The Nigerian Air Force says its Air Task Force (ATF) of Operation Lafiya Dole has destroyed a Boko Haram Terrorist (BHT) Training Camp in Malkonory, and also destroyed a BHT vehicle near Tumbun Rego in Northern Borno.
Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola, NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, who disclosed this in a statement on Thursday in Abuja, said the operation was carried on Oct.11.
”The attack on the Training Camp was undertaken Oct.11, on the heels of credible intelligence reports indicating that several structures, cleverly camouflaged under thick vegetation in the settlement, were being used to harbour and train BHT fighters,” he said.
Daramola said that a NAF Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) platform subsequently confirmed features such as training dummies and trenches along with a large number of adult males within the camp.
”Consequently, the ATF detailed NAF Alpha Jet aircraft to attack the camp in successive strikes resulting in the destruction of many of the structures, which were seen to be engulfed in flames, as well as the neutralisation of several BHTs,” he said.
The NAF spokesman said that the few surviving BHTs were mopped-up in subsequent follow-on attacks.
”Similarly, following Intelligence reports indicating the presence of BHT vehicles on the move around Matari Village along the Metele-Kangarawa-Tumbun Rego axis on Oct.9.
”A NAF ISR platform was detailed to reconnoitre the area and subsequently spotted one of the BHT vehicles, a gun truck, along the road heading towards Tumbun Rego.
”Accordingly, an Alpha Jet aircraft was scrambled to attack the vehicle, with direct hits recorded on the target, leading to the destruction of the gun truck,” he said.
The spokesman said that the NAF, working in concert with surface forces, would sustain the momentum of operations with a view to destroying remnants of the BHTs on the fringes of Lake Chad and other areas in Northern Borno.

SARS personnel to undergo new training programme – Force PRO
Personnel of the police Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) are to undergo a new training programme, according to the Force Public Relations Officer, Mr Jimoh Moshood.
Moshood said in a statement on Monday that the training was part of the reorganisation of SARS earlier directed by the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr Ibrahim Idris.
The directive, according to him, is aimed at repositioning the squad for “more efficiency and effective service delivery to all Nigerians” in in accordance with the rule of law and international best practices.
Moshood explained that the training would be organised by the Force in collaboration with some civil society organisations, local and international NGOs and other human rights organisations.
The NewsGuru reports that the move followed the ongoing social media campaign by Nigerians for the proscription of SARS over allegations of human rights abuses across the country.
Through the campaign, which started on Saturday with the hashtag #EndSARS, many Nigerians have accused personnel of the squad of extra-judicial killings and other forms of abuses.
However, Moshood said SARS had been “doing very well in fighting violent crimes such as armed robbery, kidnappings and cattle rustling in the country in recent times”.
He noted that this had seen a drastic reduction in incidents of the mentioned violent crimes nationwide.
“However, the IGP has directed the immediate reorganisation of SARS nationwide and instant investigation into all the allegations, complaints and infractions levelled against its personnel.
“In the new arrangement, a Commissioner of Police is now the overall head of the Federal Anti-Robbery Squad nationwide under the Department of Operations, Force Headquarters. Abuja.
“The police zonal commands, state commands and divisions will continue to operate anti-crime units/sections, crime prevention and control squads and teams imperative to prevent and detect crime in their area of responsibilities.
“They are also to maintain other crack squads necessary to sustain law and order and protection of lives and property in their Area of responsibilities (AOR).
“The Federal Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS) will now exist and operate in the state and zonal commands under the Commissioner of Police (F-SARS) at the Force Headquarters,” he said.
Moshood added that a federal SARS Commander of the rank of Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) and not below Superintendent of Police (SP) would be in charge of F-SARS in state and zonal commands across the country.
According to him, all commissioners of police have been directed by the IGP to comply with the directive with immediate effect, and warn their personnel not to pose as SARS operatives.
He added that IGP X-Squad had been mandated to go round the commands and police formations nationwide to ensure strict compliance and apprehend any erring police officer.
The Force PRO urged aggrieved members of the public with complaints against SARS personnel to report through any of the following channels for investigation and further actions:

Journalism Clinic gets Airtel sponsorship to train journalists
All is set for another digital journalism training sponsored by Airtel Nigeria under the aegis of The Journalism Clinic and facilitated by the widely-travelled digital journalism trainer, Dan Mason.
Although 100 journalists will be trained this year, as was the case in 2015, this time around, data journalism will be added to the previous multimedia storytelling.
According to Founder/Director of The Journalism Clinic, Taiwo Obe: “We decided that it would be more beneficial to add data journalism training to the curriculum this time as it has become important for journalists to be able to apply digital tools to break down the increasing deluge of data particularly from governments.”
The plan, he added, is to train 50 multimedia storytellers and 50 data journalists in two locations – Lagos and Kaduna.
“We are delighted to be sponsoring this training, for the second time, because we strongly believe that the more equipped our journalists are, the better for our society,” stated the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Airtel Nigeria Mr Segun Ogunsanya, on the company’s rationale for the sponsorship.
Exact dates and locations as well as enrolment criteria will be announced shortly.

