    INSECURITY! Terrorists storm Katsina govt hospital, shoot popular doctor, abduct 5

    Bandits, on Tuesday night attacked a General Hospital in Kankara town, Kankara local government area of Katsina State.

    It was reported that the terrorists shot a medical doctor on duty during the attack, Dr. Murtala Sale Dandashire and kidnapped no fewer than five people at the hospital.

    This was stated by Bakatsine, while sharing the picture of the attacked doctor on his popular X page.

    Bakatsine wrote: “Yesterday night, bandits stormed Kankara General Hospital in Ƙankara LGA of Katsina State, they shot Dr. Murtala Sale Dandashire and abducted five people in the hospital.

    “There is a need to improve security in the hospitals across Katsina State. Within the past three months, bandits have reportedly entered three hospitals: Kurfi General Hospital, Mai Tsani Hospital in Dutsin-ma LGA and Kankara General Hospital.

    “Dr. Murtala Saleh Dandashire, an indigene Kankara LGA, is the best graduating Medical student of the year 2019, from the Medical School of the prestigious ABU Zaria,” he added.

    The media has not independently verified whether Dr. Murtala Saleh Dandashire survived the terrorists attack in which he was shot.

    The State Police Command Spokesman, Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu could not be reached for comments.

    He did not pick up repeated calls made to him by the media on Wednesday morning.

    Troops of the one brigade of Operation Fansan Yanma have nabbed 25-year-old Shamsiyya Ahadu, a suspected logistics supplier for terrorist activities in Zamfara State.

    The suspect was arrested on Saturday, December 28 after authorities received intelligence about her movement.

    She was with her accomplice, Ahmed Husaini, at a checkpoint along the road from Kware to Badarawa in the Shinkafi LGA which resulted in the arrest of the suspect.

    This was disclosed in a statement on Saturday by Lieutenant Colonel Abubakar Abdullahi, the Coordinator Joint Media Coordinating Centre, Operation Fansan Yamma.

    He said the suspect “was found in possession of 764 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition and 6 magazines meant to be delivered to terrorist kingpin Bello Turji’s camp.”

    The arrest followed an intelligence report regarding the movement of the terrorists logistics along the road from Kware to Badarawa in the Shinkafi Local Government Area of Zamfara State,” the statement read.

    “In response to the development, troops of Operation Fansan Yamma prompty established a roadblock leading to the apprehension of the suspects. Both suspects are currently undergoing investigation by appropriate authorities.”

    Abdullahi said the military remains dedicated to dismantling all terrorist networks as well as prevent illegal movement of arms and ammunition within its theatre of operation.

    He also called on the members of the public to keep providing credible information that would lead to the arrest of wanted terrorists and their collaborators.

    “Additionally, the Theatre wishes to appreciate the sustained local support it is enjoying from the people of the Zone towards the fulfilment of Operation Fansan Yamma mandate,” he said.

    Terrorists reportedly bomb Nigerian army base in Borno

    Suspected Boko Haram terrorists have reportedly bombed a Nigerian military base in Wajiroko, located in the Damboa Local Government Area of Borno State.
    The attack occurred on Christmas Eve December 24 2024, when multiple armed drones, carrying locally fabricated grenades, targeted the Forward Operating Base.
    The strike injured no fewer than six soldiers, who were quickly given first aid at the scene and are awaiting further medical treatment.
    The assault began with gunfire from the terrorists, who launched a brief attack that was repelled by the soldiers.
    However, shortly afterward, drones carrying explosives struck the base again.
    According to military sources, up to four different armed drones were observed during the attack.
    A report also revealed that a military gun truck was damaged during the strike.
    Boko Haram has been a persistent threat in Northeastern Nigeria for nearly two decades, causing loss of life and displacing millions.
    The Nigerian military has repeatedly claimed success in combating the insurgents, though the group remains a formidable force, continuing to carry out attacks across the region.

    Bashar al-Assad said Monday that Syria is in the hands of terrorism, the former president’s first statement since his ouster.

