Wike causing problem in Rivers for selfish interest – Secondus

Prince Uche Secondus a  former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP)  on Saturday labeled former governor of the State,Nyesom Wike as selfish and greedy, saying he’s the architect of the problem in the state, because of his selfish interest.

Secondus made this known while speaking to journalists in Abuja, said the FCT Minister was the brain behind Governor Siminalaye Fubura’s political troubles.

He posited that the former governor brought misery, grief, and anguish into the state, stressing that the Minister has failed to attract any federal project to Rivers.

According to Secondus, Fubara fell out with his estranged godfather when he (Fubara) decided to prevent the looting of the state.

He explained that the political crisis currently rocking the state was orchestrated by those who demand unfettered access to the state’s finances, a demand he said the governor refused to accept.

Secondus said, “Wike has been Governor for eight years and is now Minister of the FCT.

“As Minister, what has he, Wike, attracted in terms of Federal projects to our dear State since he assumed office?

“Perhaps misery, grief, and anguish. As governor he supervised the exit of investors from the state due to his draconian policies.

“He had on an occasion mentioned that he is capable of causing a crisis and he is not far from the truth, as he is causing an unfathomable crisis in Rivers State.

“Mrs Patience Jonathan and I worked for his emergence as governor, have we ever breathed down his neck? Instead, what we get is disrespect and insults.

“I call on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to prevail on the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike to stop overheating the Rivers State political atmosphere and allow Fubara to work. Whatever Wike thinks he is, it must be stressed that Rivers people made him.”

BREAKING: PDP defeats Secondus, Appeal Court okays party’s national convention

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has defeated it’s suspended national chairman, Prince Uche Secondus in court, with a directive to go ahead with its national convention unhindered.

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports Secondus had approached the Court of Appeal, sitting in Port-Harcourt, the Rivers State capital to challenge his removal as the PDP’s national chairman.

He also approached the court to stop the party from holding its National Convention as scheduled for 30th to 31st of October, 2021 in Abuja, the federal capital territory (FCT).

However, the Court of Appeal has passed judgement, ruling in favour of the PDP to hold its National Convention as scheduled.

The three-man panel dismissed the appeal which was filed on October 14, 2021 for lacking in merit.

The judgement was read by Justice Gabriel Kolawale, and was unanimously endorsed by the other two members of the panel.

The panel ruled that Secondus voluntarily relinquished his office since he did not challenge his removal at ward and local government levels.

Only PDP NEC can suspend me – Secondus

Mr Uche Secondus, National Chairman, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), says only National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party has powers to discipline him or any member of the National Working Committee (NEC).

Secondus stated this in a statement by his Media Aide, Mr Ike Abonyi, in Abuja while reacting to his suspension by his ward executives in Rivers.

He said that Article 59(3) of the PDP Constitution stated clearly that only the NEC has such power to discipline NEC members of the party.

“The media office of Secondus ordinarily should not be responding to every ‘noise’ in the media being engineered by those who set out to distract and destroy the PDP.

“But it is our responsibility to guide those who are easily persuaded by news in the media hence this response.

“Such action is a mere wish as Article 59(3) of the PDP constitution states clearly that only the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party can discipline the National Chairman or any other National officer of the party,” he said.

He urged members of the public and the media to be wary of agents who were out to distract the PDP from its focus of rescuing Nigeria.

The PDP ward 5 in Ikuru town, Andoni in Rivers on Wednesday suspended Secondus from the party.

His suspension was announced by the PDP Ward Chairman, Mr George Christopher, at the party’s extraordinary meeting in Ikuru town, saying that 11 of the 17 executive members endorsed the suspension.

Christopher accused Secondus of not attracting development to the area in spite of his exalted political profile adding that his inability to manage the affairs of the party was also a bad reputation to the area.

“The ward 5 executive of the PDP in Ikuru town on Aug. 31, discussed issues affecting the party.

“The ward executive suspended Secondus after a duly constituted meeting convened by the Secretary on the instructions of the Chairman in accordance with the party’s constitution,” he said.

A Rivers’ High Court had on Monday, Aug. 23 granted an interim order, restraining Secondus from parading himself as the national chairman and member of the PDP.

Justice Okogbule Gbasam of the Degema Judicial Division, presiding over a vacation court in Port Harcourt, granted the order, pending the determination of the substantive suit.

This made the party on Wednesday, Aug. 25 to adopt its Deputy National Chairman (South), Elder Yemi Akinwonmi, as acting Chairman.

In another twist, another court of coordinate jurisdiction in Kebbi on Thursday, Aug. 26 restored the embattled national chairman to his position.

However, on Aug. 27, another High Court in Cross River granted an interim order restraining Secondus from resuming office as the national chairman of the PDP.

Edem Kooffreh, the presiding judge, gave the order on Friday, while ruling on a motion ex parte marked HC/240/2021, and filed by Enang Wani.

The court barred Secondus from presiding over any meeting of the party until the motion is heard.