VIO officials undergoing training, not totally banned – LASG clarifies
The Lagos State Government on Tuesday clarified that the ban of operations of the Vehicle Inspection Officers, VIOs, is temporal.
Commissioner for Transportation, Prince Olanrewaju Elegushi, stated that the VIOs only went for training to improve their services in line with global best practices.
In his words: “Nobody is banning VIOs from the roads; there is no directive to that effect from the governor of Lagos State.
“Right now, the VIO officials in the state are undergoing training on how they will improve their services on Lagos roads.
“It ‘s a month-long event for the officials where they will undergo intensive training so that they will be able to deliver quality and better service across the state.
“We all believe that VIOs need to perform their functions in a more civilised way and be technologically driven”.
Steve Ayorinde, the state Commissioner for Information and Strategy, explained that LASG’s order to the VIOs to vacate the roads was to pave way for its reforms.
“There is an ongoing reform as to how the VIO carries out its operations, which might require that the inspection officers are off the streets at this point.
“The government is keen to have their operations more streamlined and technologically-driven to serve the people of Lagos better,” Ayorinde said.

Constellation sets Q1 Date for NLP licensed practitioner’s program in Nigeria
Constellation (INL), an international consulting and coaching company has concluded arrangements for a nine day long NLP Licensed practitioner Training in Nigeria.
It promises to be a landmark event in management executive training for corporate Nigeria.
The coaching programme which holds from March 2017 will see Constellation imparting knowledge from its flagship training course outline, the Neuro-Linguistic Programming Licensed Practitioner International Certification program. Geared towards imbibing a culture of coaching, people enhancement, communication, and change management skills in leaders of organizations, the programme is expected to benefit major top executives and senior H.R. Practitioners in corporate Nigeria and West Africa.
This programme is in line with the global shift from classroom based training to other forms of experiential learning such as coaching.
The NLP certification is targeted at helping leaders deviate from the traditional ‘carrot and stick’ and ‘threaten and train’ approach which causes several forms of negative results such as early burnout, low commitment, poor performance, among others.
Fit for this program are a wide array of persons in leadership positions such as Board Executives, Sales teams, Influencers, H.R Practitioners, Experienced Trainers, Teachers et al.
What is this NLP? The concept as conceived by NLP co- creators will be explained and practiced in a simple way that imparts deep and permanent understanding in a purposefully active learning environment.
NLP is the most practical, results-driven method there is for detecting, understanding and controlling our conscious and unconscious thinking. Constellation Group will show participants how to harness the power of NLP and apply it to yourself and others – individually, in business and as a coach at our NLP Practitioner Training.
What makes the difference between coaching, mentoring, counseling and psychotherapy? Who needs a coach? How can one begin to coach others almost immediately? These and many more, the program will shed more light on.
Attitudinal imbalances such as limiting beliefs, phobias, depression, fear of failure, burnout, and lack of motivation, which now pervade the corporate world, will be dissected and dismantled during the sessions.
Structuring mutually satisfactory relationships with a company’s best people and nurturing employees’ development in sync with organizational goals will form one issue to be focused on. Though a lot of strides have unarguably been made in several components of business disciplines, a full grasp of understanding subjective human behavior which are not readily identified even by feedback and assessment mechanisms have not yet been attained. The coaching will also explore this area.
Constellation’s cutting edge specialty is in coaching Top and Mid-level Managers. It endeavors to acknowledge and honor the individuality of the coachee in a customized manner. The company’s philosophy is based on the premise that there is the brilliance of a star in each person. So when the Constellation team collaborates with your own corporate team, its from the perspective of a collaboration of stars. Constellation Executive Coaching is way distinct from other forms of Coaching such as Life Planning, Career Counseling, health advice, public speaking etc. Rather, what it does is to serve as an outsourced supplier of candor, providing executives with objective, sword-sharp feedback needed to catalyze their growth.
Entrenched within the core of the program are diverse cognitive skills among which are; Understanding Language, Communication and behavior; Rapport skills and pattern detection; developing perceptual positions; Assessing nonverbal cues; understanding personal congruency and the unconscious mind; NLP language models; Phobia resolution; Management of high performance states, to mention a few.
A crown in the icing of the program is its international standardized nature. As the certificates to be disbursed from the program are signed by the Nigeria n Lead Coach, Mrs. Joké Coker (J.C.) and Co-creator of NPL worldwide, Dr. Richard Bandler.
Leading the Constellation (Formerly INL) is Oyejoke Coker (J.C.), a highly accomplished global executive with more than 25 years of success within financial services, telecommunications, banking and now coaching. She leverages extensive corporate leadership, both domestically and internationally. She is a much sought-after Coach, Speaker and Trainer. She serves on various corporate and philanthropic boards.
She brings a unique combination of corporate experience into the Executive Coaching; Team Coaching; Life Coaching and Business Coaching arena.
As a widely recognized thought leader, J.C. is a frequent keynote speaker on a range of topics including NLP, Coaching, Motivation, Team building and emerging markets. She is a guest lecturer at the Lagos Business School where she analyzes business strategy case studies with MBA students.
Continuous and never ending improvements would serve as a key tool for the progress of all functions and involve all employees from the CEO to the assembly line workers. It is only through such acquisition and sharpening of such required skills on a regular basis that corporate entities can build their workforce and prepare them for the challenges of a dynamic global economic environment.
Compaines, particularly, the multinationals that understand the need for such regular upgrading of executives’ toolkit can now save scarce foreign exchange by taking advantage of these global standard opportunities now made available in Nigeria.
According to the Lead coach, Mrs. Joké Coker, in a recent chat with journalists “We believe in human excellence and the capacity to overcome challenges. As a leader, it’s not what happens to you that matters (in work, life or play), its your chosen response that determines the quality of the outcomes you achieve!’ Great International speakers such as Tony Robbins have been trained Mr Bandler who co- signs the Constellation NLP Practitioner’s certificate which will be available in Nigeria in Q1, 2017.
Coker further identified that Constellation Coaching Group also has programs available for aspiring or existing coaches who seek to develop an expertise in the field or raise their game to a higher level. Such persons would be coached on how to open an entrepreneurial NLP practice, acquire membership of the NLP society and get a globally accredited practitioner license.

