Chelsea forward Timo Werner has been mocked over the Stamford Bridge PA system today.

Chelsea treated a small number of fans to an open training session ahead of their trip across London to play Arsenal in the Premier League on Sunday.

New £98million signing Romelu Lukaku was in attendance while Cesar Azpilicueta and Co paraded their Champions League and European Super Cup trophies on the pitch before getting down to business.

But things turned sour in the stands when some of the fans in attendance were given the chance to offer up a score prediction for Sunday’s match at the Emirates across the PA system at Stamford Bridge, reports the Daily Mail.

In a video posted on Twitter, the host of the event can be heard asking one fan who you can struggle to make out near the front of the stand.

The fan replied: ‘Let’s have it right…. get Werner out of the club’.

The withering comment produced a stunned reaction from those other Chelsea fans sat near him in the stand.

One supporter was particularly irate and shouted: ‘No, you get out’ to the fan before asking ‘who are you? who do you think you are?’

Reports suggest the criticism continued towards the fan before he was chased out of Stamford Bridge.

#EndSARS: Training of new police unit begins next week – IGP

Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, has assured the training of a new police unit to take over from the disbanded Special Anti -Robbery Squad (SARS) will commence next week.

Adamu spoke when popular musician, David Adeleke aka Davido, visited him in office on Monday over the ongoing #ENDSARS protests.

He said with SARS being disbanded, there was need to get a new structure to carry out the duties the defunct police unit was carrying out, which is fighting violent crimes.

He said the new outfit would be intelligence -driven, properly trained and only act on special occasions that require their attention.

He said the unit would be made up of fresh personnel with a fresh orientation and not officers from the scrapped unit.

He said opportunities would be created for members of the public to participate in and make inputs to the formation of the new unit.

Adamu said this was the first time they have decisively taken to dissolve SARS and called for calm as they continue to resolve all the issues.

He said Davido‘s visit to talk about the issue is the best way to deal with the current problem. .

He said in the formation of the new unit corrections would be taken from the experience of SARS.

“We just disbanded yesterday so protesters should calm down and give us time to fix the problem. The general public will be part of the process of getting a new outfit.

“I’m talking to you so I will keep talking to many others and get civil societies involved and get their input towards the new unit,” he said.

The IGP promised to investigate all cases of brutality and bring perpetrators to book.

He said the issue of compensation to the families of those affected by SARS’ would be addressed when investigations are concluded.

“We want justice to be done and justice will be done,” he said.

He said officers of the disbanded would be retrained and given other responsibilities in the Force, but will not be reabsorbed into the new unit.

“We admit the trust gap is wide but we will work to bridge that gap,” he said.

Davido urged every officer part of SARS be relieved of their duties.

  • Messi fails to show up for Barca’s first pre-season training

Messi fails to show up for Barca’s first pre-season training

Unhappy Lionel Messi missed FC Barcelona’s first training session of the new season on Monday.

This has come days after his shock announcement that he wants to leave the only club he has played for professionally.

Messi’s failure to show up for the session, the first under new FC Barcelona coach Ronald Koeman, was widely expected.

The 33-year-old Argentine also failed to show up for a pre-season medical on Sunday.

Reuters television footage showed players arriving for the session which began at 1730 local time (1530 GMT) and Messi did not appear.

The six-times world player of the year insists he has a clause in his contract that allows him to leave on a free transfer.

This is a claim disputed by FC Barcelona and La Liga.

Messi’s lawyers plan to invoke a clause in his four-year contract, signed in 2017, which would have allowed the forward to leave the club for free if he had requested it by June 10.

They will argue that that date — nominally the end of the season — is now irrelevant after the coronavirus pandemic forced an extension of the La Liga season deep into August.

However, La Liga said on Sunday that the only way a club can sign the Argentine forward is if he triggers a release clause of 700 million euros (836 million dollars).

Messi’s decision came after FC Barcelona failed to win any silverware last season, which finished with a humiliating 8-2 defeat to Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals.

Supporters who waited outside the training ground on Monday were split over Messi’s decision.

“I really want Messi to stay,” Brazilian Fabio Alfredo Suarez told Reuters. “Messi lives in my heart — it’s a pity that he leaves, I wanted him to leave through the front door of the club.”

Spaniard Ivan Antolin Beltran remembered that Barca had helped Messi through the earlier stages of his career.

“After all that Barca has given to Messi throughout his career, which started here as a child… they paid him for all his medicines and everything … I think his way of behaving is a bit incorrect,” he said.

  • La Liga clubs commence full training from Monday

Clubs in Spain’s top two soccer divisions can hold full training sessions from Monday for the first time since returning to activity after action was halted in March due to the coronavirus pandemic, organisers La Liga have said.

“Clubs will begin collective training on June 1 after the government’s latest health order on the easing of restrictions,” La Liga said in a statement on Saturday.

Teams returned to individual training at the start of May before progressing to training in groups of up 10 players two weeks later, and groups of 14 players from last Monday.

The top flight will resume on June 11 without fans attending, with Sevilla taking on Real Betis, and with matches potentially to be played every day of the week until the season is concluded on July 19.

All organised football in Spain was provisionally suspended on March 12 as the virus ravaged the country, but the rate of infection has slowed significantly.

Thirty-nine people died in the last week compared with a daily death toll in the hundreds a month ago, the health ministry said on Friday.
