EPL: Ten Hag ready to see ‘big six’ leave Man Utd

Premier League side Manchester United could be set for a major overhaul at the end of this season.

Manager Erik ten Hag is determined to reshape the squad in his image, as he started to do last summer.

The Dutchman was furious with his team for their meek capitulation against Newcastle United in a 2-0 Premier League loss at the weekend.

Per the Manchester Evening News, Jadon Sancho is among those who could be moved on in the summer.

Ten Hag is growing impatient with Sancho, who has not produced despite getting ample chances this season.

The source adds that fringe players such as Phil Jones, Harry Maguire, Axel Tuanzebe, Erik Bailly, and Scott McTominay may all leave as well.

Jude Bellingham makes final Chelsea decision

Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham has been put off signing for London club Chelsea.

Per Christian Falk on CaughtOffisde, the 19-year-old is not willing to join the Stamford Bridge club.

Bellingham is concerned about the sheer number of players the Blues are buying.

He does not believe there is a concrete plan in place to get the best out of new signings.

He is thought to see Liverpool as his ideal destination, while the two Manchester clubs may also come into his thinking.

There is also the possibility he chooses Real Madrid and does not return to the Premier League.

  • Arsenal sign midfielder Jorginho from Chelsea

Arsenal sign midfielder Jorginho from Chelsea

Premier League leaders Arsenal have signed experienced Italian midfielder Jorginho from London rivals Chelsea on an 18-month contract, the club said on Tuesday.

Financial details of the transfer were not disclosed but British media reported the deal was worth 12 million pounds ($14.78 million).

“Jorginho is a midfield player with intelligence, deep leadership skills and a huge amount of Premier League and international experience,” Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta told the club’s website.

“Jorginho has won in his career but he still has the hunger and huge willingness to contribute here. We are so pleased to sign Jorginho and welcome him and his family to the club.”

Arsenal, who are five points clear of champions Manchester City in the title race, needed midfield reinforcements especially with Mohamed Elneny ruled out with a knee injury which the club said required surgery that will keep him sidelined for “an extended period of time”.

Brazilian-born Jorginho will provide Arsenal with significant experience in their title charge, having won the Champions League with Chelsea and the 2020 European Championship with Italy.

The 31-year-old has been a key player for Chelsea this season, featuring 25 times in all competitions.

Jorginho also won the Europa League, three FA Cups and two League Cups in more than 200 appearances for Chelsea since joining them in July 2018 from Serie A side Napoli.

He spent 4-1/2 years at Napoli and enjoyed a breakthrough 2017-18 season, where he was integral to their title challenge as they finished second.

Arsenal made a late bid for Jorginho after they reportedly had two offers for Ecuador midfielder Moises Caicedo rejected by Brighton & Hove Albion.

Arsenal return to league action on Saturday against 19th-placed Everton, who appointed Sean Dyche as manager on Monday in a bid to secure their top-flight survival.

Transfer: Arsenal make late move for Jorginho

Arsenal are making a deadline-day move for Chelsea midfielder Jorginho.

Gunners manager Mikel Arteta is on the search for a midfielder with Brighton so far refusing to sell number one target Moises Caicedo.

Arsenal could sign Jorginho as an alternative and are looking to take advantage of the fact he is out of contract in the summer.

Sky Deutschland are reporting that the Italian international is ‘close’ to moving across London in a move that would raise some eyebrows.

The move has come about because fellow Blues midfielder Conor Gallagher is believed to have rejected a move to Everton.

Chelsea could look to cash in on Jorginho now but that could depend on the success of their move for Benfica star Enzo Fernandez

Arsenal have made a new offer for Brighton’s wantaway midfielder Moises Caicedo.

The Gunners have submitted a new bid for Caicedo worth £70million.

The Gunners saw a £60m bid for the Ecuadorian turned down on Friday morning, with the Seagulls said to be demanding £75m. Caicedo did not turn up to training on Saturday before missing the FA Cup victory over Liverpool on Sunday afternoon as speculation surrounding his future intensifies in the final days of the window.

After Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi admitted that the club are “ready to go forward” without the talented midfielder, news of an improved offer from the Gunners emerged on Sunday evening.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano posted on Twitter: “EXCLUSIVE: Arsenal submitted new bid for Moises Caicedo. Understand it’s worth £70 package add-ons included.

  • Carlo Ancelotti fires Camavinga message to Arsenal

Carlo Ancelotti fires Camavinga message to Arsenal

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has warned Arsenal off Eduardo Camavinga.

The Gunners were said to be keen on loaning Camavinga this January but it is an option that Real Madrid do not even remotely contemplate.

His great performance in the Copa del Rey match against Villarreal gave a reminder to those who began to doubt him.

