    ‎NiMet forecasts 3-day thunderstorms, rain from Today

    The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) forecasts rainy and thundery conditions across Nigeria from Monday to Wednesday.

    Thunderstorms with moderate rainfall are expected over parts of the northern states, including Jigawa, Zamfara, Kano, Kaduna, Bauchi, Yobe, and Katsina, starting Monday morning, with afternoon rains extending to Kebbi, Adamawa, and Taraba.

    “Flash floods are possible in Bauchi, Jigawa, Katsina, Kaduna, and Kano States during this period.

    “Central states like Niger, Benue, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Plateau, and Nasarawa will see morning cloudiness and light to moderate rainfall, with a high risk of flooding in parts of Plateau.

    “In the south, light to moderate rains will affect Ondo, Imo, Abia, Enugu, Ebonyi, Anambra, Edo, Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers, Cross River, and Akwa Ibom States.”

    According to the agency, Tuesday will bring sunny skies with patchy clouds to the north, while thunderstorms and rains persist in parts of Adamawa, Taraba, and neighboring states.

    “Central and southern regions will continue experiencing moderate rainfall.

    “By Wednesday, northern states will have sunny mornings with thunderstorms developing later, while the central region will see cloudy skies and moderate rains.

    “Southern states, including Ebonyi, Akwa Ibom, Rivers, and Cross River, will experience morning showers and moderate to heavy afternoon rains.” it said.

    NiMet warned residents in flood-prone areas to activate emergency responses, avoid driving during heavy rains, secure loose objects, and take precautions against strong winds and low nighttime temperatures.

    It also advised disconnecting electrical appliances during storms and avoiding shelter under tall trees.

    The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has forecast thunderstorms and cloudiness across the country from Wednesday to Friday.

    In its weather outlook released on Tuesday in Abuja, NiMet predicted morning thunderstorms over parts of Taraba, Kaduna, Kebbi, Sokoto, and Zamfara states.

    “Afternoon and evening thunderstorms are expected over Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Kano, Kaduna, Katsina, Kebbi, Sokoto, Zamfara, and Taraba states.

    “In the North-central region, localized morning thunderstorms are forecast for Plateau, Nasarawa, Niger, Kwara, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), with afternoon and evening thunderstorms over Nasarawa, Kogi, Benue, Niger, Plateau, and the FCT.

    “In the southern region, morning thunderstorms are expected over Ogun, Ondo, Delta, Cross River, Bayelsa, Rivers, Lagos, and Akwa Ibom states, with thunderstorms spreading to most places later in the day.

    “On Thursday, morning thunderstorms are expected over Sokoto, Kebbi, and Zamfara states, with afternoon thunderstorms over Taraba, Adamawa, Kaduna, Gombe, and Bauchi states.

    “The North-central region will see mostly sunny skies with isolated thunderstorms in parts of Benue, Kogi, and Kwara.”

    It said Friday’s forecast includes morning thunderstorms over Adamawa, Taraba, and Kaduna states, with afternoon storms in the same areas.

    It also said the North-central region would have sunny skies with clouds and localised afternoon thunderstorms in Plateau, Nasarawa, FCT, Benue, and Kogi.

    NiMet warned that strong winds might precede thunderstorms and advised the public to take precautions such as fastening loose objects, avoiding driving in heavy rain, disconnecting electrical appliances, and staying away from tall trees.

    The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted thundery and rainy activities across the country from Sunday to Tuesday. NiMet’s weather outlook, released on Saturday, forecast thunderstorms over parts of Borno, Jigawa, Taraba, Adamawa, Bauchi, and Gombe States in the northern region during Sunday’s morning hours.

    According to the agency, thunderstorms are expected over most parts of the region during the afternoon and evening hours.

    “In the North Central region, thunderstorms with rain are expected over parts of the Federal Capital Territory, Benue, Nasarawa, and Plateau States during the morning hours. Later in the day, thunderstorms with rain are expected over the entire region. Cloudy skies are expected over southern cities during the morning hours, with intermittent rain expected over most parts of the region later in the day.”

    On Monday, morning thunderstorms are anticipated over parts of Gombe, Bauchi, Taraba, Adamawa, Yobe, and Jigawa States, with thunderstorms expected over the northern region later in the day. NiMet predicted morning thunderstorms with rain over parts of the Federal Capital Territory, Kogi, Niger, and Kwara States.

