    Gov Oborevwori clears salaries of Warri Wolves players, management, pays bonuses

    Neville Ambakaderemo, the Chairman of Delta based football club, Warri Wolves, has appealed to the entire team and management to be dedicated and aspire to achieve positive results in order to reciprocate the good gesture and massive support from the governor of Delta state Sheriff Oborevwori.
    Nevlile made this call when granting an interview with the team’s Media Officer, Oris Lilian ahead of the team’s preparations for the second round of the President Federation Cup.
    Appreciating the Delta state Government’s  goodwill of paying  the Salaries and allowances of the team, Neville urged the team to pay back with their loyalty, dedication and results.
    He said with commitment and support from Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, there is great hope that Warri Wolves will soon return to playing in the Apex league in the country with a brighter future.
    Neville, an astute sports administrator, commended the inspiring partnership between the Delta State Government and it’s State owned team via the sports commission, noting that in the world of sports, success is often a reflection of strong leadership coupled with anwavering all round support as being offered to the team by the Delta State Government.
    “Football is dynamic even globally, that is why you hear phrases like the “gods” of Soccer being for or against you at times. In other words We should not outrightly judge the team by where it is now in the NNL, we are very sure with continued support from the Delta State Government under the leadership of Governor Oborevwori, the future is brighter”
    “It was very commendable on the side of the Governor who recently supported the team to see that Salaries were cleared and Bonuses paid”
    “That was very motivating and as I speak the camp is up and running and the Players are ready and highly motivated to put in their all to reciprocate the kind gesture from Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.”
    Reports in the camp of Warri Wolves states that the Delta Government recently cleared all outstanding salaries, allowances and bonuses to the delight of everyone.
    Warri Wolves are set to resume camping on May 12th, 2024 after going for a one-week break while training is expected to commence at the Warri Training centre on Monday, May 13th ahead of the round of 32 encounter against Kwara United.

    Warri Wolves get new coach after firing Alli over poor performance

    Management of Warri Wolves FC has cut ties with Coach Jolomi Atune Alli with immediate effect, following a 4-1 loss to Inter Lagos FC, in a Nigeria National League (NNL) match day nine encounter at the Mobolaji Johnson Stadium, Lagos.

    Chairman Warri Wolves FC, Neville Ambakederemo who confirmed the development said the directive came from the Delta State Sports Commission Chairman, Chief Tonubok Okowa, who had earlier given the embattled coach a two match win ultimatum after the side lost a home game to Giant Brillars Of Enugu.

    The Warri Wolves Management cited the recent consistent  poor run of the club as a reason for the action after the team suffered one of its highest defeat ever, a 4-1 loss to Inter Lagos FC on Saturday, Jan. 20th 2024.

    According to the Management, the assistant Coach, Austine Johnny has been directed to take charge pending the appointment of a new Technical Adviser.

    Warri Wolves Management thanked Coach Jolomi Atune Alli for his contributions to the team for the time he was with the Warri based side and wished him well on his future endeavours.

    It would be recalled that while the team did averagely well last season, narrowly missing out of the Federations cup finals and qualifying for super eight play offs for promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League, it has been a different ball game this season.

    The team this season has played eight games, recording three wins, one draw and four losses including a home loss and has now dropped to the relegation zone with 10 points from 8 games in the NNL Conference B where it is to battle nine other teams for two spots to be on promotion play offs.

    The Seasiders will on match day ten in one of the NNL schedules, at the Kwale Township Stadium host Gateway FC on January 28, before returning to Lagos to lock horns with Trade Safe FC on February 3rd.

    Warri Wolves crush Katsina United 4-1 in enthralling football encounter

    It was a dominant display in the second quarter-final game of the ongoing 2021 Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL/La-Liga U-15 Promises Youth League in Enugu, as Warri Wolves beat defending champions, Katsina United, 4 -1.

    The Junior Wolves opened scoring in the 22 minutes of the enthralling encounter through Abdul Samuel, after some beautiful team interchange of passes in the build up.

    The impressive young Seasiders held the advantage until the 38 minutes, when the young Changi Boys leveled terms with an Umar Abubakar’s effort on goal.

    A minute later the defending champions got the perfect response from the Seasiders, as Uwakwe Sampson restored their lead with a well timed strike.

    The first half ended with the young Seasiders as the side in the lead.

    Ten minutes into the second half, Vwegba Solomon made it 3 – 1 for the rampaging Wolves.

    In the 58 minutes, substitute Uchenna Ejiogu grab his second goal of the competition and Warri Wolves’ fourth goal of the match.

    Warri Wolves will play Kwara United in their next game of the league on Tuesday, April 27, 2021.

    Kano Pillars had beaten Kwara United 2 – 0 earlier on.

    BREAKING: Warri Wolves fire technical adviser after embarrassing draw

    Warri Wolves have sacked Evans Ogenyi as the technical adviser after the Seasiders played a goalless draw with struggling Jigawa Golden Stars on Wednesday in a Matchday 16 tie at home.

    The club’s Chief Executive Officer, Etu Moses, who disclosed this in a media chat after the encounter, deplored the current position of the team in the league, despite the management’s huge financial motivation of the side.

    Etu said the first team assistant coach, Paul Offor will be in charge of the club on an interim basis, pending the appointment of a new technical adviser.

    “It’s very very unfortunate that of all the teams, we played a goalless draw with Jigawa Golden Stars. It shows that something is wrong somewhere and action has to be taken.

    “We have relieved Evans Ogenyi of his job as the team’s technical adviser. Coach Paul Offor will be in charge of the team, pending when we will appoint a new technical adviser.

    “We thank him (Ogenyi) for his time with us and wish him all the best for the future. We aren’t owing anybody. We have paid salaries and other entitlements up to date,” Etu stated emphatically.

    In the last four games under Evans Ogenyi’s watch, the Seasiders did not record a win and managed to score once. That goal came in the rescheduled Matchday 10 game with Enyimba International at home.

    The club will next be in action on Sunday, March 21, 2021 in a Matchday 17 encounter against Heartland FC at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri.

    Warri Wolves have functional medical facilities, official says

    Warri Wolves Football Club have in place functional medical facilities and personnel, the club’s spokesman, Azuka Chiamaka, assured on Saturday in Warri.

    Chiamaka told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the club had put in place such facilities and personnel when they played continental competitions.

    “Before the club was relegated and when we played on the continent, we put those things on ground as functional medical facilities was one the requirements to host matches by the Confederation of African Football (CAF),’’ he said.

    He assured that the club was fully ready for Sunday’s Match Day 24 clash with MFM FC in terms of provision of medical facilities and personnel as required.

    NAN reports that the match scheduled for the Warri Township Stadium is a 2019/2020 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) fixture.

    Warri Wolves had won 1-0 on Match Day 23 when they met hosts Adamawa United FC in Gombe on Sunday.

    “We are fully prepared for the match against MFM Football Club on Sunday. We have functional medical facilities on ground and a certified team of nurses.

    “Aside these, we are also attached to the Central Hospital in Warri.

    “We played continental competitions before relegation and this provision of functional medical facilities was one of CAF requirements.

    “So, I can say authoritatively that we are ready for the match,’’ Chiamaka said.

    He disclosed that the state government has also paid the players three months’ salary, a development he said has also served as a boost and motivation.

    “The players know what it means to be relegated. We do not want to take chances, as we do not want to go on relegation again,’’ the club spokesman said.

    NAN reports that Warri Wolves are currently placed 10th on the NPFL table with 30 points.
