I wished I had my own true love on Valentine’s Day

Busty actress, Praise Sam Ogan has opened up on why she doesn’t cheat when she is in love.

Speaking in a recent interview with The Sun, she said “I just got into a new relationship, I don’t know his plan for us. Besides, I don’t know if I am his only girlfriend yet (laughs). I was born out of love and in love. That’s why, when I’m in love, I am focused 100%. I don’t cheat. If I’m here, I’m here. I’m very contented, loyal and faithful 100 percent. Shedding light on how she handles heartbreaks, Praise said:“All my heartbreaks hurt me so bad, and it is not always easy to let go. But whenever I workout so hard, it is therapy to become happier.”

  • Get the ring! 5 ways to make him propose on Valentine’s Day

Get the ring! 5 ways to make him propose on Valentine’s Day

On Sunday, Nigerians will join people from across the world to celebrate St Valentine’s Day.

It is the dream of every woman not just to get the ring, but to get proposed to on Valentine’s Day.

Valentine’s Day is the most romantic time of the year and the best time to pop the question. So how do you make your man do it without looking needy or desperate?

    Below are the tips:

    1. Give him hints about moving

This is one way you can try when everything else is failing. Calmly share your thoughts with him about moving to another location. Doesn’t matter if you don’t have any real plans for moving, just the thought of you going away and moving out will influence him to propose. He won’t want to lose you and that will make him take action and pop the question.

2.Let him know you have options

Don’t scare him by saying anything stupid. However you need to make him know you have other options if he wont be the one that will marry you. Tell him about the guys interested in you. Tell him when a guy compliments you. He will start finding the perfect ring to ensure you’re his and just his from now until for eternity!

    3.Plan a romantic trip

Sometimes the best thing to do is to set the scene for him and give him the perfect opportunity to pop the question by planning a romantic trip or a holiday of a lifetime. By planning the trip, you create the atmosphere for him to propose.

    1. Appreciate your man

Gratitude unlocks door of opportunity. No man wants to propose to a woman who nags or whines. Show your appreciation more by saying thank you after he has fixed something or tell him how good he looks in that outfit.

If your man feels appreciated and treasured, then he will strive to do more to please you and will realize that getting married to you will be one of the best decisions he would ever make.

5.Let him know how important marriage is to you

There is a huge need for you to have an honest conversation with your guy if you really want to get engaged. For some men, marriage simply isn’t a big deal. They see it as “just a piece of paper.” Whatever your reasons are for wanting to get married, make sure your guy knows all of them. Even if he isn’t too particular on the idea of tying the knot, knowing just how much it matters to you may be enough to get him to take that next step.

If he knows that he wants to spend the rest of his life with you, getting married is something he will be eager to do because he knows it will make you happy.

You can still get the ring this Valentine’s Day. Keep your hope alive.

  • Heads up ladies: See what men want for valentine

Heads up ladies: See what men want for valentine

A cross section of men in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on Friday said that women should give them valuable gifts for the Valentine Day celebration.

In interviews, they lamented that over the years, women do give them underwears as gifts during the celebration.

They added that women should learn to give men valuable gifts like perfumes, shirts, wrist watches among others.

Mr David Oyedira, a medical doctor told NAN that his girlfriend always gave him boxers for the valentine, and expected him to give ‘the world’.

“I am tired of boxers all the time, this time around, I want something better this year,’’ he said.

Mr Ikechukwu Maxwell, a businessman said women are too stingy and believe they are wise, adding that he was not ready to patronize anybody this time.

“This year’s valentine, I am on my own, I am not buying any gift for any lady, because in return, all I get is underwear, I have got enough underwears in my house,’’ he said.

Mr Oluwasegun Ojo, a civil servant said he was looking forward to the valentine celebration, adding that he has a lot of surprise packages for his babe.

“But I have already told her, I don’t want underwear, it’s going to be great.

“Women generally appear to have the habit of presenting one common gift to their spouses on valentine day; most women are used to buying only underwear.

“Whereas women want something more valuable than underwear as a gift on valentine day. Women expect their spouse to buy them expensive gifts on valentine day, like car, phones, jewelries, clothes, shoes or tickets to travel abroad.

“Many ladies are not used to spending their own money to show their love to their spouse. I advised them to change for the better,” he said.

Meanwhile, Aisha Opeyemi, a trader said she prefers to buy underwear for her spouse on valentine day because it is affordable.

“I will buy underwear for my husband because I feel it is most useful to him and besides they are cheap and affordable for me,” she said.

Ibikunle Oluwaseun, a school teacher said the gift presented does not matter but what matters was the intention behind the gift.

“I don’t have money to buy expensive gifts, but I buy what I think will be useful to him.

“The Valentine’s Day is an opportunity for me to change my husband’s boxers, since he might not remember to buy even when the ones he has are worn out.

