2027: Atiku, Obi should forget it as odds favour TInubu to reemerge president -Former ACF scribe

Ex-Secretary General of the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), Chief Anthony N.Z. Sani has said Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi should forget 2027 as the North would rather allow President Bola Tinubu have a second term in 2027 and wait till 2031 to have one of its own installed as the next president.

This, according to Sani, will enable the North to also have the presidency for two terms of eight years.

The ex-ACF scribe told The Nation in an interview in Kaduna that this thinking in that part of the country will likely count against the ambition of former vice president Atiku Abubakar and the presidential candidate of Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 election, Mr. Peter Obi, in 2027.

The political dynamics surrounding zoning currently favour President Bola Tinubu,” he said.

Continuing, Sani said Tinubu “has only one term left, and after 2027, power is expected by many to return to the North in 2031. That prospect alone will influence how the North votes.

Tinubu, being the only southern candidate constitutionally limited to one more term, is likely to get the support of voters who are thinking beyond 2027.

Southern voters, because of the zoning arrangement and the quest for fairness, would not want the presidency to return to the North just yet.

“They would prefer the presidency remains in the South until 2031 so they can complete their expected eight years before power shifts again.

“Therefore, it is unlikely that the South would vote massively for a Northern candidate in 2027.”

Sani also said most northern voters “would also strategically vote for Tinubu, not only out of loyalty to the late Buhari, but also because it aligns with their long-term interest of producing the next president in 2031.

Supporting Tinubu in 2027 means the North can present a strong case for power to return to their region after his final term.”

Sani said the influence of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari would also play a role in Tinubu’s bid for a second term, especially in the North because, according to him, “Buhari was able to command the loyalty and support of most northern voters largely because he was widely perceived as an honest, disciplined, transparent, principled and austere leader.”

He added: “Northerners saw him (Buhari) as someone who would never dip his hands into public funds for personal gain. That image gave him an uncommon kind of cult followership, especially among the poor.

“With his demise and the evolving political alignments ahead of 2027, I do not think that his political influence will fade or wane substantially, at least not so soon.

“His legacy is still fresh in the hearts of many, especially in the rural North, and that will continue to shape voting patterns for some time to come.

With the passing of President Buhari, I believe President Bola Tinubu may still prevail among northern voters for two key reasons.

“First, because the influence of Buhari, particularly in the North, is still very strong and may not diminish significantly before the 2027 elections.

“Second, because of the politics of zoning and rotational presidency, which is very important to many Nigerians today.

You may recall that when Buhari was still alive, he made it clear he did not support the coalition of opposition forces against the APC.

“He publicly distanced himself from such efforts, which showed that his loyalty remained with the APC platform that brought him to power.

“That endorsement of continuity with the APC by Buhari still matters to many of his supporters today.”

  • This is genocide not farmer/herder conflict, review Plateau security template”-Women beg TInubu

This is genocide not farmer/herder conflict, review Plateau security template”-Women beg TInubu

Plateau State woke up to another gory tale of mindless killings when Riyom, once again, came under attack from marauding Fulani bandits within two weeks.

Apparently in pains, six women organisations in Plateau in a jointly signed statement have appealed to President Bola TInubu to look beyond the farmer herder conflict and review the security template of Plateau while cataloguing series of killings.

This time, it was Binda, in Ta-Hoss village that bore the brunt of this unending, unprovoked evil being metted on Plateau communities.

At the last count, 27 people reportedly died following the attack on that community despite the presence of security personnel and armoured military assets.

As mothers and daughters of the land, we are shedding unseen tears and no words available to us can describe the feeling arising from these murders and destruction of entire communities which have continued in defiance of reason and logic.

As women and mothers, we are especially traumatised by the constant flow of the blood of our people.

The sight of butchered babies, their mothers, and breadwiners keeps our hearts pounding. Burnt homesteads and outright destruction of livelihoods are horrible and heartbreaking sights.