    It forecast thunderstorms over parts of the Federal Capital Territory, Plateau, and Niger States later in the day, with cloudy skies over southern states. NiMet anticipated intermittent rain over most parts of the region during the afternoon and evening hours.

    “For Tuesday, morning thunderstorms are expected over parts of Sokoto, Kebbi, Zamfara, and Kaduna States in the northern region. Later in the day, cloudy skies are anticipated over the entire region.

    “In the North Central region, thunderstorms with rain are anticipated over parts of Niger and Kwara States during the morning hours. During the afternoon and evening hours, thunderstorms with rain are expected over parts of Kogi, the Federal Capital Territory, and Benue States. Intermittent rain is expected over the southern region throughout the day.”

    The agency urged residents to avoid flood-prone areas due to the high likelihood of urban flooding in major cities caused by heavy downpours, while strong winds may precede rains in areas where thunderstorms are likely to occur.

    It further urged the public to adhere to safety advisories issued by relevant authorities and stay informed through weather updates from NiMet by visiting its website (www.nimet.gov.ng). The agency advised airline operators to obtain airport-specific weather reports (flight documentation) from NiMet for effective planning in their operations.

    The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted cloudy weather and thunderstorms between Friday and Sunday across the country.

    This is according to the  NiMet`s weather outlook released on Thursday in Abuja which forecasted a cloudy atmosphere in the northern region with prospects of thunderstorms.

    ” Some  of the States expected to be affected by the climatic change were  Sokoto, Zamfara, Kebbi, Kaduna, Taraba and Adamawa states”

    NiMet noted that the prospects of thunderstorms are expected over parts of Borno, Adamawa, Kano, Bauchi, Kebbi, Zamfara, Katsina, Gombe, Jigawa and Taraba states later in the day.

    “Cloudy atmosphere with intervals of sunshine is anticipated over the North central region with prospects of morning rains over parts of the Federal Capital Territory, Benue, Nasarawa and Niger states.

    “Later in the day, thunderstorms was  anticipated over parts of the Federal Capital Territory, Niger, Benue, Kogi, Nasarawa, Kwara and Plateau states.”

    “Intermittent rainfall is expected in some parts of Enugu, Imo, Abia, Ebonyi, Anambra, Edo, Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Ondo, Ekiti, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Rivers, Lagos, Bayelsa and Delta states during the forecast period” it added.

    The agency has envisaged thunderstorms over the entire region in the afternoon and evening.

    “Cloudy morning is anticipated for the North central region with prospects of rains over parts of Kwara, Niger, Kogi and the Federal Capital Territory”

    “ Intermittent rain is also  anticipated over parts of Enugu, Imo, Abia, Ebonyi, Anambra, Edo, Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Ondo, Ekiti, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Rivers, Lagos, Bayelsa and Delta states within the forecast period, “ it said.

    NiMet predicted sunny skies on Sunday with few patches of clouds over the northern region with chances of a few thunderstorms over parts of Bauchi, Adamawa, Taraba, Jigawa, Borno and Gombe States in the morning hours.

    According to it, thunderstorms are envisaged over the entire region in the afternoon and evening hours.

    “Cloudy atmosphere with sunshine intervals is anticipated over the North central region in the morning with prospects of rains over parts of Nasarawa, the Federal Capital Territory and Plateau.

    “ There are prospects of thunderstorms over parts of Niger, Kwara, Benue, Kogi, Plateau and the Federal Capital Territory in the afternoon/evening hours.

    “Intermittent rains are expected over parts of Enugu, Imo, Abia, Ebonyi, Anambra, Edo, Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Ondo, Ekiti, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Rivers, Lagos, Bayelsa and Delta within the forecast period, “ it said.

    According to NiMet, for areas where thunderstorms are expected, strong winds are likely to precede the rains and as such, trees, electric poles, unsecured objects and weak buildings may be felled, so the public is advised to be cautious.

    It further advised the public to stay in-door especially during heavy rainfall to avoid being struck by lightning.

    “All Airline operators are advised to avail themselves of weather reports periodically from NiMet for effective planning in their operations. Moderate to heavy rainfall could lead to flash flood. The public is advised to take necessary caution”

    “Disaster risk managers, agencies and individuals should be proactive, to avert loss of lives and property during rainy season” it added.

