted at Delta and Lagos states agreed that the deceased died a natural death.

He stated, “Before the expiration of the 21 days remand order, the families of the students applied for their bail at the Magistrates’ Court 1 Yaba. The application was approved hence the students who were earlier remanded at Boys Home, Oregun, were granted bail. The house masters were also granted bail after the expiration of the 21 days remand order.

“The result of the second autopsy carried out in Lagos was released on December 21, 2021. The result attributed the cause of death to ‘Septicaemia, lobar pneumonia with acute pyelonephritis and pyomyositis of the right ankle.’ On December 30, 2021, the toxicology screening results of the first autopsy carried out in Warri was released. The result issued and signed by Dr Clement Vhriterhire, the same doctor who carried out the initial autopsy, attributed the cause of death to ‘acute bacteria pneumonia due to severe sepsis.’

“At the end of diligent investigation carried out so far, there is no evidence to establish a case of torture, bullying and forceful application of poisonous substance against the suspects. All the suspects denied the allegations of torture, bullying and administering of poisonous substance to the deceased. Allegation that the deceased was being forced to join a cult group was also not established as other students interviewed denied this.”

Dowen College: Police clarify cause of Sylvester Oromoni’s death

The police command in Lagos State has confirmed that the death of 12-year-old Dowen College’s student, Master Sylvester Oromoni Jnr., is from natural causes.

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr Hakeem Odumosu, confirmed this while addressing journalists at the command’s headquarters in Ikeja.

Odumosu noted that the case had attracted reactions from different quarters, with some parents insinuating a cover-up.

He said that the reactions and insinuations necessitated the clarification.

Odumosu said that five students and three house masters of Dowen College were released following autopsy results which showed that they were not culpable.

He said that all the parties in the case, including the deceased’s family, the school management and witnesses, were interviewed by him at the headquarters.

“During the open interview, it was unanimously agreed that another autopsy should be carried out where pathologists from all parties would be present.

“Investigation was extended to Delta State and Abuja.

“Gentlemen of the press, I will like to state here that investigation revealed that same case was reported at Area Command, Warri, Delta State, on Dec. 1, 2021.

“It has also been established that a post mortem examination was initially carried out on Dec. 22, 2021, by a Consultant Pathologist, Dr Clement Vhriterhire of the Central Hospital, Warri.

“The result of the first autopsy dated Dec. 10, 2021, attributed the cause of death to ‘acute lung injury due to chemical intoxication in a background of blunt force trauma’.

“However, toxicology screening was recommended and also carried out.

“While waiting for the result of the toxicology, another autopsy was ordered by the Coroner Magistrate in Lagos because of the status of jurisdiction.

“The corpse was, therefore, moved with armed police escorts from Delta State to Lagos State by TOS Funeral, and the autopsy conducted at the expense of the Lagos State Government.

“The second autopsy was carried out at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital on Dec. 14, 2021, in the presence of representatives of all the parties involved in the case,” he said.

Odumosu said the result of the second autopsy carried out in Lagos was released on Dec. 21, 2021, and that the result attributed the cause of the death to septicaemia, lobar pneumonia with acute pyelonephritis and pyomyositis of the right ankle.

“On Dec. 30, 2021, the toxicology screening result of the first autopsy carried out in Warri was released.

“The result issued and signed by Dr Clement Vhriterhire, same doctor who carried out the initial autopsy, attributed the cause of the death to ‘acute bacterial pneumonia due to severe sepsis’.

“At the end of diligent investigation carried out so far, there is no evidence to establish a case of torture, bullying and forceful application of poisonous substance against the suspects.

“All the suspects denied the allegations of torture, bullying and administering of poisonous substance to the deceased,” the commissioner of police said.

He said that an allegation that the deceased was being forced to join a cult group was not established as other students interviewed denied it.

According to him, final results of the post mortem and toxicology examination conducted both at Warri and in Lagos agreed that the deceased died naturally.

