    Teni, sister pay emotional tribute to late father’s legacy 30 years after tragic death

    Nigerian singer, Teni, and her sister Teju have taken to social media to pay tribute to their late father, Brigadier-General Simeon Apata, who was assassinated 30 years ago.

    Teni via her Instagram page shared a heartfelt message, honouring her father’s memory as a hero and icon. She said, “On this day, Nigeria stood still! My hero was taken from us. Keep resting gallant soldier, Apata!!!. My father, an icon, philanthropist, one of a kind. Your legacy will live forever.”

    In another post, the singer shared painful memories surrounding their father’s untimely death, revealing how a two-week-old baby was used as bait in the tragic incident.

    Teju, reflected on the lasting impact of his death on their family, noting that it stirred an emotional void.

    Teni’s sister, Niniola, offered comforting words to Teju, advising her to look into the mirror and see their father’s reflection in herself.

    In her tribute, Teju expressed the pain of losing her father, saying, “30 years ago you were assassinated in your home in front of your wife and children. In front of your 2 weeks old baby used as bait.. I never got a chance to take a picture with you.

    “But when I spoke to my older sister @officialniniola yesterday said, look in the mirror, every time you see yourself you see him. That one hit deep. Rest in peace Simeon Olaosebikan Apata.”

    Nigerian singer, Teniola Apata, popularly known as Teni, has demanded for justice for uncles and aunts who bear the burden of caring for children that are not their own.

    Teni, in response to a clip of Nollywood actor and former Big Brother Naija housemate, Tobi Bakre, where he lamented about his son’s unrelenting demands, accusing the child of being “manipulative”.

    In the hilarious but genuine video on Instagram, Tobi Bakre had spoken about how children drains ones energy till when there is none left.

    Reacting, Teni via her instagram addressed parents who shield themselves from responsibilities but put the burden on relatives.

    She began, “All these people wey don born, wey dey go dey complain everyday.

    “I no follow you enjoy all the things wey you enjoy use born that pikin.

    “I was not there. In fact, I didn’t even know, I had no clue. Una born pikin finish una come leave the pikin for us aunty and uncle make we dey suffer.

    “Were we there? It was all you. Please please handle your responsibility.”

    She urged parents to take responsibility for their actions and stop coming online to rant about the challenges of parenthood.

    The post which tagged Tobi Bakre was captioned, “On behalf of uncles and aunties association!!!! Please we were not there.”

    Teni weeps amid heavy downpour in Lagos

    Popular Nigerian singer, Teniola Apata, widely known as Teni has expressed her feeling of loneliness during the heavy downpour on Wednesday.

    The singer via her Instagram account advised her fans not to fall in love while Lagos was still experiencing heavy downpour which started at midnight.

    Teni, in a tearful video, began by asking, “Shey you dey see tears for my eyes? For this life no fall in love o,” highlighting her emotional turmoil.

    She explained that her tears stemmed from her unsuccessful attempts to reach her significant other.

    “I don dey call my baby, I dey call my baby since when rain dey fall. Rain dey fall for here like this, only me dey this bed,” Teni lamented,

    She further expressed, “I don cry cry cry I don cry. Only me, only me dey my bed for where big big heavy rain dey fall.”

    She captioned the post “RAIN AND LOVE.”

    Famous Nigerian artiste, Teniola Apata popularly known as Teni  has openly declared interest in her colleague, Mayorkun.

    Teni disclosed her interest following Mayorkun’s appearance at Davido’s wedding on Tuesday in Lagos.

    A viral photo of Mayorkun posing with Davido and Chioma was shared on Instagram. and it generated many reactions.

    Reacting to the picture, Teni took to the comment session to reveal her interest.

    She wrote; “Na me go still marry Mayor.”

    Recall that Mayorkun was signed on to Davido’s DMW for years  before departing the record label.

    The Iyami Eleko crooner looked elegant and classy in his attire at Davido and Chioma’s wedding.

    Teni took to her Instagram account, to advice
    beggars, urging them to avoid incessant begging.

    According to her,

    “Beggars Association of Nigeria, who be una president? I need to talk to your president because Una no get conscience again, Una no fear God.

    “You go beg pesin for money 3 days ago, come back again two days later to ask again. Am I your mother or father? Did they write your name on my head? Una no dey fear God? Fear God o, beggars association, it’s not good.”