Ola Ibitoye, a business woman said that she prefers to buy underwear because men don’t appreciate flowers and men outfits are expensive.

  • Valentine’s Day: See most preferred gift choice among residents in Abuja

Valentine’s Day: See most preferred gift choice among residents in Abuja

Gift packs are the most preferred gift choice among residents in Abuja for the 2020 Valentine’s Day.

Most respondents on Thursday picked gift packs over single gift items or romantic dinners.

According to them, the ability to put a gift pack together showed thoughtfulness in picking each of the items packs will contain.

A gift pack is a collection of items, sometimes custom made, put in a box together with heartfelt meaning.

The respondents, both male and female, agreed that the items do not have to be expensive but should be practical enough to use.

Ifeanyi Ikediashi said that he would prefer if his partner gave him a collection of items rather than just one huge item.

He referred to himself as the ‘best gift collector’ and said, “I know I give really good gifts as well and there is that bliss you get when you pick our several items to wrap together.

“Plus, everyone likes thoughtful things that they can actually use. I would pick packs over just one big item.”

Also, Jennifer Tar told NAN that she enjoys picking small meaningful items and would love if same was gifted to her for Valentine.

NAN reports that the popularity of gift packs shot up in 2020 when compared to other years.

It can be clearly seen from the outpour of customised gift packs vendors online and offline.

The pressure is felt more on Instagram where vendors display pictures of packs they have put together.

All they ask are the names and likes of your partner while they assist you in putting the right gifts together in the box.

Vendors, who spoke with NAN acknowledge that the trend has gotten more popular in recent times and it has been good for business.

A usual gift pack might contain a statement jewelry piece, chocolates, hand written note and custom made vintage items specific to a person’s character or job.

They range from N7, 000 for small boxes and can go as high as N200, 000 for really expensive and customised boxes.

A vendor, Chioma Odii told NAN that she has made the most sales from selling gift packs in 2020 since the three years that she has done the business.

She said, “I think these days people are now more intentional about how they want to be treated. They just do not want you to do the usual.

“People want to know that you know them and what they like. So, a good pack will show that you think of them and not just get them what everyone got for Valentine.”

Odii added that the trend will not stop as more people get self aware and want to feel really special.

Valentine’s Day: See 6 States where free condoms will be distributed

February 14 every year is celebrated in Nigeria and in most parts of the world as Valentine’s Day, and AIDs Healthcare Foundation (AHF), a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) has said it will distribute 250,000 free condoms in six states of the federation in commemoration of the 2020 International Condom Day (ICD).

Mr Steve Aborisade, the Advocacy and Marketing Manager of AHF Nigeria in a statement in Abuja on Tuesday stated that the 2020 ICD with “Safer is Fun” as its theme, and is celebrated annually on February 13, in conjunction with Valentine’s Day that is celebrated on February 14.

He said that AHF would mark the day with a road walk, distribution of condoms and HIV testing and counselling exercise across six AHF-Nigeria programme states of Benue, Kogi, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Nasarawa, Anambra and Abuja.

Other activities the AHF Advocacy and Marketing Manager said will take place include entertainment and educational “Safer is Fun” activities alongside advocacy messages.

The marketing manager noted that Dr Echey Ijezie, the Country Programme Director of the foundation in Nigeria had reiterated commitment toward ensuring increased access to condom as the world celebrates ICD.

He said the use of condom would assist in preventing pregnancy, HIV and Sexually-Transmitted Infections (STIs), as well as promote healthy lifestyles.

He quoted Ijezie as saying “on February 13 and February 14, we will show Nigerians how “Safer is Fun” and why we urgently need to take advocacy for condom access to a higher level.

“This is critical as people cannot take charge of their health if widespread stock outs, shortages and unaffordable prices for condoms continue.

“Presently, AHF-Nigeria is collaborating with the National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA) and NOI Polls in a nationwide survey on the condom culture of Nigerians.

“This is an effort to support the Nigerian national condom policy and marketing approach to bridge the country’s annual condom gap of about 600 million.”

Terri Ford, the AHF Chief Global Policy and Advocacy, also said that distributing free condoms to people who needed them most had always been a priority for the foundation.

Ford said the foundation would step up its advocacy around the world to help break down barriers to access as condoms remained the most cost-effective option for preventing HIV, STIs and unplanned pregnancies.

The President of AHF, Michael Weinstein, said “ICD is a great way to remind people everywhere that HIV and STIs are still major global health threats.

“These threats can be avoided by regularly and correctly using condoms.

“There are 1.7 million new HIV infections annually and more than one million new cases of curable STIs every day, according to UNAIDSand the World Health Organisation, respectively.

“That is unacceptable when these conditions are 100 per cent preventable, thus, governments and global health organisations must do more to ensure that people have easy access to free or affordable condoms.”

AHF is the largest global AIDS organisation taking care of more than 1.3 million lives across 43 countries, including Nigeria.
