  • Kane resumes training ahead of Real Madrid clash

Spurs striker, Harry Kane has returned to training ahead of Tottenham’s Champions League clash against Real Madrid on Wednesday.

Spurs are ahead of Real Madrid on goal difference at the top of Champions League Group H, both sides having won two and drawn one of their matches.

The England international missed Saturday’s loss to Manchester United with a hamstring injury he picked up during the 4-1 defeat of Liverpool at Wembley.

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino said over the weekend that he was optimistic the prolific 24-year would get the green light to face the Spanish giants.

Pochettino said, “With the doctors and the player, we will take the best decision for everyone,”

“We will assess him and then we will make the best decision.

“My feeling is good. But it’s not my feeling, it’s Harry Kane’s feeling.”

  • Pochettino admits Harry Kane in doubt for Man United game

Tottenham Hotspur manager, Mauricio Pochettino, revealed star striker Harry Kane is no certainty to face Manchester United on Saturday after missing the Carabao Cup midweek.

Kane, 24, sat out Tottenham’s shock 3-2 loss to West Ham on Wednesday, having spearheaded Spurs against Real Madrid and Liverpool.

“We’ll see, we’ll see,” Pochettino told beIN Sports when asked if Kane would face United after Spurs surrendered a 2-0 half-time lead against West Ham.

“We need to assess the team because we were forced to rotate for different reasons and we’ll see what happens in the next few days.”

Tottenham and United are level on 20 points after nine matches, five adrift of leaders Manchester City, though Jose Mourinho’s men are second on goal difference.

  • Marcos Alonso lifts Chelsea to victory over Tottenham

Marcos Alonso lifts Chelsea to victory over Tottenham – Though it came late, Chelsea team, led by Antonio Conte proved 0n Sunday that they still have all the qualities that took them to the Premier League title last season.

Their season has lift-off and, though it would be stretching the truth to say one result resolves all their issues, it still amounts to a hugely satisfying win, particularly bearing in mind they had finished the previous week’s encounter against Burnley looking in need of smelling salts.

Antonio Conte’s team have had to withstand an awful lot of scrutiny since capsizing against the team from Turf Moor.

“The aberration against Burnley feels almost freakish given the story of their follow-up game. Conte’s team were subjected to long spells of prolonged pressure after Marcos Alonso’s elegant free-kick gave them a first-half lead.

“They then suffered the misfortune of their substitute, Michy Batshuayi, providing Spurs with an 82nd-minute own goal and, at that stage, the supporters who had decamped to Wembley from White Hart Lane might have thought the momentum was with their team.

Chelsea had different ideas and Alonso’s second goal of the afternoon was a personal ordeal for Hugo Lloris in the Spurs goal, making it a demoralising start for Mauricio Pochettino’s team in their temporary home.” TheGuardian Uk reports.

  • Tottenham 4-0 West Brom : Kane’s hat-trick lift Spurs to second

Harry Kane scored a hat-trick as Tottenham Hotspur crushed West Bromwich Albion 4-0 on Saturday to climb to second place in the Premier League table.

Kane’s hat-trick, which took his season tally to 15 goals, capped an outstanding performance that ensured Mauricio Pochettino’s side maintained the standards set in last week’s defeat of leaders Chelsea.

The result was never in doubt from the moment Kane put Spurs ahead in the 12th minute, with a Gareth McAuley own goal doubling the score before two more Kane goals late in the second half completed the win.

Tottenham have now won six league games in a row, while Kane’s goals were the perfect way for the striker to mark the birth of his first child, daughter Ivy Jane, who arrived last weekend.

The only downside for Spurs manager Pochettino at White Hart Lane was the loss of Jan Vertonghen to a potentially serious ankle injury midway through the second half, the centre-back limping off in tears.

This performance was in marked contrast to the corresponding fixture last April, when a 1-1 draw heralded the beginning of the end of Spurs’ bid to pip eventual champions Leicester City to the title.

Nine months on, Pochettino’s side are on the rise and this display confirmed just how far they have come since their disappointing collapse at the end of last season.

  • Tottenham determined to stop Chelsea’s consecutive wins

Tottenham determined to stop Chelsea’s consecutive wins

Harry Kane and his Tottenham team-mates are determined to halt Chelsea’s winning streak.

Chelsea’s pursuit of history has made Tottenham doubly determined to defeat them today.

If Chelsea win at White Hart Lane, they will equal the Premier League record of 14 consecutive victories, established by Arsenal from February-August 2002.

