Dele Alli again axed for Tottenham Carabao Cup tie

Tottenham midfielder Dele Alli is out of tonight’s Carabao Cup tie with Chelsea.

Alli has only started one match, coming off at half-time against Everton, and has come on as a substitute just once, in the Europa League against Shkendija.

The Telegraph says despite manager Jose Mourinho insisting he will rotate his squad for the Carabao Cup, Alli has still not made it into his manager’s plans.

Despite the games coming thick and fast for Mourinho and his team, Alli has still not made it into the squad and a move away in the January window now appears even more likely.

One team credited with an interest in the 24-year-old is Paris Saint-Germain, but the French giants have been put off by the asking price, reports the Daily Mail.

Finally, Gareth Bale secures Real Madrid exit

Gareth Bale is back in familiar surroundings at Tottenham, with the Welshman seeing a loan return to north London bring a nightmare spell at Real Madrid to a close.

The 31-year-old left Spurs in the summer of 2013 as the most expensive player on the planet.

A dream start was made to life at Santiago Bernabeu, with a useful habit picked up of scoring in major finals.

Bale’s blistering pace and keen eye for goal endeared him to the Madridistas, with domestic and continental successes savoured in Spain.

He has been one of most successful British imports of all time, with two La Liga titles, four Champions League crowns and three Club World Cups collected with Real.

The Wales international has also passed a century of goals for the Blancos, hitting 105 in total, but found favour in short supply under Zinedine Zidane.

Just 20 appearances were taken in during the 2019-20 campaign, as transfer speculation raged and questions were asked of his commitment to Real – amid accusations of playing too much golf.

Bale is, however, now back in the Premier League and ready to rekindle a lost spark – with Spurs handing him their No.9 shirt.

Why Mourinho will not play Bale until October

Tottenham Hotspur’s medical team has confirmed Gareth Bale will be unavailable for selection for at least one month with an injury, Marca reports.

Bale arrived in London on Friday alongside Real Madrid team-mate Sergio Reguilon, who joins on a permanent deal, to finalise the deal.

The 31-year-old has been carrying an injury, but has been working in a gym at Valdebebas.

However, the Spurs medical team took a look at Bale’s injury and determined he will be out for as many as four weeks.

It appears that Tottenham knew this may be the case in advance, meaning the £20million loan transfer will still go through.

Bale arrives Tottenham ahead of completing transfer

Real Madrid attacker Gareth Bale has arrived at Tottenham Hotspur’s training ground as he nears a return to the club.

Wales international Bale, 31, is expected to rejoin Spurs on loan.

He flew into Luton Airport on Friday before travelling to the training ground in Enfield, North London.

Bale originally joined Spurs from Southampton in 2007 before moving to the Spanish giants for a then world record £85m in 2013.

He has gone on to score more than 100 goals for Real and won four Champions Leagues.

“Until I’m told Bale is a Tottenham player, I still think and feel and respect the fact he’s a Real Madrid player,” said Spurs boss Jose Mourinho.

It is also anticipated Real Madrid full-back Sergio Reguilon will complete his transfer to Tottenham on Friday. The 23-year-old Spain international played last season on loan at Sevilla, winning the Europa League.

Madrid pals warn Mourinho against Bale move, but…

Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho has been warned off signing Real Madrid outcast Gareth Bale.

Mourinho has been told by his former Real colleagues that Bale will struggle at Tottenham, reports ESPN.

The report claims that Mourinho, who was in charge of Real Madrid between 2010 and 2013, has been told in talks that the 31-year-old will find it hard to meet the demands of the English top flight.

However the Portuguese boss has given the green light for Bale’s return despite the concerns raised.

Bale has fallen out of favour under Real manager Zinedine Zidane and injury setbacks have impacted his fitness levels in recent seasons.

The Daily Mail says Real Madrid will pay more than half of Bale’s £500,000-per-week wages to facilitate the deal to Tottenham.

EPL: Mourinho reveals Alli’s reaction to being substituted

Jose Mourinho has revealed Dele Alli was ‘quiet and sad’ after being substituted at half-time in Tottenham’s opening Premier League game of the season against Everton amid reports of a bust-up with the midfielder.

Spurs started the new campaign on a sour note, losing 1-0 at home to Carlo Ancelotti’s side on Sunday in a disappointing performance.

England international Alli was hooked by Mourinho at the interval, with midfielder Moussa Sissoko brought on in his place.

“Dele was quiet, he was sad,” said Mourinho, regarding Alli’s reaction to being substituted against Everton amid reports he could head to Real Madrid as part of any agreement which would see Gareth Bale return to Spurs. “After the game, he was just one of many.

“He’s a good boy, very, very polite and I never saw from him a strong reaction. A good boy, a really good boy.”

  • Tottenhan in talks with Madrid to have Bale back

Tottenhan in talks with Madrid to have Bale back

Tottenham Hotspur are in talks with Real Madrid to have winger Gareth Bale back, his agent said on Tuesday, as the Wales international looks to end his troubled spell at the Spanish club.

