Teju babyface recounts pain of being childless for 6 years

Comic act Teju Babyface and his wife last Sunday celebrated the birth of their twin bundle of joy after waiting for 6 years to have a child

The excited comedian took to his Instagram page to recount how himself and wife battled with childlessness for 6 years.

He wrote on Instagram: “I was obsessed with beauty as a young man. Ah, I just had to marry a hot wife o. My father was quite concerned about this and cautioned me over and again. It takes much more than beauty son; You need a woman of strength and humility’, he would say.

“I can’t claim I really listened. All I can say is that I somehow got lucky and stumbled into you @tobibanjokooyelakin . And then we got married with the same dreams of starting a family that nearly every couple has. Our families too were waiting. Especially mine. After all, my dad passed away just a few months before we got married and we wanted a (new) child to soothe our pain. .

“And then it didn’t happen. Not in the first year. Or 2nd. Or 3rd. Or 4th. And year 5 started and was almost ending the same way. Ah! And yet in all that time I only saw you cry one time. Just once. Very short tears. Not even when someone wrote the most cruel of comments to a picture you posted on social media in our 4th year of marriage did you cry in my presence. Mostly, you would smile and laugh over the aching and longing and say ‘God will do it’. I confess now that sometimes I doubted. But you were right and God honoured your faith with double. May the joy He has given you never be taken from you and may His words remain true concerning us that ‘it was said among the nations that see what the Lord has done for them’.

“For all who are waiting on the Lord, I say this to you: hold Him to His word! He promised it to you and you must demand it in faith. He will come through. He ALWAYS does for He does not lie. It’s impossible. Ahan, He’s not a son of man that he should lie…”

  • Three months after: Baby reunites with parents as Ambode’s wife clears hospital bill

The joy on the faces of the Oaikhenas knew no bounds on Wednesday when they were informed that wife of Lagos Governor, Abimbola Ambode had cleared the hospital bill of their child three months after delivery.

For the first time since he was born in February 2018, Baby Ighodalo Oaikhena joined his family at their home in the Ikeja area of Lagos State on Wednesday.

Recall that The Punch had earlier reported that Ighodalo was born premature at the Ifako General Hospital together with his twin sister.

The twins were taken to a private hospital, Inton Hospital, Ogba, Ikeja, where they were placed in incubators.

While the baby girl died in the first week, Ighodalo made it alive from the incubator and was put in a nursery.

The baby’s father, Michael Oaikhena, a driver; and the mother, Roseline, a teacher, had told our correspondent that they could not raise the N1.2m bill they incurred in the course of the treatment.

Michael had said despite the family paying N550,000 out of the bill, the hospital had insisted on collecting the N650,000 balance before releasing the baby.

He further alleged that the hospital threatened to take the child to an orphanage if the balance was not paid on time.

Although the Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Mr Akeem Mustapha, denied the orphanage allegation, he insisted on the payment of the bill.

However, on Wednesday, a team of aides, acting on the instruction of Mrs. Ambode, visited the hospital and cleared the bill.

It was an emotional moment as the mother of the child, Roseline, broke down in tears of joy.

She did not believe that she would be taking the baby home as she kept asking, ‘Am I really going home with my baby today?’ The aides to the governor’s wife were moved as well, as some of them fought back tears,” a source, who was at the hospital, said.

Michael confirmed the development in a telephone conversation, adding that he was at work when he was called that his baby had been released.

He said, “As I speak to you, we are going home with the baby. I was really happy when I got a call from an aide to the governor’s wife that my baby would be going home today (Wednesday). I went there and met them with my wife and by then, the money had been paid. I am now in a car with my baby. I am really happy and I appreciate the governor’s wife for this. I wish I could see her and hug her for the gesture.”

The Assistant Director, Public Affairs, Office of the Wife of the Governor of Lagos State, Mrs. Folashade Kadiri, in a statement on Wednesday, confirmed the payment.

She said, “Mrs Ambode’s attention was drawn to a publication in the PUNCH Newspaperof Wednesday, May 30, 2018, suggesting the detention of a baby for the past three months due to the inability of his parents to pay the medical bill.

The governor’s wife had immediately directed the payment of the bill to enable the baby to reunite with his parents.

The payment of N650,000 was made by the Asst. Director, Public Affairs, Office of the wife of the Governor, Mrs Folashade Kadiri, who also effected the baby’s release.

The elated mother, Mrs Roseline Oaikhena, who was in tears, could not believe that she would be returning home so easily with her baby after the child’s three months compulsory stay in hospital after delivery.”