We have watched with trepidation how these attacks have become repetitive without corresponding government intervention. We are disturbed that the response has always been merely reactionary, sadly contained in condolence visits and palliatives, without as much as a decisive final solution.

We join the people of Riyom and, indeed, Plateau State at large, to call on the authorities to respond to this matter with the sincerity and urgency that it deserves.

It is common knowledge that the unprovoked violence visited on our people can no longer be described in simplistic and dishonest statements as herder/farmer crisis. It has become apparent that this is an organised genocidal campaign against our people and land that should be met with comparable force.

We join other well-meaning Nigerians to call on the Federal Government to review the security template for Plateau State in line with what is required for our state’s peculiar security challenge.
That security personnel have often been suspected of collaboration with these attackers demands urgent attention and not what appears as a nonchallant attitude.

We commend His Excellency,Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang for his on-the-spot assessment of the situation in the attacked community, which revealed a troubling lack of accountability on the part of the security personnel. We are worried that posers raised by the Governor during the visit were not satisfactorily responded to by the leadership of the sector command. This, together with eyewitness accounts suggesting indifference or active collaboration by the personnel calls for thorough investigation and accompanying tough sanctions where necessary.

We appreciate the Governor for his inspirational leadership, and for his assurance that Riyom, like the rest of Plateau State, will not fall.

In the same manner, we thank all concerned Nigerians for their support and prominent sons of Plateau like the Honourable Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Dr. Nentawe Goshwe, for identifying and standing with the people of Riyom as a brother and also representing the Federal Government. His visit is a testament to the fact that what affects any Plateau person affects all.

We also acknowledge the motherly sensitivity, empathy, and compassionate love demonstrated
by the visits and donations by the mother of the nation, First Lady Sen.Oluremi Tinubu, in the wake of recent killings in the state.

We appeal to our mother and First Lady Ngo Oluremi Tinubi to use her voice and strategic position to contribute to bringing an end to the killings of our innocent children, sons, daughters, husbands and wives.

We appeal that the same prompt and compassionate spirit be deployed by the Federal Government, led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to drive the process for an end to the Plateau attacks.

We demand security for our land and people and justice for victims of these atrocities.
We demand action. Enough of all the words and empty promises.

President Tinubu hails Super Falcons on 10th WAFCON title ‎

President Bola Tinubu has congratulated the Super Falcons of Nigeria on winning the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), claiming a record-extending 10th title.

Nigeria staged a stunning comeback, beating hosts Morocco 3-2 in a tense final in Rabat, Morocco.

‎The Falcons overcame a two-goal deficit to clinch their historic victory and equal their own continental record.

‎The President’s message was delivered in a statement by Presidential Spokesperson, Mr Bayo Onanuga shortly after the match on Saturday.

‎Tinubu hailed the victory  as a symbol of resilience and national pride.

‎”The Super Falcons’ spectacular performance tonight in Rabat, coming from behind to beat a spirited Moroccan side playing in front of a passionate home crowd, exemplifies the determination that defines the Nigerian spirit.”

‎”With hard work, dedication, and tenacity, you have achieved the mission the nation dreamed of and prayed for.

“The nation looks forward to welcoming our champions. Congratulations! Nigeria celebrates you,”he said.

‎The President had earlier on his official X handle encouraged and pepped up the team to go all out for victory.

‎”My beloved Super Falcons! tonight, you stand at the cusp of history as you face the host nation, Morocco, in the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) final at the Olympic Stadium in Rabat.

‎”Your performance at this tournament over the past three weeks has been awe-inspiring. You have represented our country with pride, honour, and strength.

‎”In the pitch and off the pitch, you have demonstrated true sportsmanship,” the President said before the final.

‎NAN reports that the highly mobile Moroccan side struck early with goals from Ghizlane Chebbak and Sanaa Mssoudy in a dominant first half.

‎But the Super Falcons responded after the break, starting with a penalty converted by Esther Okoronkwo.