    Assad his departure from Syria was not planned and that Moscow requested his evacuation from a military base that was under attack.

    “My departure from Syria was neither planned nor did it occur during the final hours of the battles,” said a statement on the ousted presidency’s Telegram channel, adding “Moscow requested… an immediate evacuation to Russia on the evening of Sunday December 8” after he moved to Latakia early that day.

    “When the state falls into the hands of terrorism and the ability to make a meaningful contribution is lost, any position becomes void of purpose,” the statement added.

    The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Gen Christopher Musa, has said that Nigeria did not need the services of mercenaries to counter the activities of terrorists and bandits in the country.

    Speaking on Friday, in an interview monitored on a news channel, Musa expressed confidence in the ability of the Nigerian Armed Forces to win the war in the fight against terrorists and criminal groups in the country, adding that the gains made so far laid credence to the fact that the country’s security outfits are making steady progress.

    He stressed that although the military has commenced assembling its Armoured Personnel Carriers (APC), Musa charged the federal government to support the military with modern and sophisticated hardware to the AFN to counter emerging security threats confronting the nation

    He said, “We don’t need mercenary fighters, we don’t need any foreign boots on our soil and that was why it was not even being thought out. We don’t have a foreign military base in Nigeria. We have the capacity to wage the war, we are training together.

    “All we need is to get the equipment we are fighting with. The ongoing war has also helped us build the capacity to produce our own armaments. “I just came in from Jaji this morning, we are now producing and assembling our armoured personnel carrier (APC), before we start full production.

    Furthermore, he pointed out that Nigeria was stabilising the West Africa sub-region and the Sahel to fight terrorism in the region as it had always done.

    “We believe that if we can get these things right, we will be able to do the right thing. We don’t need external help. Remember that we stabilised Liberia, Sierra Leone, and other West African nations, so we can still do the same thing here”.
    He maintained that the Armed Forces has become a beacon of hope for Nigerians, and assured that the military would continue to support democracy in Nigeria because no military personnel in Nigeria was interested in a coup.

    He added that the country is working hard to return Guinea, Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger to democratic governance.

    “We are better in a democratic setting, so we want to sustain it,” he said.

    The Defence Headquarters has confirmed the emergence of a new terrorists’ group known as ‘Lukarawas’ exacerbating insecurity in the North Western part of Nigeria.

    The Director of Defence Media Operations, Maj.-Gen. Edward Buba, made this known while briefing newsmen on the operations of the military on Thursday in Abuja.

    Buba said that the new terror group emerged from the Republic of Niger after the coup that led to the breakdown of military cooperation between Nigeria and Niger.

    He said that the terrorists began incursion into northern parts of Sokoto and Kebbi States from the Niger Republic and Mali axis, particularly after the coup in Niger Republic.

    According to him, prior to the coup, there were joint border operations with Nigerien security forces which kept the terrorist at bay.

    “The terrorists took advantage of the gaps in cooperation between both countries and exploited difficult terrains to make incursions in remote areas in some North Western states to spread their ideology,” he said.

    Buba said that the group was accommodated by the locals who initially thought that the group meant well for them, adding that they failed to report the movement to the military and security agencies.

    He gave assurance that toops had sustained Imtelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) to degrade the terrorists.

    He added that the terror group had continued to take advantage of the vast under-governed areas to hide and evade troops as well as harass the locals. According to him, troops are locating them and eliminating the threat.

    Terrorist leaders in North Central begging to surrender – DHQ

    The Defence Headquarters (DHQ), says some terrorists’ leaders operating in the North Central zone have indicated interest to surrender and lay down their arms.

    The Director of Defence Media Operations, Maj.-Gen. Edward Buba, made this known while briefing newsmen on the operations of the military on Thursday in Abuja.

    Buba said the military had opened its surrendering corridors to those that had expressed interest to surrender. According to him, the terrorists knew that they cannot match the military strength.

    “The options open to them is to surrender or be killed on the battlefield. Accordingly, some terrorist leaders, commanders and combatants have indicated surrender. We are opening a surrendering corridor for that purpose,” he said.