Meanwhile, the PDP NEC in an effort to resolve the leadership crisis approved Oct. 30 for the party’s elective national convention, scheduled for Abuja, to usher in new leadership.

Resign Now, PDP Caucus tells Secondus

NEED FOR A DECISIVE ACTION TO RESOLVE THE CURRENT IMPASSE IN THE OVERRIDING INTEREST OF THE PARTY. As it has always been, now and in years to come, the special significance of our party’s Board of Trustees (BoT) as the conscience of the party cannot be over-emphasized; In the BoT reside the hope of millions of our party members who keenly look forward to a vibrant, visionary and vigorous political campaign that will usher in victory for our party in the coming general elections. However, in the past few days, the nation’s mass media have been awash with worrisome news about developments within our party. Hitherto, the gale of defections from our party to the other parties as well as the palpable absence of a deep issue based and sustained opposition have been a source of great concern to members of the public and true party men, including those of us in the PDP House of Representatives Caucus. After the exit of three Governors, few weeks ago, four members of the House of Representatives from Zamfara State decamped from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and defected to the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC). Worse still, this week, we received news of the defection of a member of our party’s Board of Trustees with great pain and disappointment. This news was visited with silence from the party managers as usual.Amidst these unsavory developments, increasing distractions of retaining the office for another term has blurred the capability of our national chairman to exhibit the selfless and tactical acumen required of an opposition leader in an abusive, irresponsive and dictatorial regime like that of Gen Buhari (rtd.). These obvious and palpable inadequacies have provoked growing calls from the grassroots for a change in our party headship as the voice of the masses will definitely be lost in a docile and voiceless opposition. Confronted with the pains and miseries foisted by the current ruling party that thrives in propaganda and outright lies, exposing the country to extreme poverty, insecurity, depressed economy and abuse of human rights. Nigerians are helplessly looking up to us to salvage the sunk state ship. Our esteemed leaders, the current situation calls for very urgent and effective steps to be taken towards effecting a real paradigm shift and quick installation of a vibrant leadership in our great party. Without much ado, decisive efforts must be made by members of our BoT to compel the jettisoning of personal ambitions and encourage respected individuals to make such personal sacrifices that may be required in the furtherance of party and national interests. It is on this basis that the House Caucus of the PDP in an emergency meeting on 7th August resoled as follows:“1. To formally ask the BoT and the Governors Forum of the PDP to ensure immediate and firm resolution of current challenges so as to enable a re-engineering, re-focusing process that would restore party members and millions of other Nigerians’ hope and confidence in the PDP as an alternative to the current dysfunctional, irresponsive and rudderless government of APC with its attendant suffering, miseries, political deceit, economic woes, insecurity and all-round disappointment foisted on on millions of Nigerian families across the federation, and;2. Urge the current National Chairman (Prince Uche Secondus) to consider making the necessary personal sacrifice worthy of a leader in the party’s current and future interest with a firm assurance of honourable regard and appreciation by the party leadership now and in years to come, by honourably resigning his position as party chairman immediately, to allow the party an early start.”Consequent upon above, we pray you to urge the national chairman (Prince Uche Secondus) to be a hero by resigning his position to allow you the opportunity to take decisive steps to resolve our party’s current situation, optimally address existing gaps and immediately map out a way forward for our great party, the Peoples Democratic Party. We look forward to a justification of our keen confidence in the ability of the Your Excellences, (the conscience and soul of our party) our esteemed Board of Trustees Members to advise the National Chairman to immediately resign his position to enable you make this happen without any further delay. We reaffirm our solidarity and unconditional loyalty to the party (PDP). Accept the assurance of our high regards for your office and person.

Rep. O. K. Chinda (LEADER, PDP HOUSE OF REPS CAUCUS).

…as embattled Secondus fights to retrain chairmanship

Apparently sensing the dangers ahead, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP Board of Trustees, BoT will meet today to deliberate on Uche Secondus faltering tenure.

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports the meeting designed to further clear the cloudy situation surrounding the Secondus led-NWC after ten members have their resignation insisting the chairman must vacate his seat.

A source privy to this development told TNG that”the BoT will meet either in a closed door meeting today but I can really state the time now.

“If the truth must be told, people are tired of his lack lustre leadership style and nobody wants a second defeat under his watch.

TNG recalls that on Tuesday some key members of the NWC submitted their resignation notice and this has made the embattled national chairman to be running from pillar to post to garner the support of governor’s.

Another source told TNG that”even the governor that gave Secondus the teeth to bite has long dumped him because of his alleged gross incompetence in managing the affairs of our party.

“While some Governors want him out now others feel he should at least complete his tenure and bow out peacefully.

“The governors backing Secondus for now include Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu), Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia), Bala Mohammed (Bauchi), Darius Ishaku (Taraba), Duoye Diri (Bayelsa), Ifeanyi Okowa (Delta) and Godwin Obaseki (Edo). Deputy Governor Mahdi Aliyu Gusau (Zamfara) is also with him.

“The PDP governors opposed to Secondus are Wike, Seyi Makinde (Oyo) and Ahmadu Fintiri (Adamawa).