‎Okoronkwo later assisted Folashade Ijamilusi for the equaliser, shifting momentum in Nigeria’s favour.

‎Jennifer Echegini sealed the win with a dramatic late goal from a well-delivered free kick. (

  • Tinubu needs little from North in 2027 – Fayose

Tinubu needs little from North in 2027 – Fayose

Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has said that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu needs little votes from the North to win the 2027 election.

Fayose disclosed this during an interview on Channels TV’s Politics Today, on Friday.

Fayose said, “Tinubu outside the government consummated the APC, took that APC up and defeated the PDP in 2015. Without the opposition in 2023, the same Tinubu defeated everybody. So you think the man does not have a brain even if he does not talk? It’s only if I don’t have what it takes like him, I would have been a strategist.

“The man has taken all over the south; he only needs little to turn it in the the north. Peter Obi will still have a good show. You can’t deny that. I always tell the truth. Obi will have a better show than the PDP. The PDP will come fourth and the ADC will come third. The APC will come first. Obi will come second. Write it down. You don’t have to be fooling people.

“On whether I’m trusted or not, I don’t have to be trusted. That’s their problem. You know the situation of our party today. And it’s in my prayer that the PDP does not come fourth in the coming election.

“You know, when I came here, I said the party was already going into a carcass. And if you recall very well, the majority of people that have defected after my coming here are huge enough and have left the PDP in a carcass. The situation in PDP, pretenders can pretend but you know that the PDP had messed up. Managing the party has become an issue.”

  • OWNERSHIP of WARRI: Pessu family writes Tinubu over Rita-Lori’s doctored ancestral facts

OWNERSHIP of WARRI: Pessu family writes Tinubu over Rita-Lori’s doctored ancestral facts

…says under normal circumstances we ought to have ignored her account but it’s good to put the records straight

The Ebiowa Pessu family has written to President Bola Tinubu to straighten the misinformation put out by Chief Rita-Lori Ogbebor over the ownership of Warri.

Apparently peeved by the gross misrepresentation of facts by Ogbebor, the Pessu family in a letter made available to TheNewsGuru.com, TNG gave a vivid account of the realities surrounding the records of the ownership of Warri.

Recall that Ogbebor had written a letter to President TInubu giving an account allegedly laced with falsehood.

The letter signed by Pa Hon D.S.T.O. Pessu titled:’RE: THREAT OF URHOBO AND IJAW CONSPIRACY AND CONNIVANCE WITH
DELTA ELECTORAL COMMISSION ON WARRI-SOUTH WARD DELINEATION
EXERCISE ON OUR ANCESTRAL LAND which the Pessu family copied: Senate president, HoR Speaker, IGP , Chief of Defense Staff, NSA, DSS and others stated that:

    READ FULL LETTER BELOW:

“We are Pessu Ebiowa Family of Warri and we humbly wish to draw Your Excellency’s attention to the above subject matter.

“Our attention has been brought to a Letter dated 22nd April 2025 written to His Excellency by Chief Rita Lori Ogbebor for the Ereku/Ogisi family of Odion Town Warri in respect of the above subject matter.

“In the said letter, Chief Rita Lori Ogbebor created an impression that Warri was initially known as Odion and was founded by her forefather Ogisi. She went ahead to name some families/communities in Warri (amongst whom is the
Pessu Family of Warri) whom she alleged are tenants to her family.
At No. 6 of her Letter which she subtitled as “The Pessu family/community”, she cited Suit No. 25 of 1926 between Ogegede on behalf of himself and agbassa people (Plaintiff) vs Chief Dore Numa (defendant) wherein she referred to the evidence of Chief Dore Numa at paragraph 30 thereof as saying “I gave Pessu permission”.
” This she said defines the status of Pessu family/community.
She went further at No. 7 of her letter which she subtitled as “The Ijaw People/EseIemo family” and stated thus “Suit No. W/26/1929 and others suffice for the status of the Ijaw people in the three Warris.