“For purpose of clarification, it is pertinent to convey to members of the public, in simple terms, the commentary/submission of Dr S. S. Soyemi, Consultant pathologist who led a team of pathologists to carry out the autopsy, thus:

‘Sylvester Oromoni Jnr., a 12-year-old student of Dowen College, Lekki, Lagos, reportedly died on Nov. 30, 2021, at a private hospital in Warri, Delta State.

‘It was alleged that the deceased was physically assaulted and poisoned in the school prior to death.

‘The first autopsy was done in Warri on Dec. 2, 2021. Following an order for a second autopsy, the body of the deceased was brought to Lagos for a second autopsy.

‘Our findings at the second autopsy include marked pallor of organs, pneumonia (infection of the lungs), infections of the liver and kidneys as well as the heart.

‘These infections emanated from the ankle infection described earlier in the report. Microscopic sections also confirmed these findings.

‘Death was caused by Septicaemia following infections of the lungs and kidneys arising from the ankle wound.

‘No evidence of blunt force trauma in this body. The findings in the oesophagus and stomach are not compatible with chemical intoxication. Death in this case is natural’.”

Odumosu, who was recently promoted to an Assistant Inspector-General (AIG), said the case file was duplicated and sent to Lagos State Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for advice.

He said the legal advice indicated that there was no prima facie case of murder, involuntary manslaughter and/or malicious administering of poison with intent to harm, against the students and the house masters; hence, they could not be prosecuted.

“They were all released on bail. The final result of the autopsy and DPP advice were officially released by the state government earlier in the week,” Odumosu said.

He commiserated with the bereaved family and advising individuals and groups still aggrieved to seek redress in court.

Sylvester Oromoni: Why we exonerated Dowen College students, others – DPP

Lagos State Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP) has explained further why the state exonerated five students and five officials of Dowen College, Lagos State, suspected to be linked to the death of a student, Master Sylvester Oromoni.

A competent source in the directorate, who pleaded anonymity, gave the explanation on Thursday in Lagos, saying that investigations did not establish any prima-facie case of murder against the accused.

He denied allegations of foul play and coverup being peddled on social media, while speaking with NAN.

Recall that Oromoni died on Nov. 30, 2021. He was alleged to have been beaten by fellow students.

The source said that two autopsies were conducted on the deceased to unravel the cause of his death.

The first autopsy was conducted by the Oromoni family in Warri, Delta, and the second by the Lagos State Government, according to the source.

They showed that the late Oromoni developed severe septicemia (sepsis) as a result of an infection on his right ankle.

The first autopsy conducted on Dec. 2, 2021, by Dr Clement Vhriterhire, a Consultant Pathologist with Central Hospital Warri, was witnessed by three other persons – an uncle of the deceased, Chief Opudu Boro, the investigating police officer and a lawyer.

The result of the autopsy conducted in Warri revealed acute bacteria pneumonia, acute pyelonephritis, acute bacterial hepatitis, acute gastritis and cerebral oedema with raised intra-cranial pressure.

It revealed the cause of death as acute bacteria pneumonia due to severe sepsis.

The toxicology results also stated that there was “no elevation of any known chemicals and substances of abuse in our clime.”

The second autopsy conducted in Lagos on Dec. 14, 2021, by Dr S.S. Soyemi, a Consultant Pathologist at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, was witnessed by 14 people including seven pathologists other doctors and police officers.

The seven pathologists included four pathologists, who each represented Dowen College and three of the accused students.

Vhriterhire, the Consultant Pathologist, who conducted the first autopsy in Warri, Delta was also present.

The result of the autopsy conducted in Lagos revealed marked pallor of organs, pneumonia (infection of the lungs), infection of the liver, kidney and heart.

“These infections emanated from the ankle infection described earlier in the report. Microscopic sections also confirmed these findings.

“Death was from septicemia, following infections of the lungs and kidneys arising from ankle wound.

“No evidence of blunt force trauma in this body. The findings in the oesophagus and stomach are not compatible with chemical intoxication. Death in this case is natural,” the result stated.

