Thomas Tuchel willing to see 12 Chelsea players depart

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel is prepared to see as many as twelve players offloaded this summer.

Chelsea’s loan players of last season have returned to Cobham for training.

According to Turkish journalist Ekrem Konur, a host of those are not in Tuchel’s plans for the new campaign.

It’s reported that up to 12 players will be told they can find a new club including last year’s recruit Malang Sarr who spent last season on loan at Porto, says the Daily Express.

The highest-profile names include Ross Barkley and Ruben Loftus-Cheek, who both endured mixed spells on loan at Aston Villa and Fulham respectively.

Danny Drinkwater and Trevor Chalobah could also be heading towards the exit door.

Jake Clarke-Salter, Charly Musonda, Matt Miazga, Lewis Baker and Baba Rahman could also move on.

Chelsea may hope they can recoup some money for Tiemoue Bakayoko and Davide Zappacosta though, with both now still of some value.

Tuchel sets Dortmund deadline to accept Haaland offer

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has pushed Borussia Dortmund and Erling Haaland with a deadline to get a deal done.

Football.London says Chelsea were believed to be one of the frontrunners to sign the 20-year-old with reports claiming the club had already agreed personal terms with the striker.

But Tuchel is eager to get the deal over the line sooner rather than later ahead of the new season.

Tuchel has set a deadline to help put pressure on Dortmund to cash in.

The Bundesliga club are desperate to hold on to their talisman for one more year, especially after letting Jadon Sancho join Manchester United.

It is understood Dortmund have set a £150m price tag on the forward, but the Blues see an offer of £135m more preferable.

  • Tuchel blocks Chelsea chief from selling Marcos Alonso

Tuchel blocks Chelsea chief from selling Marcos Alonso

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has blocked managing director Marina Granovskaia’s attempt to sell Marcos Alonso.

The Spaniard was a target for Barcelona this summer as they look to build their strength-in-depth.

Alonso made just 17 appearances in all competitions across the campaign, comfortably the fewest of any of his five seasons at Chelsea.

But despite the 30-year-old’s lack of playing time, Tuchel is keen to keep Alonso at the club due to his tactical flexibility, with the player able to play as a full-back, wing-back or on the left of a back three.

And, when Barcelona came calling, Tuchel stepped in to override Granovskaia and insist that he wants to keep Alonso “at all costs”, reports Mundo Deportivo.

Tuchel convinced Adama Traore can fit into Chelsea system

Chelsea chiefs are actively discussing a move for Wolves winger Adama Traore.

In the market for an attacking wing-back, Blues manager Thomas Tuchel has Adama under consideration as an alternative to Inter Milan star Achraf Hakimi.

Chelsea are locked in talks with Inter over a fee for the free-scoring right-back, though face stiff competition from PSG.

As such, Chelsea also have Adama on the radar, says AS.

The exciting wing talent is currently with Spain at the Euros and Tuchel believes he can be successfully converted to a wing-back.

Tuchel reveals secret behind his magic Champions League shoes

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel says key to Saturday’s Champions League final triumph was his magic shoes.

After defeating Manchester City, Tuchel has revealed why his shoes were so heavily involved in our post-match celebrations.

“I had these exact trainers in Paris and I made a promise that we will wear these shoes when we reach the Champions League final,” Tuchel said.

“They were a present from the president at PSG and I promised my staff I would wear them in the final.

“I did not wear them that day, and we lost [to Bayern Munich]. I made sure I wore them this year and they worked!”

Tuchel must make one signing for title challenge – Gallas

Former Chelsea defender William Gallas says the club must make one key signing ahead of next season.

Gallas and other ex-Blues were delighted at the team’s showing in the Champions League final on Saturday, which they won 1-0 over Manchester City.

The former centre-back believes that if the Blues were to sign a world class striker for manager Thomas Tuchel, they can win the Premier League next term.

“I predicted one of the London clubs would win the title last year but it didn’t happen and I was a little disappointed,” Gallas told Metro.

“Chelsea have the best chance of winning the Premier League next season because of how they played in the Champions League, every team will be afraid.

“If Chelsea buy a world-class striker, they will win it. From those three, Chelsea have the best chance.

“To be a big club, you have to qualify for the Champions League – only big clubs qualify for the Champions League.

“That’s why City, United, Chelsea and Liverpool qualified. Not Arsenal and Tottenham – they are not big clubs.

“OK, Arsenal is a big club with history but it’s been a long time since they won the Premier League so they need to get back. And Tottenham, it is a long, long time since they won the league.”

Chelsea coach reveals how many signings he wants

Chelsea coach Thomas Tuchel is prepared to strengthen his squad at Stamford Bridge after guiding the Blues to Champions League glory, with the German tactician looking to make “two or three” additions in the summer transfer window.

Roman Abramovich bankrolled an elaborate spending spree in 2020, with Frank Lampard freed to snap up the likes of Timo Werner, Hakim Ziyech, Kai Havertz and Edouard Mendy.

Tuchel is hoping to chase down a number of targets, telling reporters on his recruitment plans: “Two or three could be very, very good.

“It’s a constant thing to never deny change.

“That you always bring new energy, new guys who question the old beliefs, who challenge everybody in the training and in matches, so I think it’s a good thing.”

We wanted to be a stone in Man City shoe – Tuchel

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel is full of pride after their shock Champions League final triumph against Manchester City.

Tuchel has turned Chelsea around after replacing Lampard and won European club football’s biggest prize in just his 30th game in charge.

The win comes a year after guiding Paris St-Germain to the final, where the Ligue 1 side were narrowly beaten by Bayern Munich.

He told BT Sport: “To share it with everybody is incredible. We made it. Wow. I don’t know what to feel.

“I was so grateful to arrive a second time [in the final]. I felt different.

“The [players] were determined to win this. We wanted to be a stone in their shoe. We encouraged everybody to step up and step out, to be more brave and create dangerous counter-attacks.

“It was a tough physical game. We had to help each other out.”

Emery success a good sign for us tonight – Tuchel

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel hopes Unai Emery’s Europa League success is a positive sign for tonight.

Like Villarreal coach Emery, Tuchel is also a former PSG manager and hopes to repeat the Spaniard’s success in the Champions League final tonight.

“It’s a good sign. We take all the things that make us think of good signs, and that is a very positive signal,” confided Tuchel with a smile on RMC.

“We are very happy to have beaten them (Manchester City) twice in a row. It means that we know very well what to do, that we will suffer against them, but that we can find solutions.

“We were also lucky, we know it’s another competition, but we have that experience and it’s good for confidence.”

  • You must not have regrets after final – Tuchel tells players

You must not have regrets after final – Tuchel tells players

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has told his players they must not have any regrets facing Manchester City in Saturday’s Champions League final.

Chelsea have recorded two recent victories over Pep Guardiola’s side, raising hope that the Blues can cause an upset to become European champions for the second time.

“We have to be at our very best – that we have no regrets after this game,” said Tuchel, who confirmed his team have practiced penalties this week.

“Manchester City is the benchmark with this team and this manager over the last years but we are really aware you are always able to close the gap.

“So they are maybe at the moment the strongest team in Europe and maybe in the world, and they have built a huge gap between them and us in the league.

“But we closed the gap for 90 minutes in Wembley, we closed the gap for 90 minutes at City, and this is what we want to do tomorrow.

“How did we close the gap? We were courageous, we were brave, we suffered together. We showed up in every single minute.

“We feel the hunger, we are not happy to just be here we are not over-excited to be here – we want to be over-excited after the match, we want the last step. We are here to lift the trophy.”