” And, of which the Ijaw family of Colins Eselemo is on lease from the Pessu family who also on lease and permission by Chief Dore Numa. Thus, both are our tenants.”
Since she wrote the above misinformed and misguided letter she and her family members have been going about harassing our tenants especially with this letter that they are the owners of Warri and that this fact is known to the Presidency.

“We would not have joined issues with her taking into consideration the issue on ground in Warri regarding the delineation exercise in Warri by INEC which has caused so much tension amongst the people in Warri and under whose guise she purports to have written this letter to His Excellency.
However, in order to avert any untold catastrophe that this new found unproved claim of ownership of Pessu lands may cause and also to set the records straight we as a family have decided to write to His Excellency to debunk all the false accounts of Chief Rita Lori Ogbebor regarding ownership of Warri as it relates to the Pessu Family.
First and foremost, we wish to state with all emphasis that the PESSU FAMILY OF WARRI is not, has never and will never be a tenant in Warri, It is a taboo and wickedness of the highest order that anybody will refer to Pessu family as Tenant in Warri.

“Pessu Town was founded by Chief Pessu Ebiowa a direct male descendant of Aborigines of Okotomu-lrigbo (one of the five Aborigine Communities in the Area now known as Warri Kingdom) centuries ago before the advent of the British Colonial Government in Nigeria. It is on record that when the British Consul General Sir Macdonald visited Warri in 1891, Chief Pessu Ebiowa of Pessu Town and Chief Ogbe of Ugbuwangue were amongst the Itsekiri Chiefs he met (see Obaro Ikime Merchant Prince of the Niger Page 69 also J.O.S. Ayomike Selected Essays a mixed Grill page 106).

“The property of Pessu family is made up of land and area which stretches between the river (swamp land) and dry land which was originally part of Okotomu land now known as Pessu Town founded by Chief Pessu Ebiowa as freehold owner under the Itsekiri Native Law and Customary practice free from encumbrances but under the overlordship of the Olu and now vested in the Onare-aja (Head of Family) of Pessu Town for himself and in trust for members of the Pessu family.