The DPP had stated in Paragraphs Three and Four of its advice dated Jan. 4 that the late student, on Nov. 20 2021, and Nov. 21, 2021, suffered injuries while playing football with his friends in school and was taken to a sickbay by his friend and was released to his family on Nov. 23, 2021.

The late Oromoni was taken to Warri by his father on Nov. 26, 2021, and was being treated at home by a medical doctor, according to the DPP advice.

The DPP also stated in the advice that while being treated at home, the deceased told a family friend names of some senior students of the college who allegedly beat him for refusing to join a secret group.

It added that the deceased alleged that he was given an obnoxious substance by the senior students to drink.

On Nov. 29, 2021, the deceased was taken to a diagnostic centre at Warri for a scan which revealed hepatomegaly due to acute viral hepatitis, according to advice.

On Nov. 30, 2021, his condition deteriorated and he allegedly died while being rushed to the hospital, it added.

    …queries twist in unfolding drama

…says legal advice are different from the oral statement from his son

The agony of a bereaved father re-echoes as Sylvester Oromoni Snr cries out over alleged twist as he states that the autopsy report and legal advice are different from the oral statement from his son before he died.

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports Oromoni Snr insists his schoolmates said he was tortured and given an unknown substance suspected to be poison which led to his death.

To this end, Senior Oromoni has accused the Lagos state government and Nigerian Police of colluding to cover up the events surrounding the death of his 11-year-old son Sylvester Jnr who died on the 30th of November, 2021.

Oromoni made the allegation in reaction to the Lagos State Government’s decision to drop the charges against the five suspects arrested, and clear Dowen College of wrongdoing.

The Lagos state government in the Legal advice released by its Department of Public Prosecution DPP said the five students and five school officials should be released from police custody as the autopsy carried out on the remains of late Oromoni ruled out murder.

The legal advice also stated that the toxicology carried out on his body found no harmful substance in his body.

Mr Oromoni in a statement sent said the autopsy report and legal advice are different from the oral statement from his son before he died and his schoolmates who said he was tortured and given an unknown substance suspected to be poison which led to his death.

The heartbroken father in the statement revealed that he has instructed his lawyer, Femi Falana, to take all necessary steps to get justice for the late Sylvester.

    Read statement in full below:

PRESS RELEASE BY THE FAMILY OF LATE SYLVESTER OROMONI JNR. ON THE LEGAL ADVICE ISSUED BY THE OFFICE OF THE DIRECTORATE OF PUBLIC PROSECUTION OF LAGOS STATE

My attention has been drawn to the legal advice dated the 4th day of January 2022 on the untimely and brutal death of my beloved son, Sylvester Oromoni Jnr. who died on the 30th day of November 2021.

I am appalled by the said legal advice dated the 4th day of January 2021 being circulated on social media as a copy was not obliged to us despite several requests for same.

Be that as it may, I am not surprised with the content of said legal advice because the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, Mr Hakeem Odumosu who had earlier preempted the report on the 31st day of December 2021 when he said that at the instance of the Governor, Attorney-General and Director of Public Prosecution of Lagos State, the investigation had been concluded and that those arrested in connection with the murder had no case to answer and thereby exonerated.

You could recall that on the 21st day of December 2021, a Magistrate Court in Yaba, Lagos presided over by Mrs Olatunbosun Adeola granted the five suspects bail even though the DPP Advice was yet to be issued. Our findings from both the Commissioner of Police and Deputy Commissioner of Police, SCID, Panti denied being aware of the release of the five suspects. The Commissioner of Police further maintained that they were yet to conclude their investigation, hence the issue of bail would not have arisen.

It may interest you to know that the suspects were ordered to be remanded by the police for 21 days by the same Magistrate Court to have a proper investigation.

It is my belief and a shame on the Lagos State Government to have allowed this kind of gang up against an innocent boy who died as a result of negligence from the management of Dowen College, Lekki, Lagos. There is a clear oral statement from my son before he died and his schoolmates that he was tortured and given an unknown substance suspected to be POISON which led to his death.

