    Eclectic Nigerian singer and music producer, Terry G has opened up on why he dumped secular music for gospel

    Terry who started out as an instrumentalist in church noted that he was forced to go into secular music because he wasn’t helped as an instrumentalist playing in churches.

    The ‘Gingah your swagga’ crooner made this known during a recent Instagram live interview with rapper, Bouqui.

    “I was a gospel musician. I only backslid because I wanted more for the family. I am the first born in my family. There is no church I haven’t played for, but how many of them helped me.They would keep encouraging and encouraging. I had to go fend for myself”.

    Terry also opened up on the role Faze played in his career.

    “I wanted to meet 2face but I met Faze and he taught me a lot. He is so humble. That is why the industry is the way it is today. Some people are talented but they don’t have leadership. I learnt from the right source.I might portray a different image, but I love to celebrate people”.

    Nigerian singer, Gabriel Oche Amanyi, popularly known as Terry G, has reacted to Ray Hushpuppi’s arrest.

    The crooner who is widely known for his unconventional dress-sense urged people to pray for the Instagram big boy, as no one is clean or perfect.

     

    “None of us is clean nor perfect, all we pray is for God to bo our asiri… pray for him” he wrote.

    TheNewsGuru recalls that the flamboyant Nigerian big boy, Hushpuppi and some of his associates were arrested by Interpol two days ago in Dubai.

    In a recent interview, Terry G noted that present day Nigerian artistes are egocentric.

    “Although most of them are egocentric, I must praise them for putting in extra work. Now, we are recognized globally. There are just little lapses but there’s always room for improvement.”

    Singer and music producer, Terry G has said the bad image speculated about his personality made him miss out on a lot of endorsement deals.
    The singer expressed his frustrations during an Instagram live chat with Folarin of H2G Filmworks.
    “Now una dull me, the time wen I dey hot, them they talk say Terry G this Terry G that one did I kill anybody? No! But I looked like the baddest guy in Nigeria. Now endorsement time, nobody endorse me, nobody do anything the time when Terry G dey hot,” he said.
    “Okay, who I wan collect endorsement deal from now? Nobody. So I nor dey like to reason that period because even AY.com where is he? It affected both us but for me I’m a musician”.

  • Terry G, K-Solo to face off in ‘Sound Clash’

    At 10 pm on Wednesday, April 8, 2020, Nigerian producers, Terry G and K-Sol will face off in ‘Sound Clash’ on Instagram Live.

    What is now called ‘Sound Clash’ started off as ‘Battle of The Hits,’ which sees Nigerian producers face off on Instagram Live to play some of their biggest hits.

    It started off with Sarz vs. Shizzi. Since then, we have seen Pheelz vs. Masterkraft, Rexxie vs. Kel P and Leriq vs. Chopstix.

    Terry G is the Nigerian producer known for producing hits for himself, Timaya, Durella, 2shotz and more while K-Solo is known to have produced for the Agege, Lagos contingent of his time. In a 2019 article, Pulse Nigeria named as architects of the first wave of shepeteri sounds.

    Versatile singer and music producer,Terry G has issued a public apology to his baby mama, Mimi Omoregbe. Many of his fans were shocked when the ‘Gingah’ singer took to his Instagram page to apologize to her

    Terry G said words could not express the regrets he has for treating Mimi wrongly.

    “Sometimes, there are simply no words that can adequately express the depth of a person’s feelings that are plagued by regrets, guilt and sadness for a wrong done,” he said.

    “I want to tell u am sorry a thousand times, but that can’t undo what has been done or ease the pain in your heart. I totally deserve all the anger and resentment from you.”

    Sharing his thoughts on his future with her, Terry G said “Pls @cocomims, I know I don’t have the right to ask anything from you when I have offended u, but if u can find it in your heart to forgive me and give me another opportunity to prove to u how much I love u. And a chance to make your future a happier one with more laughters and few tears.”

  • Eldee fires Olu Maintain says:”You are Shameless for performing my song”

    Veteran Nigerian rapper, Eldee has angrily called out his colleague, Olu Maintain accusing him of going out to perform his songs ‘like he created them’.