“We wish to state that before the Nana war of 1894 and before Chief Dore Numa came into prominence as paramount Chief, the stream that runs from the Warri river down to behind the Roman Catholic Church that further runs down to Cementry Road that make up Pessu Ward and Bowen Ward is Pessu Town which is also inclusive Pessu Town Sawmill Area 1 and Pessu Town Sawmill Area 2 before the 1908 lease B5.
The area comprises present day Pessu Town, Pessu waterside, Pessu lane, Pessu road, Pessu market, Pessu Market road, Pessu Layout(lkpara) and Pessu garage to mention a few. All these areas which have been fully developed from time immemorial till date were leased out by the Pessu family without any challenge, or encumbrance from anybody whatsoever. Amongst some of those leases was the lease granted by the Pessu family to Chief Eselemo which Chief Rita Lori Ogbebor referred to amongst others.
The Pessu family did not and cannot seek any permission from the Ereku/Ogisi or the family of Chief Dore to give out any portion of their land to anybody. We challenge Chief Rita Lori to produce any documentary evidence to show that Pessu family is a tenant to her family or sought the consent of her family to give out leases in Pessu Town. We also challenge Chief Rita Lori Ogbebor to produce any documentary evidence to show that the already built up lands in Pessu Town were leased out by her family.
Upon advent of the British Government Chief Pessu Ebiowa noticed some trespass upon part of his dry land by the Government and he complained to Chief Dore Numa who then was the leader of the itsekiris but the complain fell on deaf ears. Chief Pessu was later to know that it was a connivance between Chief Dore Numa and the British Government to give part of Pessu Land to the Government for administrative purposes, which said land covered by the 1908 lease B5 was then renamed as Alders Town by the British without the consent of Chief Pessu the original owner.
In the 1922 case of DENEDO, WILLIAM MOORE VS DORE NUMA which bothers on claiming of all land involved in lease B2 and lease B5 in Warri township Chief Pessu who was witness in the said case stated in his evidence as follows: “I belong to Pessu of Warri, I am Jekri (Itsekiri) I do not belong to house of Olu Jekri (Itsekiri). I am descended from the people whom Ginuwa met, I recognize Ginuwa as King. Pessu Town is a portion of the land in dispute. The Olu is overlord over our land. The King must give permission before I can grant lease. I go to Dore if I wish to grant lease. I go to him because he is the man in Town not because he is Olu.”
From the evidence above, it is clear that Chief Pessu is a land owner and never a tenant to anybody in Warri. He was never a tenant to Chief Dore but only goes to him for permission not in his personal capacity as the owner of Pessu land or as his tenant but as a represen!ative of the Olu i.e. the man on ground.
To further buttress that Chief Pessu is a land owner from time immemorial and not a tenant in under any guise the Court in the said case per Hon. Justice JFC Webber made a very profound finding when he held as follows: “Dore has dealt with the peoples land for over 30years and there has not been dissentient voice among them. Chief Pessg a witness for the Plaintiff isJekri (Itsekiri) man but not descended for Olu Itsekiri. HIS LAND IS IN THE LAND IN DISPUTE”
From the above extract of the judgment and findings of the court, it is clear that Chief Pessu is a land owner whose land was part of the land in dispute in the. disputed leases of Lease B2 and B5 and ipso facto he Was never a tenant to anybody in Warri. He was never a tenant to Chief Dore. Chief Dore onlwused his position as the leader of Itsekiri and his relationship with the British Government to trespass and confiscate a portion of his land to the British Government i.e. lease B5 which the court find as a fact was part of the land in dispute.
In all of these cases and agitation aforesaid from land owners in Warri against Chief Dore Numa and the British Government, Chief Rita Lori Ogbebor forefathers Ogisi and Ereku whom she said owned the whole Warri were no
where to be found. They were never part of these cases either as parties on record or witnesses. No land was taken from them by Chief Dore or the British Government, they did not fight the British Government who was annexing peoples land through Chief Dore Numa at the time. Chief Dore is not a relative of Chief Rita Lori Ogbebor and never gave Chief Rita Lori Ogbebor family any land at anytime whatsoever.
The question then is how come her so called ancestors are now the owners of the entire Warri including Pessu Town. What we see here is a desperate person who is trying to take undue advantage of the tension regarding the delineation to grab land that do not belong to her family.
This unfounded claim apart from being repulsive it is capable of triggering a further crises situation which we know the government is working very hard engaging stakeholders to avert.
We therefore urge Your Excellency to disregard the portion of Chief Rita Lori Ogbebor misinformed and mischievous claim that Pessu Town/Community and Pessu tenants are tenants to her family as they are all tissues of lies that ought and be thrown into the dust bin.

Kwankwaso slams Tinubu days after meeting with him in Aso Rock, says “he’s marginalizing North

Barely four days after visiting President Bola Tinubu, the 2023 presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has accused his administration of marginalising northern Nigeria by concentrating the country’s resources in the South.

Speaking during the Kano State Stakeholders’ Dialogue on the 2025 Constitutional Amendment on Thursday, Kwankwaso alleged that the federal government was unfairly directing national funds to one section of the country, while leaving the North under-resourced and neglected.

“A situation where the government is taking our resources and dumping it in one part of the country and other parts of the country are left just like that — I don’t believe that is the right thing to do by the government,” Kwankwaso said.

“This is the time for the government to convince our people that the government is not just on one side of the country.”

The former Kano State governor said information available to him suggests that “most of the national budget is now tilting in one direction in this country,” warning that the imbalance could worsen the challenges already facing the region.

He further cautioned that the North is already grappling with insecurity and poverty largely because of a lack of sufficient resources and poor management of what little it receives.

