In her words:” WEDDING BELLS ARE RINGING?

I know that my Rebirth Fam @rebirthnetwork would be able to relate more with what I am about to share.

Gosh where do I start? My heart is racing…I still can’t believe it. I have prayed for it to happen for 17 years. At some point, I stopped praying about it because nothing changed, things only got worse.

My elder sisters called for a meeting, and between us, we wanted to reconcile my mum and dad but we didn’t tell them about it. I was so afraid. I wondered if they would come or if our plans to bring them back together would work. So, three days before the meeting, I started praying about it. I started imagining them together. I was just doing everything by faith.

On Sunday morning, I had cold feet. I was so afraid. “God, please do it this time”, was my prayer when I entered my late sister’s house for the meeting.

It was a VERY long process but yaaaaaaaay THEY MADE UP ??? They hugged each other and looked into each other’s eyes and started laughing. Then my mum started crying and my siblings and I joined in the tears of joy…

    I’m still in shock.

So fam, wedding bells are ringing ?? oh

THERE IS NOTHING GOD CAN NOT DO. DON’T STOP PRAYING. DON’T STOP BELIEVING. HE WILL DO IT IN HIS OWN TIME…

I join my faith with everyone whose parents are divorced or separated for whatever reason and I declare that the same God who answered my prayer after 17 years will do yours if you so desire “.

The “Jenifa’s Diary” star who has always been adored by fans for her stance on sexual purity, shocked them when she revealed in her book that she lost her virginity to her married music teacher when she was 17 years old.

  • ‘Toyo Baby’ laments over the downside of fame

Toyo Baby’ reveals the dark side of fame in new book

Actress turned author, Juliana Olayode, popular for her role as ‘Toyo Baby’ on Jenifa’s Diary, has revealed the downside of being in the public eye. The actress who was recently slammed for claiming she is a virgin, but later debunked it, said when she used to jump buses , people stop her on the road to take selfies with her.

She revealed that bike men who knew her, added more money to her fare because of her status. Toyo Baby shares the story in her book, titled The Rebirth.

    Read the excerpts below

“Up until months back, when I still used to jump buses, several people would stop

me on the road, or in buses to take selfies with them. Sometimes, I had to beg them to

wait until we were out of the bus to take the selfie. Conductors in buses expected me to

leave my change with them the moment passengers started chanting “Toyo Baby!”

Some passengers expected me to pay their bus fares. Some called family members

and asked me speak with them, saying, “I am in the same bus with Toyo Baby! Speak with

her. Some even dared to challenge me, saying, “Aunty Toyo, with all the money you’re

making, why are you not in your own car?”

“Bike men that knew me sometimes charged me more. I lost my bargaining power

with market women because they assumed I had a lot to spend. It got so frustrating at a

time, because I had no car and had to walk sometimes. I had to wear dark glasses and a

face cap everywhere I went. But even with that, they still recognised me. I hated leaving

the house. I honestly cannot remember any place I have been to in Nigeria that no one

    recognized me.

“There was a day I took a bike home and as we rode, the bike man said, “you are

Toyosi”. I replied and said I was not; I was Juliana. It was not a lie, but it was not the truth

either. The next time he picked me, he accused me of lying. I had to explain to him that

my real name was Juliana. He laughed at me and insisted I was Toyosi”.

  • Controversy trails Toyo Baby’s virginity claims

Juliana Olayode, better known as Toyo Baby in the TV series Jenifa Diaries, shocked many of her fans recently when she said she lost her virginity to her music teacher.

Olayode made the claim in her tell-it-all book titled Rebirth

According to her: “The day finally came. He wanted to move the date because he was expecting some money that he wanted to use to pay for a good hotel. But moving it would mean my mum back from church. We went back into the room, and it happened. It was a painful experience for me. I cried at different points and he kept apologizing, begging me to keep my voice down lest they think he was raping me. He told me to relax and bear the pain.

“In his words, “do not be a weak woman”. That got at me because I hated feeling or being treated as weak. I asked for a break. He tutored me some more and tried again until he finally got through. It was not anything like he had told me it would be”.

Toyo Baby in diverse interviews had claimed she was a virgin and living sexually pure. However, some of her teeming fans were disappointed when they read about how she lost her virginity in her new book.

