Ajaero called on the President to “immediately call Aliko Dangote and Alhaji Sayyu Dantata to order” and impress on them to respect the nation and international law

Ajaero added that the government must not look the other way while a few individuals privatise the nation’s energy future and enslave its workforce, stressing,

The NLC President accused Dangote Group of exploiting Nigerian workers while disregarding their constitutional rights to unionise and bargain collectively.

“The NLC unequivocally condemn the anti-union, anti-worker, and monopolistic practices of the Dangote Group and its affiliates.

“Nigerian workers are not slaves and cannot be serially abused without consequences,” he said.

Ajaero said the congress further demanded the immediate unionisation of Dangote Refinery and all its subsidiaries.

Accordig to him, preparations are underway for a united resistance in solidarity with NUPENG, including possible industrial action.

“If Dangote continues on this reckless anti-union path, we will move beyond words to action.

“Our solidarity is not negotiable. We will fight because we must.

“The working class must not be sacrificed on the altar of corporate greed,” he said.

“So he has done a lot and enough in terms of economic recovery, and we can all attest that food stuff prices are going down daily because of the diversification.

“We really can’t achieve much in four years like the opposition parties had confessed, but a lot had been achieved in the areas of the economy and infrastructure development,” Fagbemi said.

He added that the party’s state chairmen does not want to be distracted in anyway ahead of 2027 general election, but to remain focused on delivering the Renewed Hope Agenda.

  • Tinubu orders mandatory health insurance for MDAs

Tinubu orders mandatory health insurance for MDAs

President Bola Tinubu has directed the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) to enforce mandatory health insurance across all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).

‎The directive aligns with the provisions of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) Act, 2022, and mandates immediate issuance of a service-wide circular to ensure compliance.

‎The President also called for “further, closer and constructive engagement with the private sector on the Act to ensure that businesses are not unduly constrained.”

‎According to a statement issued by Presidential Spokesperson, Mr Bayo Onanuga, on Wednesday, the directive outlines five key areas of implementation across public institutions.

‎“All MDAs must enrol their employees in the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) health insurance plan.”

‎MDAs may also procure additional private insurance coverage where necessary, as long as it aligns with the NHIA Act.

‎“All entities participating in public procurement must present a valid NHIA-issued Health Insurance Certificate as part of their eligibility documentation.”

‎This certificate serves as proof of compliance and is a precondition for participating in any procurement-related activities.

‎“All MDAs must require applicants to present valid NHIA Health Insurance Certificates as a precondition for issuing and renewing licenses, permits, and other official approvals.”

‎To support this, the NHIA will develop a digital verification platform to ensure transparency and ease of access.

‎MDAs are further required to collaborate with NHIA to establish internal systems for verifying the authenticity of submitted health insurance certificates.

‎They must also implement consistent compliance monitoring to ensure all regulatory obligations under the Act are met.

‎The presidential order aims to expand health coverage, protect workers, reduce out-of-pocket expenses, and improve accountability in both public and private sectors.

‎The NHIA Act, enacted in 2022, mandates health insurance for all Nigerians and empowers the NHIA to take necessary steps toward universal coverage.

‎In spite of advancements in the health sector, national insurance coverage remains alarmingly low, three years after the law’s passage.

  • Fear grips Ex-Minister, Sirika, says “I’m not in any coalition against Tinubu”

Fear grips Ex-Minister, Sirika, says “I’m not in any coalition against Tinubu”

Scared Former Aviation Minister, Hadi Sirika, on Wednesday denied any link the opposition coalition against the re-election of President Bola Tinubu in 2027.

Sirika, a two-term minister under former President Muhammadu Buhari’s government, issued the rebuttal in an interview on Channels Television’s Morning Brief.

“No I am not,” he said in reaction to reports suggesting he is joining forces against Tinubu.

The ex-minister confirmed visiting the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Tuesday and held talks with presidential spokesman, Bayo Onanuga.

“Yesterday, I was with Chief Bayo Onanuga in the presidential villa and he said I was in the coalition.

“I told him I was not and never will be. He said he got that from the reports. People can join coalition, it is democracy,” he stated.

Early July, the coalition championed by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar adopted the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as its platform for the 2027 general elections.