    The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) says the air component of Operation Hadin Kai, has said many Boko Haram terrorists were wasted at two locations in Bula Marwa in Borno.

    This is contained in a statement by the Director, Public Relations and Information, NAF, Air Commodore Olusola Akinboyewa, issued on Monday in Abuja.

    Akinboyewa said the NAF, having identified Bula Marwa as a high-level meeting site for Boko Haram’s notorious figures, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions further confirmed heightened terrorist activity.

    He said the IRS revealed an influx of motorcycles and gatherings of combatants across the site.

    He said NAF fighter jets were dispatched to the location for an air interdiction mission.

    “On arrival, ISR footage captured suspected terrorists assembling at a rendezvous point on 12 motorcycles.

    “The motorcycles were then traced to a primary meeting location where additional terrorists had been waiting.

    “Accordingly, the first airstrike was executed, effectively engaging the target area.

    “Moments later, ISR aircraft loitering in the vicinity observed several terrorists returning to assess the damage and evacuate their wounded combatants.

    “In response, NAF air assets conducted follow-up strikes, neutralising additional terrorists,” he said.

    Akinboyewa said additional ISR was conducted in the area the same day, identifying another group of terrorists gathering under a large tree at a second meeting site.

    Troops kill 8 notorious terrorists, rescue 16 victims

    Nigerian troops have killed  eight notorious terrorist fighters and rescued 16 kidnapped hostages in sweeping operations against terrorists and insurgents in different parts of the country.

    The Nigerian Army, in a post on its official X-Handle on Monday, said the troops recovered a haul of firearms during the operations.

    The post said that troops had on Sept. 22, thwarted an attempt by terrorists to raid some villages in Borno for supplies and logistics and eliminated three assailants.

    According to the army, troops recovered one light machine gun, one  AK-47 rifle, two hand grenades, five AK-47 rifle magazines, 200 linked Rounds of light Machine Gun and other materials, including money and phones.

    The army also revealed that in another clash, while  acting on credible information, troops cornered terrorists escorting abducted victims through Uvaha village in Gwoza Local Government Area.

    “In spite of heavy rain fall, the troops went after the  terrorists and eliminated one of them, forcing the others to flee, leaving behind 16 hostages.

    “Among the freed victims were 10 men and 6 women. A follow-up search of the area uncovered two grenades, a bag of fish and sundry items.

    “Meanwhile, in Yobe, troops set up a well-planned ambush while acting  on intelligence about a group of terrorists receiving supplies from their collaborators.

    “This led to the neutralization of 4 terrorists in Madza and Azare villages of Gujba Local Government Area.

    “The soldiers captured two AK-47 rifles and two empty Ak-47 rifle magazines, as well as other sundry items,” it said.

    The post revealed that troops deployed in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT)  also troops in synergy with other security agencies activated a stop and search operation on suspected vehicles and apprehended suspects at Kugbo, Abuja.

    According to the post, a search conducted on the suspect led to the recovery of 178 rounds of 7.62 mm (Special) ammunition concealed in a bag of flour.

    “Also recovered from the suspect is a mobile phone and the sum of ₦29,000.

    “All these efforts underscore the Nigerian Army’s unflinching dedication to wiping out terrorism, insurgency, and sundry crimes.

    “The public is encouraged to keep sharing tips and useful information with security forces for prompt action,” he said

    NAF airstrikes kill over 28 terrorists in Niger

    The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) says the Air Component of Operation Whirl Punch on Wednesday, eliminated no fewer than 28 terrorists in strikes at Bassa, Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger.

    This is contained in a statement by the Deputy Director, Public Relations and Information, NAF, Capt. Kabiru Ali, on Thursday in Abuja.

    Ali said the operation was targeted at the criminal elements terrorising communities in the Local Government Area.

    He said the successful air interdiction mission was conducted on Sept. 11, upon receipt of a request for air support from friendly forces in the area.

    According to him, the NAF air assets observed over 100 terrorists engaging friendly forces in a fierce firefight.

