APC sources reveal details as VP Osinbajo visits Tinubu

Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo’s visit to the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, on Wednesday in Abuja was not for any political purposes but a friendly one, APC sources have said.

APC officials who witnessed the meeting said expectations in some quarters might suggest something different but it was a courtesy call based on the duo’s longstanding relationship.

Though Osinbajo’s stand on the APC’s Muslim-Muslim Ticket has been clear and has pitched him against some party stalwarts, the sources believe that his relationship with Tinubu is still cordial.

Citing previous meetings between the two after the presidential primaries earlier in June, they noted that Osinbajo’s latest visit to Tinubu was in response to an earlier visit from Tinubu to the vice-president after the primaries.

It would be recalled that shortly after the APC presidential primaries in June, Tinubu paid the vice-president a visit at his Aguda House residence in the Presidential Villa.

They both met later at the Ministerial Retreat in the Presidential Villa in October indicative of the cordial relationship between them.

“The fact that both leaders contested against each other at the primaries does not make them enemies because I know the vice-president is an ‘omoluabi’.

”He has high regards for BAT, who I also know to be very close to the vice president, and this he has demonstrated at different times.

“For the avoidance of doubt, Osinbajo’s visit to Tinubu was merely in the spirit of the Christmas season.

“Besides, such a visit can be best termed as reciprocal after Tinubu paid the vice-president a similar visit in the past,” an APC source said.

More so, a political analyst who pleaded anonymity said it was only customary, in the spirit of Christmas, for leaders to exchange visits and nothing less.

Observers believed the meeting was a personal regard between both leaders and also showed that there was no grudge between them.

They said the supporters that it was only some supporters who were making a big deal out of nothing.

  • 2023 : Nigerian Youths to Osinbajo – You Won

The voice of Nigerian youth initiative has released a statement following the outcome of the APC Presidential Primaries saying regardless of the outcome of the primaries, the Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo is a winner

In a statement signed by the Co-Founder of the initiative, Mrs Temi Okesanjo , the young Nigerians expressed their heartfelt conviction that the VP won because they believed in his leadership and the hope he inspires.

    Below is the full statement….

It is our firm belief that regardless of the outcome of your party primaries, you are a winner.

You won because the Nigerian youths believe in your leadership and the joy that comes with the hope you bring, the hope many had lost before now.

You won because those who hijacked and controlled the process altered what would have been a voluntary embrace of change.

You won because we will continue to look up to you for answers even as we do not see clearly when you will be crowned to give these answers.

They say people shouldn’t have what they didn’t fight for, but the ones who couldn’t be induced didn’t get a chance to vote.

We didn’t let you down, they know we wouldn’t is why it was mandatory to hijack the initial process to voting our next president

You come with a different sense of capacity to change, the change that has been disbelieved and misunderstood by the people.

We are sad that the hijack of the process may have taken us 10 years backwards, but we are happy because we fought a good fight and we still have you with us.

We hope that you will continue to give yourself to this country the way you have done relentlessly, knowing we need you.

Your person and strength of character is almost unbelievable. You are so high up, yet gifted with a common touch that resonates with everyone.

You have taught us one of the most important lessons of life: to stand firm in spite of the many contrived and obstructing plots.

We urge you to go on because of our future and the future of our children.

Remember you won and the delay that the outcome has imposed is only temporary.

We are already looking forward, for in the future lies the realization of our dreams of a greater nation.

    God Bless Nigeria

  • Osinbajo’s credentials intimidating – Oba of Benin

Osinbajo’s credentials intimidating – Oba of Benin

The Oba of Benin, Omo N’Oba Ewuare II, says co-contestants for the position of the President of Nigeria are shivering because of the intimidating dossier of the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo.

The traditional ruler expressed this view on Thursday when he received the vice president on a courtesy visit to his palace in Benin.

He said that other aspirants under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and other political parties in the 2023 presidential election are feeling intimidated by Osinbajo’s credentials.

“No doubt, your credentials, since you have come out to run for this great office, I think you are going to give a lot of problems to all the other contestants.

“There is no gainsaying that they all probably are shivering where they are because your credentials, calmness, humility and great respect for culture and being a true man of God, are frightening.

“If we have politicians in the country that have the fear of God in their heart, not just to go there to rape the treasury and oppress people, whether at the presidential level or gubernatorial level, I think the country will be better for it.

“But what we see, most of the time, are people rushing to be president, vice president or governors, only to go there and loot the treasury, enrich themselves, leaving the electorate that put them there, hard and dry.

“This kind of thing should change; they should put the electorate first.”

The traditional ruler gave his royal blessings to Osinbajo’s aspiration.

“As a man of God, if by the grace of God, you are the man, you have a whole lot on shoulder to remove all these vices out of our society and make Nigeria a better place to live and a tourist destination and in all spheres.

