Benfica coach slams Chelsea on Fernandez transfer move

Benfica coach Roger Schmidt has slammed Chelsea over their pursuit of Enzo Fernandez.

Chelsea and Benfica are haggling over a fee for the Argentine.

Schmidt says the delays are sending 21-year-old Fernandez “crazy” as the player looks for clarity over his future.

“There is a club who want our player,” said Schmidt. “They know we don’t want to sell the player. They try to get the player on their side, and they know they can only [buy] the player by paying the release clause, so it’s a very clear situation.

“What the club is doing is disrespectful against all of us [at] Benfica, and I cannot accept what they are doing.

“To make the player crazy and then pretend they can pay the clause and then want to [in the last money] negotiate, is not what I understand to be a good relationship between clubs who which to discuss [a transfer].”

  • Real Madrid plan to sign Kylian Mbappe for €1bn

Real Madrid plan to sign Kylian Mbappe for €1bn

La Liga giants Real Madrid spy a new chance to prise Kylian Mbappe away from Ligue side Paris Saint-Germain.

Real president Florentino Perez was already counting on his arrival ahead of the 2022/23 season, but at the last minute the player rejected the proposal and stayed in France.

This left a bad feeling in the Spanish capital, and it seemed that the possibility of seeing Mbappe in white was completely gone.

However, Real Madrid may have already forgiven Mbappe, as La Gazzetta dello Sport are reporting that the Spanish side have one billion euros ready to sign the French star in the summer of 2023.

It is being claimed that Real Madrid would pay 150m euros for the transfer, 630m euros in salary and 220m euros in commissions.

Nothing has been confirmed in Madrid, and it is hard to believe that the club would pay so much money for a player, and even more so when Florentino Perez felt betrayed by the sudden change of decision in the summer of 2022.

Still, Mbappe is set to be the star of the next decade and Real Madrid to like to have the best in the world wearing white.

I considered only two options before Chelsea exit – Rudiger

Real Madrid defender Toni Rudiger admits he had several options before leaving Chelsea this summer.

Rudiger joined Real Madrid in a Bosman transfer at the end of last season.

He recalled to AS: “Of course, I was approached by many teams, but I considered only two options – Chelsea and Real Madrid.

“I spent five years in London and had a certain status. I could stay there or move to Real Madrid. Barcelona were also interested in my services.

“But for me it was impossible. I have already said that Real Madrid was a dream for me, this team seemed unattainable to me.”

Kylian Mbappe breaks silence on leaving PSG

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) star, Kylian Mbappe has denied that he wants to quit the French giant in January.

The World Cup winner said he was surprised by the news.

“I never asked for my departure in January.

“The information that came out on the day of the [Champions League match against Benfica], I did not understand it. I am not involved in this information neither directly nor indirectly,” Mbappe told reporters after PSG’s 1-0 win over Marseille in Ligue 1 on Sunday.

It was claimed Mbappe felt ‘betrayed’ by PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi and wanted to leave the Ligue 1 champions as soon as possible.

“I was as shocked by this news as everyone else. People may think I’m involved, I’m not at all.

“I was taking a nap, my entourage was at my little brother’s game. We were stunned when we found out.

“Afterwards, we had to deal with it, we had a match to play. I just wanted to say that it’s completely false, I’m very happy here,” the 24-year-old added.

  • Why Arsenal pulled out to sign Youri Tielemans

Why Arsenal pulled out to sign Youri Tielemans

Arsenal pulled out of the transfer race for Youri Tielemans due to tactical reasons.

The Leicester City star was linked with a move to the Gunners and Manchester Untied all summer.

Despite only having a year left on his Leicester deal, the Belgian international is still at the club.

According to Give Me Sport, Arsenal prioritised a late bid for Douglas Luiz of Aston Villa over Tielemans.

This is because Arsenal ‘lost belief’ that Tielemans was the right fit for their team.

The north London club ultimately failed with three offers for Luiz.

Premier League side, Chelsea are close to completing a swap deal for Barcelona striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Sky Sports says an offer of Marcos Alonso plus £8m cash in exchange for the Gabon striker has been accepted by Barca.

Alonso touched down in Barcelona yesterday in anticipation of making a move to the Nou Camp.

Man Utd made €135m offer for Atletico Madrid attacker

Premier League club Manchester United made a massive offer for Atletico Madrid attacker Joao Felix earlier this summer.

Marca says the Spanish side turned down a €135m bid for Felix from United back in late July.

When CEO Miguel Angel Gil Marin was informed of the offer, he didn’t hesitate in turning it down even though it’s more than the 127.2 million the club paid to sign Felix from Benfica back in the summer of 2019.

The CEO’s faith in Felix hasn’t wavered since he travelled to Lisbon to sign him back in 2019, as Gil is convinced he will become one of the best footballers in the world.

The bid reportedly came on July 31, the day after Atletico and United faced off in Oslo. Felix netted the winner that day, with the player aware that the Red Devils had taken a particular interest in him.

  • Aubameyang responds to Chelsea interest

    Aubameyang responds to Chelsea interest

Barcelona striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has given a blunt response after being asked about Chelsea’s interest in his services.

Reports in Spain claim Barcelona need to sell at least one of Aubameyang and Memphis Depay to help balance their whirlwind finances.

In response, the 33-year-old simply stated, via BarcaCentre: “I have nothing to say.”

It is believed that Aubameyang would be reluctant to leave Cataluyna, having just arrived from Arsenal in January.

Nonetheless, Chelsea are persisting in talks with Barcelona over a potential £21m transfer.

Chelsea ready to make multi-player swap offer for Barca midfielder

Premier League club, Chelsea are ready to set up a multi-player swap deal for Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong.

Sport says the Blues could possibly offer current defensive duo Marcos Alonso and Cesar Azpilicueta in part exchange for De Jong.

Barcelona have already been chasing the signings of the Chelsea pair this summer – despite having already sealed the services of Danish defender Andreas Christensen on a free transfer.

Barcelona might well prefer to do a deal with Chelsea then considering their aforementioned interest in Alonso and Azpilicueta. President Joan Laporta has already praised their abilities but refused to comment on a potential move for the pair.

He said from New York: “They are under contract at Chelsea and we respect this as well as the new owner. I don’t want to talk about players who belong to other teams.

“I respect Cesar and Marcos as footballers. They are very, very good players. They show their quality and talent at Chelsea. But I don’t want to talk about them as a matter of respect for Chelsea.”