    NiMet`s weather outlook released on Sunday predicted cloudy atmosphere on Monday with patches of clouds over the northern region, with prospects of morning thunderstorms over parts of Adamawa, Kaduna and Taraba states.

    NiMet forecast thunderstorms over parts of Sokoto, Zamfara, Borno, Taraba, Adamawa, Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Bauchi, Jigawa, Gombe and Kebbi States later in the day.

    “Cloudy atmosphere with intervals of sunshine is envisaged over the North central region with prospects of morning thunderstorms over parts of the Federal Capital Territory, Plateau, Benue and Nasarawa states.

    “Later in the day, isolated thunderstorms are anticipated over the entire region.

    “Cloudy atmosphere is envisaged over parts of inland states of South and coastal cities in the morning with chances of isolated thunderstorms over parts of Lagos, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Rivers, Delta and Bayelsa states,” it said.

    According to NiMet, thunderstorms are expected over the entire region later in the day.

    The agency anticipated sunny atmosphere on Tuesday with patches of clouds over the northern region and prospect of morning thunderstorms over parts of Sokoto, Kebbi, Taraba and Adamawa state.

    It predicted thunderstorms over parts of Katsina, Kaduna, Borno, Adamawa and Taraba stated later in the day and thunderstorms over parts of Nasarawa and Kogi states.

    “Later in the afternoon and evening hours, thunderstorms are expected over parts of Plateau, Niger, the Federal Capital Territory, Kwara and Kogi states.

    “Cloudy atmosphere is expected over the inland states of the South and the coastal areas with chances of thunderstorms over Imo, Enugu,Ebonyi, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa and Lagos later of the day.

    “Few patches of clouds over the northern region with prospects of morning thunderstorms over parts of Bauchi, Kaduna and Jigawa states,” it said.

    The agency predicted thunderstorms over parts of Sokoto, Zamfara, Kebbi, Katsina, Kano, Jigawa, Yobe, Borno, Taraba and Adamawa states later in the day.

    NiMet`s weather outlook released on Thursday in Abuja predicted cloudy skies on Friday with intervals of sunshine over the northern region.

    According to NiMet, there are chances of morning thunderstorms over parts of Kebbi, Southern Borno, Adamawa and Taraba.

    “Later in the afternoon and evening hours, prospects of thunderstorms are expected over parts of Katsina, Zamfara, Kano, Kaduna, Gombe, Bauchi, Kebbi, Taraba and Adamawa state.

    “Cloudy atmosphere with intervals of sunshine is expected over the north central region with chances of morning thunderstorms over parts of Niger and Kwara states.

    “Prospects of thunderstorm are expected over parts of the Federal Capital Territory, Nasarawa, Kwara, Benue, Kogi, Niger and Plateau state during the afternoon and evening hours,’` it said.

    The agency forecast cloudy atmosphere over the inland cities and the coastal states of the south with chances of morning rains over parts of Ogun and Lagos.

    NiMet envisaged thunderstorms over parts of Osun, Ondo, Ogun, Oyo, Edo, Abia, Enugu, Ebonyi, Imo, Bayelsa, Cross River, Rivers, Delta and Lagos later in the day.

    According to the agency, cloudy atmosphere with intervals of sunshine is expected over the northern region with chances of thunderstorms over part of Taraba and Adamawa during the Saturday`s morning hours.

    NiMet anticipated prospects of thunderstorms over parts of Katsina, Borno, Adamawa, Taraba and Kaduna State later in the day.

    “The north central region is expected to be cloudy with intervals of sunshine with chances of thunderstorms over parts of Niger, Kwara and Kogi state in the morning hours.

    “There are prospects of thunderstorms over parts of the Federal Capital Territory, Benue, Niger and Plateau state during the afternoon and evening hours.

    “Cloudy atmosphere is expected over the inland cities and the coastal states of the south with chances of early morning rains over parts of Oyo, Ekiti, Ogun, Osun, Ondo, Anambra, Imo, Enugu, Cross River, Delta and Lagos State.