Abe expresses reservation over training of INEC officials in Abia
…Calls for transparency on conduct of December 10 Re-run Elections
Senator Magnus Ngei Abe, All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Rivers South East Senatorial District in the legislative re-run elections, has expressed reservation on the activities of the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) in Rivers State to conduct a free and fair election.
Speaking at a press briefing in Port Harcourt, Abe said that INEC had been conducting its activities to the knowledge of Governor Nyesom Wike and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
He revealed that Collation and Returning Officers were being trained at an obscure hotel in Umuahia, Abia State.
“We are becoming very concerned about the activities and linkages that we are seeing between the PDP and the INEC. We just received a report this evening that the INEC Collation and returning officers were being trained at the Dangreet Hotel in Umuahia in Abia state and from our knowledge of the operations of INEC, no training of officers has ever been conducted in any obscure hotel in this country.
Training of officers is always done in the universities where the officers are being picked from and from that university they are taken straight to the state where they are to do their job. But to hear now that collation and returning officers were being trained at the Dangreet Hotel, Umuahia in the presence of PDP agents when our own agents were not informed or aware of it. It certainly calls for concern and we believe that in this exercise INEC should not only be fair but be seen by all Nigerians to be fair.
We are very concerned because of the relationship that exists between some of the key actors in this whole thing and some of the key players in the INEC structure. We think that all Nigerians must be vigilant as far as this Rivers re-run election is concerned and that all the parties should be evenly and fairly treated”.
Abe said that another case in point was the December 10 election date, which INEC discussed with Gov. Wike, who he stated was an interested party, adding that it was the governor who announced the date as December 10 for the re-run elections before INEC did.
“I have had cause to tell Nigerians that this date December 10 was fixed at a meeting between Gov. Wike and INEC to which we were not privy, involved and consulted. The first person that made the date 10th of December public to the Nigerian people was Gov. Nyesom Wike, when he announced that now INEC had said that this election will hold on the 10th and we will see how that will work”.