    To buttress his point, Eldee shared a recent video of Olu Maintain performing their 2008 collaboration ‘Big Boy’ featuring Banky W and Olu Maintain

     

    Though Eldee has deleted the post on Instagram, but it has been generating a myriad of reactions on social media.

    Eldee wrote:”This shameless nigga goes out on stages performing my songs like he created it. I still remember how he tried to steal the record right after I put him on it, forcing me to put it out prematurely. Nigga ran off with the unmastered draft and went to print CDs with himself as the lead artist, even his verse was written by me. Lesson to all young artists, don’t ever do pity features”.

    Reacting to Eldee’s outburst, Ice Prince noted that as long as Olu Maintain was featured in the song, he has a right to perform it.

    TheNewsGuru recalls that the same issue played between AY.com and Terry G in 2009 when AY.com accused Terry G of performing his song ‘Pass me your love’ without his consent.

    AY.com had featured Terry G on the song which he also produced .

    In a chat with Punch, AY.com said he has since resolved his rift with Terry G.

    ““Me and Terry G is an old issue and I don’t really like to talk about it anymore. We are cool with each other now. We are colleagues and as regards working with him again, nobody can predict the future.”

    Years back, popular singer, Terry G had the reputation of being a controversial artiste. The singer was slammed when he wanted to be known as Terry Gzuz.

    However, the singer who is now more mature noted that controversies didn’t make him enjoy stardom.

    “I did not receive any death threat for initially changing my stage name to Terry Gzuz. Sometimes people call me Terry Gzuz when they chat with me online. When they spell Gzuz as Jesus, I try to correct them immediately.

    “Now that I have rebranded, when the same people call me Gzuz I tell them that I have changed it to Genius. Nobody has kicked against this yet. I think they like it. They even praise me for it. Like I said earlier, I have not been issued any death threat for changing my stage name. I just want to focus on being positive,” the artiste said in an interview.

     

    “The new kids on the block must always be more conspicuous than those of us who have been in this business for a long time. It does not mean that we are no longer relevant. Nevertheless, I have faced a lot of controversy in the course of my career, especially in the beginning. I did not enjoy stardom or fame because of that. I spent most of the time wading through problems and controversies. I had to withdraw into my shell at a point so as to get peace of mind. Right now, I have been able to stay away from a lot of the madness and misunderstanding in the industry, even though I was the one that started it,” he said.

    Dancehall singer, Terry G has been lauded by Nigerians for sending a certain young boy, Tobi a photo-bomber who became popular after his photo-bombing picture surfaced online, to school.

    Speaking in a chat with Punch, the singer revealed that Tobi isn’t the first kid he has offered scholarship.

    “This is not the first child that I have offered a scholarship. I have done it for several kids but I would not want to give figures. I do it because it is my passion; something I love to do.

    I believe that it is not only our children or kids from privileged backgrounds that have something to offer to the society. The kids on the street too, if given the chance, can make the country a better place. They face a lot of challenges in their lives and it only makes them stronger; they tend to be the leaders of tomorrow because they always strive hard to break the yoke of poverty. I like to help these street kids because I was like them,” he said.

    Gingah master, Terry G has once again shown that celebrities can be benevolent. The dancehall singer has given lifeline to Oluwatobiloba Falana, a viral photobomber.

    Recall that the kid made news in December 2017 when he accidentally posed during a photoshoot with an extraordinary infectious smile and hilarious stance.

    Michael Tayo, the photographer who shared the story of Tobi, has shared the news of his advancement via Instagram.

    He said Terry G would champion his education up until the primary level.

    Nigerian multi-talented singer and music producer, Terry G used to be synonymous with controversies. The Akpako crooner has however debunked the claims, insisting that whatever made him controversial, were only mistakes he made in the past.

    According to him:” I do not like controversies. I was only a victim of controversies. All that I have done in the past that made me controversial were mistakes anyone could commit. I am still paying the price for my past. I did certain things I can never do again. I was a young boy, who was just having fun and enjoying music. My past still haunts me as I speak to you, as I am being judged for those actions. I have done things I am not proud of. I am now a scapegoat all because I represented the streets and I was not afraid to show it. I sacrificed myself for the new generation of artistes. All I was being criticized for are those things artistes do freely now and no one talks about them.”
