    Euro 2024: Super Computer predicts overwhelming favourite to win trophy

    Super Computer has predicted the likely winner of this year’s Euro 2024.

    The Euro 2024 tournament is scheduled to begin on June 14 with hosts Germany facing Scotland at Munich’s Allianz Arena.

    As usual Opta SuperComputer has clearly opted for the Three Lions of England as the clear favourite among all 24 competing teams to win the tournament on July 14, this year.

    England  emerged likely winner and overwhelming favourite  with a nearly 19.9 per cent chance of becoming the 17th winners of the competition.

    The odds of England reaching the quarter-finals stand at 70 per cent, the semi-finals at 48.2 per cent, and the final at 31.1 per cent.

    France followed closely behind with a 19.1 per cent chance of winning and a 30.4 per cent likelihood of reaching the final.

    Hosts Germany, despite the advantage of playing on home soil, have a 12.4 per cent chance of clinching the trophy.

    Defending champions Italy, meanwhile, face tougher odds with only an 11.4 per cent chance of making the final and a mere 5 per cent chance of retaining their title.

    Euro 2024: Mourinho names three countries likely to win trophy

    Jose Mourinho the former Chelsea and Manchester United manager, Jose has tipped England, Portugal and France as his three favourites to win Euro 2024.

    It would be recalled that the three Lions lost the final of the 2020 edition to Italy and are in Group C alongside Slovenia, Denmark and Serbia.

    France lost to Argentina in the 2022 World Cup final in Qatar and are in Group D with Poland, Netherlands and Austria.

    Portugal won all their 10 fixtures in qualifying and have been drawn in Group F alongside Turkey, Georgia and the Czech Republic.

    Giving his prediction for Euro 2024, Mourinho said in Vila do Conde on Wednesday: “For me, it’s one of the three strongest teams – Portugal, France and England.

    “Surprises can happen, yes. But looking at the quality and quantity of players, I think Portugal has to go there to win.”

    England manager,Southgate praises team’s effort despite losing to Brazil

    Gareth Southgate the manager of Three Lions of England  has praised his team effort despite losing to  Brazil in an international friendly on Saturday night,

    Southgate said Ezri Konsa was excellent, while Anthony Gordon and Ollie Watkins did a good job against Brazil.

    A second half goal from Endrick gave Brazil the victory against the Three Lions at Wembley.

    Southgate said this while Speaking at his post-match interview after the game,

    “I thought Anthony was very good. Both sides of his game looked very accomplished.

    “Ezri, to come in at the moment he did and to deal with a player of that quality (Vinicius), I thought he was also excellent, showed real composure and he should be really happy with his debut. We were really pleased with him.”

    He added, “I thought Ollie did a good job, didn’t get that clear chance on goal that you might want as a forward but a lot of his work was very, very good.”

    England eyes Pep Guardiola for Three Lions coaching job

    The Football Association (FA) in England is eyeing Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola for the Three Lions managerial position.

    Recall that Guardiola’s current contract ends in 2025 and the Spaniard could be leaving his role as the coach of Manchester City.

    According to the Daily Mail, Southgate looks likely to step down after Euro 2024.

    Although his contract expires in 2024, the prospect of the 53-year-old guiding the Three Lions to the 2026 World Cup has not been ruled out.

    However, Guardiola remains a serious option for the FA.

    The only stumbling block would be his contract at City, which runs until 2025.

    Eddie Howe, Mauricio Pochettino and Graham Potter had all previously been considered options to take on the role.

    Howe presently tinkers Newcastle United while, Pochettino is the head coach of Chelsea FC.

    Qatar 2022: England set to battle Senegal for Quarter-Final ticket

    After defeating Wales and topping group B at the ongoing Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup, the Three Lions of England set up a round of 16 clash with African Champions Senegal.

    Earlier the West African country booked their place in the second round of the competition following their 2-1 win over South American side Ecuador.

    Ismaila Sarr’s penalty gave Senegal the lead, before Moises Caicedo levelled for the South Americans late in the match, Captain Kalidou Koulibaly’s volley then sealed the win.

    Meanwhile, goals from Manchester players,  Marcus Rashford and Phil Foden settled England’s qualification ticket.

    Upon introduction in the second half, Rashford scored two goals while Foden scored one in the encounter.

    However, England have never lost to an African team in the World Cup, winning 14 times and drawing six games.

    Recall that the Super Eagles of Nigeria drew with the Three Lions 0-0 at the 2022 World Cup held in Japan and South Korea.

    The other quarter-final fixture will see the Netherlands slug it out with United States of America.