    “After confirming the positions of friendly troops, the NAF conducted precision airstrikes on the terrorists’ positions.

    “The strikes were devastating, neutralizing dozens of terrorists in successive passes.

    “As of the time of reporting, 28 bodies had been recovered from the target area, with several more terrorists, weapons, and burnt motorcycles still being cleared,” he said.

    Ali said the successful operation underscored the NAF’s commitment to protecting the nation and supporting sister services and other security agencies in combating banditry, terrorism, insurgency and all other forms of criminality.

    “Nigerians can be assured that NAF will continue to conduct air operations, both independently and in collaboration with surface forces.

    “This is to eliminate all threats to the peace, prosperity and security of our great nation,” he said.

    Troops eliminate 152 terrorists, apprehend 109 in 1 week

    The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) on Friday, said  that troops have eliminated 152 terrorists, and apprehended 109 others, with 91 rescued kidnapped hostages in the last one week across the country.

    The Director of Defence Media Operations, Maj.-Gen. Edward Buba, made this known in an update on the operations of the armed forces in Abuja.

    Buba said the troops had during the week, carried out surgical operations against two prominent terrorist commanders known as Sadiku and Alhaji Yusuf and decimated their strongholds.

    According to him, Sadiku’s enclave is located at Tsora Hill in Safana Local Government Area of Katsina State, while Alhaji Yusuf’s enclave is located at Yadi Forest in Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

    He said that troops also apprehended two female terrorist collaborators responsible for negotiations with relatives of victims for ransom.

    Buba said the troops also recovered 183 weapons, 4,443 ammunitions comprising 95 AK47 rifles, 35 locally fabricated guns, 76 dane guns, One GPMG and two PKT guns.

    Others, according to him, are 4,131 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo, 165 rounds of 7.62mm NATO, 115 rounds of 7.62 x 54mm ammo, 28 cartridges, 53 assorted arms and 197 assorted ammunitions.

    “On the whole, the gallant men and women of the armed forces continued to take pride in putting themselves in harms way to ensure the safety and security of citizens.

    “Citizens on the other hand, must constantly see the need to show support for troops to win the war,”he said.

    In the North East, Buba said the troops of Operation Hadin Kai neutralised 63 terrorists, apprehended 38 suspects and rescued 35 kidnappers hostages, as well as recovery of large cache of arms and ammunition.

    He said that a total of 196 terrorists comprising 19 adult males 70 adult females and 107 children, surrendered to troops between Aug. 28 and Sept. 4, within the theatre of operations.

    Buba added that the air component conducted a successful air interdiction on Aug. 31 killing an ISWAP spiritual leader identified as Goni Sanda and several other terrorists in Borno.

    In the North Central, the defence spokesman said the troops of Operations Safe Haven and Whirl Stroke neutralised three violent extremists, apprehended 40 and rescued 28 kidnapped hostages within the week.

    In the North West, he said the troops of Operation Hadarin Daji neutralised 105 terrorists, apprehended 21 terrorists and rescued 36 kidnapped hostages as well as recovery of cache of arms during the week.

    Under Operation Whirl Punch, Buba said neutralised 16 terrorists, apprehended nine suspects and rescued two kidnapped hostages.

    In the Niger Delta, Buba said the troops of Operation Delta Safe destroyed 58 illegal refining sites, 36 dugout pits, 40 boats, 22 drums and 27 storage tanks.

    According to him,  32 cooking ovens, six speedboats, three vehicles, three motorcycles, one pumping machine and one generator were also destroyed.

    He said that the troops recovered 725,920 litres of stolen crude oil and 475,250 litres of illegally refined AGO as well as apprehended 36 suspected oil thieves and recovered vehicles.

    According to him, the air component conducted air interdiction mission to Bugama, Idama, Cawtorne Channel and Krakrama, destroyingor than 17 illegal refining sites and several canoes.

    In the South East, Buba said the troops of Operation UDO KA apprehended two violent extremists and rescued two kidnapped hostages.

    According to him, all recovered items, arrested suspects and rescued hostages were handed over to the relevant authority for further action.