The Italian spoke about the youngster in a press conference, comparing him to the club’s two midfield greats.

“He is untouchable, like (Toni) Kroos and (Luka) Modric,” said Ancelotti in the press room.

  • Serie A: Juventus deducted 15 points for transfer deals

Serie A: Juventus deducted 15 points for transfer deals

Juventus have been deducted 15 points for the current season by an Italian football court investigating their transfer dealings, leaving the country’s most successful team standing mid-table in Serie A.

The ruling, which also deals a blow to the club’s reputation, is tougher than a nine-point deduction a football prosecutor had requested earlier on Friday during a hearing.

The hearing was looking at the way Juventus and a number of other teams dealt with player exchange deals.

With 20 games left to play this season, Juve were third in Serie A with 37 points, 10 behind leaders Napoli.

The deduction pushes them down into 10th place, outside the qualifying spots for lucrative European competition.

In a late night statement, the court also imposed bans from holding office in Italian football on 11 past and present Juventus directors.

These included 24 months for Andrea Agnelli, who was replaced this week as chairman after formally stepping down in November.

Former sports director, Fabio Paratici, now managing director of football at England’s Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur, was also handed 30 months.

Juventus said it would appeal to the country’s Sport Guarantee Board once the reasons for the ruling were published.

“We consider this to be a blatant injustice also for millions of fans, which we trust will soon be remedied in the next court,” lawyers for the club said in a statement.

Juventus have denied wrongdoing and said their accounting was in line with industry standards.

The club is controlled by the Agnelli family’s Exor holding company and its shares are listed on the Milan stock exchange.

The ruling reversed a previous decision in April to clear Juventus, 10 other clubs and their executives of wrongdoing.

Football authorities had reopened the case and requested the partial cancellation of the initial decision.

This was to enable them assess new documents collected by public prosecutors in the city of Turin who are investigating the finances of Juventus.

The court confirmed the acquittal of eight other football clubs, including Serie A’s Sampdoria and Empoli, and their directors, for whom prosecutors had also wanted to reopen the case.

Public prosecutors in Turin have requested Andrea Agnelli, 11 other people and the club itself to stand trial over allegations of false accounting.

Juventus shareholders earlier this week appointed a new slimmed-down five-member board, with Gianluca Ferrero appointed to replace Andrea Agnelli as chairman after over 10 years.

Ferrero is an accountant close to John Elkann, the senior business figure in the family that has owned the club for a century.

Forest are now edging closer to the signing of Brazilian youngster Danilo and have reached an agreement with Palmeiras on a £17.8 million deal, says Foot Mercato.

The 21-year-old midfielder had already reached an agreement on personal terms with the Tricky Trees and he is expected in England over the coming days to complete a medical.

Danilo is hailed as one of the finest young players in Brazil and he was wanted by Arsenal in the summer.

The midfielder was called up to the Brazil squad last year.

  • Transfer: Chelsea sign Joao Felix from La Liga club

Transfer: Chelsea sign Joao Felix from La Liga club

Chelsea have signed Portugal forward Joao Felix from La Liga side Atletico Madrid on a loan deal until the end of the season, both clubs said on Wednesday.

British media reported that Chelsea would pay around 10 million euros (10.75 million dollars) for Felix.

The 23-year-old has struggled for consistency this season and started seven of Atletico Madrid’s 16 league games. He has five goals and three assists in 20 games in all competitions.

Felix scored once in five FIFA World Cup appearances as Portugal exited at the quarter-final stage in Qatar in December.

He started in Atletico Madrid’s 0-1 home loss to LaLiga leaders FC Barcelona on Sunday and was substituted after 73 minutes.

“Chelsea is one of the great teams in the world and I hope to help the team reach their objectives.

”So, I am very, very happy to be here and very excited to play at Stamford Bridge,” Felix said in a statement released by the English clubside.

Felix became the fourth most expensive player of all time when he joined Atletico Madrid for 126 million euros from Benfica in 2019 as a teenager.

A versatile forward, Felix can play as a striker, attacking midfielder or on the flanks.

But he has struggled to live up to his price tag since moving to Spain.

He has scored 34 goals in 131 appearances for Atletico Madrid and won the 2020/2021 league title.

Chelsea have already been active in the January transfer window, bringing in Benoit Badiashile, David Fofana and Andrey Santos .

Felix will further bolster their injury-hit squad as well as strengthen their options in attack, with Raheem Sterling, Christian Pulisic and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang all sidelined.

Graham Potter’s side have scored only 20 goals in 17 Premier League games so far and sit 10th, 10 points off the top four.

Chelsea have lost five of their last seven games in all competitions and have been knocked out of the FA Cup and League Cup.

They return to action at Fulham in the league on Thursday.