One of them who simply identified himself as Eden Faces wrote: “What brought about the issue of virginity in the first place? She could have just campaigned for sexual purity and abstinence. Besides, the fact that she’s been penetrated doesn’t matter if she’s stopped. She could be said to be a ‘secondary virgin’ but is the book all about her losing her virginity alone? ‘Cos I’m not moved to read it”

Another of her fan in reacting to the claim also said:”Dating married music teacher at 17 years old, I get the point but why are you trying to be popular by force: who your virginity help”?

However, bowing to the intense pressure and shock that greeted her new revealations, the actress has come out to state why she lied about being a virgin.

“People had assumed I was a virgin. I had never said I was. But I never corrected their assumptions either. So, I was still in that fix. Shortly after my confession, Ebony Life TV called me for an interview. I went and for the first time in my several interviews, I was asked point blank if I was a virgin. I tried to evade the question, but my interviewer was not having it.

“She demanded for a yes or no. I did not see the question coming and I lied. I said, “Yes, I am a virgin.” Immediately the interview was over, I hurried to the bathroom in the studio and cried. I felt terrible for lying and told God I was sorry.”

Toyo Baby said because she was ashamed to admit lying in various interviews, she decided to continue with the lie.

“I felt it was my secret and the whole world needs not know
about it. I was upset with myself, however, for answering her. I could have insisted I
could not tell. So, I proposed never to answer such again. Easier said than done, right? Shortly after, I was on another TV interview: Crux Of The Matter, with Elsie.

“I was invited to talk for sexual purity while the other guest spoke against. In the process of the discussion, around the time when it was heated, I was asked out of the blues again if I was a virgin. And before I knew it, I heard myself lying again. I was mad at myself.

“I was on another TV interview that trended for a while. It was On The Couch, with Lady Ariyike. I talked about sexual purity, but thankfully I was not asked if I was a virgin. After that one, I decided to stop interviews altogether. I was tired of lying or having to dread lying if I was asked straight up.”

The sexual purity advocate whose stance on premarital sex is unshaken once said in an interview:” Sex is good, don’t get me wrong, I mean God created it and everything He made is good and beautiful but sex before marriage is what makes it bad and wrong and sex with anyone else apart from your husband or wife in marriage is bad as well”.

  • How ‘Bad pay’ made Toyo Baby quit Jenifa’s Diary

It is no longer news that Funke Akindele and Juliana Olayode who plays Toyo Baby on Jenifa’s Diary have gone their separate ways. According to TNS, Toyo Baby was cut off from the popular TV series for requesting an increase in pay which didn’t go well with Funke Akindele who feels she rode on the platform to become popular.

Sources revealed that Funke Akindele via her production manager and younger sister – Abimbola – pays actors between N3,000 and N150,000 (per episode/season of the show) depending on the role.

An actress who spoke under conditions of anonymity said Funke Akindele pays her actors miserable amounts of money. She said she was paid ‘Peanuts’ after being part of an all-night party scene on Jenifa’s Diary.

In her words:”I got a text message from Sceneone Productions that I had been selected to act on Jenifa’s Diary and I will be part of a party scene. I was so excited that I told my entire family about it. Mind you, it wasn’t my 1st time acting but d feeling of being on Jenifa’s diary was a big deal for me. I was asked to come with 5 different party costumes. Location was Amen Estate, Eleko. After filming with over 30 girls the whole night, Funke came to address us and advice that money shouldn’t be our priorities at this stage; that was when it occurred to me that something awkward was about to happen….just then, the Production Manager, Mr Osmond whispered something to Funke’s sister, Abimbola & she started paying us each 3K. Can u imagine?, 3K for all night shoot!…on Jenifa’S dIARY!… I was so mad, some of us had to turn down the money shaa….couldn’t face my mom to explain to her wat happened the next morning”.

TNS reports that actors like Lota Chukwu, Omotunde Lolo 1, Falz D Bahd Guy (who has also left the show) and Olayode are the highest paid actors who take home 150k per season. The rest take home much lesser money. Celebs like Tiwa Savage, Toke Makinwa and others who have had cameo appearances on the show reportedly got between 100k and 300k for ‘showing face’.

Toyo Baby hasn’t been associating with Funke Akindele and there are reports that the duo have unfollowed each other on Instagram.