“Let me advise those who are struggling by all means to take everything to remember that some of the issues that we have in this part of the country today have to do with the lack of enough resources and mismanagement of the little that comes in,” he said.

“That is why we have insecurity, we have poverty, and so on. It is happening here mainly, but like a desert, it would go everywhere.”

Kwankwaso’s comments come amid ongoing concerns in northern Nigeria over perceived lopsidedness in appointments, project siting, and allocation of federal funds under the current administration.

TInubu recalls with nostalgia how Awujale predicted 2027 victory for him

President Bola Tinubu has recalled with nostalgia how Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Adetona, who joined his ancestors on July 13, predicted his victory in the 2023 election and added that he would win re-election in 2027.

The president spoke in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, on the life and times of the departed traditional ruler during his eighth day fidau held at Dipo Dina Stadium, where dignitaries bade him final farewell.

At the monarch’s final resting place, the president laid wreaths before holding a private meeting with the bereaved family during the condolence visit.

Describing Oba Adetona as a leader of “conscience and dignity, the President said he was committed to the pursuit of truth and justice.

President Tinubu said: “Today marks a very great day in the history of our nation and particularly the history of our race, the Yoruba race. You can find any further definition of our culture. If you go further from Awujale, you will learn a lot.

For me standing before you today, I thank God Almighty that I stand before you as the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Our wish would not have been completed carefully and richly if I failed in the last election. I was successful because of your support and the blessing of the Awujale.

“I went to him and he said, ‘you are winning that election and you will win second term. Go ahead.’ God has blessed us. If you listened to the richness of his wisdom, I’m extremely proud of him.”

President Tinubu also recalled Oba Adetona’s quiet but impactful role in the country’s democratic journey, describing him as a steadfast supporter of the June 12 struggle.

The president said: “He was always there in times of need for all of us. I could recount the June 12 episode; our protests and its balance and for real, our resistance. Our determination to reverse the annulment of the June 12, 1993 Presidential election. Baba was steadfast, he was resolute and very encouraging.

  • 2027: Ughievwen APC in Delta Adopts Tinubu, Oborevwori as Sole Candidates

2027: Ughievwen APC in Delta Adopts Tinubu, Oborevwori as Sole Candidates

Endorses Dr. Chris Oghenechovwen as Political Leader

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ughievwen Kingdom, Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State, have adopted President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori as their sole candidates for the presidential and gubernatorial elections, respectively in a significant political development ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The decision was reached at a well-attended political gathering of
Ughievwen APC Leaders, Elders and Stakeholders Forum held at Country home of former member House of Representatives, Dr Chris Oghenechovwen at Iwhrekan in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State.

The meeting which drew party stakeholders, community leaders, and grassroots mobilizers, the APC in Ughievwen declared total support for both leaders, citing their track records of performance and dedication to national and state development.

In moving the motion, Barr Bernard Jamaho who said there was no vacancy in Aso Rock and Government House, Asaba said we nominate and adopt President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as sole Presidential candidate of the APC for 2027 and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori as sole Governorship candidate in Delta come 2027 was seconded by Chief Mrs Victoria Djowah.

The motion was however amended by Comrade Reuben Izeze before it was unanimously adopted and passed at the meeting.

The decision was hailed as a strategic move to consolidate unity and rally the people of Ughievwen behind candidates who have shown genuine commitment to delivering dividends of democracy.

The event also marked the formal endorsement of former member of the House of Representatives, Dr. Chris Oghenechovwen, as the political leader of Ughievwen.

The endorsement of Oghenechovwen was sequel to a motion by Olorogun Abraham Erhuen and seconded by former State Publicity Secretary of Sunny Apah.

Widely respected for his leadership pedigree and contributions to the socio-political growth of the region, Dr. Oghenechovwen’s emergence was greeted with excitement and wide approval.