Bale made over 200 appearances for English Premier League (EPL) clubside Spurs between 2007 and 2013.

He scored 56 goals with 58 assists, before his then world record move to Real Madrid for 100 million euros (118.46 million dollars).

The 31-year-old has scored over 100 goals for Real Madrid and won numerous trophies, including four UEFA Champions League titles.

But he was given limited playing time under Zinedine Zidane towards the end of last season’s La Liga triumph.

“Gareth still loves Spurs,” his agent Jonathan Barnett said on Tuesday. “We are talking (Spurs, Real Madrid and Bale’s camp). It’s where he wants to be.”

Bale endured his worst season at the Spanish club in 2019/2020 with only three goals in all competitions.

He admitted earlier this month that he would consider a return to the Premier League if Real Madrid allow him to end his stint in Spain.

The Welshman has a contract until 2022 and was set to make a lucrative move to the Chinese Super League last year before the transfer was scuttled.

That was when Real Madrid made a last-minute decision to insist on a transfer fee rather than terminate his contract.

Bale has divided opinion among the club’s fanbase, with some supporters frustrated by a perceived lack of commitment from the Welshman.

He did not feature in their final seven league matches as they pipped FC Barcelona to the Liga title while he watched on from the bench.

Spurs boss Jose Mourinho had said before their season-opening 1-0 defeat by Everton on Sunday that he wanted the club to sign a striker before the transfer window closes on Oct. 5.

Spurs, who finished sixth last season, signed midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and right-back Matt Doherty while goalkeeper Joe Hart was recruited as a free agent in the close season.

No time for Spurs to cry, Europa League awaits – Moura

Tottenham Hotspur’s Lucas Moura says they must quickly overcome the disappointment of Sunday’s 1-0 English Premier League (EPL) defeat by Everton.

The Brazilian forward said they must therefore show their quality against Lokomotiv Plovdiv in the UEFA Europa League this week.

Jose Mourinho’s side visit the Bulgarian Super Cup winners in Europe’s second-tier club competition on Thursday, with the winners of the one-off tie advancing to the third qualifying round.

“It’s only one game and if we lose, it’s bye-bye,” Moura told Spurs’ website.

“We need to go there with the right mentality, very strong in our minds and go there to qualify, because it’s a competition we want to win, and we have the quality to win.”

The Brazilian said the defeat by Everton had left his team mates feeling deflated.

“The players are upset because we know how important this game was,” he said. “The first game of the season and it’s so important to start well, to start with three points.

“We need to look forward now and try to do better.

“We don’t have time to cry. We have another important game … and we need to be ready.”

  • EPL: Mourinho slams ‘lazy’ Tottenham after slim defeat

EPL: Mourinho slams ‘lazy’ Tottenham after slim defeat

Jose Mourinho suffered his first ever defeat on Premier League opening weekend as Tottenham fell 1-0 to Everton in north London.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored with a fine second-half header from Lucas Digne’s free-kick to give Carlo Ancelotti’s side all three points.

James Rodriguez was impressive on debut for the Toffees, while fellow new signings Allan and Abdoulaye Doucoure also started the match.

Spurs were unable to breach Jordan Pickford’s goal despite managing five shots on target, and Mourinho was quick to criticise his players for being ‘lazy’ when speaking after the game.

“What happened after the goal with them having more chances is a consequence of conceding the goal and not such good fitness condition from some players,” Mourinho told BBC Sport.

“What happened before the goal was a good game. We had two incredible situations and two good saves from Jordan Pickford. We didn’t score. The game was open.

“In the second half one goal made a difference in the result and what happened after the goal.

“Against good teams like Everton if you let them play from the back they are comfortable with very good technical players. If you don’t press them you give them ammunition.

“We were lazy in our pressing. That is a consequence of bad fitness, bad pre-season. Some players didn’t even have a pre-season. Some players had a wrong state of mind. I don’t want to speak about it — I’m not sure about it.

“It was too easy for them to play from back to front.

“Technically it was not so easy because some players didn’t have a pre-season for different reasons. We had two days with everybody. Two days before the game is not where you can work too much.

“The goal shouldn’t be possible when you have six referees and VAR – to let a free-kick be taken five or six metres in front because it’s a huge difference.”

  • I wouldn’t sign Messi – Mourinho

    I wouldn’t sign Messi – Mourinho

Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho admits they had no chance of challenging for Barcelona captain Leo Messi before his decision to stay.

Manchester City were strongly linked with Messi and, having narrowly avoided punishment for Financial Fair Play in recent months, Mourinho saw the opportunity to take a dig at Pep Guardiola’s side.

“[Would I sign Messi] for my Top Eleven team? No, not for Tottenham. Just for Top Eleven,” Mourinho told Joe.co.uk in a promotional video for Top Eleven.

“We respect Financial Fair Play at Tottenham.

“He can only go to a team that doesn’t respect Financial Fair Play, so it’s not Tottenham, for sure.”