The management of Dowen College, Lekki Lagos has always claimed that my late son sustained the injury while playing football. All evidence gathered so far has shown that this is not the true story but a way to cover up their negligence. Based on the outcome of the autopsy report which contradicts the story of Dowen college, it is my firm belief that there is a conspiracy among the officials of Lagos State Government and the Nigeria Police Force, Lagos State Command to cover up the circumstances surrounding the gruesome death of my son, Late Sylvester Oromoni Jnr. It is disheartening that in the DPP advice, the State of Lagos claims that the five suspects have no case to answer. The germane question to ask, in whose custody was my Late Son Sylvester Oromoni Jnr. at all material times when the substance was forcefully administered to him?

Finally, I call on the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Inspector General of Police, Chairman National Human Rights Commission, Civil society, International Human Right Groups and the general public to help me get Justice as the turn of events has clearly shown that Justice is being tampered with.

I have instructed my team of lawyers led by Mr Femi Falana, SAN to take all necessary steps within the purview of the law to get justice for my son Sylvester Oromoni Jnr.

    Mr Sylvester Oromoni

BREAKING: Dowen College gets greenlight to resume as Lagos govt clears school, students, staff of wrongdoing

The Lagos State Government has cleared Dowen College’s five students of wrongdoing in the death of Sylvester Oromoni.

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports the Lagos State Government also absolved staff of the college of wrongdoing in the death of the student.

This is contained in a Legal Advice of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP), Ms. Adetutu Oshinusi, that was addressed to the Deputy Commissioner of Police, State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) and the trial magistrate, Magistrate Olatunbosun Adeola.

The DPP’s legal advice also cleared Dowen College of complicity, giving the college the green light to resume academic activities.

According to the advice, the interim and final autopsy reports issued by the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital and toxicology report of postMortem samples and that of the Central Hospital, Warri were in agreement as to the cause of death namely: Septicaemia, Lobar Pneumonia with Acute Pyelonephritis, Pyomyositis of the right ankle and Acute Bacteria Pneumonia due to severe Sepsis.

The result of the toxicology is also not indicative of any toxic or poisonous substance in the body of the deceased.

The DPP’s legal advice, therefore, concluded that based on these findings, there is no prima facie case of murder, involuntary manslaughter and or malicious administering of poison with intent to harm against the five students, Favour Benjamin aged 16, Micheal Kashamu (15), Edward Begue (16), Ansel Temile (14) and Kenneth Inyang (15).

The state also cleared the minors of belonging to unlawful society due to insufficient facts to establish the offence.

It stated that “from available facts in the duplicate case file, the investigation carried out by the Police did not reveal that any secret society name, tattoo or insignia of any unlawful society was found in the possession of any of the suspects during the investigation carried out by the Police.

“To hold otherwise would amount to sniffing for an offence and a speculative act which is not permitted in law. It is trite law that suspicion no matter how grave cannot be a ground for conviction”.

The state also cleared the school and five employees: Celina Uduak, Valentine Igboekweze, Hammed Ayomo Bariyu, Adesanya Olusesan Olusegun and one Adeyemi of the offence of Negligent Act Causing Harm contrary to section 252 of the Criminal Law Ch. C17, Vol.3, Laws of Lagos State 2015.

The state, therefore, directed that all the suspects should be released if they are still in custody.

Dowen College: Late Sylvester Oromoni’s father reacts to bail granted to suspects

Mr Sylvester Oromoni (Snr), father of the late 12-year-old student of Dowen College Lagos has said that he is surprised that bail was granted to five arrested suspected before completion of the police investigation.

Oromoni while addressing journalists on Wednesday in Delta insisted that the 21-day remand period granted the police to investigate the death of his son is not due until December 28, 2021, and he was surprised to hear that they have been released on bail.