The coalition said it aims to provide a competent, capable, and compassionate leadership that prioritises the welfare of Nigerians.

Notable members of the coalition include former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Governor Rotimi Amaechi, and former Senate President David Mark, who has been appointed as the National Chairman of the ADC.

    Soft Landing?
Since leaving office in 2023, the former minister is currently facing trial for alleged corruption and abuse of office.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) accused him of awarding multi-billion naira contracts to companies owned by his family members, including his daughter, Fatima Sirika, and son-in-law, Jalal Hamma.

Specifically, the EFCC alleged that Sirika split a federal aviation contract worth N2.7 billion to bypass regulatory approvals and awarded them to family-controlled companies.

The EFCC said Sirika’s daughter and son-in-law’s company, Al Buraq Global Investment Limited, allegedly received N1.3 billion for an unexecuted aviation contract.

But when asked if his visit to the Presidential Villa was to get a soft landing, the former minister said the case was still pending in court.

He said that it is prejudice for him to comment on the issue.

“The purpose of the meeting was to officially pay our condolences to the President who did extremely well after the demise of our leader, President Muhammadu Buhari.

“Also to appreciate him of what he has done and to assure him of the support of our party for which he is our leader.

“Unfortunately, this matter is in court of law and it is not a matter that should be subjected to the press.

” I am very clean man. I have worked with people. the government has every instrument at their disposal to find my character,” he added.

Tinubu directs military reinforcement to crush banditry in Katsina

President Bola Tinubu has directed the Armed Forces of Nigeria to deploy advanced hardware and surveillance systems in Katsina State to counter rising attacks on civilians by bandits.‎

‎The president gave the directive during a meeting with Katsina leaders, led by Gov. Dikko Radda, at the State House on Tuesday evening.

‎According to a statement by Presidential spokesperson, Mr Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu emphasised the urgency of addressing insecurity across Nigeria, starting with vulnerable regions like Katsina.

‎The president said the Federal Government would consider the operations of a State Police, and further equip recently deployed forest guards.

‎Tinubu criticised those politicising the state police initiative, stressing the need for community-based security outfits familiar with local terrains and culture.

Onanuga quoted the president as saying: ‎”The security challenges that we are facing are surmountable. Yes, we have porous borders.

“We inherited weaknesses that could have been addressed earlier. It is a challenge that we must fix, and we are facing it.

‎”I have today directed all the security agencies to energise further and look at the strategies. We have approved the additional acquisition of drones.”

‎‎Tinubu has also ordered daily operational reports on Katsina to ensure constant oversight and quick responses.

‎He said: ‎”I am reviewing all the aspects of security; I have to create a state police. We are looking at that holistically.

‎”We will defeat insecurity. We must protect our children, people, livelihood, places of worship, and recreational spaces. They can’t intimidate us.”

‎‎Tinubu also assured that former President Muhammadu Buhari would be immortalised, citing his legacy as a foundation for national continuity.

‎‎He continued: “The time we lost our brother, President Buhari, is a loss for all of us. It is the will of God Almighty, but he has left in a good way.

‎”He didn’t hand over a defeated country, a battered political structure, but a legacy of success, which is the most important thing.

‎‎”We just have to continue praying that Almighty Allah should grant him Aljannah Firdausi and give the rest of us the ability to stand very strong and push Nigeria forward. Not to look back in sorrow but move forward with success.

‎‎”It would have been regretful if we had lost the elections to the other parties. There are no other wishes he would have had than to have Katsina State and the Presidency intact.”

‎‎Radda thanked Tinubu for prioritising Katsina, including appointments of indigenes to strategic roles and ongoing infrastructure development.

‎‎”Mr president, I would like to thank you very much, and I want to say before our elders that I never came to the President with a request that he rejected.

‎”We thank you, Mr President, for sharing with Katsina. You are a true son of Katsina State. I recall that Katsina was the first state you visited and spent a night in. We thank you for the privilege.

‎‎”We are here again, Mr President, I know that you are aware of the problem affecting our state,” he added.

‎‎Radda appealed for greater Federal support in security, youths empowerment, and critical infrastructure projects.