Whereas the Gunners’ run spanned two seasons, all Chelsea’s wins have come in the current campaign.

Chelsea’s target adds spice to a derby that is becoming increasingly heated. Before last season’s meeting at Stamford Bridge, Tottenham were angry to hear Eden Hazard say Chelsea wanted Leicester to win the title ahead of Spurs.

That ill-feeling contributed to a stormy 2-2 draw in May, a result that handed Leicester the crown and ended with nine Tottenham players booked. Eight months later, Tottenham are desperate to reduce the 10-point gap to Chelsea, while denying them that 14th victory.

Pochettino has a plan to stop Chelsea’s 3-4-3 formation – Vertonghen
“We don’t want to be the team who lets them equal that record,” said Kane. “That is in our minds and we were talking about it in the changing room after the Watford game (which Spurs won 4-1 on Sunday), so we are fully focused.

“We are a better team than we were last season, 100 per cent. We have probably not played as well as we did last season, but we still have four more points than we did at the same stage. It shows we are on the right track.

“A lot of us are bigger, stronger, better and more experienced, so hopefully we can continue that form through the second half of the season.”
Tottenham expect to welcome back right-back Kyle Walker and centre-half Jan Vertonghen after both missed the win at Vicarage Road through suspension.

Mousa Dembele is also likely to be restored to the starting XI, while Heung-min Son and Moussa Sissoko are expected to compete for one place in attacking midfield.

Even though Spurs have won their last four matches, defeat to Chelsea would make it extremely difficult to keep alive their title ambitions. However well Mauricio Pochettino’s team play, a 13-point gap may prove too great for them.

  • Moonlight robbery: Mike Dean helps Spurs win

MIKE DEAN has drawn anger for his performance in Tottenham’s win at Southampton.

The Premier League referee has become a top trend after seemingly “helping” Mauricio Pochettino’s side to a 4-1 win at St Mary’s.

Mike Dean has drawn anger from rival fans after seemingly favouring Spurs.

Nathan Redmond was sent off as Tottenham won 4-1 at St Mary’s

Rival fans took to social media to blast the man in the middle after he sent off Nathan Redmond and handed Spurs a penalty – despite the foul taking place well outside the box.

Former Spurs and Liverpool midfielder Jamie Redknapp told Sky Sports: “He pulls him back a little bit then stumbles into him. I don’t see it as a penalty.

“It’s harsh. The contact is outside the box, although it is a difficult one. I think Mike Dean could have been more lenient. It’s extremely harsh.”

Kane would miss the penalty in hilarious fashion, but critics of Dean noticed his recent record in Spurs matches was lopsided.

He has taken charge of three Spurs games this season and the north London club have won all three.

Not only that, but Spurs’ opponents have had a man sent off in each match, while Tottenham were given a late penalty in the 3-2 win against West Ham.

Looking further into the past and Spurs have won six (drawing one) of the last seven matches that has had Dean in the middle – those games have seen five penalties awarded to Tottenham.

Spurs have won six of their last seven with Dean as the referee

Dean was also criticised for missing Jan Vertonghen’s eye gouge on Southampton striker Jay Rodriguez.

The 48-year-old sparked more anger when he shook hands with Mousa Dembele as the midfielder was subbed off.

  • BREAKING NEWS: Harry Kane signs Spurs extension until 2022

BREAKING NEWS: Harry Kane signs Spurs extension until 2022

The England international has committed his future to Mauricio Pochettino’s side by agreeing a new long-term deal and says he is confident the club is moving in the right direction

Tottenham striker Harry Kane has signed a new deal at the club that will keep him at White Hart Lane until 2022, the club have confirmed.

The England international is the club’s top scorer this season with six goals despite missing a large chunk of the campaign due to injury.

However, the 23-year-old returned to action in the north London derby against Arsenal and has now grabbed five goals in his last four games.

Kane had been linked with a move away from Spurs but now committed his future to the club with a new six-year deal.

“It’s amazing. Everyone knows how much I love this team and what I feel for this club,” he told the official Tottenham website.

“To sign another contract is a special feeling. We’ve got a great, young squad and the club is moving in the right direction.

“I still feel a young man, but I feel I’m at a stage in my life and career where it’s time to take that next step.

“Football is all about working harder every day to progress, to maintain my level and try to get better and better, to keep learning which I will from the gaffer and the players here.

“That’s all I’m focused on. I’d be very silly to forget that, that’s what’s got me where I am now and I think it’s even more important now to work even harder if I want to progress and maintain the level I’m at.”