    AFCON: Singer Teni weeps  after Supper Eagles loss to Cote D’Ivoire

    Nigerian singer Teni broke down in tears on Sunday, February 11, after the Super Eagles of Nigeria were beaten 2-1 by host nation of the 2023 AFCON, Cote D’Ivoire.

    In a viral video on X, the musician expressed disappointment and embarrassment amid uncontrollable tears.

    Teni had hoped that the Nigerian team would win their fourth AFCON trophy after they took the lead by a goal in the first half of the game.

    However, her expectations were not met leading to the sheer disappointment.

    “Ivory Coast you think you can embarrass me. Somebody please I need oxygen…you want to embarrass me,” she said while crying.

    The African Cup of Nations tournament ended on Sunday, February 11 after Ivory Coast defeated Nigeria by two goals to one  to win the trophy.

    Popular singer, Teni reacts to Davido, Burna Boy Grammy Snub

    Nigerian musician and entertainer Teniola Apata, popularly known as Teni, has reacted bitterly to the Grammy snub of artistes, Davido, Burna Boy and Asake as they all lost in their respective categories.

    She reacted via a video on her Instagram a few hours after the Grammy snub, stating that there is a problem, that after they had celebrated all night before during the pre Grammy’s party and they were hoping to celebrate after the win.

    Teni then stated that she hoped that Nigeria would beat South Africa in their next AFCON match which would be coming up on the 7th of February 2024, as a pay back for the South African artiste Tyla winning the Grammy in Davido’s category.

    She then mentioned how if her fellow Nigerian artistes had won, she would have gone on a celebration spree all night long.

    Popular Nigerian female singer, Teniola Apata, simply known as Teni, has revealed that she once belived that her elder sister and singer, Niniola, was jealous of her talent because of her harsh criticism of her voice.

    Teni while granting interview in an episode of the Tea With Tay podcast, recalled rehearsing with her sisters during her childhood.

    She said their eldest sister, Doyin told her that she had a melodic voice, but Niniola insisted that her voice was not “sweet.”

    She said the latter’s harsh criticism made her think she was jealous of her.

    Teni said, “My elder sister, the one that’s older than Nini [Niniola], Doyin, maybe she was deceiving because she didn’t want to hurt me; she used to tell me I have a melodic voice whenever I sing during my childhood. Nini, on the other hand, would tell me my voice isn’t sweet. So, I thought she was jealous of me.

    “She [Niniola] called me aside and told me not to let Doyin deceive me. She now said, ‘You sing from your stomach.’ So, everytime Nini sings, I would watch her sing. So, I also started singing from my stomach.

    “There was a time my school organised an event, I sang and the whole school stood up and was clapping for me. I said, ‘I’ve arrived.’ I went back home to tell Nini that I sang in school and everybody was clapping and she said I should sing what I sang. I sang it and Nini too clapped for me. I said, ‘Okay, we are up to something.’”

    Singer Teniola Apata, aka Teni Makaniki, has said the assassination of her father, the late Brig. Gen. Simeon Apata (retd.) in her presence greatly affected her.

    Speaking in an interview with a media personality , Teni revealed that she was two years old when gunmen stormed their Lagos home and murdered her father in the presence of the family.

    The ‘Uyo Meyo’ crooner added that this affected her growing up as she has since developed trust issues.

    In the interview, shared Sunday by the host Taymesan on Instagram, Teni said, “Growing up with my father passing at such a young age, the trauma of losing my father at a young age affected me.

    “You know, him being assassinated in the presence of all of us and all that stuff. I was 2 at the time.

    “Him passing away robbed me of a father figure. It sort of made me have trust issues growing up. Because they [gunmen] came into our house purposely to kill him.”

    The late Brig. Gen. Simeon Apata (retd.), was assassinated on January 8, 1995.

    Nigerian  female music artiste Teniola Apata simply known as Teni  has stated reasons behind her massive weight loss.

    Teni now looks extremely trimmed down as against her looks when she surfaced on the music scene

    The plus-size singer revealed that she lost 75 pounds without under going any form of surgery.

    In a video that surfaced online, the case crooner said she feared for her health and wouldn’t want to accumulate so much fat.

    Teni said she didn’t want to die.

    “I realised you only have one life. Me, I don’t want to die. If you need inspiration, look at me.

    “Impossible is nothing!! Happy new year 23.”