  • Ex-naval officer docked for alleged assault on wife

A retired naval officer, Olufemi Ibitoye, on Wednesday appeared in an Igbosere Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for alleged assault on his wife, Olumide.

Ibitoye is standing trial on a two-count charge of assault and unlawful possession of firearms.

The Prosecutor, Dr Jide Martins, told the court that the defendant committed the offences between June 30 and July, 21, 2017, at about 1:55 p.m., at No. 28A, Adeyemi Lawson St., Ikoyi, Lagos.

Martins said that the defendant assaulted his wife Olumide by throwing a six inches block at her.

He also said that the defendant was unlawfully in possession of a browning 9mm pistol with 107 rounds of live ammunition.

He said that the offences contravened Section 27 (1) (a) of the Firearms Act Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2010 and Section 172 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The accused however pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Counsel to the defendant, Mr M. J. Onigbanjo (SAN), urged the court to grant bail to the defendant on self-recognition.

“This is a matter arising from a breakdown of a marriage; the defendant and the victim have lived apart for over a year.

“He has demonstrated that he will not interfere with the investigations by submitting himself to the police whenever he is needed.

“The defendant is a former naval officer with the intelligence unit and that explains why he was in possession of ammunition.

“I urge the court to grant bail to the accused on liberal terms,” the SAN said.

In a short reply, the prosecutor told the court to, while considering the bail, ensure that the defendant would not have any direct or indirect contact with the victim.

Martins also said: “the victim is the defendant’s wife and we at the domestic violence unit want the safety of the woman.”

In her ruling, the Magistrate Folashade Botoku, granted bail to the defendant in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum.

She ordered that the defendant should not have any direct or indirect contact with the wife, and adjourned the case until May 30 for trial.

More facts have emerged on how Danish citizen, Peter Nielsen Allegedly killed his Nigerian wife, Zainab Ali-Nielsen, popularly known as Alizee and her 4-year-old daughter, Petra in Lagos yesterday.

In an interview session, Madaki Gift who is the younger sister of the deceased, attested that she heard the victim screaming for help before she was killed.

The audio of the interview which was exclusively obtained by TheNewsGuru.com reveals that, there was no obvious altercation between Alizee and her husband before the killing took place, as she reportedly served him dinner before they went to bed.

She said, ‘My name is Madaki Gift I am Zainab’s sister, the late Zainab who died. It just happened over night when she finished preparing the food for her husband . The housemate went to her room and I was the last person to leave the kitchen. So after a while , there was a fight between both of them and she was just shouting “Help Help!!

“I woke my junior sister up asking her if she heard any noise, later I saw the man hitting her head on the floor. I tried to help but he locked everywhere, there was no way for me to run and call people to come and help.

“This was around 4am In the morning, by the time we got there later in the morning she was dead.”

Recall TheNewsGuru.com reported yesterday that the Police have arrested the suspect and commenced an investigation to unravel the motive behind the murders.

The bodies of Alizee and her daughter have been deposited at a mortuary.

The Kogi-born singer was reportedly signed to an Asian record label, Petra Entertainment in 2017.

It was learnt that the record deal package included a brand new Ford explorer, a house in Banana Island and international distribution with affiliates of her record company in Asia.

Meanwhile, the late singer’s record label has issued a statement urging the Nigerian Immigration Service to be on the alert.

The statement partly read, “Petra Entertainment Limited has received with shock news of the sudden demise of our artist Nielsen Zainab Joy (Aged 29) and her daughter Nielsen Petra (Aged 4) at their Banana Island, Lagos home on the 5th of April 2018. The late Nielsen Zainab Joy (also known as Alizee) was a Nigerian citizen married to Nielsen Peter Schau a Danish citizen resident in Nigeria.

“While we exercise restraint in making public comments on the circumstances surrounding the demise of Alizee and her daughter, – in order not to prejudices on-going police investigations – it has become important to correct some misinformation presently circulating in the media space.

“We call all law enforcement agencies to speedily unravel the circumstances surrounding the demise of these vibrant Nigerians and bring all complicit persons and/or entities to justice. In the light of reports suggesting that Alizee’s husband may be under police investigation in connection with these painful deaths, we particularly call on the Nigerian immigration Services to remain vigilant at this time and urge the cooperation of all foreign missions in the country. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the relatives of the late Zainab and Petra.”

Before her death, the singer had been scheduled for the ‘Kingmaker Concert,’ a musical event to be headlined by Alterplate Music Company artiste, Harrysong.

A native of Kogi State, Nigeria, she was set to promote her January 2018-released single, ‘Alhaji Musa’, before the alleged murder.