‎‎The former Governor of Katsina state, Aminu Masari, expressed appreciation for the state funeral accorded to the late president Buhari, calling it a mark of deep respect.

‎‎Masari reaffirmed the loyalty of Katsina to the Tinubu administration and its security vision.

‎‎The Waziri of Katsina, Sen. Ibrahim Ida, praised Tinubu’s commitment to infrastructure, particularly the Kano-Maradi Rail project.

‎‎He also urged for an upgrade of the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua International Airport to enhance functionality and regional connectivity.

‎‎Ida stressed that Southern Katsina required heightened security presence from the Federal Government to further protect lives and restore peace.

  • “Politically Displaced Politicians Plotting To Unseat Tinubu” — Presidency

“Politically Displaced Politicians Plotting To Unseat Tinubu” — Presidency

Special Adviser to the President on Media and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, has described those calling for the removal of President Bola Tinubu from office as “power-hungry politicians” who feel politically displaced.

He spoke against the backdrop of comments of former Kaduna State governor, Mallam Nasir el-ERufai, that the President would not be re-elected in 2027.

The former Kaduna governor had, in an interview on Channels Television’s Politics programme on Sunday night, said: “I was governor of Kaduna State; I was one of Bola Tinubu’s biggest campaigners, but I couldn’t deliver the state to him. Bola Tinubu himself couldn’t win his state with his own governor in place. So, these things are not as theoretical as people want them to be.

“If you want to engage in self-delusion, you are free to do so. I will not tell you how we are going to win, but I tell you very clearly, the worst-case scenario in the 2027 elections is that no winner will emerge in the first round.

“We may have to go for a runoff, and Bola Tinubu will not be on the ballot for the runoff because he will, at best, be third in the election. He has no pathway to win. I have done the maths, I have done the analysis; he cannot, he will, at best, be third.

“But he can deceive himself; he may think, oh, you know, I have money, because they have taken all the money in the country, I have INEC, I have the police, I have the army. You know what, President Tinubu, invite ex-President Goodluck Jonathan for a chat, and ask him if he didn’t have all these in 2015, and we got him out. Is the case still the same? Similar to 2015? It’s worse.

“It’s like those who say Tinubu has never lost an election. That can be contested, but it’s okay, he’s a political strategist, he’s this, he’s that. Wait.

“I naturally have said, if you want to learn some lessons, invite ex-President Goodluck Jonathan for a chat over coffee, and ask him what happened in 2015. That’s all.’’

But reacting yesterday, Onanuga, in a statement via his X handle, accused el-Rufai of being at the forefront of the campaign of removing the President, despite admitting in the past that four years was not enough for any leader to deliver “meaningful changes.”

He said: “Nasir El-Rufai confesses here that four years is not enough for a political office holder to make ‘meaningful changes’. Yet he is at the forefront of the gang of political desperados plotting President Tinubu’s ouster, just two years into his tenure. What a contradiction!

“In contrast to the political laggards and underachievers who were once governors in Anambra, Rivers and Kaduna states, President Tinubu and his team have implemented meaningful changes in our country over the past two years, positioning us on the path of prosperity.’’

He argued that Tinubu’s administration had achieved significant progress within two years, citing increased foreign reserves, growth in the stock market, harmonisation of the exchange rate, and four consecutive months of inflation decline.

“Phenomenal wealth creation in the stock market has seen ASI skyrocket from 53,000 points to over 140,000 points. Over N26 trillion in additional wealth has been created in the market under Tinubu’s watch,” he said.

Onanuga also pointed to reforms in education and social welfare, including student loans through NELFUND and cash transfers to vulnerable households.

He added that states and local governments were receiving more funds from the centre, enabling them to embark on capital projects and create jobs.

“The governors said they have never had it so good,” he noted, insisting that those behind the alleged plot were acting out of desperation.

He wrote further: “Yet, these power-hungry politicians want the President, who has achieved so much, to be removed, all because they have become politically displaced and irrelevant. May they never succeed in their plot against our nation and people.’’

The presidential spokesman said El-Rufai’s past comments would be used against him during political campaigns.

“Please save the video. We shall confront Nasir with it when electioneering starts,” Onanuga noted..
