  • Femi Otedola’s daughter weeps after Master’s thesis

    Disc Jockey daughter of billionaire Femi Otedola, Florence Otedola, popularly known as Dj Cuppy has shared a photo of herself in tears after completing her Master’s degree thesis.

    The billionaire’s daughter, who had been admitted into Oxford University for her Master’s degree program, had frequently complained about how mentally and physically draining her thesis was.

    On Friday, DJ Cuppy wrote: “Tears of joy. The wait is finally over!!! My THESIS for @UniofOxford is finally 100% done and submitted!!! Not sure why weeping is my reaction right now. I’m so drained that it actually feels so difficult to celebrate.

    “Over the last few weeks, I’ve pushed myself so much, both mentally and physically, to actually finish this degree. Truthfully, this has been one of the most challenging experiences of my life… This paper alone has made me want to drop out of Oxford University twice

    “I’ve done something only a few can do, and I don’t need to ask for anyone’s respect or flowers – I’ve earned them! People keep asking where the party is?! LOL I need to rest and rebuild… I am fatigued and partying is the last thing on my mind. Greatful to the Most High”.

  • Why Stephen Hawking’s 1966 Doctoral Thesis crashed Cambridge University Website

    Stephen Hawking’s 1966 “Properties of expanding universes” Doctoral Thesis was made freely available for the first time on Cambridge University Website.

    According to BBC, the thesis was made available on the publications section of university’s website at 12.01am, and more than 60,000 persons have so far accessed Hawking’s work as a 24-year-old postgraduate.

    Demand for the acclaimed British physicist and cosmologist PhD thesis intermittently crashed part of Cambridge University’s website as physics enthusiasts flocked to read his work, according to reports on Tuesday.

    Speaking on the development, Hawking said by making the thesis available, he hoped to “inspire people”.

    “Anyone, anywhere in the world should have free, unhindered access to not just my research, but to the research of every great and enquiring mind across the spectrum of human understanding.

    “It’s wonderful to hear how many people have already shown an interest in downloading my thesis – hopefully they won’t be disappointed now that they finally have access to it,” the university quoted Hawking as saying.

    The 75-year-old’s doctoral thesis is the most requested item in Cambridge University’s library.

    Since May 2016, 199 requests were made for the PhD, most of which are believed to be from the general public rather than academics. The next most requested publication was asked for just 13 times, reports the BBC.

    Previously, to read Hawking’s PhD in full, people had to pay 65 pounds to the university library to scan a copy or physically go to the library to read it.

    Because of the popularity of the 134-page work the website has, at times, struggled to cope with the volume of users on Monday.

    But thousands have still been able to read the document by the man who would go on to write “A Brief History of Time”, one of the most influential scientific works ever.

    The abstract of his PhD begins: “Some implications and consequences of the expansion of the universe are examined”.