“We want to stay here in Nigeria and enjoy the good things of life in Nigeria, not in Dubai, not in the United States and some other countries,” he said.

  • 2023: Osinbajo reveals what he learnt under president Buhari

2023: Osinbajo reveals what he learnt under president Buhari

Nigeria’s current vice President Yemi Osinbajo has given details of what his principal President Muhammadu Buhari told him about the Presidency of Nigeria.

Osinbajo made this revelation on Monday during his visit to Akure the Ondo state capital to meet with Governor Rotimi Akeredolu.

Osinbajo was full of praises for Buhari for assigning key responsibilities to him since the All Progressives Congress (APC) assumed power in 2015.

The VP further commended the President for his “open mindedness and generosity”

The Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) recalls many things he learnt as the Acting president when the president Buhari was away on medical trips.

“Even people in government will never come across and I gained a lot of experience on that account.

“Many times, the President, when he was away, said pointedly to me that: Look, I don’t want to feter your discretion in any way.

“As Acting President, you are president. Make sure you are fair and just. Don’t refer anything to me, don’t ask me any questions. Just do whatever you need to do.”

The vice president noted that it would be an injustice for him to have learnt a lot and not put them into use.

  • Reno Omokri tackles VP Osinbajo, says declaration speech watery

Reno Omokri tackles VP Osinbajo, says declaration speech watery

A former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, Reno Omokri, has lambasted Vice president, Professor Yemi Osinbajo over his declaration of interest in the country’s presidency.
Recall that VP Osinbajo on Monday morning declared his intentions to contest the 2023 presidential election under the auspices of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC)
Reacting to Osinbajo’s declaration of interest on his official facebook page, Omokri said the VP lacks the capacity and tenacity to lead Nigeria, saying he has always been part of the country’s problems.
His post reads”Osinbajo’s declaration speech was watery and baseless. First of all, how could he say he is running to “complete the task” that Buhari started? Buhari stated extreme poverty and overwhelming security for Nigeria. Under Buhari, our country’s debt has grown from ₦12 trillion in 2015, to almost ₦50 trillion this year (if the new ₦6 trillion loan requests are granted. If Osinbajo is running to “complete” that, then he is running to completely destroy what is left of Nigeria!
”Osinbajo said he is running to provide jobs for millions. Those were his exact words. The fellow has been in charge of Nigeria’s economy for the last seven years, according to Buhari, who boasted that Osinbajo heads his economic management team . Yet, Nigerians have lost jobs created by other administrations. His job record is FAILURE! Nigeria has less jobs now, than in 2015, and our unemployment rate has increased from 12% in 2015, to 33% according to the National Bureau of Statistics.
‘Osinbajo said he wants to birth the expectations of greatness for Nigeria. Under his leadership of Buhari’s economic management team, Nigeria became the world headquarters for extreme poverty. We do not need Osinbajo’s type of ‘expectation’!
”Osinbajo in his declaration speech said he remained focused on securing the country. That is an insult to the intelligence of Nigerians. Under Osinbajo and Buhari, Nigeria became the 3rd most insecure nation on Earth. Only Iraq and Afghanistan are worse than us. We just witnessed a train bombing and the abduction of over a hundred Nigerians who are still with terrorists. Over 700 of our soldiers have been killed in the last 18 months. If that is what Osinbajo’s focus produces, then we don’t need it!
”For years, Osinbajo has been posing as an intellectual. So, at the very least, we expected his declaration speech to be filled with his achievements in office. But it was instead filled with promises. Empty promises. Because he and Buhari have no achievements to show for their wasted seven years”
”Osinbajo fooled us with his empty promises in 2015. Now, he is making new promises. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Don’t forget how he was doing Trader Moni during the last elections. Did he not abandon it after he and Buhari rigged themselves to a second term?
” In summary, Osinbajo’s declaration speech was as short as him, because he has no achievements, no plans, no priorities. The only thing he has are promises. And let us not forget that this was the same man who promised to create 3 million jobs annually. The best predictor of future behaviour is past behaviour. And Osinbajo’s past betrays him as an echo of Buhari’s cluelessness”

Leader of the delegation, Prof. Siraj Abdulkarim said they visited Osinbajo because we love this country.”

The scholar noted that the rivalry between Christians and Muslims in the country should be put out, urging the VP to start an initiative that will promote unity and oneness between both religions.

“I am enriched from what I have heard today and I have noted all the issues. I wish we had a bit more time. I agree we should engage more.

“The issues you have raised show us clearly that the future of this country lies with the elites, especially religious and political elites.”

Chief Imam of Abuja National Mosque, stressed that religious leaders also have “a duty to pray for Nigeria”.

Prof. Ibrahim Maqari the chief Imam of Abuja National Mosque, opined that religious leaders also need to imbibe the culture of praying for the country