    “ During the afternoon and evening hours, prospects of thunderstorms are expected over parts of Enugu, Anambra, Imo, Abia, Ebonyi, Rivers, Cross River and Akwa Ibom state, “ he said.

    The agency forecast cloudy skies on Sunday with intervals of sunshine over the northern region with chances of morning thunderstorms over parts of Sokoto, Gombe, Bauchi, Adamawa, Taraba, Yobe and Borno state.

    According to it, prospects of thunderstorms are expected over parts of Borno, Adamawa and Taraba state later in the day.

    “Cloudy skies with intervals of sunshine are expected over the north central state with chances of thunderstorm over parts of Plateau State during the morning hours.

    “Later in the day, prospects of thunderstorms are expected over parts of the Federal Capital Territory. Cloudy atmosphere is expected over the Inland cities and the Coastal states of the South during the morning hours.

    “Prospects of thunderstorms is expected over parts of Edo, Imo, Abia, Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers, Lagos, Akwa Ibom and Cross River state, “ it said.

    NiMet predicted strong winds to precede the rains and as such, unsecured objects and weak buildings might be blown away.

    According to it, trees, roofs, electrical poles and their wirings may be displaced.

    “Electric surges can occur so the public is advised to be cautious.

    “To reduce incidences of erosion and overflow of water beyond its normal limit, gutters and water ways should be cleared of debris and obstacles to ensure free flow of water, “ it said.

    The agency advised the airline operators to get updated weather reports from NiMet for effective planning in their operations.

    The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted cloudiness and thunderstorms from Thursday to Saturday.

    NiMet’s weather outlook released on Wednesday in Abuja also predicted cloudy skies over the Northern region.

    It also predicted thunderstorms over Kano; Kaduna; Zamfara; Sokoto; Borno; Adamawa; Gombe; Yobe ; and Kebbi states during the morning hours.

    According to NiMet, there are prospects of wide spread thunderstorms across the Northern region in the afternoon and evening period.

    NiMet anticipated cloudy skies over the North central region in the morning hours with chances of thunderstorms and rains over parts of the Federal Capital Territory, Niger, Kwara and Nasarawa states.

    “ Later in the day, isolated thunderstorms are anticipated over parts of Plateau, Benue, Kwara, Kogi and the Federal Capital Territory.

    “The Inland and the Coastal cities of the South are expected to be cloudy in the morning hours with chances of rains over parts of Lagos, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Imo, Ondo, Bayelsa and Ogun.

    “ Later in the day, thunderstorms and rains are anticipated over parts of Enugu, Imo, Ondo, Benin, Cross River, Delta, Rivers and Lagos, “ it said.

    The agency envisaged cloudy skies over the Northern region in the morning hours on Thursday with isolated thunderstorms over parts of Borno, Yola and Bauchi states.

    NiMet anticipated thunderstorms over parts of Katsina, Borno, Gombe and Bauchi later in the day.

    “The North Central region is expected to be under cloudy skies with chances of isolated thunderstorms and rains over parts of Niger, Nasarawa and Plateau in the morning hours.

    “ Later in the day, isolated thunderstorms are anticipated over parts of Kwara, Kogi, Benue, Niger and the Federal Capital Territory.

    “Cloudy skies are anticipated over the Inland and the Coastal cities of the South with chances of thunderstorms and rains over Ondo and Ebonyi in the morning hours,” it said.

    The agency also forecast thunderstorms and rains over parts of Oyo, Ondo, Enugu, Osun, Imo, Abia, Cross River, Delta, Akwa Ibom, Lagos and Rivers later in the day.

    According to NiMet, cloudy skies are anticipated over the Northern region on Friday with chances of thunderstorms over parts of Katsina, Kano, Bauchi, Gombe and Yobe in the afternoon and evening hours .

    It predicted cloudy skies to prevail over the North central region in the morning hours with chances of moderate rains over Kwara, Niger and Kogi.

    NiMet anticipated isolated thunderstorms over parts of Benue, Nasarawa and the Federal Capital Territory later in the day.

    The agency anticipated cloudy skies over the Inland and Coastal cities of the South with chances of thunderstorms over parts of Rivers during the morning hours.

    NiMet predicted prospects of thunderstorms and rains over the Coastal cities and parts of Ondo; Oyo; Ogun; Umuahia; Imo; and Enugu states in the evening.