The source added: “If the BoT fails to bail him out of this messy situation it’s going to be goodbye to his reign.

    ..seven other national leaders resign

    … I will replace them,Secondus declares

… critical stakeholders meet to stem the tide

…angered party members dragging us back Seconds insists

    Emman Ovuakporie

Finally, the Uche Secondus-led National leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) nose dived on Tuesday as ten members of National Working Committee passed a vote of no confidence on him.

TheNewsGuru.com, (TNG) reports the NWC structure is 19 members.

National Youth leader of the party, Sunday Udeh Okoye, disclosed to journalists at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja that himself and nine other NWC members have lost confidence in Secondus’ leadership.

Embattled Secondus however dismissed the claims of those working against him as untrue.

He threatened to replace whoever resigns immediately.

He claims he still has majority behind his leadership.

The NWC members said to be moving against Secondus are the Deputy National Vice Chairman (North), Senator National Suleiman.

Sources close to the party leadership said that even the National Secretary of the party, Senator Ibrahim Tsauri, is also among those aggrieved.

Meanwhile, meeting of stakeholders in the party was being convened Tuesday night to exchange views and take far reaching decisions, TNG gathered.

At his own press conference, Okoye said:

“Mr. Uche Secondus, the national chairman of the party is incompetent of managing the affairs of this party, he lacks managerial capacity to manage PDP.

He had made sure that many departments of the party did not function as effectively as it ought to function. Mr. Chairman has nothing to offer to the party only to come here and decieve us.”

“There is a sharp division in our NWC right now, not only me, many more NWC members are more aggrieved than myself.

Today(Tuesday),I have asked him in our NWC meeting to resign his position as the chairman of this party because he cannot lead this party to victory.”

He also called on governors elected on the platform of the party .

“I am also asking the leaders, the governors, the founding fathers, the youth, the women to rise up to rescue our party from the hand of incompetent leader like Secondus because he is not willing to take us to anywhere. He is just there to make sure that he enriches himself.”

“I am here to make it very clear to all Nigerians that if Secondus does not resign from the party, I am going to leave the party for him to eat the party and own the party. The governors, if they don’t wade into this matter right now, I assure Nigerians that within the next three, four days, my letter will be public.” Okoye added.

Confirming that more NWC members have lost confidence in Secondus, Okoye said:

“Tday because of Secondus, many more people are also going to resign in the NWC because of Secondus. Right now I can tell you that not less than eight to ten persons within the NWC members are very aggrieved with Secondus but I have taken my stand because I cannot sit here and one man who ought to respect his age and respect the oath of the party that he has sworn to protect, to defend, to work for the interest of the party will keep making sure that the party does not go anywhere.”

Okoye also confirmed that measures are being put in place to ensure that Secondus is removed before the party is destroyed.

Meanwhile, National Publicity Secretary of the PDP said yesterday that the conflict resolution mechanism of the party has been activated to look at the crisis in the party.

“The National Working Committee of our great party at it meeting today recieved the notice of the resignation from deputies who are elected members of the National Executive Committee.

The meeting of the National Working Committee and the deputies immediately took place to dialogue on the issues that were raised. The party will look into the grievances raised by members of NEC as well as members of the National Working Committee.

The internal conflict resolution mechanism of our party has also been immediately activated to put these issues behind us. We call on all the leaders, stakeholder and members of our great party to remain calm as we collectively resolve these issues.”

He confirmed at another press conference that the National Secretariat of the party has received letters of resignation of the seven leaders .

The seven are Diran Odeyemi, deputy national publicity secretary; Ahmed Bello, deputy national legal adviser; Umoru Hadizat, deputy national women leader; Divine Amina Arong, deputy national auditor; Hassan Yakubu, deputy national organizing secretary; and Irona Alphonsus, deputy national financial secretary .

They resigned their positions, citing the “bad treatment” exhibited by the PDP national chairman since the election that brought the current leadership of the party to power in 2017.

In a separate press briefing , Secondus represented by his media adviser, Ike Abonyi, told journalists that Okoye and the aggrieved PDP leaders were being sponsored by those he described as power drunk politicians desperate to have their way at all costs.

Abonyi reacting to the allegations of the Youth Leader on incompetence and self enrichment against National Chairman, said:

“Regarding the press conference of the Youth leader who is realising after three and half years that Secondus is incompetent, that Secondus is enriching himself, it took him three and a half years and four, five months to the convention. It is very unfortunate because he has operated as the youth leader of this party since December 2017 with Secondus as National Chairman and has worked with him but suddenly, few months to convention, after the game of this morning, in some part of Abuja, he suddenly discovered that Secondus is incompetent, he suddenly discovered that Secondus is enriching himself?

“I want to assure members of the party that the structure of the party is intact and Prince Secondus is the National Chairman and anybody who resigns will be replaced the next day and this party will work to victory in 2023 there is no going back about it.

All those who are looking for interim government few months to general election are taking us back to Egypt and no body is ready to go back to Egypt.