Ughievwen APC Elders including Chief Johnson Boro, Professor G.G. Darah, Chief Patrick Fovie and Chief Andrew Desi in their remarks supported the motion for the enthronement of Dr Chris Oghenechovwen as leader of the party in the area and expressed commitment to the re-election of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and President Bola Tinubu come 2027.

Also speaking, the Delta State Commissioner for Works (Highways and Urban Roads), Comrade Reuben Izeze, underscored the resolve of Ughievwen and the entire Ughelli South to back Tinubu and Oborevwori.

He described the political alignment as a deliberate and strategic show of unity aimed at ensuring massive grassroots support. According to him, the impressive strides of both leaders Tinubu at the national level and Oborevwori at the state have earned them widespread acceptance beyond party lines.

He noted that the people of Ughelli South were united by a common goal: development, peace, and purposeful leadership. “This is not just about politics; it’s about the future of our people. The achievements of President Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori have inspired confidence across communities, and our support for their re-election in 2027 is both total and unwavering,” he stated.

In an interview with journalists, Dr. Oghenechovwen expressed deep appreciation for the confidence reposed in him. “That, very clearly, is a monumental decision, and it’s a responsibility that I hold very dear,” he said.

Looking ahead, he stated, “2027 is going to be easy for us because we will have a team that is united. We will rely on the forces from what we call the ancient and modern APC. We know the terrain; we have been here before and we know how it works. We are sure of 100% victory in all our elections.”

Dr. Oghenechovwen further emphasized the importance of unity, noting that recent meetings across various political structures in the area were geared toward harmonizing efforts and building a strong, cohesive political force.

“We have had a series of meetings. Most of the local boards have held theirs, and we’ve also had a central meeting at the local government level. Now we’re holding these sectional meetings. It’s all part of strengthening the whole system,” he explained.

He called on the people of Ughievwen to embrace unity and put the past behind them. “For a long time, we have been divided, working at cross-purposes. But the way it is now, we have come together. We encourage everyone to have an open mind and work decisively together to ensure success in all our elections for the presidency, the governorship, and every other position the party is contesting in 2027,” he said.

  • Tinubu suddenly appoints people from North due to coalition – ADC

Tinubu suddenly appoints people from North due to coalition – ADC

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has said that the sudden apointments by the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration is nothing more than a “political panic management” due to the coalition force.

In a statement signed by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC dismissed the appointments as “too little, too late,” adding that “you cannot marginalise a region for over twenty-five months and expect applause because you suddenly remembered on the twenty-sixth month that Nigeria is bigger than Lagos State.”

According to the ADC, these appointments are nothing more than “political panic management,” a frantic attempt to bandage the gaping wounds inflicted on Northern Nigeria by over a year of calculated neglect, presidential arrogance and unprecedented nepotism.

“For over a year, this government turned a blind eye as bandits terrorised villages in the north, as our farmers abandoned their land, and as rural economies crumbled under the weight of poorly thought-out fuel subsidy removal,” Abdullahi said.

“Now, under the rising heat of public discontent, and with the emergence of a formidable opposition coalition gaining traction in the North and across the country, President Tinubu suddenly remembers that there are Nigerians to appoint into positions outside his Lagos.

“Every major decision of this administration, from subsidy removal to a majority of the political appointments, have been taken without the North at the table. Now that the consequences of those decisions have become glaring, the President is doling out appointments as consolation prizes.

“But Northerners as co-owners of our great federal republic know better than to be deceived by these token appointments. They see through President Tinubu’s actions — and can sense that this is not genuine. Tokenism is not inclusion, and symbolism is not governance,” the ADC spokesperson said.

The ADC urged the Tinubu administration to abandon what it described as “Bourdillon-style appeasement politics,” and embrace real national inclusion through consultation, policy equity, and sincere federal character.

“You cannot patch a broken roof with press releases and photo-ops. And you certainly cannot restore the trust that you have lost with the public by pretending that titles are a substitute for genuine commitment to nation-building.”