“The police are saying that they are not done with their investigation and granting these boys bail will not help with their investigation and they were even planning that after the 21 days if they are not done with the investigation, they will ask for an extension.

“We are surprised that they were granted bail when the days they gave them have not expired. As a parent we are not comfortable with that, although we cannot question the judge,” he said.

Oromoni added that the autopsy results are ready and will be made public in due time.

He also alleged that the school authorities in connivance with the parents of the accused may be working against his quest in seeking justice for his late.

He called on President Muhammadu Buhari, Inspector General of Police, the Lagos State police commissioner, and the Delta State government to ensure that justice prevails on the matter.

A Chief Magistrates’ court in the Yaba area of Lagos on Tuesday granted bail to five students of Dowen College following a charge of conspiracy and homicide made against them by the police.

The police charged the minors following the alleged murder of their schoolmate, Sylvester Oromoni, aged 12.

On December 9, the five minors were remanded in a juvenile home over the death of their schoolmate who was allegedly attacked in a case of bullying while in school.

Chief Magistrate Olatunbosun Adeola, who heard the bail application granted them bail in the sum of N1m each. The magistrate also ordered the defendants to produce two sureties each in like sum.

Dowen College: Police conclude autopsy, release Sylvester Oromoni’s body for burial

The Lagos State Police Command on Friday said it had released the remains of Sylvester Oromoni, the Dowen College, Lagos student allegedly bullied to death, to his family for burial.

Spokesperson for the command, Adekunle Ajisebutu, said the release followed the conclusion of autopsy on the corpse to ascertain the cause and nature of death.

But the result of the autopsy is yet to be released while police investigation continues.

TheNewsGuru.com, TNG reports that the story of 12-year-old Sylvester went viral earlier this month after a family member went on social media to demand justice. In a series of Tweets, the family member, with handle @Perrisonoromoni said Sylvester was assaulted by some senior students pf Dowen College. He added that Sylvester died after sustaining multiple internal injuries from being tortured and bullied.

Also, in a video released online by the family member, Oromoni jr was seen writhing in pain. His teeth were stained dark red with blood. His legs were swollen, and his belly was bloated.

The Management of Dowen College in a statement claimed that Sylvester was injured while playing football. In another statement, they assured that they will cooperate with authorities to investigate the incident.

The Lagos State Government through the Ministry of Education paid an inquiry visit to the college and subsequently shut it down indefinitely.

Sylvester Oromoni: Invite Kemi Olunloyo for questioning, Falana tells police

The law chamber of Femi Falana, which is representing the Oromoni family over the demise of their son Sylvester Oromoni, has asked the Lagos State Police Command to invite social media personality, Kemi Olunloyo, to explain the allegation she made against Oromoni who was a student of Dowen College in Lekki.

The solicitors to the family of the late student accused Ms Olunloyo of attempting to destroy Oromoni’s name on social media by claiming that the late student wanted to join a cult group in the school and had agreed to be beaten and fed engine oil.

The law firm in a letter dated December 13, 2021, urged the Deputy Commissioner of Police at the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, Lagos, to invite Olunloyo for questioning and investigate her allegation.

“Although the students and staff of the College suspected to have played a role in the brutal murder of Sylvester Oromini have made useful statements to the Police. One Ms Kemi Olunloyo has just introduced another twist to the incident,” the letter signed by Taiwo Olawanle read.

It further read, “According to a false statement credited to her, Ms Olunloyo claimed that ‘Sylvester Oromoni wanted to join the cult, he agreed to be beaten and drank Engine oil as part of the initiation process. Ms Olunloyo recorded her false statement and has been circulating the same on social media in a wicked manner with the sole purpose of diverting attention from the ongoing investigation by the Police.”

The letter added that if Olunloyo cannot validate her “reckless allegation” she should be charged with false information in the Magistrate Court in Lagos.

Ever since she made the contentious statement, Olunloyo has been intensely criticized.

Veteran actress, Ada Ameh said that the self-styled investigative journalist deserves to be beaten.
